'Goblin' production to begin on Sept. 8; here's what Gong Yoo wants from his co-stars

    Gong Yoo

"Goblin," the latest from "Descendants of the Sun' writers Kim Eun Sook and Lee Eung Bok, will go into production on Sept. 8 and is expected to be aired sometime in December, it was announced on Monday.

"Goblin" is a supernatural fantasy drama in which a goblin and a reaper start living together. The table read for the show was recently held at the Nuri Dream Square Business Tower. Talking about the show's cast and the amazing vibe he experienced at the table lead, the show's lead actor Gong Yoo also reminisced about "Coffee Prince" and the connection he felt with the cast and crew of the 2007 drama.

"It's already been 10 years. I'm not sure if you will believe me or not, but the drama will have meant as much to me whether or not it did well," Gong Yoo said about "Coffee Prince," according to Soompi. "Everyone in 'Coffee Prince' wanted each other to do well. No one was selfish, and it was a set where we all had fun. That kind of atmosphere is hard to come by, and to have experienced it as an actor, I am very thankful. I hope [the 'Goblin' set] is the same."

"Goblin" was initially set to go on air in November, but its release date was pushed back to accommodate "K2." "It's planned that 'Goblin' will air around December," a representative for tvN was quoted as saying by the media. "The schedule may change a bit depending on the schedule for 'K2,' which is airing before it."

"K2" is a romantic drama starring Ji Chang Wook and Yoona as leads. The story begins will Kim Je-Ha (Ji Chang-Wook), a former solider, being hired to protect Choi Yoo-Jin (Song Yoon-A), who is the wife of a presidential candidate played by Cho Seong-Ha. Yoona plays Ko An-Na, the secret daughter of the presidential hopeful.

"K2" will premiere on Sept. 23 on tvN.

  2. Hei everyone, first time to comment here.Love the drama and i think it'sone of the best if not the best remake drama in asian drama history.Love the orignal but this one is super awesome and more realistic.Btw I'm surprised how Se Ra's character  isn't as annoying as Anna the original characterl.I remember that the reason why Anna came back  to Cun Xi was because she lost her job,and not because of their relationship :PAnyway i'm sure i'll start hating her soon but it's just that so far she's seems to be ok.I miss Anson thou :D

Couldn't sleep and it was past 4 am. My mind was blank. Then my sister told me "watch So Ji Sub dramas and don't pressure yourself. You get sick" She said that with teary eyes. So I watched "We are dating now" and some parts of "Always" till 6 am. Just after that I could sleep for few hours. It's just wonderful that I can find solace watching him. So that's real when we say his mere presence is a blessing. God loves this man so much. He has created him to make people happy. To give them hope. To say "I'm with you.". That's wonderful about this man. God bless him.

I watch everything and anything with him. Even if the actress is Suzy, Park Min Young, Moon Gong young, etc. I'm sorry. Nooooo offense intended. I can't stand any of them (I'm trying to be a good girl here and not use the strongest expression I'm used to use for describing my feelings for them) along with many other actresses. Still, I'll watch. Because I'm just sooo crazy about him. I can't help but to watch. I just have seen ISJ in MISA. She seems to be good. I can't judge her acting.

But I do wish with you that he, one day, gets the international recognition and we can see him walking proudly on Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Oscar red carpet. I wonder why he hasn't entered Hollywood yet. Maybe he doesn't like it. My God, I badly badly badly miss him.

But I've always wished he would co-star top actresses. I some how can't imagine Sonick with JRW. I feel they don't go well together appearance-wise. And in case of the acting Snick is on the higher level. In general, I think there are just few K-actresses who can be on his level. One is Ha Ji Won. Although they've worked together in WHIB, but they were still a bit raw there. I do love to see them again together on screen. The other one is Kim Suna. She's a great actress. And recently, I've discovered Jianna Jun after watching some parts of MLFAS. How I wish to see her co-starring him. I love when actresses are comfortable with their co-stars and are not stiff expressing their feelings. These three are in this category. I feel sorry to say this but except Gong Hyu Jin and Ha Ji won his other co-stars haven't been on his level at all.

I saw "Sign" which was another drama that the writer of "Ghost" Kim Eun Hee wrote and I must admit that I was a bit disappointed in that drama.  Even though I watch pretty much everything that Park Shin Yang does (he along with Kim Myung Min and So Ji Sub are pretty much the only Korean actors that I have faith in terms of acting that I would watch whatever they do), it was one of his weaker dramas IMO.  The storyline was a little amateurish and something always seemed off and it didn't help that the actress who was playing the "nemesis" (the same actress who played the modern day Cha Hee Joo in TMS) is a one-note actress.

In some aspects, I felt the same with "Ghost" in terms of the storyline and the whole "Face Off" thing... I mean, if any man could get their face re-created to like SJS, who wouldn't, right?!?!.  Also, the whole vaccine program thing was straight out of the Sandra Bullock movie "The Net."  But I must say, I was more glued to my seat for the next episode in "Ghost" than I was for "Sign," maybe because of SJS, maybe because the villain was a better actor than in "Sign", maybe because I'm more interested in computers than CSI type of thing, who knows.  But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole drama.

My only wish was that they had gotten a different actress as the female lead.  It was really annoying how they had to keep mentioning that she was an uljjang for no apparent reason other than to explain why someone as pretty as Lee Yeon Hee was working as a cop, I guess.  I really don't mind Lee Yeon Hee in general, but for this type of genre, I thought she was a bit weak in the role.  If there were some sort of romance, she might have come across better, but some of her line deliveries were a bit odd and her facial reactions were strange.  I LOVE LOVE LOVED crazy cow and the relationship between SJS's character and him.  The other side actors were all really good too (with the minor exception of G.O., but that's to be expected with idols, I guess).  Seriously, the acting more than anything carried this drama off.  Of course, SJS looking the hottest in here didn't hurt either :P
