@casey1409 long time no see. i dont really like that interview. it talks a lot about how he tried to reject writer KES which is almost like negative of him. i prefer his other interviews where he express himself honestly with a tinge of humour.
Now that I read what you said, it really does feel like the interview was trying to be too negative for the purpose of publicity... I feel better now...

Hey guys..
It's me since I've become a silent lurker.... I had to log in to post this... Though i'm sure a lot of you have already read this interview...
I'm crying now... There's so much pain inside this interview... Why is he so hard on himself... Why does he feel like his fans can't see beyond the "celebrity light" that is usually cast on Asian actors? Why does he thinks that his fans doesn't love him through his acting or his passion for acting? I understand a lot (even most) of the actors in Asian countries (even hollywood ones) sees the filming industry as the road to fame and rarely for its artistic value... And the public feels that way too and rarely regards the dramas or movies seriously (Focusing too much on the celebrity) ... But I'm sure GY's fans are seeing him as the actor and not only the celebrity part of him...
Maybe i'm being conceited or reading it too much... But It feels like he's not happy after Goblin.. After the fame that it brings.. I dont see his genuine smile that i see from the BTS episode when he was working.. His smiles on all the interviews, events etc felt fake to me...
And it's so frustrating that I am unable to transmit this message to him... Bcz I'm a nobody from a place that he wouldnt even know exists...Frustrated bcz there's fans who loves his work and him as an actor but not the "oh so charming celebrity”.. But he doesnt get that message from us...
If any of you, happens to write a letter, send a video or anything that you do to try to communicate with him... Please let him know... that we see him as an actor... as the person that brings the work he's in alive.. and not an just a mere idol that has looks and charm and fame....

if the episode ended at 13, the title wouldn't have been "the shining & lonelygoblin"... KS decision to try to fight destiny, and even though there was no way, he kept believing that a miracle would happen and decided to stay in the world between life and death.. his persistence made him the shining one (the other reason that he shines is also bcz he helps ppl, as what ET mentioned)..
on the other hand, it was exactly this decision of his to return to the side of his beloved bride that he is bound to be the lonely god... cz we dont know whether a second miracle would happen and the almighty would allow KS to die along with ET after her last live.. (though i'm just gonna imagine that that IS the final ending of this couple..)
if theres not the part where kim shin stayed, and ET died, and KS waited for centuries again for his bride, i think the story wouldn have struck the heart of so many ppl... so I do have to counter your opinion that the writer did a bad job.. Plus, if according to the series, (KS himself), it is stated that no love or sadness will last for a milenium.. but ET said there's one thing that do last a milenium and its a "sad love".. So if we follow this theory, it is exactly bcz it was a heart wrenching love that even after centuries, they are still onto each other with such a strong bond and the bond will only grow each time they are apart from each other... though it does add on the "lonely" part of KS...
Okay... This is so fuckking sad.. :'( *sry bout the language.. i'm feeling emo... lol

If they really did happen, good for them, if they did not, I'd be happy not being one among all that contributed to a false rumor...

Proves how good of an actor he is! He makes us believe he's that character whenever he plays one... Though I was discussing about this with my fiance and he said something that got me thinking... He said " Why do people get amazed when an actor is acting well? He's an actor so isn't he suppose to be good at it?"
And I answered him with "Well the entertainment world is not just about acting.. It's about fame, scandals, good looks, group chemistry, luck and so on.. So someone who's famous in this industry and working as an actor, singer etc doesn't actually need to be good at what their role is.. (I think we can all name a few that stays in the industry just by having huge fan base / good looks...)

1. It's still bad to celebrate breakups unless the relationship was a destructive and abusive one..2. It's putting GY in a bad position as the guy who stole someone's girlfriend.. and KGE as the girl who changed her heart easily whenever a new guy pops up...

That was what happened in Sydney right? Where a bunch of fans mobbed him so much they were grabbing and pushing and he had to be escorting out of the restaurants by bodyguards pushing them back.. The new fans should also be lucky gong yoo even has fan meetings because he rarely had them years ago since he wasn’t well known yet. However, not everyone is in the entertainment industry for the fame or be in a competition to see who has the most fan base. I think it is quite obvious he enjoys his acting career and is super passionate and dedicated but at the end of the day, he wants to continue living a normal life as someone saidin his forum, “as gong ji-chul”. btw, i'm a new fan too and there's something I have been quite curious.. How's GY's english proficiency level? From his pronunciation in the movies, it feels like he's quite good in english.. Well, my fiance is sort of like how I think he is.. Secluded anti-social, shy.. and not only was he quiet, he literally followed behind me everywhere when we were out with my friends... I don't find it embarassing though.. It was kinda cute...
Anyway.. What I said previously was just how I feel about him.. And I found (in my perception) the reason of him being how he is now.. So I accepted the fact and respected his choice.. If he was to be the anti-social celebrity... I don't think I have the rights to ask him not to do so... I mean.. I don't even have the right to change my fiance's personality whom I will be spending the rest of my life with.. What more a celebrity that I have never talked to...
I think as a GY fan, it would be easier on us if we cheer him on with his work and not ask for his private life so much.. as I don't think he's ever gonna change... (He seems like someone that would quit the industry once he fame dies down or once he dont find any enjoyment acting in front of the camera anymore...)I'm not gonna go through point by point on my opinion.. I don't know.. But for me, I find him even more charming that he secludes himself like this... Attention is a kind of drug and usually people wants it more and more once we have tasted it... And especially as someone who works in the showbiz industry, it's even harder to separate work from his private life... As both are very intertwined...
GY does not succumb to attentions and he still wants to live his life as Gong Ji Chul... But when it comes to work, he would still go for it... He doesn't attend to most of the awards as (let's face it,) the wins are usually determined by popularity instead of as a recognition of the actor's job.. But he does go to certain awards that marks great accomplishments as an actor such as the "Cannes film festival"Despite all that, he still loves his fans.. Which is why he has attended all the FMs or fansignings etc.. If it wasn't for the fans, I doubt he would have turned out at all... So please don't be mad at him for not showing up so much... T_T
By being how he is.. he earned my respect as an actor and I love him more because of this..... I think he really is someone very wise and he's able to distinguish reality and showbiz world... And he keeps it that way despite all the pressure from the industry to mix them up...
Still, I understand how you all feel... Gosh... 1. Goblin- Ending. It also has plenty of plot holes, that need to be explained. I don't like how Sunny and Grim Reaper were treated by the writer. I feel like they suffered too much and never got to have a proper relationship. I know they reincarnated, but it was at the end and it felt rushed. Euntak dying. Really? Come on writer. Why let her be happy, finally find her goblin then kill her just like that? I know it was because of the children, but I don't get her death. She was wronged. Also, goblin ended up lonely forever. After Shintak's remaining lives, what happens? He'll be alone. It just upsets me.
Goblin's ending hurt me so much I was depressed for few weeks and I realized it was because they had to go through life and death separation two times...!
I searched on forums and all reading all the comments and I personally liked this one the most:
"Eun Tak really had to die (I dont like it one bit....) because she was living with borrowed time.. and the burden of being the goblin bride who was destined to end his life..."
My extra thinking got me to a conclusion where ...
Her dying by sacrificing not only let her not having any regrets & resentment towards herself for the rest of her lives but also might create another loop-hole that the almighty would eventually in the end grant Eun Tak immortality too (because of her self sacrifice kind heart) and she would be able to live forever with Mr. Goblin.. Plus, Goblin said as well according to his own experience that no love or sadness can last an eternity... and they more or less both agreed that only "sad love" would.. So their separation for god knows how long.. (confirmed to be more than 50 years) would eventually feed the "sad love" feel and thus their love would last as long as their immortality when the time comes....
Another thing was that, bcz of Eun Tak sacrifice, she was able to retain her memories until the next life and who knows for the other lives as well... (If not I doubt that the Almighty would have allowed it...)-
