  1. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Thank you to each and everyone of you for all that's happened in 2014. I've been very lucky that I've gotten to know so many FTLY lovers and our snail couple lovers. Them winning the best couple, as well as the acting awards are totally an icing on the cake for me.
Let's hope and hope that their new collaboration is just over the horizon!
    That said, when's our rewatch?!

  2. There's one added scene from episode 9 that really shows just how important Gunnie was to Miyoung, and how he was always no.1 in her heart.

It started when Daniel offered to be Miyoung's escort into the auction. At first Miyoung was hesitant and said that she could walk in herself. But after Daniel's persuasion, she acceded to his request and they walked in. Upon walking into the compound, Gunnie saw them and instantly went over to them. Then after he told Miyoung that she should walk in with him, which is of course the case since they're husband and wife. And after hearing that, Miyoung immediately removed her hand and agreed to go with Gunnie.
What didn't go down well with me was how Daniel felt like he had the right to hold Miyoung's arm and not letting her go with Gunnie. In my opinion, Gunnie and Miyoung are husband and wife, and if the husband already says to walk in together, they should be walking in together. Trying to prevent Miyoung from walking in was very selfish on Daniel's part. At that point of time, I was really angry with him. And I liked that Daniel's confident smile was wiped off his face when Daniel asked Miyoung to choose between the both of them, and Miyoung refused to choose between the both of them.
From the initial meeting of Gunnie at the auction, it's clear that Miyoung wants to go in with Gunnie by view of the fact that she so readily agrees to him first time, unlike the front part where Daniel had to persuade Miyoung to be escorted together. And when asking Miyoung to choose between the both of them, Daniel was sooooo confident that Miyoung would choose him. Knowing that Miyoung will not want to embarrass Daniel, she instead chose to go in alone, knocking Daniel's confidence off the shelf.

Here I go off topic again but I just wanted to say that all the people on this forum should get an award just for being themselves!  I've checked out other sites (like Dramabeans) and found so much negativity and uncalled for comments and everyone is so different here, you give your honest opinion without saying anything nasty or insulting anyone or making a show sound terrible just because you didn't like it yourself.

To show my appreciation I'll give you this advice:  if you're ever in a depressed mood and could use some cheering up, watch a show on the Viki site, they started posting viewer comments along with the episodes which can be distracting but also funny.  I was watching  Dr.Jin and got hysterical at some of those comments, despite the episode being about a cholera epidemic!

I'll stay on topic from now on!

  4. The exercise scene will never fail to impress me.
First off, the so tangible chemistry between Gunnie and Miyoung in stalking Omma together and cheering for each other. This was easily one of my favourite scenes in the entire show because 1) they were color coordinated 2) the scene of Gunnie carrying Miyoung on his back and asking if she would like to eat ramen noodles 3) it's one of the rare times I see Miyoung channel the 'Gunnie-ness' in her by being soooo exuberant and basically chattering her way through this scene4) I've seen those street olympics games where the athletes do similar actions to what Gunnie does in the show. It goes to show how strong Hyuk really is to be able to pull those stunts off!
So I believe that those expressions from Omma and Miyoung were their true expressions because of Hyuk's awesomeness. Haha!

  5. Just joined in to the recapping, was caught at work!
Still cant say enough about the hand holding (I know, I'm such a sucker for those hand holding moments). But in the bridal car, we can see Miyoung's hands firmly clenching Gunnie's hands while driving the car. And there is no sign of her wanting to let go even when they pan out, because you can see Gunnie's hands crossing over to the gear shift area.
And can i say, i love the way Gunnie calls 'JANG NARAAAAAA' in the show. Might be the sexiest way ever to call nara's name :)

  6. Gunnie's farewell letter to Miyoung:
"Ellie, it made me really happy to recall the most beautiful and glorious moment in my life because of you and this painting. I'm returning it to you but my heart will always remember you.'
If I can interpret what Gunnie says, Gunnie was able to be so happy and contented with the painting of GD, because it painted a world for him that he would never be able to have because of the accident. You can tell how many times he has replayed the feeling of having the most beautiful and glorious moments in his mind if he had not done what he did three years ago. In the perfect scenario, him, Miyoung and GD would have been playing 'Snail Catching' in the meadows and hills under the sun everyday.
Even though Gunnie would not be able to be physically beside Miyoung, he has channeled all his soul and encouragement into that letter, and giving Miyoung the last bit of encouragement in saying that he will always remember her in his heart. This is again a sign that he took Miyoung's words to heart in episode 13 where she said that being with Gunnie three years ago, was the happiest and most bright part of her life, but also the saddest at the same time. In short, Gunnie always takes Miyoung's words and advice and applies it to himself.

  7. Ji-yeon visits Miyoung at her shop, and they go upstairs to have a chat. I love how everyone says that they recognized Miyoung's talent long ago. Haha!Being a good friend, Ji-yeon has no qualms about asking the hard questions, like why she's moving back to Paris when it's clearly more comfortable with her family here in Seoul.
She then tells Miyoung that she should be a member of her matchmaking agency, and spills the beans about Gunnie being a VIP member of the agency for three years. Miyoung is surprised at this bit of news, because she thought that Gunnie was attached ever since. And she's even more shocked that he has been single for three entire years!
And the funniest part of the conversation is: Ji-yeon asks Miyoung if Gunnie has some problems about small gunnie, and blurts that Miyoung would be the best person to know since.........
Hands up to those who can tell what went through Miyoung's brain when she was asked that question. Hahaha, please exert all your byeontae-ness!

  8. Miyoung tells Daniel that she wants to go back to Paris and is unable to keep her promise of staying with him until the biennial ends.
Daniel gets very upset at this and asks outright 'Are you that uncomfortable in Korea?'To me, this is a sign that Daniel is still VERY unsure about his relationship with Miyoung. If he was that sure, he would have said outright that he saw Gunnie at Miyoung's shop yesterday.
Back to Gunnie, he looks SOOOOO down about his altercation with Miyoung. And now looks well drunk into his 4th bottle of sake when meeting with Sera. He's trying to pass off like he's fine and just drinking, but his eyes are filled with so much sadness. Gunnie then starts off saying that a few weeks ago, Sera's mom came to visit him. And Sera knows that her mother went to visit him, but she passes off like she didnt know it. She's at a loss of words however, when Gunnie says to end all ties with her so that she can move on with her life. He took Miyoung's words about being responsible for her feelings and is putting it in practice with Sera.
No wonder Daniel and Sera are siblings, both of them trying to pass off that nothing has happened even though they know about it.

  9. No one's recapping episode 17?
Miyoung discovers that Gunnie is Young-ja unni, and demands an explanation to why he tricked her.
Gunnie starts by saying that his ex-wife became a famous artist, and he was just curious to know how she was. And that, he liked the painting of GD so he bought it. When he starts trying to maneuver his story to make it seem like he was a jerk in blaming Miyoung, you can see his eyes are filled with so much sadness and he does not dare look straight into her face at times. His eyes totally betray whatever he feels, and when he lied to Miyoung about having no choice to pretend to be Young-ja, his eyes are full of sadness and conveying his utmost apologies to Miyoung.
On the other hand, Miyoung has that kind of anger where it's the silent kind of anger, but probably the most effective and deadly, and I am legit scared for Gunnie because Miyoung was that scary :/ Her world came crashing down once before because of Gunnie, now that her 'new life' is back, it almost comes crashing down when she realises that the soul mate she's been talking to is none other than Gunnie. Here, you can see Miyoung remembering the poker chip moment (as long as you have that chip, there will always be a chance), and asking Gunnie if whatever he says was true, hoping against hope that Gunnie will say yes.
Of course, we know what happened, and Gunnie played down those SMS talks like it was nothing, hurting Miyoung further.
Gunnie encouragement moment again: at the end, he calls Miyoung by 'Kim Mi Young-sshi'. From what I've observed, every time he wants to tell her the truth and his heartfelt words, he will ALWAYS use Kim Mi Young-sshi, because deep down, that's who she is. And he chides her for being unable to change her inner self, and not being strong enough. It can be intepreted that he was trying to push her to be able to stand up for herself and not always get bullied.

  10. Old Goodbye trailer out!
    http://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=jangnara&no=79909&page=1
From the looks of it, this time Nara is the more 'crazy' one. Could it be that Gunnie and Miyoung's souls were switched for this show? Hahaha!Jokes aside, lots of tears I foresee. And the Jjangs are too damn cute. The scenes in the trailer are what I would imagine Gunnie and Miyoung doing in their free time.
