Love existed between them.
At first, their love was full and abundant.

And then time passed by. They met once again.

She is KangJin and BooSan's mom.
Her mom was a barmaid of Ninano bar.
She hated her mom who was with alcohol and men every day.
She was not going to live like her mom. She got a job.
She thought JunSu was a tree she couldn't climb but one day, he said seriously,
"You, don't smile (or laugh) looking at other men!!"
Since the day, she had smiled (or laughed ) only at JunSu.
Everyone tried to disturb their love, saying "It makes no sense. It's nothing less than madness."
He told her to run away with him and she took his words.
After packing her bags unawares to her mom, she waited at the train station.
'Till day dawned, he didn't show up (after all). She thought she couldn't go back home,
so she alone took a train aimlessly.
She alone emitted a forced laugh. It had to make her shed tears but only laugh again and again.
She finally became a barmaid like her mom, who coquettes with, laughs at, smiles at, and sells alcohol to men.

<Cha BooSan (born in 1980) / Kim Kibang (Teen: Seo JaeWook)>
He is KangJin's younger brother and ChunHee's son but KangJin and BooSan have different fathers.
He was born in Busan, so his name is BooSan.
Because of his name, his life is just like BooSan*. (* in disorder, busy, or noisy)
Different from his elder brother, KangJin, he has a thick head, is not good at studying, is ugly. From the point of view of strangers, he is silly and dull like GooPoon* (* A person that is between PalPoon(knothead) and a normal person)
Even so, he is a kindhearted and tenderhearted person.
Even though his brother and he have different fathers, thinking of his brother as his father, he respect and follow his brother, KangJin.
<Seo JaeHyun (born in 1977) / Kim KwangMin>
He is BumSuh Building Company's design team 3's leader.
He is a senior in KangJin's school and the company.
He and the director WooJung were at the same middle school and high school.
He married early, a teacher, who had been a trainee teacher when he had been a high school senior.
He is so communicative, but greatly optimistic, cheerful, and nice.
He is really a faithful person.

She is a tearoom waitress of SanHo tearoom in SanCheong.
Saying that she was rolling in this way and in that way and finally came to SanCheong, she always complains.
She is beautiful and desired by other entertainment spots, but she sticks to the SanHo tearoom, as a duty.

Then, one day, she has an accident finding KangJin's pendant in the water.

Her brother, JiYoung, has been the family's hope, pride, reason of life, and all.
Leaving SanCheong, she said good-bye to KangJin, and to her innocent, precious days when she was with KangJin.
She didn't know that the feelings and days, which she thought would never come again until she dying, came again to her over almost 10 years.
To meet KangJin again, and to love him again...
She didn't know before that it would require a long time, pain, suffering, misunderstanding, criss-crosses, sacrifice, burning, and her real heart.

<Han JunSu (born in 1951) / Cheon HoJin>
He is JiWan's father, Seo YoungSuk's husband, and Cha ChunHee's first lover.
People called him a posh, handsome prodigy because he had a keen intellect.
The seniors of "Myoung Eui Oriental Medicine Clinic" had already thought of him as their future son-in-law for the only daughter (YoungSuk) and treated him carefully.
But, for him, Seo YoungSuk is just a good, shy sister; not more not less.
His wish was the only one: Cha ChunHee (barmaid's daughter) would be his lady.
So he decided to run away with ChunHee.

<Seo YoungSuk (born in 1954) / Kim DoYeon>
She is JiWan's mom, Han JunSu's wife, and ChunHee's old friend.
For over 50 years, she has lived in SanCheong. She is the only daughter of "Myoung Eui Oriental Medicine Clinic."
She liked JunSu so she was frustrated when knowing that for JunSu, there was only ChunHee.
But at dawn of the day, JunSu went into her room. She thought he ran away with ChunHee...
And then, some days later, she kept him from going to find ChunHee.
"I... think... I'm pregnant."
JunSu stopped and stood coldly. And a week later, he and YoungSuk married.
That year's winter, JiYong was born, who looks like JunSu.
Looking at JiYong, JunSu smiled for the first time. And, undid his bags that had been packed and had seemed like he would leave at any time.
"Thank you, JiYong... I'll repay you for my all life... My beloved child... My child like sky..."
Kids' and JunSu's laughing sound were sometimes heard outside the window.

He is JiWan's elder brother and the (only) son of Han JunSu and Seo YoungSuk.
Like his father, JunSu, he grew up, (being) called a prodigy.
He was always in first place, and won prizes in many contests.
He was nationwide famous, not only in Gangwondo.
He entered Seoul Univ.'s business management major with excellent grades.
He always felt sorry for his sister, JiWan who was compared with him and felt small.
He is JiWan's only one counselor and mentor whom she could unburden her troubles to.
He rescued his sister from the water and died young, 22 years old.
<Lee JinKyung (born in 1981) / Seok JinYi (Teen: Yang SoYoung)>
JiWan and BooSan's schoolmate (< high school's ...)
She wants to leave SanCheong but it's not that easy.
After graduation from high school, she lives as a person in charge of general affairs at JunSu's Oriental medicine clinic.
She knows that BooSan likes her but
she is playing hard to get because she doesn't want to hear that she is an easy girl.
<Professor Noh / Kim InTae>
He is an Oriental medical Univ.'s professor.
He thinks of JiWan as a praiseworthy person because she continues her studies earnestly in difficult circumstances.
So even during her taking a hiatus, he permits her to attend his lecture.
After her graduation from the Univ., he introduces other hospitals to her.

<Park TaeJun (born in 1978) / Song JongHo>
He was raised in easy circumstances under his parents who ran a small company.
While he was studying abroad in Japan as a Waseda Univ.'s student, he met WooJung.
At that time, he didn't know WooJung was the last daughter of BumSuh Group.
Actually, that fact wasn't that important.
But because of IMF, his family got ruined.
And his father fell in a faint. His family lost their house and all the property.
His mom and elder brothers prevailed on him to come back right away and take care of his family.
But he didn't come back to Korea.
He finally graduated earning his school expenses by working.
He justifiably entered BumSuh Building Company's office by talent.
Returning as a BumSuh Building's director, WooJung announced to the whole staff of her relationship with him.
After the announcement,
he had been pressed by WooJung's parents in many ways,

So TaeJun broke up with her. And he met JiWan.

She is the last daughter out of one son and two daughters of Lee SungHwan who is the 7th leading financier and the president of BumSuh Group.
The CEO of BumSuh Group is her grandfather.
Her mom is also BumSuh Group's esteemed daughter and she think to her bone that she is in a royal family.
WooJung has a superiority complex, elitism.
She is not humble but stubborn, proud, energetic, and haughty.
Unlike her elder brother and elder sister went on to university(/-ies) by donation or special favor, she entered Waseda Univ.'s college of architecture by her talent.
Then she met TaeJun.
After returning to Korea, she still loved him.
