  1. Empress Ki and her family is always remembered as traitors and evil people by Korean records and people. I'm sure she lived through very tough life after Koryo court sent her among other slaves to Mongol court to please Mongols after bloody 40 years of war. Mongol stopped invading Korea and in return Korea to remain brother nation via royal marriages between Koryo Kings and Kublai's royal princesses. 11 Mongol royalties married various Korean kings as result but all marriages ended in tragic as politics played major division. As much as 200,000 Koreans were taken to Mongolia as captives despite Koryo Dynasty remained independence but later allowed Mongol to dominate. Empress KI and her family used opportunity in Korea by seizing power & wealth, and her family became enemy of Emperor Gongmin of Koryo, Gongmin declared Koryo Dynasty as empire after Mongol rule became weaken in China and elsewhere then expelled Mongols from Korea, Empress Ki lost all of her siblings and her family in Korea after Gongmin executed her brothers and her family members, this was last Mongol domination in Korea which lasted approx 80 years. Empress Ki and son fled to Mongolian heart land, where they plotted war with various Mongol faction to grab political power. Nobody knows what hell happened to her after her son Biligtü Khan died.

This drama focus too much on Damdoek's human side and he wasn't generous king as portrayed in the drama in real historic records. In real history, he was one of the greatest militaristic ruler, under his guideline his troops grew strongest in NE Asia at the time. He almost destroyed Xianbei empire and Baekje Kingdom with only 50,000 horsemen equipped with full body steel armor, it was like today's version of Tank. Damdeok also destroyed Khitan empire and his army destroyed Gaya Kingdom which Gaya became weaker and eventually submitted to Shilla Kingdom (one of the ally to Damdeok at the time). He was cunning and well-prepared and he didn't really went to battle fields like this drama is showing, he never participated any battles himself but he was gifted militaristic leader similar to Alexander the Great. Damdoek or Koguryo's troops were able to beat so many enemies with much larger size is because not only they're well-prepared, well-trained but their weapons were far superior than any of their neighboring states at the time.

Man, those armors are so over the top. I was impressed by how historically accurate Geunchogo's armors were. Unfortunately they've gone back to the fantasy armors of Dae Jo Young.

I agreed, this drama obviously is fantasy styled.

:sweatingbullets:This drama is exciting but I wonder why the thread is so slow moving. In Singapore here, we are watching ep 15. Is it true saguek is almost hard to excit the public? I checked out with my friends, sadly none watched (not even Jumong).

I hope that there will be more viewers and comments.

I think Korean historic dramas are more popular in Middle East and Eastern Europe.
