  5. itemprop="name"DRAMA CLUB: My Lovable Girl Episode 6 Recap

    Oct. 6, 2914

    MLG_cover.png

Welcome back to the My Lovable Girl Drama Club! So much drama is going on! We've got a solo on its way, new producers are paving their career paths, and so much more! Let's get started, shall we?

June: The pace is good but I seriously can't wait until Se Na finds out the truth about her sister and Hyun Wook.

Firnlambe: I'm loving how things are really starting to pick up. I just wish Hyun Wook would man up and confess already.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.06.52 AM.png

    There's a first for everything

Deeno: Awe! He’s cute and trying to live his dream and protect his mom. I refuse to believe that he’s a second lead.

Firnlambe: Oh I know he's a second lead . . . I foresee them being REALLY good friends after this is all over and done though.

June: I'm really having second male lead syndrome. But I agree, I can totally see them just being really good friends. Sighs.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.14.24 AM.png

    That jerk!

Deeno: Ah! Finally some answers. We were wondering about this, but then it’s followed by this another case of bad advice from Hyun Wook’s friend. The guy doesn’t know what’s best for his friend, but may this could give a step up for Shi Woo! Ok, go ahead and give your horrid advice.

Firnlambe: As much as this made happy, what with some newfound answers, it made me extremely annoyed at the same time because it didn't give us ENOUGH answers . . . And we're still left hanging at the end of the day.

June: Same. I still feel like there is a lot of things that are being left out in the dark. Just tell us already! I'm tired of this waiting game.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.16.54 AM.png

But will he actually kiss her?

    Deeno: Oh just kiss already!

Firnlambe: If they do end up kissing, which I hope doesn't happen, I hope that it's not a forced kiss from Shi Woo . . . That would be most unfortunate.

June: If they do kiss, I really hope both of them actually want to do it. It would be most unfortunate if it was forced.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.18.45 AM.png

Got ya there board of people!

Deeno: Down with the brownnosers. I like that Hyun Wook tricked them, but from his view I’d be a bit worried about the future of the company.

Firnlambe: Agreed. Hyun Wook needs to take into consideration that more is riding on Shi Woo's title track than one lonely girl.

June: I love that he's really helping out Se Na but I agree there is a clot at stake with this solo debut.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.23.23 AM.png

    Don't be selfish!

Deeno: I think I root a bit more for Shi Woo because he’s also the underdog. Hyun Wook has problems, but he’s the president of a company and doesn’t have to worry about making a living. He gained all the fame he’d ever need in this life and now he’s just toying around with Se Na’s life under the guise of helping her.

Firnlambe: Aside from the Shi Woo comments, I would be inclined to agree with you . . . Except Hyun Wook honestly is thinking this is the best course of action. So that makes it easier for me to doc him points. He's still honestly believing that what he's doing is helpful.

Which is in and of itself aggravating to me . . . . How he STILL can't see that his devotion to her is causing some major issues is beyond me.

June: It's just K-dramas at this finest. It's like he kind of needs some type of wake up call. Honestly, I just hope this solo doesn't fail.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.26.05 AM.png

    Now, now ladies play nice

Deeno: I don’t know if Hyun Wook is smart or an idiot. Is he acting this way to push Se Na away. If so, he’s doing a great job. Though if he really wanted to push her away he could just you know, tell her the truth!!!

Firnlambe: I have a feeling that he's staying to realize his growing affections towards her, and so he is trying to push her away . . . But I agree that simply telling Se Na that truth would be the best form of action at this point in time.

June: But telling the truth would be too easy in k-drama land. You know they got to stretch it out as long as possible.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.26.56 AM.png

    Curiosity at it's finest

Deeno: Se Na, let the old awkward interferers date in peace. You have a nice young man waiting to sing your songs.

Firnlambe: Let the 2014 Awkward Awards begin!!!

June: This part was so awkward. Like they can't even define their friendship. lol

    Screen Shot 2014-10-05 at 12.29.57 AM.png

Deeno: Ah, the requisite makeover scene. I’ll just pretend that that’s Shi Woo in the picture.

Firnlambe: Well Hae Yoon just became public enemy number one in Se Na’s book . . . This is sooooo going to come back to bite them in the butt.

June: I see you, Etude House product placement! Now this is where Hae Yoon is probably going to start her master plans to destroy Se Na. I'm calling it now.

Let the romance games begin! Now that Shi Woo's solo is in the works, do you all think it'll be a win or do you think he's going to fail with it? Also it seems like out two leads are somewhat getting closer but Hyun Wook is starting to push her away. Do you all think he'll come to his senses and tell Se Na the truth? Comment below and tell us your thoughts!

  6. itemprop="name"Rain explains to CNN why Korean dramas are so popular internationally

    Oct. 6,2014

    Screen_shot_2014-10-06_at_5.28.27_PM.png

As the Hallyu wave continues to roll over the world, the spread of South Korean media has increasingly come to the attention of major media outlets. Recently, CNN visited the set of Rain's new drama My Lovable Girl to ask him why international fans are falling in love with Korean dramas. Watch what he had to say!

I think Rain is totally on point! Viewers are attracted to the kindness, loveliness, and (how cute was he when he explained it?) the sexiness of the male leads.

Watch Rain prove his own point in the latest episode of My Lovable Girl:

    itemprop="name"DramaFever Weekly Top 10 for September 29 to October 5, 2014

    Oct. 6, 2014

    Rain_Krystal_MLG.jpg

There's definitely romance in the air. We have romance with the music men, the blade man, the singles, execs, unusual roommates, an angel in high school, and let's not forget young hotties who are heirs and one single alien from the stars. Allow me to unfold the new Top 10 list that showcases the favorite romances from DramaFever.

My Lovable Girl continues to shine. Rain has treated Krystal as a young girl he needs to protect, but wow, in a Cinderella moment, he finally sees that she's all grown up as a young woman. On the other hand, I like the interaction between L and Krystal too. Hmm... I can't decide. The show has progressed on a nice pace, so I'll trust the scriptwriter goddess to bring more delights.

  11. class="entry-title single-title"“My Lovely Girl” Episode 7 Preview W/English Subs

    October 3, 2014

    MLGPV7 header

It looks like things might ramp up next week in the romance department for Hyun Wook and Se-Na, which I imagine will be the final straw to shove Hae-Yoon into evil second-lead territory. I’m still finding the chemistry between Rain and Krystal believable and easy-breezy, I love it! For me, it’s an easy choice. I wouldn’t have been attracted to a boy like Shi Woo when I was 20 either and can easily see why Hyun Wook is more appealing so I get it.

    Episode 7 Preview:

Hyun Wook: The song flop wasn’t your fault so he said not to worry.
HyunWook: It was a great song that got him excited.
    Se-Na: What’s this?
    Shi Woo: Accept it.
Shi Woo: If you don’t accept it, I’ll throw it away.
    Hyun Wook: Shi Woo!
Shi Woo: I was about to apologize.
Hyun Wook: You should do it right.
Shi Woo: I”m not playing around.
Hyun Wook: Stop being interested in Yoon Se Na.
Se-Na: I don’t think I can call you “Ahjussi” anymore.
    Hyun Wook: What’s up?
    Se-Na: I missed you.

It also looks like Shi Woo will acknowledge his growing feelings for Se-Na which means both guys will be chasing her? I’ll admit I didn’t like Hyun Wook telling Shi Woo to stop liking Se-Na but only because I believe the girl can take care of herself.

class="entry-title single-title" “My Lovely Girl” Week 3 – Let The Romance Begin! MLGWK3 header

Hyun Wook sees the tears on Se-Na’s face once he removes the dog head but she pretends there’s something in her eyes. Because she has big eyes, he wouldn’t understand since his eyes are small. Hyun Wook finally smiles at this. She gives him a USB disk, there’s a song on it he should listen to.

    MLG53.jpg
Once she leaves, Hyun Wook gets a phone call and heads back to AnA. They’re all gathered around the conference table when he arrives, one of them explains: Producer Seo received investment money to open his own agency and was promised CEO if he brought Infinite Power along. One of the other directors complains about Jae Young stabbing them in the back while another wants to drag the members families in and threaten them.

Hyun Wook finally speaks up, does anyone know where Shi Woo is? No one has seen him. The same bitchy director snarks that it’s a waste of time to worry about him when they should be worried about getting the other members back. Hyun Wook turns to this jerk and asks what he’s going to do if Shi Woo tries to harm himself? He makes it clear finding Shi Woo is the number one priority.

    MLG55.jpg
He orders Shi Woo’s road manager to visit his home but Shi Woo’s Mom is at the dorm, she hasn’t heard from him. They send her home but as she’s walking towards home, she collapses. Shi Woo sees this, he was hiding and watching for her. He places a call to her phone and tells her he’s fine. *sniff*

    MLG54.jpg
Shi Woo meets lead singer Rae-Heon to ask if they’re really leaving? Rae-Heon is hateful, saying he can’t wait for Shi Woo to finally realize how insignificant he is. Without the other 3, he’s nothing. He brags that they’re on their way to Bali to rest before releasing a new album. Oh and he’s done with Ra-Eum too, he was just using her to richard simmons Shi Woo off. What a little richard simmons. I hope this album they’re releasing is a major flop.

Hae-Yoon brings Hyun Wook the news that Shi Woo called his Mom but then turned his phone off. He again orders them to find this kid and stay with him 24/7. She hesitates before telling Hyun Wook she knows where Jae Young lives. Hyun Wook wonders if she wants him to beg that guy to return or bring Infinite Power back? She tries to say they were friends, he can’t turn his back on a friend! Pffftttt. Hyun Wook tells her they were never friends (exactly).

    MLG56.jpg
Hae-Yoon asks why and then asks if it was because of So-Eun? Hyun Wook sharply calls her name and then asks her to leave because he wants to be alone. I’m still wondering why Hyun Wook allows these so-called “friends” to talk to him this way, they all treat him like crap and say things to his face they have no right to say. I don’t understand why he lets them get away with it.

Once he’s alone, he listens to Se-Na’s song. The next day, the idol wanna-be’s are talking when Se-Na walks in. They blame her for this mess but she fights back. Do they really believe she has the ability to force Producer Seo out and break up Infinite Power? ROFL, exactly! They’re being stupid.

    MLG57.jpg
Hyun Wook gives Se-Na his opinion on her song, wondering how she thought it could be Infinite Power’s next title? She looks downcast at this but he tells her the melody was good. When she looks up, he says the arrangement sucked though – he could barely stand to listen to it. He’s totally messing with her but it’s cute! He orders her to re-do it asap.

Se-Na approaches Brown Bear about working on the arrangement but he’s depressed, he can’t believe Producer Seo left. To cheer him up, Se-Na buys ice-cream. He thinks out loud how to get revenge on that guy. Se-Na wonders how to do a better arrangement. They’re both pitiful. (LOL)

    MLG58.jpg
CEO Lee whispers to someone on the phone to make sure mouths are shut otherwise AnA will fold. (Huh?) Hee-Sun sneaks up on him but he catches her and hangs up. She tells him to quickly recover so he can return to work, this mess happened because he’s not there. She meets Hyun Wook to ask who his Father’s new woman is? He doesn’t know and he has no interest either.

Hyun Wook almost gets into an accident and then has a series of dizzy spells, which force him to pull over. Hae-Yoon waits outside Jae Young’s place to ask if the reason he’s doing all of this is because of her? *snort* He says it’s only the beginning. She reminds him that he can’t use the Infinite Power name, AnA owns the trademark. Jae Young thinks they can, he has something on CEO Lee’s and is eager to see what Hyun Wook does next. She yells that he’s not in love with her, he just hates Hyun Wook and has an inferiority complex.

    MLG59.jpg
He’s furious, it took him 12 years to get to his current position, Hyun Wook left for 3 years and comes back to take over because his Father is CEO. Plus he stole Jae Young’s love, Hae-Yoon should understand that. This guy is such an richard simmons, I wonder how can he stand looking in a mirror.

The Attorney announces they should enforce Infinite Power’s contract, terminate trademark usage and force them to take responsibility for damages. One of the directors wants to sue for 3 times the contract amount, if they push aggressively, he believes they’ll come crawling back. Hyun Wook walks into the meeting to say they’re not going to do that – they’re going to just let them go.

Everyone gasps in shock and the jerk director demands they call CEO Lee to get his opinion. Hyun Wook agrees and dials his Father’s number. Once he answers, Hyun Wook tells him he wants to let Infinite Power go but the other directors want his approval. If this continues, he’s out. CEO Lee agrees to let Hyun Wook handle everything. Hyun Wook says nothing will happen until they find Shi Woo but orders the development team to work on new concepts for Shi Woo and Ra-Eum immediately. YES! Shi Woo is going solo! *dances happily* Oh, I hope this works out!

When one of them asks who is going to write the songs, Hae-Yoon jumps in to say Hyun Wook will. He’s the best Producer/Song Writer around, who else would do it? He reminds her that he’s only at AnA as the CEO and has no intention of writing music again and demands she talk to him outside. She’s seeing the headlines: Producer Lee Hyun Wook makes a comeback. He said he wouldn’t make music again but this is an emergency, it might be the best way to scare Jae Young off. She suggests he ignore Jae Young’s threat.

Hyun Wook stares at her, then asks if she knew about that threat? Obviously she did, saying he should have talked to her about it. He listens to her babble on before he finally snaps. When did a Director get so involved in the CEO’s business? Did his Father also discuss his affairs with her?

    MLG60.jpg
He refuses, he won’t allow her to get that involved in his life. Whether he writes or not, works things out with his Father or not, or how long he stays – she’s only his subordinate. He gets up in her face and tells her not to do anything for him anymore. She cries as he goes back inside. I would feel sorry for her but for goodness sakes – it’s been TWELVE YEARS! It’s past time to let it go, right?

Se-Na takes delivery of a keyboard, her friend Joo-Hong guesses that Hyun Wook sent it. Se-Na phones, why would he do this? He reminds her he needs that song right away. And providing her with this equipment is no different that providing dorm rooms for idol candidates.

She takes a selfie but changes her mind, going out for ice-cream instead. She buys one for him and goes to his house. Hyun Wook is meeting supposed friend Sung-Jin who tells him he met Hae-Yoon and she was crying. He again starts pushing Hyun Wook about Hae-Yoon, does he know when she started liking him? Way before he fell in love with So-Eun, he hopes Hyun Wook falls for her.

    MLG61.jpg
Ugh, this is why I don’t like this guy and don’t think he’s Hyun Wook’s friend. He doesn’t seem to give a crap how Hyun Wook feels and would rather force his own opinion. All he ever does is talk about how Hae-Yoon feels or how much she likes Hyun Wook, does he ever ask how Hyun Wook feels? And so what if someone likes you, are you obligates to like them back? So f’ing ridiculous.

Se-Na gets a call from Shi Woo, he wants her to bring his hat to the hotel. He also wants her to bring a pizza, she shouldn’t tell anyone and hurry over. (LOL) When she arrives, he starts snarfing down the pizza, she asks him to reimburse her. She notices he’s starving, why didn’t he order room service? Because no one is supposed to know where his is, he’s hiding out.

He lays down but she demands he get his wallet to pay her. He flips over because his wallet is in his back pocket. LMAO, like she would dare to grab his richard simmons and get his wallet! He admits he only called because he’s depressed. He gives her the money, demanding his change but then grabs her hand and literally begs her to come back. Awww, this poor kid.

    MLG62.jpg
The next day, Se-Na tells Hyun Wook where Shi Woo is. She takes him to the hotel but he won’t let her come up with him, it’s between the CEO and his artist. He storms into Shi Woo’s room, everyone’s been worried and he angrily asks if Shi Woo isn’t worried about his future? He snaps for Shi Woo to come with him and starts to walk out when Shi Woo says he’s scared. *tears up*

    MLG63.jpg
Hyun Wook asks if he’s angry with the other three members? He should be, Hyun Wook himself is very angry with Producer Seo Jae Young. It makes him determined to win, by proving himself. Shi Woo should do the same, as a singer on stage with a great song. Shi Woo wonders if that means he’s going solo? Hyun Wook is thinking in that direction but it depends on Shi Woo. He knows the other side holds better cards. Shi Woo has 2 choices: stop being a singer or go solo. He gives Shi Woo two days to think about it.

    MLG64.jpg
Hyun Wook tells Se-Na to answer Shi Woo’s phone calls, he needs comfort. When she admits she felt sorry for him last night, Hyun Wook raises an eyebrow to say the two of them must be close. (LMAO) She doesn’t think so but he wonders why Shi Woo contacted her if they’re not close. She wonders if they got closer while working on the guide? Dork, who would know but you? Hyun Wook tells her to answer the calls but she’s NOT to come to the hotel. ROFL!

The Attorney reports to CEO Lee how much money AnA lost, he wants to sell some of his stock but is reminded he gave 5% to Producer Seo. If he loses more shares, he’ll lose his management rights. Damn! Who has all the stock? The Attorney also tells him that his wife, Hee-Sun is preparing for divorce. When Hee-Sun returns with Min-A, he sends Min-A inside and then snaps at Hee-Sun for doing this behind his back. She blames everything on him and his women. Amen to that.

Hae-Yoon has a feast prepared for the idol candidates, telling them to work hard. She wants them to get along with Se-Na since she’s staying on with the song-writing team. Se-Na watches as Hae-Yoon gets up to go outside. Hyun Wook is waiting by his car and berates her for not answering her phone. UGH, NO! *facepalm* She asks him to leave her alone for today but he apologizes.

    MLG65.jpg
It’s not that he doesn’t want to write music, it’s that he can’t – he has tinnitus, which is severe ringing in the ears. Once it starts, it can go on for hours and makes his head feel like it’s going to explode. He can’t write music, he can’t even listen to music. He didn’t want to tell anyone. Hae-Yoon moves forward and hugs him, crying…which is right when Se-Na walks out and sees them.

The next morning, Shi Woo remembers Rae-Heon’s insults and Hyun Wook’s words about better cards. He turns on his phone and finds a message from Se-Na offering to buy pizza. He calls, happy she saved his number. She offers to hang up and erase it. Ahahaha, love it.

She can’t visit, she needs to finish the new arrangement and wants someone to hear it. He wonders if it’s him and tells her to send the file when she’s done. She does and then heads over to AnA, calling Hyun Wook. He’s too busy to talk. Shi Woo also heads to AnA.

In his office, Hyun Wook listens to Ra-Eum: she wants to decide her own concept. And Shi Woo should be the one to make up for losing Infinite Power. Hyun Wook asks about Rae-Heon, she doesn’t want to talk. She demands they schedule a photo shoot…in Europe and leaves. Hae-Yoon is exasperated, Hyun Wook thinks Ra-Eum needs comforting since Rae-Heon broke up with her. Hae-Yoon demands he have dinner with her, giggles and walks out. SEE? I told you, now it’s worse!

    MLG66.jpg
Se-Na finds Hyun Wook and they listen to her song. He closes his eyes and Se-Na watches him, remembering their special times together. Crud, I hate that she fell first. Shi Woo arrives at AnA and looks for Se-Na. Se-Na wants Hyun Wook’s opinion on the song but before he can answer, Hae-Yoon calls out, asking what they’re doing? She expresses an interest in hearing the song too.

    MLG67.jpg
Nope, Se-Na’s not about to let that happen, grabs the music player and starts to leave. Which is when Shi Woo shows up. He walks up to Se-Na and asks why she keeps making his heart flutter? The older couple stare at the young ‘uns but it’s Shi Woo who can’t pull his eyes from Se-Na. He tells Hyun Wook he hasn’t decided yet, he’s only here to talk to Se-Na and drags her out. They go to a karaoke room, he explains her song has inspired his desire to sing again.

    MLG68.jpg
During dinner, Hae-Yoon slides dishes towards Hyun Wook that are good for his ears and harps on about how compatible they are. I can’t…

Shi Woo learns his Mother is harassing Rae-Heon’s Mother, begging her to talk her son into allowing Shi Woo back into Infinite Power. He heads over to drag her away, Se-Na goes with him. When he angrily yells at his Mother, Se-Na tells him to stop and gently offers to put Mom in a taxi. Shi Woo’s Mother begs Se-Na to take care of her son.

Se-Na confronts Shi Woo and learns he’s been the bread-winner of his family, they’re his burden. She’s disappointed for the first time but doesn’t fully explain that she has no family. Shi Woo leaves, Se-Na phones Hyun Wook to apologize that she let Shi Woo out of her sight. Hyun Wook isn’t worried, he goes back to the office with Hae-Yoon to wait.

    MLG69.jpg
At the office, he plays a tablet game, Hae-Yoon slides over to learn how to play but when Hyun Wook touches her hands, she gets all sparkly eyed and nervous. Just as he expected, Shi Woo shows up to announce his decision: he wants to go solo. Hyun Wook smiles and tells him to rest.

    MLG70.jpg
On his way home, he sees Se-Na sitting on a bench and approaches to give her the good news. Hyun Wook teases her for being happy, was she that worried about Shi Woo? She deadpans she was worried about someone else. More cute banter back and forth between them, he believes Shi Woo only returned because of her. She says Shi Woo annoys the heck outta her, he’s strange. LOL at the looks he gives her every now and then, like she’s cray-cray.

    MLG71.jpg
Joo-Hong shows up with her boyfriend, they invite Hyun Wook over for beer. Hyun Wook’s face turns somber when the girls bring up Se-Na’s dead sister, her Mom died shortly after. Se-Na mentions her sister’s boyfriend didn’t come to the funeral and both girls call him a jerk. When Se-Na passes out, Hyun Wook tenderly pushes hair from her face and stares. Drinking with Sung-Jin, he wonders if he’ll ever be able to make her understand what happened back then.

Shi Woo faces reporters to announce he’s going solo. Hyun Wook discusses the good response with his team and they move forward to talk about concept and song. Hyun Wook has a song in mind *heh* but it’s not ready yet. He wants Shi Woo to go head-to-head with Infinite Power. Erm, why am I not getting a good feeling about that?

    MLG72.jpg
Hyun Wook tells Black Bear to work on the song arrangement and tells Se-Na to re-write the lyrics from a male perspective. Shi Woo works with Sung-Jin on his vocals but it’s obvious he’s been practicing too much, Sung Jin tells him to rest. Hyun Wook confronts his Father again, little sister Min-A has suspicions about her parents marriage. Hyun Wook advises he keep it from her or he’ll lose his daughter too.

    MLG73.jpg
Se-Na’s confused about the whole “male perspective” thing and questions Shi Woo. He gets thisclsoe to her face but he’s the one it bothers, which is hilarious. She asks how he felt when he started seeing Ra-Eum? LMAO! He refuses to answer, she keeps hounding him. Okay, that was adorable too.

They listen to the final song, Se-Na watches Hyun Wook’s face for a reaction. When it’s over, he smiles and announces he plans to sell it. During the next meeting, the directors listen to various songs until one of them brings up the song Hyun Wook was thinking of – is that one ready? Hyun Wook plays it and they all like it. But they all believe Hyun Wook is the one who wrote it. When he finally tells them it was written and arranged by Yoon Se-Na, everyone is shocked.

While a couple of them don’t care since the song is that good, the jerk director is angry and Hae-Yoon doesn’t like it either. It’s ridiculous to me that she’s bringing her personal feelings into work. I’ve never once heard her say something is good for AnA, only that it’s good for Hyun Wook. She shouldn’t be working there if the only thing she’s concerned about is him.

Hyun Wook wonders why their opinion changes because of who the songwriter is? Hae-Yoon follows him into the hall to voice her opinion that they shouldn’t take risks and should use a well-known songwriter. When Hyun Wook refuses, she asks directly: is this personal? She thinks it’s strange that he’s so focuses on Se-Na. *snort* I knew it, that’s the only thing she cares about. She most likely doesn’t like the song because of who wrote it.

    MLG74.jpg
Hyun Wook reminds her that just because he can’t write music doesn’t mean he’s lost his musical talents. He also reminds her that she once believed his songwriting was better than most well-known writers. Why can’t she have that same faith in Se-Na? I say it’s because she’s a jealous, possessive harpy? (LOL) It annoys me that he can’t see this.

Hyun Wook gives the good news to both Se-Na and Shi Woo, who appear shocked. Hae-Yoon talks to Sung-Jin and whines that she’s worried. *facepalm* She has a sudden about-face and tells Hyun Wook she understands why he believes in Se-Na. Uh, huh. She thinks they should take Se-Na out to dinner to celebrate. Everyone hold on, the back-stabbing and sabotage are about to begin.

Se-Na wants to celebrate but her plans for a cozy dinner with Hyun Wook are shattered when Hae-Yoon arrives with him. The two women snap at each other all through dinner but at least this time, Hyun Wook puts a stop to it. When Se-Na asks if they’re dating, he says not yet. UGH, WTF does that mean? Please tell me he’s not stupid enough to encourage Hae-Yoon more than he already has! He offers to take them both home but Se-Na says she’ll take the bus.

    MLG75.jpg
In the car, Hae-Yoon pouts that she doesn’t like it, he’s paying attention to another woman! *shakes head* Yah, Mr Genius – lets see how you deal with it this lit fire. Idiot. Hee-Sun hires a private investigator to follow CEO Lee around but is frustrated when he doesn’t meet any women. He ends up going to AnA to tell Hyun Wook they need to use one of the other songs for Shi Woo’s solo debut.

CEO Lee announces he met the lead investor who threatened to pull out unless they use a well-known songwriter. Hyun Wook refuses, angrily saying he’ll deal with the investor or find new ones if he has to. They argue some more until CEO Lee tells him to just listen to him this time and leaves. Wait, does that mean he’s not going to use Se-Na’s song now that he told her he would? Nooooo!

    MLG78.jpg
Joo Hong helps Se-Na prepare for a company party at a nightclub. Hyun Wook goes to said party only to find Sung Jin shoving Hae-Yoon on him, it looks like they planned that ahead of time? Se-Na walks in and they all turn to stare. DAMN GURL! She looks amazing, Hyun Wook can’t take his eyes off of her. Hae-Yoon watches Hyun-Wook watching Se-Na …again.

    MLG79.jpg
Ra-Eum approaches Shi Woo in the recording studio to encourage him, he has to beat Hae-Reum. She acknowledges they broke up, she really hopes Shi Woo wins this time. I like this change in her.

Hae-Yoon gets dragged to the dance floor but Hyun-Wook cutely refuses to dance. Se-Na walks away from Sung Jin and stares up at Hyun-Wook. There’s a long silent staring moment between them until Hyun-Wook suddenly has ringing in his ears. He stumbles outside, Se-Na goes after him.

    MLG80.jpg
Jae Young suddenly shows up to give Hae-Yoon bad news: AnA’s biggest investor is pulling out. Isn’t she curious why? Se-Na wants Hyun Wook to hop on one leg with his head tilted to get rid of his headache and demonstrates. Like when you have water in your ear after swimming? (ROFL, cute)

    MLG81.jpg
When Hae-Yoon walks out with Jae Young, Se-Na trips and Hyun Wook jumps to catch her. As he holds her in his arms, she tells him she wanted to thank him once they were alone. Jae Young asks Hae-Yoon: doesn’t it feel like deja-vu, like when Hyun Wook fell for Yoon Se-Eun? I wonder if she’s going to put two and two together with the last name.

    Thoughts:

I think it’s the old-fashioned feel of this drama that’s keeping me hooked, add in the music and the younger cast and I find myself more invested each week. Although I know where it’s going, I don’t know when or how things will happen. I think Hae-Yoon will be full-on crazy jealous now and do her best to destroy Se-Na but I don’t know how. Will she get help from CEO Lee to kick Se-Na out of AnA? Will she steal one of Se-Na’s songs for Jae Young or plant one of his songs on Se-Na to accuse her of plagiarism? Lots of possibilities.

I’m also guessing things will be okay until Se-Na finds out who Hyun Wook is. Will it be Hae-Yoon that tells her, implying he’s using Se-Na to alleviate his own guilt? The guilt part is true but the feelings he’s developing for her have nothing to do with that. I personally don’t think he has anything to feel guilty about, Jae Young should bear that burden for lying to So-Eun. I’m also still wondering if there were more people involved in breaking them up than we know.

    MLGWK3extra-2.jpg
If I had any doubts that Hyun Wook was too old for Se-Na, those thoughts were banished for good when she showed up at the club. She’s not a little girl, she’s a woman – with womanly feelings. I actually find her kindness and calm demeanor more mature than Hae-Yoon. While Se-Na may not have experience in dating or with men, I love that she doesn’t go all red-faced or turn into a giggling school-girl in front of him.

And I don’t think Rain looks too old at all, not when I compare this OTP to the one in “My Spring Day”. That guy looks MUCH older than the leading lady, it’s easy to believe there are 20 or more years between them. I’m not seeing that here and feel comfortable with this 12 year gap, it’s more believable. I could see myself at 20 falling for a guy in his mid-thirties easily. That’s not to say I don’t see chemistry with Se-Na and Shi Woo too, I do. I’m happy either way she goes.

    MLGWK3extra-3.jpg
Hyun Wook has the same easy-going, bantering chemistry with Hae-Yoon, the difference is Hae-Yoon turns every conversation to their relationship – even business conversations. She’s applying pressure to get what she wants and ignoring Hyun Wook’s thoughts or feelings. Although Se-Na is falling for him, things are developing naturally between them without any “tricks” being applied. All hell will break loose soon so I’m going to enjoy the budding romance for now.

It’s time to loosen those vocal chords and stiff muscles in order to sing and dance through this music episode. The cast of She’s So Lovable comes to play with their competitive spirits and water-repellent pants. Get ready to sing your heart out with this music hopefuls, as you share in their pain, their laughs, and their teams. After all, no one said that making it big would be an easy road to travel.

    EPISODE 214. Broadcast on September 28, 2014.

    RM214-00031.jpg

Today we’re joined by the cast of She’s So Lovable: Rain, f(x)’s Krystal, Clazziquai’s Alex, along with actors Kim Ki-bang, and Park Young-gyu.

Aptly named the Survival Audition Race for the music industry drama, only those competitors who make it to the final round will earn the chance to audition on stage. One team member from the losing team will be eliminated following each mission, and naturally cannot participate in further games. The prize? Golden mics.

It’s sort of funny how the PD agrees to at least give them a VJ (for some airtime), to which Ki-bang asks, “That camera will be [recording], right?” That’s only the beginning of Ki-bang’s chatterbox tendency, as he admits that he has to get as much variety screentime here since he doesn’t in the drama.

    RM214-00046.jpgRM214-00047.jpg

It’s barely been five minutes, but it certainly seems like the Asian Games coverage (which pre-empted other variety shows like 1N2D and Roommate this week, and then shaved down some time off of Running Man’s usual 90 minutes) forced the show to edit down any unnecessary material.

So by the time everyone arrives at their first location, they’ve already been divided into teams: Team RM (Suk-jin, Jong-kook, Gary, Kwang-soo, Haha, and Ji-hyo) vs. Team Lovable (Young-gyu, Rain, Alex, Krystal, Ki-bang, and Jae-suk).

To start things off, our teams will run in circles on that trademark acupuncture mat trying to chase down and rip off the opposing team’s tail’s nametag. Needless to say, our guests instinctively yelp in pain upon first step on the prickly track, which has me thinking that we’re in for much hilarity ahead.

    RM214-00123.jpg RM214-00151.jpg

Jae-suk tries to strategize how to crawl under their first obstacle—netting—and Krystal innocently asks if they aren’t supposed to walk over that instead. There’s a chorus of screams as soon as the whistle blows

As Team Lovable crawls under the net, Team RM hits their first literal snag at the rubber curtains. Noticing that the Lovable members are catching up, Team RM picks up the pace. Cue more painful screams.

Gary’s still caught under the net by the time Jae-suk catches up, but then Team RM manages to get away at the last second. Up, over, and under everyone goes, and Jae-suk gets yet another opportunity when Team RM gets caught up again. Off goes Gary’s nametag, and Team Lovable wins the first round.

    RM214-00171.jpg RM214-00205.jpg

Team RM is busy pointing fingers at who to blame for their loss, while Young-gyu looks pretty beat already. After a quick water break, Jae-suk is eager to test out the veteran actor’s waterproof pants, and ha—the water repels off of his trousers.

Just like in the first round, Rain makes sure that all of his teammates pass through safely before following suit. But ow—he trips and falls onto the acupuncture mat. That ought to hurt.

This time, however, Team Lovable gets caught in the netting, giving them barely enough time to make their escape. Team RM gets caught in the same place, and then Kwang-soo falls butt-first onto the spiky mat below. Owwwwwwww.

    RM214-00229.jpg RM214-00258.jpg

Round and round both teams go, until finally Kwang-soo catches up and eventually tears off Rain’s nametag. Exhausted, Ki-bang asks, “Can’t we play the third round next week?”

Young-gyu looks like he’s near tears, and Haha tests out the sunbae’s water-repellent pants himself. Hahaha, watching those water droplets slide off is oddly amusing. Curious to see if Jae-suk’s pants do the same, Haha pours water on him. It doesn’t work, and Jae-suk’s left with wet pants.

After another break, it’s time for their third and final round, and after a few close calls, Team Lovable catches up and gets the win. Which means that Team RM has to cut their first member—will it be their weakest link (Suk-jin) or the one at fault (Haha)?

    RM214-00295.jpg RM214-00303.jpg

They put it to a vote, and the caption tells us that their loud voices reflect their anxiety. Both Haha and Jong-kook’s name are on the table when another name is called: Bae-bae… which is just “Haha” read upside down. Hahahaha.

When Jong-kook gets another vote against him, he drags Haha and Kwang-soo out for a little beating, convinced they wrote down his name. In the end, Haha gets four votes against him, making him the first to be eliminated today.

Haha gives a few words on his post-elimination feelings, though Jae-suk doesn’t hesitate to interfere with the interview. Haha’s words basically boils down to that he hopes that everyone on his team fails.

    RM214-00340.jpg RM214-00366.jpg

At least Haha isn’t alone, because he’s joined by Alex in the car (the latter was cut from his team during the lunch mission). Alex remarks on how sad it would be if all they did was do nothing for the rest of the day and join in on the closing, which Haha says has happened a few times on this show.

Back in the gymnasium, the teams are joined by three retired athletes: Lim Oh-kyung (handball), Kim Dong-moon (badminton), and Woo Ji-won (basketball). Ah, so this must be how SBS decided to tie-in the Asian Games to the variety shows.

Our teams will face off with these former professional athletes at their own games. The team to win two out of three games wins. First up is handball, where Lim will attempt to score once the music cuts out. All the team have to do is block her shots, and Imma say that’s going to be easier said than done.

    RM214-00425.jpg RM214-00431.jpg

The teams are pretty confident about this 5:1 odds against Lim, but she’s a former Olympian, and I will laugh if she wipes the floor with our cast and guests today. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of Jong-kook dancing to his former Turbo hits, especially if he’s going to keep dancing so enthusiastically to them.

It’s like you can see the competitive glint in Lim’s eyes when she’s just about to shoot, and her first goal easily goes in. The second flies through the narrow space between Kwang-soo’s head and the goalpost. Kwang-soo yelps that he didn’t shrink away this time, to which Jong-kook yells, “You’re supposed to block it!”

Team RM manages to block two goals before letting another shoot past them. Ha, I love how Woo tried to psych them out by almost hurling a basketball at them. In the end Team RM blocks three shots in total.

    RM214-00463.jpg RM214-00465.jpg

Team RM tries to earn extra brownie points with Lim by giving her a massage, and she shakes everyone but Kwang-soo off because her daughter loves Kwang-soo. Aw. Young-gyu gets into the music, shaking his bum and everything before the whistle blows.

Ha, Lim lightly tosses the ball into Rain’s arms, much to Team RM’s displeasure. I mean, I can’t say I blame her. Upon hearing that Team Lovable needs to block the rest of the oncoming shots on goal to win, Lim feigns a misthrow.

And just when Kwang-soo gripes at the obvious tactic, the ball rebounds off of Ki-bang’s foot and hits him directly in the face.

    RM214-00518.jpg

Scaredy-cat Jae-suk is the black hole on Team Lovable, and it’s down to the final shot. Watching Lim rev up is just plain impressive, and the ball shoots past Rain into the net. Team RM wins the first round.

For their second round (basketball), our teams must correctly guess the song from the first few beats Woo sings for them. If they give the correct answer, Woo will attempt to shoot a three-pointer for that team. The team with the most three-pointers, wins.

Woo sings, “First…” which prompts Kwang-soo to slide forward and guess the song he once played on the piano (Yoo Jae-ha’s “Because I Love You”). It’s wrong, but then Rain gives the correct answer: the Last Match OST.

    RM214-00576.jpg RM214-00603.jpg

It doesn’t help that Woo is slightly off-key, but regardless, both teams slide down the court to get to the flag first. Woo keeps adding a beat upon every turn to help them out, and out of the chaos, it’s Rain who grabs the flag.

Rain correctly identifies it as one of JYP’s hits (“Behind You”), and later on, Jong-kook identifies his own single (“One Man”). At the end, Team Lovable have three shots compared to Team RM’s one.

Woo shoots a clean shot for both teams, bringing the score up to 1:1. He misses the second basket, but gets the third basket in.

    RM214-00623.jpg RM214-00640.jpg

Kim shows off his accuracy skills by successfully knocking down a tower of cans with one smash. And that’s just warm-up. The teams will face off against Kim, and the team who acquires the most points wins.

Team Lovable is up first, and Rain scores the first point against the retired athlete. The score is eventually 2:1 in favor of Kim, and then the shuttlecock hits Young-gyu in the face. Ki-bang gets a good relay going, but Young-gyu fails to hit it over the next, leaving their team with a loss: 4:1.

Jong-kook’s feeling pretty confident, since all they have to do is score two points to win. Rain: “It was hard enough getting one point!” And then the shuttlecock lands in Jong-kook’s arm.

    RM214-00668.jpg RM214-00683.jpg

When Jong-kook slips up again, he gets pushed to the back. But even there, Jong-kook hits the shuttlecock out of bounds. Ji-hyo manages to score a point for her team, so Kim decides to target the weakest link: Jong-kook.

And then if you can believe it, Team RM scores another point against Kim. This means that Team RM wins the second mission and that Team Lovable has to eliminate another teammate. It looks like everyone apart from Young-gyu voted against him, and his teammates try to explain that he just looks so exhausted.

Haha and Alex burst out laughing when Young-gyu joins them, but then they’re told that there’s a secret mission for them. So when the two teams arrive for their final mission, they’re told that they’ll be performing for the judges like a real audition.

    RM214-00745.jpg RM214-00741.jpg

And who would be their R-Pop Star judges but their fellow eliminated teammates, who are eager to exact some revenge. As Team Lovable prepares for their Michael Jackson “Billie Jean” performance, Rain suggests that they tweak the words to “Lend your heart to me.”

Jae-suk adds they need a sexy twist: “without security [collateral]” and “without interest.” The finished lyrics is pretty catchy: Lend your heart to me without collateral and without interest / Don’t you believe Oppa?

Our trio of judges stop by to check in on our teams, and they’re quick to tell Team Lovable how Kwang-soo humbly got down on his knees. Ki-bang and Jae-suk start to follow suit, and Haha goes ahead to ruffle Jae-suk’s hair (and his feathers).

    RM214-00785.jpg RM214-00854.jpg

Young-gyu offers some thoughts of how he was moved by everyone’s dedication to pull a performance together in an hour… but the scores will speak for themselves. Team RM is up first with their rendition of the Dreamgirls’s soundtrack “One Night Only,” and they appear in flashy red dresses and full-on makeup.

OMG, this is awesome. Kwang-soo’s wig is pretty awesome, but Suk-jin and Gary singing backup (“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”) and making heart signs together make it that much more brilliant.

Am I the only one who thinks that Kwang-soo makes a rather pretty lady in his wardrobe? Young-gyu admits that they put on an entertaining performance, but their score might not reflect his own enjoyment.

    RM214-00915.jpg RM214-00905.jpg

Haha takes over the harsh judge’s role, and his first few statements has Kwang-soo near tears already. Despite his criticism, he thanks the team for pulling something together so quickly.

Then it’s Team Lovable’s turn with “Billie Jean,” and Rain impresses the judges with his smooth dancing right out of the gate. If there’s anything that I’ve noticed about Rain is that he works super hard at everything he does, so you aren’t going to see him half-richard simmons anything, even for a fake audition on a variety show.

It’s cute how Rain and Krystal dance their little couple dance sequence while Jae-suk and Ki-bang provide backup. The judges have nothing but praise for Team Lovable, and Young-gyu admits that he’s glad he was eliminated or else he would have ruined the team’s perfect harmony.

    RM214-00955.jpg RM214-00983.jpg

Team Lovable receives a total score of 280, leaving Team RM a worthy shot to win. Team RM needs at least a 90 from Alex to win it… and they receive an 88. Therefore, Team Lovable wins the competition, but the captions warn us that there’s a huge reversal in store soon.

And sure enough, Mr. PD announces that the victors will choose one judge as their “producer” whereas the remaining two will face punishment: flour-filled balloons. Haha pleads that he gave Team Lovable a perfect 100, to which Jae-suk tosses back, “Who are you?”

But they choose Haha anyway, and the balloons pop over Young-gyu and Alex’s heads. They’re both good sports about the mini-punishment, their smiles and gratitude overpowering anything else.

    MLG1_1.png

Firnlambe: I enjoyed this episode a lot. Mainly because of how jealous Hyun Wook became without him even realizing it.

Deeno: I’m definitely enjoying Shi Woo and Se Na’s relationship. They are so cute together. I’m seriously ready to get rid of Hyun Wook.

June: Yesssss! The relationship between Se Na and Shi Woo is soooo cute! I love it so much. Now, if Se Na can just stop thinking about Hyun Wook that would be great.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-02 at 1.35.39 AM.png

Firnlambe: Ok, listen up brat . . . just because the company took away one of your members and replaced him with Shi Woo, does not mean that the blame and hate should fall on Shi Woo. He had no more to do with it than you guys did.

Deeno: But it wouldn’t be a kdrama with pointless angst.

June: Ugh, so, so, so annoyed by this scene. The other members are so shady and petty for doing all of this.

Firnlambe: WHOO HOO!! Go Se Na Go! I really do like her character, she’s not afraid to stick up for herself.

Deeno: About time she had some say in music life and I appreciate that she uses logic to convince the trainees that they are biased complainers with no idea what is really going on.

June: Thank god she finally said something. I hope she doesn't keep quiet against them any longer. Drag them jealous trainees girl!

Deeno: Does Hae Yoon have a life outside of meddling with other people’s lives. The girl needs some life goals that don’t hinge on a man.

June: Nope. It pretty much seems like her whole life revolves around this. She seriously needs to reevaluate some things.

Firnlambe: Ok, so I can kiiinda see where those of you who like Hae Yoo are coming from . . . . kinda. Unfortunately she's an idiot and goes about trying to change Hyun Wook's situation all wrong, so I tend to get more aggravated than anything else. Hyun Wook is such a strong willed character im surprised Hae Yoo is trying to back him into a proverbial corner. Can't she see that he's the type to push back first, think about how it makes the other party feel second?

Firnlambe: Poor Shi Woo . . . all he wanted was someone to talk to.

Deeno: And obviously he can’t get her out of his mind since she’s the only person who bickers with him. I think it’s good for him.

June: I agree. This is the start of a beautiful friendship/relationship. I can't wait to see more of it.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-02 at 1.44.31 AM.png

Deeno: I like Hyun Wook’s little wake up lecture. It’s what Shi Woo needed to hear and I just love that Shi Woo had no scruples about admitting that he’s scared. That’s the courage he needs to become a bigger super star.

Firnlambe: I totally agree!! That says a LOT about Shi Woo's true character. He's not always arrogant because he wants to be . . . I think it's more of a defence mechanism than anything else.

June: Yesssss. I am ready for Shi Woo domination. I can't wait for this whole part to come up. I want him to blow the other members who left into the water!

    Screen Shot 2014-10-02 at 1.47.00 AM.png

Deeno: Don’t listen to your friend’s advice and go after her because you pity her!

June: Exactly! That's such a cop out. Like if you like her then go after her but if you just pity her, just save us from all the unnecessary drama.

Firnlambe: Honestly, I think whatever feels he may be feeling are more along the lines of sympathy rather than romantic.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-02 at 1.49.07 AM.png

Deeno: Eeee!!! And in front of Hyun Wook! I love his sincerity and I’m already suffering from second lead syndrome. Sorry, Rain, but you’re too old for this drama. Let the youngin’s have their moment to shine and make each other swoon!

June: Let's get this love triangle moving along now!

Firnlambe: Oh I'm all for the Rain line. While I do like the interactions between the youngin's, I like watching Se Na's interactions with Hyun Wook more . . . BUT! I have to say, I was extremely worried things were going to be the other way around up on the roof. I thought Shi Woo would be walking in on Se Na and Hyun Wook joined by the headphones. Somehow I feel like that would have been much more of a cataclysmic outcome. I can definitely see Shi Woo blowing things uselessly out of proportion, if that had indeed been the case.

Oh my word, now that was a great way to end the episode! What did you all think of Shi Woo and Se Na's growing friendship? Do you all like her better with Shi Woo or Hyun Wook? Also, what do you all think about Hyun Wook's dad and his wife's impending divorce? Comment below and tell us what you think!

Which Drama Is Currently Leading in Viewer Ratings for the Wednesday-Thursday Slot?

With tight competition for SBS, KBS, and MBC dramas in the same Wednesday-Thursday time slot, it has been revealed which drama is currently in the lead, in terms of viewer ratings. However, it is also being said that each one of these dramas are struggling to surpass the 10% mark, regardless of the broadcast station on which it is aired.

According to Nielsen Korea, the October 2 broadcast of MBC’s “My Spring Day” recorded 8.8% in viewership ratings, putting it in first place during its time slot. On the other hand, SBS’ “My Lovely Girl,” which aired one hour later than normal due to the live broadcast of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, resulted in a rating of 4.7%.

This display of relatively low ratings are a concern for the three major broadcast stations, as their dramas are unable to maintain the same amount of influence and popularity as before. While “My Spring Day” has proven to reach the most number of viewers, the inability to break the 10% mark leaves much to be desired from these dramas.

In addition, KBS’ “Blade Man,” which was cancelled on this day, has seen a viewer rating of 6.9% as its highest thus far, as it stays around the 5% mark on average.

A broadcast representative shared, “The viewers’ pattern and style of watching dramas is continuing to change. It’s not an easy task to hold on to the viewers who tune in live to watch the dramas. In order to meet the rising standards of the viewers, we must create more original, quality dramas.”

Which one of these Wednesday-Thursday dramas are you currently enjoying?
