    "It was impossible to join them properly by phone. I barely had the time to ask after them and if they had received my letters and the three minutes would already be over.  This is the first time I felt that three minutes could be that short. But I still bared it, and called. When I hang up, tears eventually began to flow. I wanted to hold it back, but I ended crying. These were the happiest three minutes of my life."


    This is the military diary of Yoo Seung Ho which was revealed to the public through the café of the Division 27 of the Army Recruit Training Center. The experience of this short conversation with his parents is described as "The happiest three minutes in my life." Besides, some daily life moments were also unveiled such as" This morning, when I ate the special army hamburger I had been waiting for, I was really happy". This is to relieve the people who were curious about his military life by saying 'Yoo Seung Ho is fine!'


    Three months ago, Yoo Seung Ho decided to enlist in the military without any notice. He took a totally different path than the other celebrities who ordinary organize a press conference and a fan meeting before enlisting.  He said that only the representative of his agency and his family were present at the site where he enlisted. After enlisting, he explained to his fansign a video and a short writing he left on his fan café the reason why he decided to go to the army and why he did it without telling everybody beforehand." I feel quite sorry I didn't tell you the date of my enlistment beforehand. However, I thought enlisting quietly was a way not to create any troubles to the other people who were enlisting at the same time as me. Many people are thinking that my enlistment is premature but this is a normal event to enlist at my age. As I was experiencing the life of an actor those last 10 years, I received a lot of stress and I also wanted to get out of my repetitive life. I needed a new kind of experience." 

    It has been a bit over a month since he enlisted. Even though, his every move is still being reported one after the other. This time, a picture of the march has been published. The "Recruit Yoo Seung Ho" who finished the latest 15 km march seems to have matured a lot during this time. It is said that even among all the recruits, his grades at training are especially good; his name is on the list of the 16 people (out of more than 250 people) who have excellent grades. Yoo Seung Ho, who has enlisted as a military 102 draft active duty, finished his 5th week of basic military training before receiving some more training at the current battalion Division 27 of the 2nd Army Recruit Training Center. It is then expected that his assignment will be decided during May.

    Because of Yoo Seung Ho's choice to enlist quietly in order not to draw attention and the different path he chose regardless of people's opinion, every step of his military life is being exposed to the public and his family and agency requested people to restrain this interest. They said that they would like people to respect Yoo Seung Ho's wish to halt his actor life and to do his best as a normal young man in military duty. An agency official added that as Yoo Seung Ho's military pictures and daily life facts are made public, his parents especially are getting very upset.
    "Nowadays, all the units have an internet café so when family members or friends post letters online, the company commander or the battalion commander collect them and transmits them to the soldiers. However, when seeing that even the conversation with his mother is being published, his parents who fear that it would hit the headlines can't write any letters. There are no parents who wouldn't be worried after sending their child to the army. But since they can't even write a letter (to their child), their heart must be in pain. As his agency, we also would like you to hold back your interest for the time he is living as a soldier who was called by his country. Only then will Seung Ho be able to be devoted to his military service."
    The agency asked again the members of Yoo Seung Ho's fanclub not to send any letters to his unit. They said that this is not to make his fellow soldiers feel any relative deprivation. It looks like they intend to respect the private time of Yoo Seung Ho, who isn't an entertainer in many ways."If it wasn't the case, he wouldn't have gone to the military without anyone knowing. We may call all the reporters and have a press conference. But try to think about it.  Every other's parents who have sent their child to the army are also sad, so I would like you to control yourself and show some common sense to understand that you shouldn't go there to interview Yoo Seung Ho."

    His agency also has a clear position about the time of his enlistment. "Since he didn't get into university, it is a normal event for him to go to the army. Seung Ho also thought the same. He does something normal and we are rather being a burden seeing this as something special. When he took the decision not to go to university, this was also, to be honest, the result of a simple thought. Because of his acting career, he attended half of his courses at school and didn't have time to study.  It was hard to enter university with his grades. He could have entered university through a special admission but even if he did, his situation didn't let him focus on his study so he gave up the idea to enter university." 

    In 2011, Yoo Seung Ho refused a proposition of special admission and gave up the idea to enter university. When talking about going there, Yoo Seung Ho said :"I learn acting on the spot since I was a child. If I were to enter university, I guess it would be into the Department of Theater so I didn't want to limit the opportunities of other students for a diploma. I do my best at acting in the field, and if there is something I want to study in the future, then I don't think it would be too late."
    In the same way, he disclosed his thought about the army :"I didn't want to waste time being idle and decided to go to the army. This is a decision I made before filming the drama "Missing You".  I didn't have any fear about going to the army. I only wanted to receive the same treatment as other people my age and live normally."
    The agency official underlined many times they wanted people to respect Yoo Seung Ho's thoughts. They said that the opinion of Yoo Seung Ho will, as expected, affect a lot the way he will be assigned. We also heard that Yoo Seung Ho's parents, just like his battalion, are worried whether they will be assigned to a difficult place to train."Reporters have published on the internet that Seung Ho's battalion has already received its assignment, but this is false. They are still military trainees. It is said that their assignment will be decided after they receive some more training. Nowadays, it seems like enlisted men in the military tend to give their opinion a lot. Although we don't know exactly what Seung Ho's thought is, his parents hope he will not receive a too tough assignment.They said :'If we are to send battalions, send the Marine Corps like said at first, why were they sent to the army' (laugh) They are very worried.     Recently, Yoo Seung Ho's photo bookin which he poured, before enlisting, his thankful heart towards his fans who will be waiting for him for 2 years, has been released. This is a project he had been planning even since before beginning to film the drama 'Missing You', and he had scheduled it to be published just after he joined the army. This is also a (fan) service for Yoo Seung Ho's fans to whom he didn't say goodbye before enlisting. The photobook "Spring snow, and…" has been genuinely filled with pictures which captured Yoo Seung Ho's everyday life, as well as the worries and thoughts he has when being at the border between a child actor and a grown man, his trivial tastes, his honest heart just before enlisting and his dreams and resolutions for the future.
    To begin, he drew attention on the worries about his actor life and one of his resolutions by saying "I'll become an actor who goes all the way". As he stands at the border between a child actor and a grown man, he recalled the time when he was impatient and concluded naturally by telling us about that period."Each time I saw an article about famous foreign child actors who were going on a not so smooth path of life, I felt anxious and also impatient. If I say I didn't have any compulsion about my appearance and my success, it would be a lie. Just like my friends, should I also find my way by studying? Should I try doing sports? While having interest in this and that, I tried to find a way other than acting. However, in the end, I felt the most at ease when I was acting."
    He said the same kind of things in his past interview. He confessed seriously :"I couldn't enjoy acting. I began acting a bit unwillingly because of my parents. Of course, now I'm thankful to them but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to continue this way (acting). " and he added"Sometimes I wonder what I would be doing now if I wasn't an actor. I tried to study. When I was in school, my grades weren't embarrassing but I didn't understand the use. I studied because my parents wanted me to, but I didn't find it interesting at all. I also tried doing sports for my health.  However, showing of my special skills at sport wasn't something I enjoyed. I tried everything, but my heart was only at ease when it came to acting. Seeing that, I am really thankful to all those who helped me until now. "He said it was because he wanted to break free from the words "You're still young".
    "If athletes train a lot, their body becomes better and their skills improve. However, it is slightly different for actors. The age is a constraint. I felt anxious when I saw people fighting and growing up, and I wanted to do better, but each time I heard a lot people saying "You're still young". Middle school students can't even do actions or melodramas and since they can't film bed scene for the time being, no matter how good they are, child actor are still child indeed. Nowadays, my biggest worry is also that people only remember me as the kid of the movie "The Way Home". I want to diversify. I have to make a name as an adult actor. However, I can't do anything but wait for this time. There's a saying that the life of a male actor who used to live with confidence emerge. I want to show you an acting founded on my experience once I became fully an adult by going through difficult and common things.
    This is from an interview made 6 months before he entered the army. In past too, each time he couldn't be acknowledged as a full adult actor because of his child actor image, he felt desolated as if he was bumping into a wall and this well-known person felt heavily burdened as he wanted to live his life freely just like his same age friends. Already when he was a child, as the best child actor of South Korea, the public had a lot of expectations for him, but until he turned 20 years old after passing through adolescence, this was a time when he had a lot of burden and worries. He was able to find the solution to his worries through the drama 'Missing You'. 'Harry', wholives uncomfortably with the trauma of having been abandoned by his mother and is nervously obsessed over whether the woman he loves will ever leave him. He had a go with a difficult character who is a serial killer and a psychopath, and he was able to leave a strong impression to his fans. In his photo book, he confessed that even after the drama finished, it was hard to get out of theafter image of the dark and depressed character Harry. It was his last work before going to the army, and it seems like because he used all his soul and might with passion more than ever before for this psychopath role, the after shock was quite long."I hate obvious characters. To be honest, I wanted to play a true psychopath character that we can see in movies instead of usually in dramas. As I become mature, I had the thirst for an intense and unusual role. It was really a chance for me to portray the role of Harry in 'Missing You'."
    After the end of the drama, he directly left for Japan. There, seeing people surfing at the beach of Kamakura, he thought he absolutely had to learn how to surf in the future. He said that with the long trip of his military service ahead, he organized his mind during his trip to Japan and added to look as much as deem fit at thecharming and free inner side of a 20 years old youth that can't becapturedanymore if not right now. "Now that I entered a wide world, I want to live many experiences. As I got older, my determination grew bigger as I observed the sunbaes who overflow with charm and have as many wrinkles as years of experience. I also intend to delay going to university and finish my military service first. Since I lived my life neatly as a young boy, now I want to use my time as an adult traveling."

    The official website of 27th Division Recruit Center was updated on May 4 with two photos of Yoo Seung Ho.

    The first picture shows him posing with a victory sign besides other soldiers. He comforts the fans with his content smile and peace sign. In the second picture, he is in the middle of training and follows his commander’s orders.

    A few advertisement photos and pictorials of Yoo Seung Ho were released after he started his military service on March 5. After receiving five weeks of basic military training, he was transferred to the 27th Division Recruit Center for more training and his post for his remaining time in duty will be determined in mid-May.

    시선을 움직여, 순간적으로 리퀘스트받은 표정을 만들어 냈다.
    애절한 남자의 옆모습과 소년스러운 미소가 혼재되어 있는 유승호는, 지금밖엔 볼 수 없을지도 모른다.

    카 메라맨의 "애절한 느낌으로"라는 목소리에, 순식간에 웃고있던 얼굴이 변하던 유승호. 그 순간, 훕 하고 숨을 들이마시게 되었다. 한류드라마의 천재 아역으로 그의 이름을 거론하는 사람들이 많을 것이다. 연예계 데뷰의 계기는 어머니가 응모하신 패션잡지의 어린이 모델. 2002년의 영화 [집으로]에서 각광을 받고, [슬픈 연가], [태왕사신기],[선덕여왕] 등 인기있고 주목받는 드라마에 연이어 출연하면서, 한국에서는 '국민남동생'이라며 사랑받은 유승호. 일본에도 여러번 왔었던 것 같다.
    "10번정도 방문했지만, 대부분 일때문이었어요. 개인적인 시간이 별로 없었지요. 고등학교 때 제2외국어로 일본어를 배웠기 때문에 혼자 도쿄에 와서 맛있는 음식을 먹거나, 친구들을 사귀거나 하면서 2-3개월 머물고는 싶어요"
    라는 달콤한 대답을 해주었다. 7살 때부터 아역배우로 활동하고 있으니까, 처음 만나는 사람이나 장소에 익숙할 것이라고 생각하는데, 설마 긴장하고 있나요?
    "예(웃음). 직업 특성상, 감독님으로부터 큐싸인을 받고 연기를 할 때는 긴장하지 않지만, 처음 만나는 사람이나 장소는 좀 어려워요"
    라고 솔직하게 얘기해주는 그가 처음 악역에 도전한 작품이 액션 사극 [무사 백동수]. 조선 최고의 협객으로 성장하는 백동수의 라이벌로, "살성"을 갖고 있는 천재 검객 여운을 연기했다.
    " 여운이라는 역할은 지금까지의 연기 경험이 있었기에 할 수 있었다고 생각할 정도로 어려운 캐릭터였어요. 어두운 마음 속에는 정의감이 있기도 하고, 복수심이 있기도 했거든요. 서서히 웃는 얼굴을 보여주지 않는 것으로 심경을 표현했어요. 소년에서 어른으로 성장하던 고교시절에 이 작품을 만나서, 정말 좋았다고 생각하고 있어요"
    사람을 죽이게 된다는 불길한 "살성" 아래서 태어났기에, 운명에 농락당하는 여운. 유승호 자신은 어떤 별 아래서 태어났다고 생각해요?
    "음.. 어렵네요.. 좀 생각해봐도 될까요?"

    연상의 여성과는 편하게 지낼 수 있을 것 같아요

    그럼, 유승호씨는 여운과 달리 여성에게 스트레이트로 사랑하는 마음을 전할 수 있나요?
    " 긴장해서 고백 못해요. 신경을 쓰고 있으면서도 신경을 안 쓰는 척 한다거나, 괜한 참견을 하거나 하지 않을까 (웃음). 동갑이 이상형이긴 하지만, 연상이라면 저보다 여러가지를 알고 있어서, 편하게 지낼 수 있을 것 같아요. 그 때의 기분에 따라 다르긴 하겠지만, 나이와 상관없이 남자로써 여자를 이끌고 싶을 때가 있다면, 여자가 이끌어주길 바랄 때도 있으니까요"
    운 동은 좀 자신없지만, 또 다시 [무사 백동수] 같은 액션 사극에 출연하고 싶다고 이야기하는 그가 "남자의 매력"을 보여준 것이 최근 출연한 [보고싶다]. 라이벌 역의 박유천(JYJ). 여주인공인 윤은혜와 함께, 복잡하게 짜여진 러브스토리를 연기하고 있다.
    "이 드라마에서 연기하고 있는 형준이는 만나는 사람에 따라 태도가 전혀 달라져요. 비밀이 많은 인물로, 저와는 전혀 닮지 않았어요 (웃음). 현장에서는 박유천씨가 신경을 많이 써주셔서 편하고 즐겁게 촬영하고 있어요"
    올해 1월에 한국에서 방송이 종료된 이 작품에서, 배우로써 더욱 빛을 발했다는 높은 평가를 받은 그. 다음 작품을 기대하게 만든 19살의 그는 많은 연예인처럼 대학에 진학하지 않고, 이후 군복무를 하기로 선택했다.
    "10 대에는 학생 역할을 많이 했어요. 하지만, 이대로 10대 이미지로부터 벗어나지 않는 것은 좋지 않다고 생각해요. [집으로]에서 갑자기 지금의 저로 변한 것은 아니잖아요. 그동안 10대에 쌓아온 것들을 20대에서 보여주는 배우가 되고 싶어요"
    아쉽지만, 여기서 시간이 종료. 마지막까지 대답을 들을 수 없었던 유승호가 갖고 있는 "별"은 많은 사람들을 몰입하게 만드는 "배우별" 일 것이라고 믿으며, 제대의 그 날을 기다리겠습니다.

      “MISSING YOU” DEBUTS STRONGLY IN PRIMETIME ON PILOT TELECAST; TRENDS ON TWITTER. ABS-CBN’s newest primetime Korean drama “Missing You” debuted strongly on its premiere telecast last Monday (Apr 22) with a national TV rating of 14.4%  beating GMA 7’s “The Greatest Love” with 9.4%, based on data from Kantar Media. The Koreanovela, topbilled by two of Asia’s most popular artists Park Yoo-Chun and Yoon Eun-Hye, successfully sustained the high rating delivered by the recently concluded soap “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” in its late primetime slot. It was also among the top trending topics in the country in popular micro-blogging site Twitter. “Missing You” is compelling story about a man longing to be reunited with his one true love and his undying faith that one day, she will return to him.     Many fans were left weeping when hot, young actor Yoo Seung Ho enlisted in the military on March 5, 2013. They wondered how they would last the two years of his mandatory service. Thankfully, it seems that Yoo Seung Ho prepared some fan service before he entered the military, as we have seen a steady release of the news about the actor for the past month.
    On April 15, Yoo Seung Ho released a photo book, titled “Travel letter, Spring Snow and…,” to keep his fans company during the long wait. The photo book features the actor on a vacation in Japan and also includes a revealing and personal interview. The teaser photos emphasize Yoo Seung Ho’s charm as a boy who is at the cusp of manhood, looking innocent yet mature. They leaves fan in high expectation for the actor’s return from the military as a full-grown man ready to seize the hearts of viewers of all ages.
    The photos were taken by the photographer Bori, who recently passed away on April 8 from a brain hemorrhage. She was only 40.  She had commented after working with Yoo Seung Ho on this photo book, “I want to take pictures of Yoo Seung Hoo until I am a white-haired grandma.”

    Yoo Seung Ho has been awarded for good results during his training!

    According to the 27th reserve’s new recruit training homepage, the actor was one of the soldiers to receive the Battalion Commander’s Excellence Award. Only 16 out of the 250 new recruits are given the distinction of excellence.

    Yoo Seung Ho earned the Battalion Commander’s Excellence Award for his close-order drills. He also received a special award that gives him a night off to spend with family and close friends.

    He’ll finish his basic training on the 11th, and then receive his final assigned station.

    After completing his five-week training, it has been reported that Yoo Seung Ho won the Battalion Commander’s Excellence Award from the New Soldiers Education Unit.

    On the homepage of the 27th New Soldiers Education Unit, in which Yoo Seung Hoo trained for five weeks, a list of all the soldiers who scored an excellent score was posted.

    Out of the 250 training soldiers in the unit, Yoo Seung Ho was one of the 16 whose names were posted on the Excellence Award list. Yoo Seung Ho received this award for receiving high marks in the discipline training through close-order drills.

    On April 11, Yoo Seung Ho will receive a certification of completion as well as an overnight vacation reward.

    It seems like Yoo Seung Ho is adjusting well to his military life as he showed that he is working hard and being diligent in training.

    Previously, Yoo Seung Ho enlisted in the army on March 8 but only announced this to his fans three days prior.

    Actor Yoo Seung Ho has received his assignment in the military. After going through his basic training, Yoo Seung Ho has been assigned to the 27th search battalion.

    On April 9th, the cafe site for the 27th Recruitment revealed the news of Yoo Seung Ho’s placement. After finishing ceremonies on April 11th, the actor will join his new battalion for specialized training.  He will then receive his final orders and placement.

    Yoo Seung Ho joined the military in secret on March 5th when he shared the news afterwards on his fan cafe. Once his training with the 27th is completed, he will receive assignments on where he will serve for the remainder of his 21 months in the military.

    The actor is also said to want to serve in the regular army and not in the entertainment division, so he can make friends and be with people his age.

    Korean’s little brother Yoo Seung Ho quietly enlisted for his mandatory military service in early March this year. As a parting gift for fans, the popular young actor is releasing his first photobook. The book is filled with not only photos but also letters from Yoo Seung Ho.


    This photo book, ‘Travel Letter Spring Snow, and …’, will document the 21-year-old actor enjoying his last vacation in Japan prior to his enlistment.
    Yoo Seung Ho also opened up about his plans for the future, sharing, “If I go to college, I would’ve been a theater major, but I didn’t want to limit the opportunities of my friends just to get my diploma. As I get older, I became even more determined as I observed my [charming and experienced] sunbaes who overflow with charms. I also decided to delay going to college because I wanted to finish my military service first.”
    The full photo book will be available for sale exclusively online on April 15th.
