  1. Cant wait for tomorrow!!!

I love the theme for this year's anniversary bc it involves their real family (except for YSC lol it's a shame :( they should've invited his brother Yang Sehyung, they're so fun together...)

RM's editing sucks big time and I dont want to get disappointed but I wish I can see interaction between SJH-CSM and KJK-KJM  My main concern is that 4 other guests are celebrities so I'm afraid they'll steal scenes but I hope they focus more if not as much on the 4 other pairs of real family, HH and his best friend and KJK SJH JSM and their brothers.

Edit: Whoops it's not tomorrow... I mean Sunday :D

  2. Scrolling to your discussions especially about marriage... We are all aware about how the show affect how Spartace handle their relationship and as @Adines Nugraha said, a few fans also believe that the addition of JSM and YSC will lead to KJK/SJH leaving in the future, but seeing how the fandom reacts sensitively about KJK and SJH especially after the way they were treated by SBS, I personally think it won't happen (at least in the near future). I believe SBS and the production team won't let it happen either even if any of the members want to quit bc it'll ruin RM brand and the international following and we all know the international fans are the only ones keeping RM alive lately.

Trying to see another alternatives, do you think it's possible to announce relationship and get married and be a married couple while still filming the show? Or if they're suddenly outed by media outlets, for example, do you think both of them will stay on the show? I mean, they're not getting any younger. As YJS said, "It'll be great if both of them get married this year."

  3. Also, I don't know what kind of comments caused this post but maybe when it is too much and too inappropriate we can do this for SJH

I wish SJH's ig is managed by her company so she doesn't get to see weird and hurtful comments but I don't think she knows English that much to be able to read those comments.

Idk tho. I didn't think KJK read people's comments too but turned out he got mad when people brought up the military thing.

  4. Tbh I think if they're planning to go far with the show, as in not ending it anytime soon, lovelines should not be their main concern or focus. MC worked for like several early years but started getting repetitive and cheap after the production crew tried to milk it everywhere just because it has loyal following. It started because KG is a natural flirt and SJH responded great by acknowledging the couple thing only on Monday, and they happen to have the right variety chemistry. The loveline helped them both and assure them enough presence in the show especially for the variety rookie KG and was one of the funniest things about RM in the early times but RM kept going on and on for years they no longer know how to work with it. Some viewers got too invested with MC for 7 years and it doesn't even stop even after KG left and got married, so I think it's a big burden for the members involved in the loveline.

I don't really watch any other SK shows so I can't really benchmark but I've seen KJK's lovelines. At first, Lee Hyori and Park Yejin both showed some sort of interest at KJK, that's why the idea of a loveline grew and they also know how to play along with it and I think it worked because the show didn't last long so the loveline equation here and there still seemed fresh and funny. With YEH, it all started with baseless rumor but they also started playing along with it after that. XMan also didn't last long so each and every interaction of them were not boring for the viewers.

With all those lovelines I saw, they all played along, but with LKS-JSM, I honestly don't see them actively putting themselves in the loveline. At the last episode, LKS buying JSM the bracelet was not even aimed to be a romantic gesture (that's just how LKS is, I believe he'd do that for SJH too) and JSM didn't go all shy and lovey dovey either for me, she was just surprised and then bragged about it to the other members without really getting teasing response from YJS and JSJ, but the editing and backsound make it seem like "What is going on with this two?" Even when JSM was telling the story of how LKS slept at her place, YJS said they're not interested in their relationship. So from what I see so far, LKS didn't really show any active action about the loveline, neither did JSM, neither did the other members. The editing just made it seem like something's going on and I don't think sudden difference in their equation will seem tasteful.

Back to the show, RM goes on for 7 years... With MC, some people can't see that the loveline equation was no longer a thing in the show because they still see them together every week and some people just got greedy with it, wanting more and expressing their frustration to people they think are ruining the loveline. No one plays WGM for 7 years, really. Other long shows like 2D1N and IC have all male casts, no? I believe that lovelines are like the lazy shortcut to gain interests but it won't work forever and I think if they want RM to last long they should not rely on it (but the show's trying hard to increase rating so I believe they'll try to make the loveline a thing for awhile depending on the response) If they do try to make it a thing, I hope they will not overdo it because I love LKS-JSM equation that I've seen so far.

Moving along from the LKS-JSM topic, I love that LKS was calling HH at the last episode as if not wanting to disturb KJK and SJH :D

Also, I recently read that IC is YJS's favorite show because he met his wife at the show. We all know KJK's love for RM and JSJ once said that he should meet his future wife through RM. I hope KJK also meets his future wife on the show (preferrably SJH lol)

  5. I think in regards of shipping and lovelines, I find my joy in seeing displayed affection&caring maybe because I consider myself a romantic. I usually ship real people/celebrities after finding out that they're really dating and stop shipping/caring if they've broken up. Spartace is actually the only couple that I ship that is not confirmed to be dating, but I started paying attention to them after seeing those little interactions that somehow prove that they're actually closer than what is shown on the show.

For a show, I think if done well, lovelines can really be interesting. I found myself enjoying some moments of various lovelines even from KJK's and SJH's but maybe that's because I can differentiate their characters on the show with themselves. I see lovelines as I see movies or as I read book, as fictional things aimed to entertain. Even with themselves, for SA for example, I think if they turn out to be dating other people or getting married with other people in the future, I believe I can also differentiate how they really are with how I expect/imagine them to be and will be okay with it.

With variety show, the line between their characters and their real selves are sometimes blurred, maybe that's why a lot of people take what they see on the show too seriously. I think it's a great thing to feel and care deeply about things and it's understandable that being too passionate makes you do too much (like how RM fans and SA fans were so protective and mad at how unfair they were being treated and end up making #FireGongHeeChul a thing) but I personally don't have that much energy to act out my dislike or disappointment, especially about something that I took for granted truly for entertainment purpose that has nothing to do with me directly, for example the private lives of KJK and SJH and my love for Spartace. If it turns out that they don't fit my idea of them (not dating or not being "lovey dovey"), I don't think I have the energy to be mad at them for not being the Spartace I imagined in my head. It's not like they're doing those things for the sole purpose of making my life miserable lol.

You cannot choose what you like or dislike, what you love or hate, and I think it's naive to expect people to love everything and spread love everywhere but I'll never understand the need to go around assuring people why your hatred is justified by making up or imagining things, or to pay attention to the people you hate to look for every single wrong thing, or looking for their social media pages to comment mean and nasty things, and so on. I wish people just focus on the things they like, and move on if they no longer like the things they used to like.

I also consider myself a Running Man fans first. I love how the show used to make me super happy and even if it's no longer how it used to be, I appreciate the members and their effort to continuing the show, even the staffs. I have my favorites but I love all members and their interactions on the show and outside of it. As Spartace shipper, I believe I'll continue to support them together or not and I hope even if they don't end up together they will still be interacting with each other. I hope no fans will make them feel bad about how they choose to live their lives just because it doesn't fit how they imagine it to be. :D

anyone think it is weird that they make the trip so long this time? i couldnt even remember how many eps had it last.

the trip around aside last time, they mixed 1 different topic ep in the middle saying that they afraid it would be boring if 2~3 weeks shows were the same trip/topic/place.

but now? i dont understand whats up with all these plans but they have it all recored in one or two day right? does that mean all the team members will have more time to rest after their trip?

I think the production crew is trying hard to make the show survive. The Global Race is intended to be this giant project welcoming new members, the editing is made detailed and extended, continued in the next episodes, to make sure that there will be viewers at the next episode to improve rating. The rating has also been increasing, anticipating the Japan trip in the end, maybe that's why the project takes too many episodes.

  7. Aaaa I rarely come here lately but it's always so fun to see long analysis and discussions about Spartace. I'm catching up to read em all. Hello to all new shippers (even tho I'm also relatively new)! :D

Also, I'm not sure if there are fans here of American sitcoms but when I was rewatching FRIENDS last March, the way the main couple were caring and their skinship reminded me of SA (they were in an on and off relationship but have deep feelings for each other). This is just a comparison tho. HAHAHAHA

@tunanoona (First, I love your username lol reminding me of that one RM episode when they try so hard to get tuna noona out of the pool. Ah, that was hilarious) If you're talking about Ross&Rachel then there's also one thing that reminds me of SA when I watch them: The way they fight with each other haha. Both couples seem to be so stubborn when they fight lol but that's just my opinion :)

I like SJ as well, i dont know anything about him beside RM, i like him more than JS. Being the oldest one, and with his character, he isnt that active in the game but but he has that "it's ok, i understand" aura. and that ep where he said he would marry his wife again in his next life, i was like "omg, how can someone actually hate this guy (there are RM fan who wish he will be replaced), he is sweet" and most important, he takes care of younger member too, i also think that he is close with JH as well.

what i really like about JSJ (beside that he's secretly support our SA) is that his loyalty toward his wife.

in episode 18, when the male members asked if they prefer JH or Lizzy, he's the only one who choose neither JH or Lizzy, and choose his wife instead.

and whenever he's asked about his marriage life, he always said that he's really happy, it's almost felt like a sin he felt like that

a trully family guy, someone i looked up to and i would like to be when i'm married in the future

Yaaay I love seeing people giving love for JSJ. For me, I forget the episode, but YJS once said, "The funny thing about JSJ is he always get excited when there are beautiful female guests but in the end he always picks SJH to be his partner"... I also notice that and I really love him for taking care of SJH like that. Aside from the variety calculation for team assignment (the rest of the members know how to make guests stand out while JSJ the weakest one might not be able to get them enough screen time), I think JSJ feels most comfortable working with SJH. Also, I really appreciate him apologizing to SJH about making fun of her on the SJH-special episode. People often say he doesnt really bring anything to the show and just get lucky to be a member but I personally really like him.

From today's episode. I haven't watched the raw ep, but it looks like the yellow team's mission is eating (again??).

Sigh :( I think the production crew is trying to make RM to a travelling/eating show because it is what's popular right now in South Korea (I think? Bc I notice that several shows with high rating lately are the ones which they travel and eat...) but I personally find that sort of concept boring, maybe because the old RM was too action-like. But it's understandable that they're trying to do what will attract viewers. I also notice that they're trying to accomodate global fans (?) by inviting viewers to recommend a place to visit. I just wish they still incorporate the name tag ripping games... I miss it so much.

I watched the live today. After they've been separated into two groups, the yellow team has only showed up for less than 5 mins and I have expected that to happen since seeing the fan cam in Japan.

Oh well, I was expecting HH to tease our SA like last episode and got them screentime :( or SA to dominate HH and make him do stuffs to show his gratitude for being excluded :( Is the Japan trip continues next episode? If so, I hope they show more of the three of them... but if not, at least they're having fun in Japan together :)

  8. I personally never like it when they get way too over the top with their fighting banter, be it with KJK and SJH or any members and guests... like when they stripped KJK, when HH grabbed his friend's groin, when they ganged up on JSJ, now when KJK hit SJH, and any other occasions. I just don't find it funny, but I guess there are a lot of people who find it funny so maybe once in awhile it is needed. (Please note that the VJs and members were laughing so maybe it was not as aggressive as it was on screen)

I guess him having this image as a big strong commending guy make it understandable for fans to be protective of their favourite members' well-being when he gets physical with his bullying character and it's also understandable that his fans get frustrated with people putting him in the villain spot but laughing if he's the one being ganged up by the members and not seeing his dedication to the show. For me, it is important to see the show as it is, which is a variety show intended to bring entertainment.

With that being said, as a fan of the show, I completely agree with @athoughtcloud1 that he really is lost at what to do with his character to a point that I feel really bad for him I kinda wish he quits to focus on better things (but he is stupidly loyal to this show so I think that won't happen). I truly hope he finds the perfect character not by trying to push himself to be that old character but also by trying new things and interactions, especially now that they got new members. Another thing, as a SA shipper, I completely understand if other shippers who are more of SJH fans than KJK got upset to see him like that. No matter how much I try to explain that it is only a variety show, if you got upset/hurt about the scene you may not want to care to see other perspectives. That's okay too if you stop shipping him with her but I hope people can be civil and rational about this instead of leaving nasty comments about him everywhere.

I think SJH more than anything knows that he'd never do that only for the sake of hurting her, just like she knows that other male members love her despite anything they say/do for the show. Those times KJK wronged her on the screen, like that time he hit her with pillow in one hit, and that time he pulled her side hair, he always apologised to her right away, so I wish people also put that into consideration when they want to judge him based on this one scene. (I remember one guest said that KJK was being really aggressive when they were on RM then he apologised off-screen even if he didn't have to, so there's that). Also, the PD-note picture which showed them hugging side-by-side was from a scene where they picked the destination country after this whole games so I assume that they make up on screen (hopefully??) or at least it is a prove that things are fine between them after the so-called 'fight', as it has always been.

    (This got looong, sorry lol)

On the other hand, I'm just really confused with RM these days. They add new casts, they change concepts, they alter members' characters; they keep on making so much change that I'm near to forgetting what RM's original taste is about.

I totally get where you're coming from. Tbh, I also spend a lot of times expecting the show to go back to where it was before but it is pretty much impossible. I hate changes but holding on to the past never bring good things so I guess we'll just have to move on and enjoy this new Running Man with new members and new PDs and new types of games (or NOT enjoy, it's up to the viewers, we can always stop watching). I think they were struggling to keep up with the expectation and fame of the old Running Man but when the drama happens and they were about to be axed I feel like the production crew was like, "Oh well. Nothing to lose now, might as well do what we think is best," and I personally think it's getting better. It's nice to see the rating increases. It's nice to see SJH back to her character and get more screen times.

ALSO! I really love SJH-JSM interactions! Maybe that's just me but it's nice to see SJH taking care of JSM and to see JSM relying on her. I love it when she held JSM's hand when JSM was about to get a massage last episode and I love it when she called JSM to be on her team with HH and KJK on this episode. I think it'll be interesting to have an episode where they're like the spy and beat the other male members lol. I didn't know if it was the editing, but I didn't see much of the sisters interaction with Lizzy, so I find it really cute to see SJH and JSM together because I'm a sucker for brotherly/sisterly relationships, just like how I love Uri Hyung Nae Dongsaeng.

  9. Gary liked a lot of SA posts and also some SJHxChen Bolin posts. I think he was trying to prepare some hardcore MC fans for the news, to assure them that he feels nothing for SJH in a romantic way and hopefully make them support whoever SJH end up with that won't be Kang Gary. I'm so happy for him. The rest of the unmarried members, especially the older two (:P) please also share some good news this year!

  10. No but I'm a new shipper and I'm honestly shocked lol. I have always liked the show and the members but I was not as trash as I am now so I didnt really keep up with their activities and fan meetings. I've always thought KJK is the second closest guy friend of SJH from RM after LKS but why is their closeness and vibes so different from Kwangmong? Haha tbh if they're not dating they're not really faultless in making us have all these theories and suspicions.

Like @athoughtcloud1, I was also expecting a KG interaction with the members but now that I think about it it's great that they didn't do that. I feel bad for KG bc some of his fans keep linking everything about him back to RM while he's so much more than that, especially now that he's no longer a member. Letting KG go is important for the growth of the show so I think it's great that they focused on the members. I love that the host mentioned KJK's role in persuading all members and tried to cheer SJH up. Also, my most non-SA favorite moment was seeing JSJ being so happy for the surprise they throwed for his birthday.

  11. AWWW look at all those fans holding on the signs to wish our JSJ happy birthday! He seems so touched I think he's tearing up :') Look at the cake! Race start! JSJ is sitting on his thorne at the very top! I was feeling bad for him, spending his birthday working at another country away from his family but now I'm so glad to see him spending it with his RM family and all the fans. I love him so much, he deserves this and the world. I'm glad he's not giving up on doing RM like he planned on earlier episodes. :'D Happiest birthday Ji Suk Jin!!!

  12. Whoops mine got posted late lol sorry >_<

Also, my delusional self needs to add this: I always love to see JSJ's reactions to every situation bc I believe that he sucks at acting (lol) and his reactions are often so genuine. Looking at him being so awkward when HH and LKS starts teasing KJK-SJH, and also seeing him giving HH a look and a nudge after HH told them to kiss, I really can't help but feeling suspicious haha.

This was an episode with a great beginning and wonderful ending. The middle portions were a bit meh for me. While I knew Haha would rescue JH since he knows it is something she is really scared of, poor JH seemed scared out of her wits. Felt especially bad for JK and KS since they got too many penalties one after the other on one of the coldest days of the year. But then they got to throw a surprise party for Haha, so it turned out to be okay in the end. All the same, I want that next episode where the staff gift the members for all their hard work as they advertised in the end. Breaks my heart to see them having to do so many difficult missions in such extreme weather conditions.

What I loved about the episode were the concept, the member interactions and the beautiful ending. The ending especially was really sweet, funny and touching. Some of the editing was on point. The sad music when Haha takes one of the hardest decisions of his life, the captions 'smile so that tears don't fall' and then the surprise in the air with the footage of Haha's interview where he felt that his episode should have a twist and then kid Haha running away in embarrassment (just like in episode 15)! While they highlighted Haha's indecisiveness, what struck me was his saying he is a pacifist. For me, he is one of the members that binds the team together in that he has a great equation with each member of the team. That Haha is great friends with JK and Gary says a lot about how he is able to develop close equations with people with really different personalities (when you add the MC awkwardness to the mix, it is an achievement). Also, Haha is a member who is selfless in that he doesn't have a problem stepping back to let another member shine. I have also noticed that Haha knows when to step in to resolve a slightly heated situation. I was watching episode 199 recently. During one of the mini-missions with Park Ji Sung, JK is slower in his mission which is to dribble the ball between the cut outs of famous soccer players as a result of which they fail in one of their attempts. JK is usually touchy when it comes to his inconsistent soccer skills and to be fair, his mission was among the hardest in that game. So when the members criticise JK, especially JS, JK gets a bit heated up and there is an argument going on. Then Haha suddenly steps in blaming PJS for failing to get his kick right and picks a childish fight with him which helps in defusing the situation. Again, something similar occurs in episode 142. JH seems slightly out of sorts that day (she looks a bit lost in the opening and is uncharacteristically sharp in her words with Gary that day). JH has a lower threshold of pain when it comes to accupressure mats and when they have to do a long jump on the accupressure mat, complains about how it hurts her feet. JS then picks a fight with her telling her it is because she is hurting the same spots again (I sometimes get the feeling JS means something else there). JH also gets slightly heated up and the members look kind of awkward. Haha then deliberately steps on to the mat drawing attention to himself and cuts that exchange short. When JH is about to start her run up, Lee Bo Young, the female guest, who is pretty competitive and bearing the pain reasonably well, starts advising JH about how to benumb her feet before making the jump. LBY only means to help JH, but maybe it was not the right time. Haha then steps in scolding LBY for advising JH and when they create a ruckus, JK scolds both of them (it is quite surprising to see JK scold the female guest on his own team, so I guess everybody was worried about JH that day). When JH finally makes her jump, Haha encourages her shouting out 'my dream is to be more like you'. Aww! So Haha is important to the team in ways that are not as obvious. In every group, you have people like him who don't try to stand out as much as some of the more assertive members, but they are the ones who hold the team together and once they are not there, the cohesion of the team won't be like before.

Coming to this episode, if you think about it, it is not that difficult a choice for Haha between YJS and JK. JK has just got to eat some unhealthy food while YJS' mission is definitely harder (though JS isn't as scared of height these days as he used to be earlier). But then it is a hard choice for Haha to make coz it is JK, someone he is really close to in RL. You can see their closeness in how it is to JK Haha turns to find out what he should do when he is given the unenviable task of choosing between himself and the other 3 members for the bungee jumping mission. JK knows Haha will listen to him which is why he keeps on insisting that Haha should choose himself (so as to make him go up the crane for the surprise party). When Haha tears up, JK also seemed to be touched and worried about him. It was cute to see him touch Haha's ear and pull him close. I  felt so happy when JK called out 'nae dongsaeng' when Haha came out with the diaper-shaped cake (been a long while since I heard that) and then nae dongsaeng used uri hyung's shoulder to cry in relief.

Whoa if I could like this again and again I would. I feel like Haha is so underrated... A lot of fans see that RM loves YJS-LKS the most and got mad for the rest of the members, especially KJK-SJH after the mess happened, while the weakest link JSJ always have people rooting for him to break 'the weakest' title, but sometimes not a lot of people are mad for HH.

I really agree with this, he always silently supports the show and the members, especially as one of the (outdoor) variety veterans along with YJS and KJK. YJS always lead the show because he's just that great and KJK's support for the show was shown in his willingness to take the 'strongest' role, but HH is also so good at carrying the show and the small moments that makes an episode great. This struck me when I see the Bad Santa episode. I feel like HH did his homework about RM and its weakness and fans' complaints. I love how he purposely led the members to pick KJK-SJH, JSJ, and himself to do the games to make them have time to shine, and we saw that the episode turned out great.

I just love all the members so much. I was skeptical about the show continuing because I fear that it won't last long but now I'm glad the show has a second chance. I hope it will create quality episodes and gain viewers again.

  14. Man I'm in one of my feels right now and I just want to say I'm really glad to see KJK have other shows beside Running Man :( I remember on episode 295 (?) when the members tell each other their problems and insecurities, KJK said that he thought about leaving RM but he knew he won't be invited to other shows if he gives this up :( I was surprised but really glad to see him immediately have 2 other shows when RM was ending. I feel like other stations straight up tried to snatch him from SBS or something. Good for him, really, I hope he knows how much he's worth now. In my opinion, he really doesn't need RM but I'm glad he still believes in the show and wants to continue.

  15. @Sarita Ramchandani YJS said in Mudo and also on previous Running Man episode that he plans to spend more time with his family and also wants to have another kid. I think not just him, the rest of the members also have their own plans because they thought RM is ending. Even KJK immediately have 2 other shows.

I think the CP said that KJK plays a big part because he's the first one that the CP approached about continuing RM, so he's the first one who knew. Knowing how he is, unable to stay still and loves to be involved in everything (lol), I have no doubt that he really talked to each and every one of the members about continuing the show.

Accordig to the lastest news from naver, JK played a big part in persuading others to continue running man. The news reported that Nam Seung Yong first found JK and had one to one conversation with him. After careful consideration, JK decided that he will continue filming and forgive the production team. At the same time, KJK and the production team will work together to persuade other other members.

Now I get why Tiny tweeted, "We win!"

It baffles me how much he loves RM. I feel like this show is the first variety show in which he's considered the leader (along with YJS) and maybe that's why he feels responsible for it. I always hate how the production team shaped his character as simply the strong one/everyone's target (like in the alien episode) because I feel like it's so one dimentional, while his character in FO and XMan showed more of his wit... but LKS said all the time that KJK was the one who purposely took on the role to let the variety newbies more stand out and I think it's kinda unfair that a lot of viewers hate him just bc of his role. The production crew really needs to stop with the obvious love fest for YJS and LKS and please start appreciating the other members :(

The rating IS UNFAIR. I just dont understand, this ep is comparable to some very good ep in the past. Korean - why do you betray RM? :(

P.S: I don't mind Spartace gets more interaction or hint onscreen, but just bit by bit , too much at one would create a lot of antifans. All the irrational war between Gary fans and KJK fans are  not worth it, after all we re RM fans.

@coffeecoffee I get what you're saying and tbh I agree with you :)

For me, I'd love to see more of SA onscreen because they're my favorites but what I think should be noted is that Running Man should really really really try to fresh things up. It's so tiring to see the same old combination because everything is so predictable... That is why, for me, all I really want is to see new combination on air. I'm tired of seeing the unlucky ones being unlucky, the members ganging up on KJK, LKS betrays everyone, and such. The problem with RM rating going downhill is because people in SK are already too familiar with how the show works. I think the crew should try new combination to create a fresh dynamic (I was excited to see KJK-JSJ and HH-SJH on the Bromance episode and I think we can see how they tried their best to play the bromance role, like how KJK acting like a brat to JSJ and how HH scold SJH for playing skateboard. Unfortunately, the crew once again focused too much on showing off the guests) and that's why I also agree with the idea of adding new members.

A lot of korean articles about Running Man always have good comments like "RM fighting!" and such but they seriously need to start watching the show again to help the show.......
