Weibo CEO made a righteous statement:

"Some accounts maliciously misinterpreted the artist's travel videos, pieced together screenshots to spread rumours and broke the news.  Forcibly linked

    Note:

What the Weibo CEO said is true. After the Qinglang Operation was launched, many unscrupulous artists were blocked. At the same time, many netizens began to maliciously spread rumors and try to block the artists who they dislike.

Hello, Thanks for providing information about this rumor, I have read some things on twitter, but did not respond to those tweets to avoid making the rumor bigger. the timing of rumor is noteworthy for sure, especially so close to Movie's release. I am glad Weibo's CEO addressed the issue.  Thanks again for your insight and translation. I hope Cloudy mountain does well.

To dear myself is an interesting one. The ending was disappointing as it felt unfinished. I actually enjoyed his interaction with Wang Zhi Ru, although I simultaneously wondered whether he'll end up with Si Yu. Apparently the show is very popular in China and generated of discussion whereas overseas, there was a lot of people unhappy with Chen Yi Ming's character.

Its interesting to know the Chinese fans vs overseas fans reaction to Chen Yi Ming. I guess people's own perception and beliefs affect how they perceive a character/person. Some may find the character relatable and others may not. Some may find it so relatable that they dislike it and some just do not like the character. That’s the complexity of human nature, I am glad the show is popular in China.

I'm sad to hear about the recent news of ZYL being slandered online. I hope he is feeling ok and not affected by the negative rumours.

I have read about the rumors , but he seems like a steady person who is clear in this objective and purpose in life. So, I would like to believe he is okay but there is only so much a person can take before things start affecting them whether consciously or unconsciously. I just hope things calm down soon and people especially fans don't get pulled into it.

This is one of the cons of being international fan, you hear a little bit of information but not the full story. I don’t even understand the full affect this can have on him, if any. But I hope with so much negativity, C-fans are able to spread some positivity. I wish there was a way we could trend positive things related to him.

On a positive note I read he got a new endorsement, I hope he gets more and more successful so that these Antis or whoever is behind these things won't be able to touch him.  :star:

  3. I finally finished Reunion, there were some issues, plot holes and the edits that didn't help the story. But I liked the show especially Zhu Yilong's performance as Wuxie. It was fun watching him act as Wang Meng, it feels like he had fun with that character. Even without the subtitles, I could tell he was not Wuxie.

My favorite part was the trio’s friendship. Zhu Yilong and Chen Ming Hao were wonderful together, they played against each other wonderfully. Huang Junjie also did great. I don’t think I can see other actors as iron triangle or this triangle will be my favorite.

I have to say I did not appreciate when the other actor replaced ZYL as Wuxie under disguise. It lasted for 6 episodes even after everyone knew he was Wuxie, especially near the end. I don’t think it was necessary to drag it for that long, the trio felt wrong, their chemistry different. My attention wavered, I could not focus on the story and I kept wondering when ZYL will be back instead of paying attention to the story..

(Nothing against the other Actor but I am not familiar with lost tomb series or the books/webnovel. I only watched the show for ZYL and he disappeared, it broke continuity and everything felt off to me.)

Overall, I enjoyed the show and everyone’s performance, seems like the show did well and everyone’s hard work paid off. (I do not understand Mandarin and only going by the information on twitter).

Dear Myself also finished, I have only watched couple of episodes, ZYL and Liu ShiShi’s chemistry is good, I will try to finish it because of ZYL, but it is no the type of show I normally watch and some spoilers are not very encouraging about the ending. Seems like this show did well too, good for everyone who worked hard in this show.

I’ll wait for ZYL future shows, I believe rebel will be released next year.  I hope he gets a great script and will be able to work with a good production team in future. I want him to pick interesting and challenging characters but can he pick a show with happy ending, it was nice seeing Wuxie healthy and enjoying his time with friends.

All the way to the end of the season.  I enjoyed it; seeing Wu Xie act like a mastermind instead of manipulate people from behind in Sand Sea is nice.

I also liked the warehouse part; I mean sure there were some draggy aspects and the cuts by censorship did not help coherence of the story. But I liked seeing Wu Xie using his brain to outsmart people, being petty and solve the mystery of the warehouse. I also liked the fact that regardless of his capability to be manipulative/ruthless, he still cares about people and their safety whether he trusts them or not.

One of my favorite line by Wu Xie to Xiao Bai is “It’s your business to lie to me or not, and it’s my business to trust you or not.” Or when he says  “the deepest place I have fallen is my uncles Sanxing’s trap for me and his lies.’

Wu Xie is such a complex character and its interesting watching him interact with his friends and new people he meets.

I did miss seeing the Iron triangle though, their friendship is just amazing and the actors are doing such a great job of showing that.

I am not looking forward to all the cuts they had to do again for season 2.

It’s been two years since the summer of 2018, he has achieved so many goals. He has 26 million followers on Weibo now. But there’s still a long way to go ahead of him.

I have also known him since Guardian and the short live show Clown. His portrayal of Shen Wei in Guardian left such a deep impression that I was hesitant to watch reboot or any of his other shows. I thought I would be reminded of Shen Wei. He was also fantastic in Clown, this was live show where he was moving around acting and singing it was very impressive, the child actor did great too. I can only imagine the teamwork needed to create something like this.

I finally watched Reboot and was impressed by his acting again. His portrayal of Wu Xie feels like he is Wu Xie and not a character he is playing. I did not find a trace of Shen Wei or any other character in his portrayal. Then watching him in Dear myself as Chen Yiming, needless to say I won’t have any preconceived ideas again regarding his acting. I am now watching all his shows that I can find with English subs.

I have also watched some of his interviews and he seem very down to earth, serious about his craft, improving himself, trying different roles. His singing is also getting better.  I also like his awkwardness makes him feel more real (the drawing of sun on his hand during one of his performance was adorable).

I wanted to thank you for always providing updates and tidbits.  Sometimes I come across some negative comments but without understanding the language and context of the situation some things seem worse than they might be. Every actor has fans, people who dislike them and people who are indifferent, but I did not know there were people who would spend time and energy by actively posting negative things. I mean if I don’t like someone, I won’t follow them or their work and not waste my time.

I agree with you, he has a long road ahead of him. I hope he will get better scripts and roles to play both in dramas and movies, and work will good directors and productions. I cant believe I am following an actor like this and even get worried about him, anyways thanks again.

Yes, they shot season 1 and 2 altogether. They originally shot 72 episodes, and it’s just divided into two seasons, so for season 2 the cast will be the same.

Nanpai Sanshu said he started preparing for Reboot since 2017. They started filming in October 2018, and wrapped up in April 2019. It took them over one year to do the post production and editing. The scenes they filmed were enough for over 80 episodes. With the editing and sensorship limitation, they finally cut the series to 66 episodes, with 32 in season 1 and 34 in season 2.

It’s a long and tiring process for the whole production. When ZYL was filming, he said that he had a feeling that they would never be able to finish filming.

Thank you so much @paopaolong I started watching this show because of ZYL, and he is doing an impressive job in his portrayal as Wu Xie in a genuine, natural manner, and the chemistry between Iron triangle is amazing whether its the sad scenes, emotional scenes, or the comedic scene between Wu Xie and Fatty, they seem like brothers or really good friends. I ended up loving all the actors and the relationship between all the characters. Aside from some draggy scenes the show itself is great, the acting, directing, music, cinematography, mixture of high and low moments, its like watching a movie. (I am also thankful IQIY has eng subs).

That's why I got worried about the change of the cast. So thank you so much for taking the time and answering my question.

On the Reboot hotpot livestream yesterday:

    1. ZYL said some important scenes were cut, which impacted the fluency of the series.

(From what I’ve learned: the scenes where Wu Xie chased Jin Wantang aka “Tangtang” with his knife in ep 2, where Wu Xie injured his hand in ep 8, where Wu Xie saved Liu Sang from the human figurines in ep 10, where Wu Xie helped Jin Jiuye against the rebellious soldiers in ep 15-16, etc. And in the upcoming episodes about 11th Warehouse, some important scenes were also cut out)

    2. Nanpai Sanshu said when ZYL was filming the Reboot, he got so thin and everyone was worried about him. And ZYL said, “it doesn’t matter, I can endure.”

    3. Chen Minghao (Fatty) drove 19 hours from Beijing to Hengdian just to have hotpot with ZYL. He even invited him to act on stage in the future. (Chen Minghao is a stage director and actor.)

    4. Chen Minghao actually sprained his ankle during the filming, and he forgot to explain it after he got well. So he added a line when he was doing the dubbing, that his ankle was cured by the “human hand-shellfish”.

    5. Sanshu was mad when he found out that the director shot the scene where Xiaoge was hit in the head by Fatty outside Yangdaguang’s ancestral hall. So he demand them to reshoot the scene. He also wanted to change some parts of the Mute Village, but the director told him that the whole village, even the temple was exploded down so they could do nothing to refilm those scenes.

Just wanna make a clarification here. The original plan of Reboot was 3 seasons with 72 episodes at the beginning. They cut out 6 episodes, and finally decided to split it into 2 seasons. Nanpai Fanyu and Youku just wanted the series to be aired in more than one season before the weird limitation came out.

Hello @paopaolong, thank you for always giving information on behind the scene and interviews, it is nice to know any tidbit related to the show and actors.

I was wondering if you had information on whether they have finished the shooting of all episodes for season 1 and season 2.

Since the shooting went on for so long, I thought they finished the recording all episodes but planned on dividing the  series into two seasons.

But I have been reading mixed comment some saying all the episodes have been shot and some saying season 2 will have new cast (I hope not especially if it's going to be continuation of this story), I really like this cast and story, they are doing wonderful job. So if you any information it will be appreciated.
