Scarlet Heart: Goryeo (New) (aka MoonJunki)
Oh, wow. Almost too much pretty. Hahahahhahahaha! Just kidding, when could THAT ever happen?
It's not bad, this drama! Yes, I managed to watch something! It's also not actually good though... so predictable (yes, that also goes for the original story) and quite a bit of horrendously bad acting. But as long as I keep using the ffward button, I will be fine. I don't see why IU is getting so much hate though, she really isn't any worse than any of the others.
This is an emotional watch. I don't see problems. I don't care what So does, at this point. My heart is breaking for that sad, lonely boy and I DO NOT CARE how swoony you GET, Wang Wook, I love Wang So. My heart is IN this, for some reason. I'll even give up PA Lee.
Jaehyus: Then PA Lee is mine.
This ought to be interesting...
Trotwood: (*busting in even though I'm not watching any Moon drama*) What? Did someone say PA Lee is free?!?! You are going to have to fight for PA Lee, Jaehyus.
When Lee Jun-ki is good, he is GOOD. With him, that means not too much overacting and lots of fight scenes. But I will be the first to admit that Kang Ha-neul looks VERY manly in this drama and I like it. I like it very much. He'll break our hearts into tiny little pieces, this kind prince, won't he.There's nipples and nipples and nipples and nipples and nipples... I can't stop seeing them!
This Wang Won fellow...he looks familiar but not really.I know shirtless is not technically naked for a man, but this is all very very very distracting.
I was wondering why they would bath with long black pants on!
I mean they were talking about something, and it seemed important, and there was probably something they had to do, but all I got in my brain were nips. I should get back to Changsha for a bit of rest...
I'm amazed that Kakashi was able to pull herself away from all the nipples to notice the wet black pants... but I'm glad she reminded me of them. I need to go back and rewatch.
In all honesty, those nipples don't really turn me on. But I'm glad Saki mentioned them because ovrall, they're probably this drama's biggest asset.
I'd have to agree regarding the nipples being the drama's biggest asset. I found myself walking away from the tablet a few times yesterday, which means I don't really care about anyone or anything on this show. Also, someone explain the Prince numbering system in the comments. Wook and So were born in the same year, but Wook is number 8 and So is number 4. Who are 5, 6 & 7? And because I'm watching Ep 3 out of boredom, I'd like to add that IU and Lee Junki have zero chemistry, while he has plenty with that girl playing Yeonhwa, and Baekhyun really is annoying. Final point, having now seen Ep 3: I'm less grossed out by the endogamy for some reason, than I am disturbed by 8th Prince falling for his wife's cousin who is also his ward and thus an adopted daughter. That is really creeping me out. (Don't forget that So will marry his half-sister! Ah, this family. They gave me a headache during Shine Or Go Crazy, and now they're at it again.)
I wasn't actually particularly enthused about any one set of nipples, no. As you know, I have my preferences in that area. But it is nice to have a group of attractive men shirtless within viewing distance.
I'm in. I'm so in. Is it Monday yet?
I miss my sad wolf so much. Is it time yet? Is it time yet?
IT IS!

I'm sorry but who these people are that they feel they can trash an entire work on which dozen of people spent months of hard work and lack of sleep, while giggling and behaving like immature little pests. Seriously, I've no problem with rightful criticism but this is not it. For instance I often disagree with the views of the girls at dramabeans but at least they are always respectful enough of the actors and production staff to post full reviews and arguments when they don't like something. I hope ranting like I just did isn't against the rules (if it is, let me know and I'll delete this part), as it is, I believe unless it comes from a well respected reviewer, these kinds of opinions are not anymore valuable than anyone posting their thoughts on twitter or instagram (and we aren't posting every single negative post we encounter on the net regarding this drama, so why post this one).
Last but not least, their question on who are the princes between the 4th and the 8th, I'm really surprised it is asked so often because to me it's obvious given that TaeJo had like 30 wives and concubines that several princes may have been born the same year and if they didn't make it to the drama, chance is they are dead already. Let's not forget the year is 940sth and children and childbirth mortality rates were really high at that time (that's also why people kept having so many children, hoping at least a few would make it to their adult years).

Now the astronomer guy is a different story. He seems to be leading the King with tidbits about the stars alignment etc when in actuality I think he's borrowing the facts from history and leading the King in the direction he should go. I wonder though how he feels about another time traveller in that era with him. If it was me I'd be dying of curiosity but he doesn't seem to be that bothered. Maybe we'll find out why later on.
The astronomer is really the character that intrigues me most right now. From his knowledge/outfit and objects in his place I would say he doesn't come from the 21st century like Haesoo but more like the first part of the 20th. I think it's a theory that has already been discussed here but I believe the eclipse really played a role in bringing him to Goryeo just like it did with Haesoo. And who knows maybe he has been travelling throughout history each time there was a new eclipse but never able to go back to his time. I mean eclipses are rare especially full ones but if you travel back hundreds or thousand years ago and land at a time there is one happening then it's possible to time travel several times, though as I said, with the risk of not getting back to your original time. Anyway, I find that part fascinating.

Hi everyone, old/new member here. Actually had an account for a very long time but forgot about it because I'm mostly a lurker.
Anyway, I've been following a lot of drama threads since forever but never had the will to join in the discussion been so strong as it is for SHR. The reason is the beautiful and tortured prince Wang So who reminds me so much of 2 of my favourite kdrama male characters Bidam in Queen Seondeok and Yoon Sung in City Hunter. These tortured characters who have been hurt and abused so much but still only aspire to be loved and belong really tug at my hearstrings and more than that I relate to them in a way. But even then, Wang So is so far the most pitiful because he really had no one for so long and was fighting all alone to survive while going through the worst possible abuse. And when you see the adult man he became, it's a miracle how well adjusted he actually is, like yes he has violent episodes but these are definitely normal given the way he grew up. He's basically a feral child but one whose core is good and soft.
That's why I really enjoy the way they are proceeding so far in regards to his relationship with Hae Su because what he needed more than anything was kinship and care, someone who wouldn't see him as a beast but as a human being and not recoil. The developing friendship between Su and So and the way they naturally click and understand each other (that emoji deciphering scene has my heart), both outcasts is so heartwarming to me in a way romances in kdrama rarely are because I very often find them too superficial.
Regarding our second lead; as beautiful and talented as Kang Haneul is (what beautiful soulful eyes that man has), I feel nothing for Wook to the point where I think that if he weren't played by KHN I would probably end up skipping some of his scenes. I never was into the 'nice guy' archetype because it's fake. What you want is not a 'nice guy' but a good man and that isn't the same at all. A nice guy is mainly about appearances and very often too cowardly to fully take action and then lashes out when things don't go his way, a good man has the will to do what he feels is right no matter the cost. Also, contrary to a lot of people, it's not the polygamy aspect of the Su/Wook ship that bothers me because I was fully invested in the BangWon/BoonYi ship in Six Flying Dragons despite BangWon being married but really because I don't see what Wook and Su have as real love but infatuation.
I'm a long time Lee Jun Ki fan but I'm once again amazed at his ability to bring so many facets and expressions to his characters. The first scene of episode 4 with his mother had me completely floored at all the emotions he was able to showcase through his gorgeous eyes. And it's funny because while watching SHR, there were a few times where one of his expressions reminded me of Gonggil (his character in the King and the Clown) something that I never found while watching Arang, Time between Dog and Wolf or Iljimae but I think it's because there is something similar in a way between both characters, a kind of innocence despite all the abuse.
Regarding IU, I think she's doing a good job and I say that as someone who isn't a fan and who I admit was also a bit put off at her 'scandal'. I feel that most of the criticism is actually about her image as an idol and not about her acting which is a shame. Honestly I can name (won't do it ofc because I don't want to start drama) several well loved actresses who are way worse than her. I find her natural and she has great chemistry with both LJK and KHN but also with all the other princes. It's a pity she can't be judged fairly.
Finally, I personally don't care about the ratings (the only time you shoud worry is for live filmed dramas with ratings of 3% because then they risk being cut abruptly) but since this one is preproduced, I don't see how they could end it early. Also, I have stopped trying to understand what made Koreans tick since the Heirs got high ratings while a very solid show like Healer got bad ones. I of course feel sorry for the cast because they deserve to be recognized in their country but at least they can take heart seeing the overwhelming popularity abroad.
Well sorry for the wall of text but my thoughts were going in all kinds of direction and I wanted to try and put them all here somehow.

[Drama 2016] Moon Lovers ❤ Scarlet Heart Ryeo, 달의 연인-보보경심 려 \^0^/ Soompi Kdrama 2016 Winner

Believe me the low ratings have absolutely nothing to do with a few naked shots because I can cite a few dramas that got high ratings in Korea and had similar fanservice (some as recently as this year). Also, personally I don't like this kind of fanservice either and if it was all the drama had to offer then yes I wouldn't still be watching.
However regarding LJK's scene, it was not fanservice imo as it was plot driven and the way his body was filmed was to showcase the numerous scars he had, all testimonies of a very harsh life and afterwards the whole exchange with HaeSoo, his nudity (half naked to be exact) as well as not wearing any mask were both used to show how vulnerable she caught him because not only does his face have a scar that makes him into a pariah but once again his entire body does as well, something none of his brothers have. So, personally it didn't bother me. Now if it happened every other episode, like it's the case for the evil queen, then yes, I would agree. Btw the one who is really abusing the baths is Queen Somuchhateinmybody not the princes.
Anyway, don't worry I wasn't offended per se, I just think it's a shame to bring negativity here and if we do, let it at least be some constructive criticism. Case close and I in turn hope I wasn't too harsh.
