Sorry but it looks like we must wait 3 more months.

I was thinking the music side is about done. But then we haven't heard about WG in the studio with Darkchild (Rodney  Jerkins), unless JYPE had hired him as a songwriter & not as a  producer.

As pointed out, JYP & Claude Kelly had also tweeted each other in January about meeting up in NYC to work on the album. JYP only finished his 'Dream High' filming a few days ago.

There is that rumor about Stevie Wonder in Los Angeles too.

I had actually posited a May (rather than April) release the other day, to tie in with the big-scale ensemble concerts in Asia during that month.

It looks like WG may have to skip these, while aiming all out for the peak summer touring months in America.

All in all, it appears the US interests won out while coordinating the best timetable.

Maybe JYPE gave in to their US partners, who are making bigger investments. I am thinking specifically of the music distributer (likely Universal Music) & tour agent (LiveNation? Jonas Group?).

Ah well, I take comfort in both Claude Kelly & Fredro Odesjo being very enthusiastic when they tweeted about the new songs. They know their stuff.

They divulged that their album will be released in June. To celebrate the brand's 5th anniversary in China, WONDERGIRLS livened things up by singing a Mandarin birthday song soon after they made their appearance. They also praised the clothing brand as elegantly simple, yet full of femininity. The emcee asked them about their plans this year now that they have hit the Billboard charts. The girls said: "We have recently begun recording several songs in America. The main style is '60s-, '70s-era retro, yet with a brand-new concept. Hopefully, we can release the album in June this year."

(Ming Pao news) To mark its 5th year in the China market, French fashion brand Chloe held an entertaining fashion show at the Shanghai World Expo Center a couple of nights ago. Altogether, 15 fashion models including Emma Pei, Zhang Jing & Bonnie Chen Bige participated in the 2011 Spring/Summer presentation. VIP guests like popular Korean girlgroup WONDERGIRLS (WG), Gaile Lok, Aarif Lee, Simon Yam & wife, [actor] Michael Wong & wife, China actor Jiang Wen's wife Zhou Yun, et al. were all seated in the front row to enjoy the show.

WG sings a Mandarin birthday song

Recently-turned fashion-show darlings WG was dressed in the brand's latest wear for the night. They had turned up escorted by about 10 bodyguards & staff members. The girls showed off their Mandarin skills by singing a birthday song to congratulate the host. WG is in full preparations for the US market, & hopes to release their new album in June. They are currently immersed with recording chores in the studio.

Award-winning actor Simon Yam took the initiative to approach WONDERGIRLS for a photo ops. He & his wife Qi Qi have become fans, explaining: "Our daughter Ella loves to listen to WG's songs. The little tyke went to the girls' Hong Kong concert last year too. Ella even took special classes to learn to play 'Nobody' on the piano & to dance to it. She is a great fan of the girls."

Album to be released in June!? I'm not that surprised, but a little disappointed that we have to wait even longer. We've been waiting too long for this album, but at the same time I don't really mind. We've already waited this long, a little longer wouldn't hurt and I'm quite excited about the album, due to the fact they are working with some good producers. ^^ I'm looking forward to the outcome of the album. I hope it really does impress and live up to expectations, because we have waited so long!

(Direct from Shanghai) Korean girlgroup WONDERGIRLS (WG), Gaile Lok, Aarif Lee, Jiang Wen's wife Zhou Yun, China actress Chan Ran & others were in Shanghai the other night for French fashion brand Chloe's 5th mainland anniversary celebrations. In conjunction, there was also a 2011 Spring/Summer fashion presentation. Fashion model Chen Bige, who was once linked to [tycoon] Richard Li, performed a ribbon dance.

WONDERGIRLS & Aarif Lee showed their savviness by each singing birthday songs for the host. WG even 'went native' by performing it in Mandarin. They divulged that they will release an album in mid-year, saying: "We have already recorded several songs. They are '70s- to '80s-eras in retro style. We also hope to have a brand-new concept." WG's album hit the Billboard 100 chart last year [sic], & the girls are aspiring to have similar success again. WG was also a hit among the invited guests. Simon Yam & [wife] Qi Qi approached them for a photo ops. In between, Qi Qi was a little embarrassed, so Simon Yam said: "Ella (their daughter) is a WG superfan, so we must get the snapshots. Apparently WG worked with him again in Shanghai. How did he end up there, though.

In retrospect, he was the first to allude to the newly-delayed album release, although no date was mentioned.

WONDERGIRLS is in Shanghai for a Chloe commercial event. Before they set off, I was in active contact with their manager & discussing their work arrangements. Seeing Big Bang everywhere really makes me miss the girls so much!

the reason why Im upset is that they keep saying the album will come out in this month then suddenly they change it to another month ,I mean if they are not exactly sure when they will finish recording or finish the preparation for their new album I think its better for them from now on just to say we are working for our album and it will come out soon

Not your average five year old’s birthday party, Chloe China’s fifth anniversary on February 25 brought together the themes of high tech and high fashion.

A packed house of well-known fashion and entertainment names including South Korea's Wonder Girls, Simon Yam and Michael Wong ensured that the company’s Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show hosted at the Shanghai Expo Center and headlined by model Bonnie Chen, would be as glamorous as any of the events at New York Fashion Week.

In addition to showing the company’s S/S 2011 line with the theme “modern ballerina,” the event also featured a modern dance performance choreographed by fashion designer and former ballet dancer Flora Cheong-Leen, starring model Bonnie Chen.

More than anything else though, it was a celebration of the company's success in China.

“So much has happened in the last five years,” says Helen Willerton, managing director of Chloe Asia Pacific.

“This time five years ago we were doing a party for our first store in China -- and that was the start of it all. The first two years we were in China with a franchise partner, then we decided we needed to internalize the business.

"In effect, while it has been five years, it really has been only three years that Chloe has been established with our own office and we're quite proud of how far we have come.”

By the end of this fiscal year, Chloe China will have 13 stores in seven cities across China, including stores in Nanjing and Xi’an. In addition to growing the number of stores, the number of employees is expected to soon double to 70.

My netbook battery is running out of power so I will summarize what they said later.

But Sunye said something interesting in the middle: WG has not decided whether to add Chinese cover version(s) for the upcoming US album.

She then mentioned WG may record a separate Chinese album instead. Yeeun, following after her, reinforced this point by claiming it is currently under consideration.

EDIT: I now wonder if the latest delay is because of this intention, or to make the best of things under the new circumstances (i.e. opt for June deadline instead of, say, May).

WONDERGIRLS of 'Nobody' fame in Asia is not contented with just circulating this delectable tune. Currently based in America & taking language lessons, the quintet flew to Shanghai the other day for a fashion event & accepted this reporter's interview. They talked about the positive results of their US tuition, & also about creating their own music.

Pre-Chinese New Year, the WG girls had absented themselves from the fans & headed to America for tuition. During the interview, Sunye said on behalf of the group: "We have been studying very hard, & also learned a lot." She also divulged that WG will release a brand new album this year: "We have already recorded several songs." Yeeun, who was majoring in music in college, told this reporter that she is very interested in composing songs. She is thinking about creating some tunes down the road.

Asked about the main focus of their US tuition, Sunye revealed that they have been mostly learning English & dance choreography for the new album. She also confessed freely that WG's next album is for the international market, that it will be aimed at globally & not just in Asia. This reporter learned that they already have lots of fans in America. Yeeun divulged that a guy had approached her & Yoobin when they were window-shopping in America. He had even greeted them in Korean, saying he wanted to set up a fan club for them.

Not long ago, Yoobin had shared some striking photos from America, which received a great deal of attention & had people wondering if WG will opt a bolder direction. Sunye said in response that WG shall indeed raise the stakes in their dance music, but the new album will also continue to rely on the retro style that is their expertise.

WG was participating in French brand Chloe's 5th anniversary celebrations-cum-fashion show that day. The girls also shared their views about fashion design, saying they would love to open their own boutique & to design for their own fashion label. Seems like they have recorded a few more songs in February. I am somewhat hoping a full English album will be released now that it has been pushed back to June. I'd also like the hear the full english version of 'This Time'

For me it’s Wonder Girl's Sohee. I'm a fan of hers since she debuted. Before, even though I've unexpectedly was scheduled for a photo shoot on the same day as the Wonder Girls, I didn’t get the chance to talk with them until it was over. Although we have concerts aboard together, even during that time we still couldn’t talk to each other. I have to improve my personality.

how cute !!!

this is the 4th time he's shown his affection for our Sohee !

1) he danced to 2DT and MBLAQ's Joon asked if he was hinting at his ideal type.

2) he mentioned he liked her on Heechul's radio show (oh no!) and heechul had a bit of a fit !

3) he described his ideal type of woman on a radio show she was shockingly similar to Sohee (so much so that non-wonderfuls were able to pick up on it!).

4) and now the interview above !

I have thought long & hard about this, & -- taking the cue from Wondercuty -- have reached a decision.

Since some fellow WFs have indicated no desire to post here anymore, I hereby deny permission for the reproduction or any quotation of my translations in the Soompi subforums.

Outside of Soompi, yes (for now). But no longer elsewhere in this network.

Sorry it has come down to this, but it's for the self-preservation of this forum.

FYI Wondercuty has elected to block out all lurkers. I will have to cancel my Twitter account to be that drastic.

So they're considering releasing a Chinese album? With remakes or brand new song? Either way I think the Chinese fans will like it. It would be a lot of work to create another album with brand new songs. But I'm guessing if it's going to be a new album for the Chinese fans, I think it will probably be a mini-album.
