HiI sorry a bit late to this drama. But I’m really confused with Cheng family. In episode 4 I saw that the mom and dad left with two toddlers and one baby. Then niao niao oldest brother is mentioned in the next. But I’m not seeing anyone in the cast list or anywhere else. Did i miss something (only on episode 7) that was said about the oldest brother? It’s driving me insane. I apologize if someone had already mentioned this. I tried go through 14 pages of forums to look for it but might have missed it. Any help is appreciated !!

I have iQIYI but I don’t see any updates. My VIP expired but they still list what vip can see compared to regular. I’m hoping something. I know the viewing calendar for this show it says that for “non VIP” the show completes “9/22” for VIP it was end of august. Not sure what that means tho… I do hope I get to see more.

OK finally finished. Took me forever since samsara was airing around same time and I was not happy with that one.
BUT ok I loved this drama. At first I thought it was maybe not as serious and just light hearted and wow did that change lol.
I absolutely love the character development in this show.
SpoilerDFCQ in the beginning(I know it’s the tree but still) he seemed to only really care about himself and saw others as servants. Then towards the end he’s even pouring wine for SQ and telling him to drink with him.
Pretty sure I don’t need to go into each character but they all were great.
(YunZhong really annoyed me )sound track is amazing as well. Great singers and lyrics
costumes obviously were excellent it was super unique . The other only fantasy drama that I can relate costumes to is Ice Fantasy(do yourself a favor and don’t watch it lol) since the one also had its own unique style. (esp the headpieces )
It’s def a good length although towards the end I was like wait there’s one episode left WHAT.
but only have a couple questions (compared to millions from other drama). That I might have missed from first watch
- did they ever explain ChangHeng and his brothers family in terms of what happened. I know his mom was banished?- when XLH parents turned her into an ordinary grass, did they send it to si ming? (Love the cameos) kinda confused on that flow of things.

I'm totally with @Keekiii and everyone who is still dissatisfied with all they presented us. And that two 2 special episodes are just meeee
I pity some characters whose screen time was waisted for nothing, starting with YM and CL. With YM I partly blame actor's lack of acting skills here, but overall the production put YM in a position of a useless third weel, especially in the end. I insist they should have better sticked to the original idea they put in our heads at the beginning of the show. They clearly set it themselves- he rang CL's bell and this means he is her significant other by fate. Should he have fallen in love with her in the end, or should she have died, or some another variation- it doesn't matter. And instead, look where it all ended up
. She is marrying some tournament champion?!!! And even fancies him?! Ridiculous (((.
Not to mention that weird "love trio" with Huanqin, Liu Wei Yang and Tao Zi Qi. I loved the last two as a couple in Love and Redemption, and they really did not convince me here. Very "weak" characters in terms of onscreen chemistry(((. I felt like Huanqin had more "chemistry" with YY, and LEY - with the girls from his sect in the Mortal world(((.
Ohhh, I'm certainly not going to rewatch part 2. I remember when they announced the project I read some rumors that Yang Zi took the role only bcs she had contract obligation, that she didn't want to play the role. She still did her job great, as her partner did as well, but honestly I think she deserved better.
i do remember reading somewhere that yangzi had to do this due to her contract with (can’t remember the name now lol) and I also remember fans were not happy she took this. This was before the airing but said something like fans were angry since she’s way above this role. Which I do get. Both the mains are. But she def owned it.
ugh YM Would have def been better with any other actor that showed emotion. Even the tears made me cringe .. i don’t even get why they had the bell for chaolan.. felt like they wanted to do more with it but was like ehhh we gotta cut it shorter. Also towards the end I completely forgot about the sea dragon characters until they randomly popped up again. I actually do not think i’ll be rewatching as well. I thought about it and then was like eh i’ll prob be even more confused. But almost done with love between fairy and devil and that one I highly recommend.

SpoilerThe first one was just super awkward lol. It’s like few mins of them awkwardly kissing lol. But I’m not quite sure what happened. Maybe when they died they reincarnated into mortals? But didn’t they destroy their souls? Then next one was cute but it also felt like they just inserted it randomly
im still deciding if I want to rewatch before I make an opinion. But I was def disappointed in part 2. This drama really had so much potential and I’m a bit sad they choose to rough edit and cut out scenes. -

I literally made it through eps 56-59 only bcs Cheng Yi and Yang Zi did a very good job.
Everything else-a complete mess, logic and sanity died somewhere at ep 55
... at some moments I really couldn't understand what is going on like at all, bcs they seem to just chop some info/backstory. Such a huge disappointment(((.
Overall, part 2 could be brilliantly characterized by @SC2019
Re YM character- I actually liked the character in general, but not the way they portrayed him, and sorry, but the actor just couldn't deliver at all. Such a waste.
Thanks for all who mentioned additional episodes coming, I sincerely hope they would respect the viewers and give proper endings to all the main cast.
Lol. Unfortunately this is one of those shows that had such potential but due to not being able to show the full story it just crashed. Really not sure what was going on with the edit team there. It seemed like two diff people edited part 1 and part 2… sigh. I felt like part 1 had too many useless scenes while they could have used them for part 2 story.
still do love the main actors. They’re def one of the top. I saw in a BTS where Yangzi was really crying then it was a cut and she laughed at something then cried again. I don’t even know how you would do that. Lol I either don’t cry or I cry hard and forever. I do know I think the golden hairpin is one of her next big shows coming out and then lotus casebook for chengyi.
ugh can’t believe we still have to wait few days for the special. But I’ve heard it’s going to be good
Now I can focus on love between fairy and devil at least. Not sure what to watch after that lol.

Ah I really love costumes in this it’s so unique. I feel like I’ve never even this type of style anywhere before. XLH dresses are so adorable. I love the flowing sleeve look. And I agree Dylan looks so majestic even if he’s doing something silly.
I also love Shang Que character. He’s like the town idiot that’s not only sincere but powerful. Lol he’s so clueless about everything however he does show his appreciation to DFQC. I’m more than half way but I’m wondering
SpoilerDo they show Shang que back story? I know he was an orphan and DFQC took him in and was the only one that didn’t want his dragon skin etc…

I agree with the voice that’s why I love yangzi cause she usually does her own voice. Zhao lusi does her own most times too and Lou yunxi. I think the voice of xiao lan hua def fits well. This is my first time seeing her and she def does the role well.

Forgot to add that I LOVE xiaolanhua outfits and the costumes in the show.

I can't comment a lot re her voice, since I don't speak the language and,as you can imagine, it's impossible to be annoyed if you don't understand a thing
. However, it's my understanding she prefers to dub her roles herself, so since it's her voice there is nothing she can do about it).
Re her acting - at first, when I was not familiar with the character and her backstory I was like "oh, no, another typical "up to being dumb" FL". Especially when she went to see Changheng. Later, when I watched Little Orchid's interactions and dialogs where she expresses her points of view on life and things to other characters, I began to understand her better. I can get where that naive girl inside of her comes from. Also, as the story progresses she progresses as well. So, because of all that, IMO, Esther's acting was on point. BTW, it's my first time seeing her onscreen.
Oh no here’s another tear jerker lol.
I thought her acting was on point too. (My first time seeing her as well. ) esp when they body switched lol. That definitely showed both actors abilities

Asura's clan is very powerful but their weakness is short life span. Therefore, he wants the jade to extend the life span of his people. I think he is already powerful enough to absorb the life essence of others but with the jade ability, he can absorb a lot more. In the last scene at the battlefield, I believe he is using the jade to absorb multiple people.

SpoilerI do remember him saying about how asura people have short life spans. But now he can live basically forever. (Earlier when they showed the backstory scene I thought they were going to show the entire story then. But it literally jumped back super quick. Almost felt like whoever edited it dropped it in by accident lol. )
The jade seems to be way overpowered… it wasn’t just a few seconds back in time. He went back to when he first met RanQing.

Her disciple isn't really bad , he just have no moral limit towards his goal , this tragic side-story is good
Good original voice by female lead , songs are good although I don't like the specific singer's signature cross-gender singing
I fast forwarded plenty and didn't care about the male-to-male talk , glad I did that because the emperor guy is airhead and his finger magic attack can always be blocked
good "journey" feeling as they moved to new studio location after every segment
the part about moving to moon palace is good and well explored , the shift in architecture and fake flowers , explaining the iron maiden torture device and including child actors in the flashback
personally I dislike magic fantasy drama where the bad guy is a CGI monster trapped in a place and commanding humans to do bad things
Although I just started to catch up on episodes of this (about 18 episodes in) I can see where you got your rating from.
But don’t get me wrong it’s a fun show and I do enjoy it. But I sorta feel like this show was directed more towards the younger crowd (I’m in my mid 30s) rather than someone my age or older. The story is quite unique in his own way. I do sorta feel like it’s almost a superficial story rather than something that’s insightful (with more thought process and deeper thinking ). Not sure if that makes sense. It’s a drama where you’re able to watch it without any stress or frustration as well. Very light hearted.
the comedy in it is also very upfront and direct rather than filled with puns etc…
Hope no one takes offense to what I’ve said. I do like it what I’ve seen but that’s the general type of feeling I get. It’s a more relaxed show. I’m able to come back to it without feeling like I need to understand what’s happening and I think the perfect length as well.
i’ll let you know more once I do finish it.

I remember I was watching Renascence and they also cut it, practically in a half but they managed to cut the whole arc of the plot with (I suppose) possible side stories, so the main storyline was not that damaged. Obviously a lot was missing, but the result was ok.
Here they seem to make cuts within the arcs, and the result is the story jumps from one scene to another, it's not, I would say, cohesive enough...
Re the voice- I actually like his voice and think it suits the bad daddy's character
. I'm honestly starting to have a kind of crush on bad daddy Asura
, great job by CY)).
Re the schedule- it's my understanding those who bought vip package will get all the episodes left tomorrow, and others-the next week.
im super sad as well and a bit upset. I kept going back to see if maybe I missed something. Wish they would least put how much time has passed. Wish they focused on part 2 more since the story is more crucial than some of part 1.

So he just needed the jade in order to complete his device and be able to reverse time. I remember there was a flashback in one of the episodes where he turned back time to prevent a diff clan from killing themselves. I wonder if that was before or after. I do remember that scene just randomly appeared in the episode

Although Asura is very very tempting, hard to resist a baddie like this but my heart goes to YY especially when
he and YD received their punishment - throughout the whole time, he was comforting YD. He didn't try to 'protect' her the same way in the past (sheltered everything for her without her awareness) but stand by her and respect her decision. Love it when he asked whether she is able to continue to take the punishment, and only when he knows she can't that he stepped in. I see an understanding between both leads after everything they've been through, their love matured on common ground.
CY is such a good actor playing three completely diff characters in one drama. I like how you can def see his emotions through his eyes and body movements.

I watched the episode a couple of times in case I missed something but nope… it’s like this and this all happened and nack. I remember you had said it was supposed to be 80(?) episodes and then cut down? But the things they cut and then showed doesn’t really flow or make any sense…
I agree I hope there won’t be anymore esp since the ending is important.

Emm, I should say the beginning of S2 is really boring. There are some great moments, but they obviously talk too much and the story barely moves forward. Hope to see more starting from ep47.
Want to finally see the story of YY's parents. So far, from that moments they've shown us (and the trailer), daddy really was a bad, very bad and cunning guy))). I'm very pleased to see they invited Cheng Yi for this role, in love with the character in advance, hehe

for some reason I feel that s2 is choppy like they edited it at the wrong places. The most recent episodeSpoiler(I think maybe I’m just going insane) you see yumo in the giant bucket thing pouring ice on himself. I don’t remember him getting hurt that bad where his fire spirit disappeared. It could just be That I still don’t really like the actor haha.
I do have to say taoziqi character acts so well. There’s always that sorrow and sadness in her eyes but now it’s like hm….. (funny compared to her character on LR too )
Oh tomorrows episode should be the story. I saw it on the previews for Youku YouTube -

Real quick in the latest ep 44 I dunno if I missed it or they just skipped it
SpoilerWhen yumo found the fake zilin and linlang in the cave all it shows is the guards grabbing the boy and yumo telling him to close his eyes. I’m not sure if my streaming didn’t load but the it goes to tang Zhou.. however back At yelan mountain zilin etc are saved and yumo made a comment about how zilin rushed to save linlang. Was that skipped entirely or I missed it?

SpoilerI saw no boundary. I remember there being some confusion and then season 2 there were even more questions left unanswered. Overall the drama was enjoyable. The xianxia dramas are always super long too
I did enjoy (not xian xia) moon brightens for you took me alil to get into and I wasn’t a fan of the ML but it grew on me.
just don’t watch ice fantasy lol. At first it was good but omg… that drama is filled with repeated slow mo back flashes and side stories. It also really annoyed me the ML is just I can’t lol. -

SpoilerI feel like they really overdid it with Ying Deng. She has sooo many scenes too. I saw that people were complaining that as the 3rd FL had more screen time than the 2nd FL. At first it was just the right amount but towards the end of part one omg she just kept coming back and appearing. I also felt that she really did not get what she actually deserved. I feel bad for the actress I think she got a lot of hate for this role
Towards end of part 1SpoilerI did really enjoy tang Zhou and yumo working together and their bantering. I think it’s silly YM thought TZ was general huode. I just can’t imagine that character reborn and being like TZ. I saw in the trailer for 2nd part after the moral realm YY realized what he actually wanted and fought for it

Ah sorry to bother you. I wasn’t sure who to ask. Was seeing if you’re able to answer a quick question I had for ever night? They always mention xia hou lover etc and how he liked her. Are they referring to that dancer in the earlier episodes? I’m confused cause they always mention his sis during the convo. Ty so much
