Ha Ji Won is the queen of Goeryo in Hwatu

After played North Korean woman in The King 2 Hearts, Ha JI Won decides to be the queen of Goeryo in her new drama titled Hwatu.Ha Ji Won”s role is Empress Ki, a real person in Goeryo’s history.The drama itself tells story of love and conflicts in the life of Empress Ki.
It’s interesting to see how Ha Ji Won will portray her character as an empress as she said in the SBS’ talkshow ‘Thank You’ that she always get invested so deep to her character.
She said that after filmed action thriller Sector 7 (where her character was described lost all her family), she couldn’t break away from her character. So that she needed psychiatric therapy to be prepared for her new drama Secret Garden at that time.
Hwatu is scheduled for the second part of 2013 on MBC and coming from writer Jang Young Chul and Jung Kyung Soon who made Daejoyoung, Giant and The History of Salaryman.

Really excited for this. This will be one of her biggest projects. She will be queen of a 60-episode sageuk drama, which will be an anniversary presentation of mbc. And I love mbc's sageuks.

Ha Ji Won is really amazing, i think she is the most underrated actress in Korea. She made other become big stars and even directors, but she never choose someone who can make her shine, she doesn't like to outshine and stays always in the dark. While she works the hardest, others shines of her work. Another reason that she is not the most popular is that she never had rumors, scandals, there is not even 1 picture from paparazzi in 13 years, while others more popular actresses are famous more for rumors, scandals and relationships that their acting!About the fact that she is not the prettiest actress, i think many times she is really tired and her eyes become little and swollen, her face is often really tired, and she doesn't always go to beauty centers, because she is always working and may look less pretty while other actresses are always relaxed, and in beauty centers and with heavy make up so they may look prettier, but i think that she is really beautiful inside and out.

she is very popular in korea. She is called korea's national actress. :x Yeah. She is beautiful inside and out. Many veteran actors/actresses and MCs praised her not only for her beauty but also for her personality. She is well-respected too. I guess that's why she manages to keep her privacy so well. And she is the type that gets more beautiful as you get to know her a little better.

@bearbarbiie1023, I love ha ji won 8n damo but I still have to finish watching it. She's really the greatest actress in korea. Who else would do such a character and do it well? Of course, even I could say that she's not really the prettiest face but her beauty has this strong but gentle character that sets her apart from any other celebrities. She's this type of woman that men want to take care of but they know that she can take care of herself, on her own.
And that movie miracle on 1st street, I remember reading an article about it and the PD said that ha ji won did all the boxing and she had gotten punched on the face so many times that she was hospitalized. And this just proved that she had never have plastic surgery.
Ha ji won is really my most favorite person in the world. I admire her character and personality and her beauty that is beyond skin-deep.

On kang dong won, I also noticed how sweet they were. It seemed like they had their own world. And right, she never attended any other fan meeting but it happened a long time ago. I wonder if they had something in the past. Hmmmmm. Fishy, really.
) Well, since we never hear anything as in anything about our ha ji won's dating status, the possibilities are endless.
and like all of you, im dying to know who is or will be her lifetime partner. -
@pieracapozucca, I also love kang dong won and ha ji won though I didn't completely understand their movie duelist.
I wished their were more dialogues in that movie. They looked so sweet together. If I had to pick the best partners for ha ji won, I would choose these 4: jo in sung, kwon sang woo (hope there's a new project for them in the nearest future), kang dong won, and hyun bin. So much chemistry that you couldn't help but fall in love with them. -

ha ji won and her partners in reel life. i think someone had posted something like this before but well, its just awesome to compile them once again. i dont know but im in a "love" mode for ha ji won.

with hyun bin. one of my favorite secret garden scenes. the way they walked together was just so lovely.

I just did a little backreading and omo!! So ji sub in a rom-com horror drama. I dont get the horror part but so ji sub in a rom-com is a wish come true for me. Wow! So excited!!! Another drama to look forward to

I feel so emotional when I think of her wedding day. I just think that she deserves the "rightest" person, after all the hard work and love she has given to all her fans.
But the problem is, I don't have any idea about her dating status.
and I don't want to speculate. But I will love the guy as much as I love her, whoever that guy will be, once she lets us know. No question asked. -
Ha ji won so pretty in white. It made me think of her wedding day. I hope she meets the lucky groom the soonest.

OMG! im getting more excited after reading koalasplayground. i like saqeuk and i dont mind how many episodes. i am just excited for ha ji won. this really a very great project for her and its MBC's anniversary project. what an honor and she deserves it.
girls, im sure you will love this and will not notice the number of episodes. i have watched jewel in the palace and jumong. imagine, jumong was 81 episodes. as long as the story is great and ha ji won is there, we can go through it all.
and just for fun, among all the actors that koalasplayground had listed, i prefer the following:
jang hyuk. so he was supposed to be kim joo won of secret garden. it would be nice to finally see ha ji won with him in a drama.
joo jin mo. he is handsome and he is indeed good in frozen flower though some of its scenes were toooooo much for me.
bae soo bin. it would be nice to have a good looking man with ha ji won, for this 60-episode drama. and he is a good actor too.
cha seung won. but i think he has a drama set for this year too so this would be only wishful thinking.
song II gook. he is already a sageuk drama expert, as what koalasplayground had blogged. this would really be an ultimate dream come true. song II gook and ha ji won in a project together.
and i hope all these men are single and available so that after this long drama ends, who knows what will happen right? aside from getting great projects, i also hope that ha ji won will finally find the right person for her. -
Kwon sang woo really look good with ha ji won but if he's having a drama too then I don't think its possible for him to do hwatu drama with ha ji won.
I also prefer older guys for ha ji won. She has always been paired to younger actors. So ji sub is my number pick. Cha seung hun would also be nice. Or lee byung hun or jang dong gun. Lbh and jdg are great actors too.

Wow I am sooo excited, after reading all your posts. The writers are excellent so I hope they can influence the director. Because its a ha ji won drama, I will be hoping that this will be the director's turning point.
I dont mind the 60 episodes. I have watched jumong and jewel in the palace. Both are great dramas and Im sure hwatu will be just as great.

on song seung hun, after that interview, there were even articles about him getting disappointed because ha ji won chose a different actor that she wanted to work with. Since then, I wanted to see them together in a project. -
I think instead of song jong ki, ha ji won should pair up with gong yoo. :x
