The upcoming drama Producers just sounds better and better! Right after news that Kim Soo Hyun is "positively considering" making his comeback with the writer of My Love from Another StarIU has been offered the part of the female lead! We also have the first confirmed star, with Cha Tae Hyun officially accepting a leading role in the upcoming series.

If she accepts the role, IU would be playing a popular star who has been in the limelight for ten years since she became an idol at age 13. Her nickname is "Ice Princess" because of her caution in interpersonal relationships.

This sounds like a departure from IU's typically cheerful roles, so it would be interesting to see her doing something a little different. If she and Kim Soo Hyun both accept the casting offers, it would also mean that it's a reunion for the Dream High stars! Can we just pause for a moment to remember this great Sam Dong/Pil Suk duet?

In addition to IU's potential casting, Cha Tae Hyun (My Sassy Girl) has officially accepted a role in the series. He will play an 8-year veteran variety show PD, and Kim Soo Hyun's character would play a rookie PD in his department. Cha Tae Hyun reportedly accepted the role because Seo Min Soo will be producing the drama. She has been involved with a number of popular variety shows, including 2 Days, 1 Night, which Cha Tae Hyun hosts.

Producers is currently planned to premiere on KBS on April 17, though the time slot has not been confirmed. You can sign up for new episode alerts HERE!

What do you think of this potential cast? Would you like to see an IU/Kim Soo Hyun reunion? While we wait for casting confirmations, you can see them both in Dream High.

    iuksh.jpg
Recently, IU has been revealed to be a candidate for the lead roles in KBS’ upcoming drama “Producer” staring actor Kim Soo Hyun.
A rep. from KBS said, “It is true that IU is offered a role in the drama but nothing has been confirmed yet”.
Producer” drew a lot of attention as the next work of Park Ji-eun, a writer of the hit drama “My Love from the Star”. It tells about the producers of a variety show and set to air in April. In the drama, Kim Soo Hyun and IU were offered the roles of a rookie producer and a famous singer, respectively.
If both appear in “Producer,” it will mark their reunion after four years since KBS's “Dream High”.
Kim Soo Hyun and IU are both Hallyu stars and close friends. Many fans are expecting to see their new project.

  3. IU courted to reunite with Kim Soo-hyun in Producerby girlfriday | March 2, 2015 | 56 Comments

    IU1.jpg

Well, you had me at Cha Tae-hyun, but I won’t say no if you just keep casting people I like. KBS’s new drama about varietyland called Producer has an offer out to singer-actressIU (Pretty Man, You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin) to play the leading lady, opposite Kim Soo-hyun in a possible Dream High reunion. How cute would they be? I feel a Dream Highmarathon weekend coming on…

The showbiz drama comes from star variety PD Seo Soo-min (Superman Returns, 1 Night 2 Days Season 3) and You From Another Star writer Park Ji-eun. It stars Cha Tae-hyun as a 10-year veteran variety PD with a mile-long list of credits to his name, but none of them are noteworthy in any way. Kim Soo-hyun plays the rookie PD who ditches the path to becoming a prosecutor and heads to work at the variety department of a TV network. Why does he do this? Why, for love, of course.

Maybe IU is that reason, though if she is, it makes him a little bit of a crazy fanboy with a pipe dream. She’ll play a singer who began as a trainee at the tender age of 13, and has grown up to be a 10-year veteran top star. She’s an ice princess with a poker face, mostly because she doesn’t like to let anyone else in. She has good reason to be guarded though, because she’s had too much experience with people who act as if they’d carve out their own livers for her if she needed, only to stab her in the back. She now knows to keep everyone at a safe distance, and never lets herself feel deep affection for anyone.

I’m curious to know what kind of variety program the show-within-a-show will be, because the parody possibilities are endless. So far Cha Tae-hyun is confirmed, while Kim Soo-hyun and IU are still considering their offers. The role of a female PD has yet to be cast to complete the main… lovesquare? Sun/hoobae-square? IU has made the transition from singing to acting well, and has gotten considerably better since her acting debut in Dream High. I’d love to see them paired up here, though I’d like some assurances that her ice princess won’t be a bitchy diva without a heart. Coming from the writer who created Chun Song-yi, I guess I don’t really have anything to be worried about, do I?

Producer is tentatively aiming for a Friday-Saturday slot beginning April 17.

  4. IU lands lead in ‘Producers’ drama

Soloist IU is returning with a new drama series rather than an album, according to an exclusive report by Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily.

The sports daily reported Tuesday that the 22-year-old singer has landed a lead role in an upcoming drama series tentatively titled “Producers.”

It will be IU’s first drama role in two years after her last, “You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin” (2013).

In the new series, IU will play a top singer who began training at age 13 and has been through many ups and downs before becoming a top star.

IU is likely to pair up with actor Kim Soo-hyun of “My Love from the Star” (2014) for the drama. The two worked together before for drama series “Dream High” in 2011.

Actor Cha Tae-hyun is also likely to appear in the series as a producer.

“Producers” will be written by Park Ji-eun, who penned “My Love from the Star” - the biggest hit drama of last year. It is expected to start airing in April.

IU debuted in the music scene in 2008 and has been extremely successful as a singer-songwriter, but she began acting from 2011 with the teenage drama series “Dream High.”

Singer IU is reportedly in talks to be the female lead of a new drama on KBS 2TV.

According to a KBS associate on March 2, IU has been suggested as the female lead of a drama called “Producer” (working title). The part is that of a popular star singer.

The associate said, “It is true that IU is being discussed as the female lead of ‘Producer,’ but it has not been confirmed. There are no confirmations for the casting besides Cha Tae Hyun.”

“Producer” will tell a story of happenings at a broadcast station. The drama will be produced by Seo Soo Min, who has led “Gag Concert” and “1 Night 2 Days,” while the script was written by Park Ji Eun, who has written “My Love from the Stars,” “My Husband Got A Family,” and “Queen of Reversals.”

Actress Gong Hyo Jin might be making her return to the small screen sooner than expected.

According to her agency, the star has received an offer to star in the upcoming KBS2TV drama, tentatively titled “Producer,” by the writer of last year’s biggest drama sensation “My Love from the Stars.” With Cha Tae Hyun already confirmed for one of the lead roles, other actors in talks to join the production include Kim Soo Hyun and IU.

“She has been offered the role of a variety show PD of ten years. We are positively looking over the offer,” her agency stated to MyDaily.

If Gong Hyo Jin decides to take on the role, the drama would mark her comeback just seven months after wrapping up SBS’ “It’s Okay, That’s Love” which ended its run in September.

The weekend drama is scheduled to premiere on April 17.

  6. IDK... I'm kind of excited, but kind of not. It's another KBS drama and another singing role. I feel like IU should do something different now to prove her versatile acting.

It's always happen when she got an offer Hahaha. I'm always confuse which one I have to support. But if I just follow my heart without using my logic, I personally prefer to say "Just go for it IU!".

  7. HATE HATE AND HATE...

    1. [+6,709, -615] From Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun to IU... what were they thinking

    2. [+5,027, -400] Just please focus on your album promotions... acting again? ㅠㅠ Personally don't think acting's for her...

    3. [+3,726, -220] Hul ㅋㅋㅋ with Kim Soo Hyun..?

    4. [+2,874, -213] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    5. [+1,020, -79] Even just as a singer, she's your girl next door style... as if she could pull off some ice princess top star look. It doesn't match her image at all and it's only going to get her into more acting controversies.

    6. [+977, -44] So I hope Kim Soo Hyun rejects this drama now

    7. [+932, -46] Producers, please think this over... not IU... Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun and then.. IU... let's think this over again

    8. [+818, -29] I like IU as a singer but... I don't think Kim Soo Hyun will be taking this drama now ㅋㅋ

    -

    Source: Nate

    1. [+479, -91] IU's acting in 'Lee Soo Shin' was... she just acted over the top. And her Shin Bong Sun visuals stood out more.

    2. [+457, -96] IU just finally recovered her anchovy image with the success of her album last year and she's out to ruin it again with another drama? Please, acting isn't for you.. your visuals are already so childish that it won't help you land any diverse roles in the long term.

    3. [+406, -60] That drama she was in with Jang Geun Suk was absolute trash... she has a good head when it comes to making decisions like not going to college but I don't get why she insists on acting.

  8. I'm so intelligent?? LMAO

    HAHAHAHAHA....

What intelligence have anything to do with skin?? XDD

Anyway... I'm glad IU have more product to endorse. Maybe we will see another one or two more product because I think her popularity will keep rise with the upcoming album.

  9. Congratulations, oppa...

    3. [+4,907, -34] Hul ㅋㅋㅋ unexpected!!! Wishing them a long relationship

    4. [+3,142, -37] ?????????????????

    5. [+676, -6] Hul.. two years already..

    6. [+633, -8] More surprised at Gummy being younger than him.. ㅡ.ㅡ Have a great love ㅋㅋ

    7. [+637, -23] I don't get it, I just don't get it

    8. [+570, -8] Hul ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Everyone thought he had something going on with Shin Min Ah when he was on Running Man ㅋㅋㅋㅋ what an unexpected couple

    9. [+458, -19] Hul, Gummy looks like the nuna..

    10. [+459, -5] Surprised that they've been dating for two years.. did Dispatch lose on this?

  10. Really?? LOL

But it's so simple... like really2 simple So I thought... XD

I mean... after I read all those amazing-beautiful-unique light stick other Idol has, it really leaves me that impression XDDD

Or maybe I'm just jealous they all have that and so proud about it while no Uaena post with "this is IU's lighstick, quite amazing bla bla bla..." ㅠㅠ

    And yea... LOL

IU is her own marketing for Loen bc Loen not even bother to do that for her. Yeah... I heard that myth so many times before LOL

  11. Yea... I saw that light stick once before. But like you said Nikki, it's an unofficial stuff. I thought it's fan made and for concert only.

But we don't have beautiful light stick like SNSD, 2NE1, Big Bang, Infinite etc. Even new boy group like Winner has amazing light stick.

Is it bc IU never hold big concert before? So Loen never give a thought on it. But isn't it fun to hold official light stick when IU perform eventho it's not her own concert?

Like maybe MAMA awards when IU perform there last time. She sings about 3 songs? It's more than any other idol perform I think.

I hope if someone from Loen read or spying this thread, or IU herself, or Korean Uaena... I hope they'll consider about this or ask IU about it.
