Stationary and books.
It's an addiction, I swear. But hey, I could do worse for a high school senior.
-
Some of the best essays I've ever written were written the night before they were due.

Had to choose between Taeyang and Jaebeom. Hardest decision of my life. Sigh. Sorry Taeyang. *heartbreak*

^ I have, it was pretty moisturizing and smelled like vanilla. (:
But it's nothing special, you could get the same effect from a decent drug store chapstick.
Plus, a common problem people seem to have with the Shea Butter Lip Care Bars is that it comes up well, but when you try to screw the bar back into the container, it has a tendency to get stuck so you kind of have to push down on the stick with your lip at the same time as you screw it back into place.

Whew, thanks so much for all your help guys! Just finished shipping off the last of my stuff today~~ whoot! Excited. Hope you all enjoyed Christmas! Haha wow, I still can't get my head around the idea of a summer Xmas(: Anyways, now that I have the basics down, I was wondering if you guys could satisfy my curiousity on a few more specific subjects (haha Google isn't much help)? They're probably silly questions but yeah....
- In terms of public transport, do people ride the bus or take the subway more? Is it possible to access most areas using one of the two?
- Are there like.... drug stores (pharmacies) and big marts and stuff as well? Like how America has CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc.....are there a lot of malls in general?
- Do all schools require you to wear uniforms and are the dress codes strict?
- What do teenagers do for fun? Are there any places you recommend that I visit?
Kudos~ (:

Haha no no not scared out of moving to New Zealand, I've just been busy packing and shipping off some of my stuff to my new flat in advance. Thanks so much for all the advice guys, you have no idea how helpful all the info is!
@Jamerrz - Oh, thank God I won't have to worry about my school then haha. Just a question, I'm well aware that NZ summers are HOT, but would you consider them HUMID as well? Cause Korean summers are STIIIIIIIIIIIICKY, and I just wanted an accurate estimate of the difference between them (: And noooo, not reluctant about moving at all just more pumped now that I have a bit of BGI to help me prepare. Definitely looking forward to those beaches you mentioned! Thanks!!
@Heroine - Whoa haha shorts all year round. Yeah, people seem to be wearing shorts in the freeeeeeezing winter here in Korea as well but with like, several layers of woolen leggings/stockings. I'll be sure to stock up on shorts then!
@Keiyun - Oh wow thanks for the helpful post, I was worrying about techie things as well. I mean, I've already got a laptop set, but I was debating whether or not to buy a bunch of adapters for my Korean electronics to use in NZ, or just to sell all my junk and buy some new stuff there. Adapters it is, I suppose.
@Kerr.Bee - Haha DEFINITELY a cold-tolerant person. Hmmm glad I won't have to worry about the schooling stuff. Thanks for your input!
@JaKi - Thank you so much for all the info! HUGE help! (: Haha I guess packing an umbrella wouldn't hurt then. Yes, I'm 16 I'd be going into Grade 11? Haha I read about the Cambridge and NCEA stuff in the info packet. Er, I was aware that it's one of the 'oldest' schools but I wasn't aware that it was 'famous' in any way. The only 'famous'-ish school I've heard of in NZ is... Epsom? Haha but that's interesting to know! (:

Oh wow haha thanks for all the replies everyone! Very informative! (:
Guess I gotta go shopping for tons of clothes then... is it very warm over there? I know it's supposed to be like, practically summer now...
And would I need very thick jackets or coats come Winter? Someone told me Auckland doesn't get much snow so....
Oh, and does Auckland Girl's Grammar have a bad reputation or something?? I wouldn't want to be going to a bad school or anything..... hectic enough moving to a new country as it is!
-
Hey everyone, nice to meet you all.
Um... haha I feel sort of awkward intruding on this thread, but I'm in need of big time advice.
So some background info first: born in Korea, but pretty much raised in Canada for most of my life, moved back to Korea about two years ago due to family business and now... I'm moving to New Zealand (Auckland)!
The thing is.. I know nothing, nada, el grande nada, about New Zealand and I'm sort of worried about how I'll adjust to a new country. Are there any tips you guys could give on what to pack (what kind of clothes, digital products, things not easily available in NZ, etc..), and what the school system and things like that are in NZ? Just any info a total newbie should know. I believe the school year is divided into four terms, right? Or, at least the one I'll likely be going to - Auckland Girls' Grammar School (does anyone go there or know anything about it?). Sorry, not really sure how to word my questions, still trying to let the news sink in haha but any input you guys could give would be GREATLY appreciated!!

has anyone tried the Hello Kitty BB Compacts??
They are absolutely adorable and I need a compact, but I'm not sure if they will work well, and they aren't that cheap so I wanted to know what I was buying before I go ahead and get one.
Also, does anyone who used has used them before have a preference as to which is better? The Flawless (purple/black top) one or the Sheer (white) one??
thanks!
Both are really pale (as are most of Etude's products) but the white one is SUPER pale. So unless you have a super light skintone, I don't recommend it unless you're aiming for the whole milky white look. My friend is about NC15~20 (probably closer to NC20 since it's summer) and she found it too pale for her. It's also very matte so I wouldn't recommend it for dry skin. Lasting power isn't that great for either of them. Purple one has pretty decent coverage though. Just a shame it doesn't last longer.

^ Just for an extra, I would say the pink cookie blusher is the best because the sugar pink is pretty light colored, it's not so noticeable unless you put alot >_< .
(I own the pink cookie blusher ! I love it <3 It's even packaged cutely.)
-----
Anyone tried the Etude House Mineral BBcream (silky sheer) ? <:
^ I've tried both of them, and both were ok. They both have good/decent oil control, but I don't recommend the silky sheer version unless you're super pale. Or unless you don't mind your face being a completely different color from the rest of your body. I'm pretty pale (NC20-ish?) but it was still way too pale for me. Actually both of them are really pale (but the sheer glowing skin one is slightly darker). Both have medium coverage, and the lasting power was pretty good. Not much darkening either. I have normal, slightly combo skin and I found the silky sheer one to be a bit drying so be sure to moisturize. If you end up getting it, be careful when you're using it for the first time because it takes a few good pumps to get the bb cream to come out and a huge gunk might squirt out if you're too agressive.

hi hi! My first post on Soompi >.>
Anyway I have a question, I was thinking of getting these things from the Etude House website:
Tear Drop Liner (Eye Liner) in SILVER
55 Kissiful Lip Tint Chou in STRAWBERRY
Lovely Cookie Blusher (I can't decide between Pink and Pink Sugar! I want something light, pink and sweet but still noticeable. Which is better?)
Fresh Cherry Tint in RED and PINK
and the beauty box and beauty stand
So I was wondering, is the Kissful Lip Tint Chou worth getting? Is it long-lasting/good? What's the color like?
Also, Ive heard the Fresh Cherry Tint is really long lasting and strong colored, but I can't decide if I should get both red and pink or just one... My lips look very good BRIGHT, bright pink, and also sometimes red.
If I get the strawberry chou, should I also get the Cherry tint in pink?
Lastly, should I get pink or pink sugar blush? I want something very light and pink, and I think just the pink would be best..?
haha sorry for all the questions! I just can't resist Etude House >.< Everything is SO CUTE!
In my opinion, I definitely don't think you'd regret getting the kissful tint chou. It seems like every single girl at my school carries at least one tube around. It's pretty long-lasting (color stayed vibrant even after eating) but if you want a noticeable color, I don't recommend the shade in strawberry. It's more of a natural, pale-pinkish shade and won't show up very clearly if you have dark lips. As for the fresh cherry tint, you should definitely get the pink one if your lips look good in a bright pink color. One swipe gives some serious color to your lips. And yes, it's extremely long lasting (but can be a little bit drying). Getting the fresh cherry tint in pink, and the tint chou in red is an option you might want to consider (:
As for the cookie blushers, I'd recommend getting pink if you just want a sweet, basic color. I'm not sure how it'll show up on your skintone, but for the majority of people I've seen wearing the cookie blushers, the sugar blush was a super light, sort of mauvish color? Plus the pink blusher is the most popular one. ^^ Hope I managed to help!

Yesterday I had to invigilate the Korean lit. exam and science exam (the bloody 2-hour one). Fortunately by 9.30 AM a couple of carpools of teachers had come in and I didn't have to sit in a classroom all day. By 5PM did some of the students ever look depressed with boredom, having long since given up but having to sit / sleep there for the whole two hours. I could at least get up and walk up and down the rows or go gawk out the window for a while.
Believe me I feel for you. I don't care if the students want to sleep after they've finished / given up.
Now today I have to explain some of the questions on the English test to the Korean English teachers because they can't understand things they're supposed to be teaching the students. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be for someone who's fluent in English to have to sit there today listening to someone who can hardly speak English try to explain pointless English grammar points in Korean for fifty minutes.
You're a popular teacher at school aren't you? (: Ahaha thank God, someone who understands my pain.
Actually, the whole listening to pointless grammar points isn't so terrible, in a way it's fascinating to see how another country interprets English but you know those moments where the teacher writes something on the board that technically is grammatically correct (with the 동사 or 형용사 or whatever in the right place) but it just sounds awkward and probably wouldn't be used in that form by a fluent English speaker?
Ex) I was desired that future. I saw a window broken.
As opposed to) I desired that future. I saw a broken window
etc.....
Or when there's some ridiculous translation that will ONLY ever apply to the sentence it was found in? Well, at those moments I want to speak up and ask why it was written like that or how it's considered correct but the reactions of the teacher and my classmates? Not so good... I vaguely remember the first time I 'corrected' a teacher in class. I just meekly raised my hand and politely inquired,
"선생님... 죄송한데 그 문장에서는 ___가 아니고 ___ 것 같은데요..." (Teacher... I'm sorry, but I think it should be __ in that sentence, not __...).
Yeah if looks could kill, I would've been pulverized. The kids all stared at me disdainfully and my teacher called me over after class to reprimand me for interrupting his lesson. If it had been any other normal Korean kid in my class, I'd bet you anything that the kids would have been delighted and the teacher would have grinned sheepishly and bonked the head playfully on the head or something. People tell me it's my duty to help my peers out and put my English skills to use, but whenever I attempt to (NICELY) explain something, the automatic response I get is,
"You think you're all that, just 'cause you can speak some English?"
Geez, what the heck is it that they want from me? -__-; (Aha, end of embarassingly long post).
-
^ Con: Having to trudge through the miserable weather in my flimsy uniform to take the same test mentioned above. It's bad enough having to get used to sitting in the same classroom from 7:50 to 10PM everyday, but sitting slumped across my desk, pretending to check and doublecheck my exam sheet a thousand times to avoid being reprimanded by the examinator for being done 50 minutes early.... that's just cruel and unusual punishment.
-
I can finish a foot long but I have a very weak jaw (yeah I'm prematurely senile, sue me; and chewing through all that bread usually proves to be too painful for me to get through the whole thing.

Wow this is great, a Thailand thread on Soompi : D!
Hey everyone, my name is Joanne and I'm Korean, living in Korea at the moment. I'm actually going on a volunteer trip to Thailand in March (during Spring Break) and I was just wondering what the weather is like around that time? It's winter and pretty darn cold here but it's warm (or is sweltering more appropriate?) in Thailand all year round right? Should I be packing a completely summer-themed wardrobe, or would it be smart to toss in a few hoodies in my luggage? Also, how easy is it to get around on only English? I have absolutely no knowledge of the Thai language (just studying the absolute basics before I go). Also, it'd be great if you could just fill me in on some basic knowledge that a first-timer should know (: Thanks!

For those of you who own instaxes, have you noticed any change in the developed photos over time? Like fading or color changes or whatever?? (: Your answers would be much appreciated~ ^^

Pro: Receiving ridiculous amounts of Pepero on Pepero Day.
Con: Receiving ridiculous amounts of Pepero on Pepero Day... and not knowing what to do with all of them. No seriously, it's probably going to take me years to get through all the boxes of Pepero I got today. Ah, the spoils of commericalism.

^ Yeah, I'm glad you cleared that up. Stella IS still in SM. She has not been dropped, she just decided to focus on her education instead of pursuing a career as an entertainer... for the time being. And yes, she's been on and off with Siwon a few times but they ARE currently together.. the last time I checked at least. Haha, sorry ladies. She's gorgeous by the way, but a bit fragile looking. Tall, pale, and super slim (I think she's like... 5'8"-ish/172 cm? but not even 50kgs...). Anyways, to back up my credibility, a few of my unnies and oppas went to high school with her, and one of my oppas is her neighbor and close friend.
