JYJ’s Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong are worthy of the name acting-dol. Kim Junsu continues with his musical performances, too. They boast unusual appeal that combines up to their acting ability in their patented long-term vocal skills.

JYJ stands out in the acting field, along with their music activities after splitting from TVXQ. Especially in the cases of Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong, they have met the general public through dramas and movies almost every year since 2010 and 2011 respectively. Park Yoochun with drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’(2010) and Kim Jaejoong with drama ‘Protect the Boss’(2011), was their first challenge in acting in legitimate dramas and since then, they have continued their vigorous work [T/N: dramas & movies] activities.

Those who at every free moment attempt acting together with their singing activities are Choi Seunghyun (Big Bang’s T.O.P), Kim Hyunjoong, Im Siwan (ZE:A), Suzy (Miss A), Yoona (SNSD), Lee Joon (MBLAQ), Uee (After School), and etc.; from among them, Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong are the most active figures. The two men left their memorable marks by having seized the Rookie of the Year award or Popularity award at broadcasting stations’ year-end Acting Awards shows. These reasons are why the two men have rise to the top class among many acting-dols then.

In the midst of having group activities –to publish their albums, open concert tours, etc. in Korea, Japan, etc.– with the name JYJ, it is not easy to ensure their presence as actors. If they did not have acting abilities to fundamentally support themselves as well as packed their schedules, there would be a difficult reason, to stick their noses constantly into so many works. Moreover, even though they could depend on their reputation as idol singers named JYJ in the beginning of these works, having undertaken the lead role since actually debuting, the two men are not at this point in time. The two men are harmonious in the matter of collaborating with prominent full-time actors, drawing favorable reviews and box-office power for the pivot of their works. Furthermore since they do well in the markets of oversea copyright, Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong are attractive ‘cards’ where there’s no reason for broadcasters and producers to hesitate in casting them.

Recently, Park Yoochun completed the drama ‘Three Days’ and is getting ready for the opening of his movie ‘Sea Fog’ (by director Shim Sung-bo), that director Bong Joon-ho is embarking upon his first production. Done that [T/N:  doing 'Dr. Jin' and 'Jackal is Coming' at the same time], Kim Jaejoong is in the middle of acting in MBC Mon-Tue drama ‘Triangle’. The both of them are leading their works with outstanding production crews and senior and junior actors.

For JYJ, who are unable to appear on music broadcasting and in entertainment programs, the solution to the situation was just to act. In the midst of a prolonged lawsuit surrounding their exclusive contract after becoming independent from their former management company SM Entertainment, their entertainment activities had a lot of obstacles in many ways. It’s natural they want to be on music broadcasting stages as singers, but this did not pan out naturally in reality; the way they can communicate with fans and the general public was to ‘act’. Whether it’s the instance of which drama or movie, in between box-office power or oversea sales and etc., for the popularity or box-office entertainment because the success or failure of the casting are very important; there are no doubts about casting the powerful JYJ and their influences in overseas markets.

So from the point of views of advertisers, producers and broadcasters, Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong are all-around satisfying actors, too. Their acting abilities and the gap between actors of the same age and class are not only excellent but even for guaranteeing box-office entertainment and creating a profit, they are great boosts. Not unproven just yet, there are third-rate acting-dols who raise concerns at the present; but Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong’s values are more reassuring than anyone else’s.

Their class is different. Their acting abilities and influences, of course, are overwhelming. JYJ and their acting activities are pressing and necessary to each other. Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong are accompanied with the best synergy that appeals either to the situation, work [T/N: dramas & movies], or general public.

This is both bad news and good news!

JYJ‘s agency, C-JeS Entertainment, has confirmed to the local media that members Park Yoochun and Kim Jaejoong plan to enlist in the military in the latter half of this year after the release of a new group album. 

Earlier on June 4, Park Yoochun had stated during his solo fan meeting for his birthday that JYJ was preparing for a new album. C-JeS elaborated today that the group is indeed preparing a studio album, but its release date has not been decided. It has been three years since JYJ’s last studio album, “The Beginning.”

As for member Kim Junsu, the agency said that no time frame has been set for his military enlistment.

Currently, Kim Jaejoong is busy filming his MBC drama, “Triangle,” while Park Yoochun just finished filming is SBS drama, “Three Days,” and is starting on the movie, “Haemoo,” (“Sea Fog”). Kim Junsu is currently busy with his musical, “Dracula.”

Celebrating his 29th birthday, JYJ′s Park Yoo Chun shared a special time with his fans.

C-JeS Entertainment shared, "Celebrating his birthday on June 4, Park Yoo Chun successfully held the 2014 Park Yoo Chun Fanmeeting ′House Warming Party′ with fans in Korea for the first time.

Held at Ilsan′s Kintex, the fanmeeting was orgazanized on June 4 for Park Yoo Chun′s birthday, specifically for his fans in Korea, whom he hasn′t had a chance to meet with through a fanmeeting. Tickets were all sold out within 15 minutes of the ticket release, and the event ran for about three hours with much excitement from the fans.

With ′housewarming′ as the theme, the fanmeeting began with a door bell and Park Yoo Chun walking onto the stage that was decorated to look like his room. When the specially designed cake appeared, fans presented a special glowstick event along with the birthday song, as Park Yoo Chun blew out the candles and thanked everyone for coming.

JYJ members, Kim Jae Joong and Kim Junsu left a congratulatory message, saying, "Happy birthday, and sorry we couldn′t come. We hope you′re still happy even with this short video message. Have a great time."

The video message was followed by another from the cast of Park Yoo Chun′s recently concluded drama, Three Days, with Jang Hyun Sung, Park Ha Sun, So E Hyun, and Choi Won Young saying, "Bodyguard Han Tae Kyung, happy birthday. It was an honor to be in a drama with you and a lot of fun. Let′s meet again in a different one!"

Park Yoo Chun also couldn′t hide his tears when his mother appeared on the screen with a moving message that made the entire hall fill with warmth.

Organizing special events for the 6002 fans, referring to ′Yoo Chun-ie′ or ′6002′ in Korean, Park Yoo Chun fulfilled the wishes of fans by presenting three-level winks, singing Three Bears, and even making character lunches for fans.

There was also a segment called, "Yoo Chun, Turn On Your Greenlight," in which fans sent in worries about their romantic lives and Park Yoo Chun honestly gave advice from a man′s point of view.

Just because the fanmeeting was held in Korea didn′t mean the fans from abroad were left out. A video presenting birthday messages from Chinese fans that were hung in the subway station of Myungdong was played. Also, fans from Japan, Hong Kong, Russia, Turkey, London, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, and more were also present at the event hall, proving Park Yoo Chun′s popularity.

In his final words, Park Yoo Chun said, "Thank you so much for today. As much as you take care of me and love from places I cannot see, I will work that much harder. We are also working excitedly with the JYJ album, so we′ll be sure to show you great things."

Park Yoo Chun performed The Empty Spot for You from the drama Miss Ripley and his self-composed song, I Walk in the Spring with Her. As a fan event, the audience threw paper airplanes, closing the curtains on the 2014 Park Yoo Chun Fanmeeting ′House Warming Party′.

Meanwhile, Park Yoo Chun will also be holding exclusive fanmeetings in Guangzhou on June 14 and Shanghai on June 29 as an actor.

Director Bong Joon-ho spoke about his thoughts on embarking as a movie producer through ‘Sea Fog’.

Meeting with Newsen before the screening of documentary movie ‘Graphic novel Le Transperceneige, from the white page to the black screen’ presented at Platoon Kunsthalle in Gangnam, Seoul on June 6, Director Bong Joon-ho talked about his next piece of work as his first produced film ‘Sea Fog’ (directed by Shim Sung-bo, production by Haemoo Co., Ltd.).

Director Bong Joon-ho said, “I plan to begin on promoting ahead for movie ‘Sea Fog’ opening in August after doing North American promotions” for ‘Snowpiercer’.

The movie that Director Bong Joon-ho is embarking on his first production, ‘Sea Fog’ is in an unknown sea fog where one cannot see what’s in front of oneself, it is the piece of work about the story of six mercenary crew members on an old ship who are swept into an uncontrollable accident when they shift over to ferrying stowaways. It boasts the strongest casting combination –from veteran actors to rising stars onscreen–; Kim Yoon-seok, Park Yoochun, Han Ye-ri, Lee Hee-joon, Moon Sung-geun, Kim Sang-ho, and Yoo Seung-mok.

In particular it completed pre-sales to 5 countries: Japan, France, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore; for a higher amount that exceeds the average sales prices of South Korean films, as well as, sold out all its seats amid overseas buyers’ great interests with only its 10-minute-long promo video at the film market of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Undertaking his first production, Director Bong Joon-ho showed confidence when asked about his thoughts, saying, “‘Sea Fog’ is in its ready states for CG works and most of the finishing works. The piece of work also came out satisfactorily. The actors and staff members worked diligently. It seems like a good experience through this opportunity”.

Director Bong Joon-ho continued, “I tried producing for the first time this time and I felt like ‘Sea Fog’ is probably my first and last produced film,” and, “Directed and written in my words as done by me originally, the film was a very hard and difficult piece of work”.

Director Bong Joon-ho added, “When  ‘Sea Fog’ teaser poster was distributed saying ‘Bong Joon-ho’s project’ in large fonts on it, I had to ask to leave me out of those kind of things from now on. I was embarrassed,” and, “‘Sea Fog’ is not mine but director Shim Sung-bo’s and the actors’ meticulous piece of work.”
