:w00t: I really cant wait to see who is on the horse with her. Looks like it will be So.

Yes Joon gi's face is flawless. he has porcelain smooth fair scene. *swoon*

Poor lady hae, now I understand why she doesnt even attend the press con when the crown prince (who doesnt get much airtime) attended. Fair enough, she knows her love is greater than wook's and she is dying so she wants wook to marry HS. When I see the preview, I see wook griefing badly. I hope they dont dramatise too much about it, he doesnt love lady hae, and I think they are just trying to make modern viewers feel better to show that he cares.

you guys can weigh in later but I find Yeonhwa acting very good and she has good chemistry with the 4th, there is something special there. Altho she is quite a cruel person, but I find it interesting that she always seems delighted to see the 4th and talks to him nicely.

yes, really want to see more of So.:)

Wook loves Lady Hae....he's just not in love with her. You can't help but love a person especially when they are as kind as Lady Hae. Even in the first episode, we've seen that Wook constantly worries for Lady Hae. We shouldn't discredit his love and care for her.

I wished, it was already monday! The great preview and since it is the day I've got a day-off!! So three reasons to wish monday to come faster!!!

This means that Wang So is taking her away to that "cottage" as his maid because she was about become a concubine based on her dressing. Like Wang So said once, she is his person!!

This is the only time when we sincerely wish for Monday to come

Agree with you. Wang Wook is already a bit egocentric. I doubt that he noticed how much he hurt his wife when he told her that Hae Soo makes him happy. So, Madam Hae has not managed to make him happy. What about her happiness? It is very possible that his dark side will be more proeminent after the death of his wife (if that happens) and after he will find out that Hae Soo do not loves him. Of course Hae Soo already has feelings of gratitude towards him, but it's not love.

About Wang So I want to show his soft side towards Hae Soo but I wish that in his relations with the others to remain the wild wolf.

I don't think that Wang Wook was being egocentric...I think he just wasn't aware what he was really saying. After he said those things to Lady Hae...Lady Hae replied that she's thankful that he cares so much for Hae Soo, he then looked at Lady Hae with a bit of bewildered expression. I think in episode 3 he's only realizing that he's falling for Hae Soo. He didn't mean to hurt Lady Hae at all. He may not love her romantically...but it's obvious that he cares and respect her. If he did not, he could have left her already...remember, that was a legit reason then to get a concubine or dissolve the marriage.

Phew! Haven't posted in over a year on the soompi forums, but this collective and massive mental breakdown over Reply 1988 has had me in absolute stitches and I couldn't help but join in the fun.

Personal experiences aside, I'm not going to talk about what a girl would want or project my feelings onto the drama. Instead, I'm going to talk about the funny little quirks about Deoksun, and yes, this is another discussion dissecting the wonderful first China trip in episode 9.

    Episode 9

The dynamics between Taek and Deoksun change in here. That much is absolute truth. But here's the cute little dig the scriptwriter made, and honestly, it made me chuckle quite a bit afterwards when I noticed it.

The umbrella, the waiting up for Deoksun at night, all of those swoon-worthy moves Junghwan did for the girl he clearly liked, but never spoke out loud about.

I bring to you, Episode 9 Deoksun.

Episode 9 Deoksun, who was carefree, careless, a bit of a scatterbrain, obsessed with food and with the idea of traveling. Yet, the entire trip was spent taking care of Taek, looking after his needs. Her gestures towards him are cast aside, as being simple motherly but by the end of the drama, you see that they're absolutely not.

She picks out his clothes. She coordinates them. She puts thought into what he's wearing. She decides to dress him the way she also finds most appealing. She picks and chooses what she likes and packs them.

She reaches the room, and realizes that it's too cold. She has two heated blankets, but what does she do? She forgoes her own comfort and ensures that he is well rested. This may be cute, this may be motherly, but honestly? I thought it was just plain swoon-worthy.

Taek is known not to eat well before his matches, and it matches his general constitution. So she waits outside, for hours just to ensure that he has food that he can digest well enough, so that his belly is as warm as his snug bed when he decides to rest for however few hours he can.

Yes, it has been seen and cast aside as motherly, as Taek being incapable of looking after himself, as him just being his normal, idiot self and Deoksun showing her caring side.

But that little smile that Taek has, when he puts those puzzle pieces together to realize what exactly Deoksun had been doing the entire trip towards him?

Baby Taek was swooning. What a coochie pie

How could he not? Deoksun, whether she knew it or not, whether she meant it or not, had always done exactly every single trope that a person finds romantic when on the receiving end from a romantic partner, to Taek. Her actions towards him are not motherly, they are adorable, and cute and most importantly, just as heart fluttering as anything else.

Kudos to you scriptwriter. I loved the show, the bits I watched. I have to admit, I'll need to do a rewatch as the episodes were a bit long, so I would get antsy and fast forward through bits here and there.

Anyways, hello to everyone here! I really loved watching this thread unfold :) Insights are brilliant, but I've loved how peaceful it's been more than anything. It's a little slice of paradise when everyone has kind words for one another, or at least, the patience to solve differences of opinions.

    Awesome analysis :)

So in short... DEOKSUN WAS THE ONE WOOING OUR TAEKI?

LOL. Is it weird that I love that image?

  5. I ventured in the MT and some of the childish JH supporters are being so mean to our Taek. :tears:

But seriously though,  someone mentioned that the future husband was prickly so it can't be Taek, and I'm like

Still thatthat argument? Like a person's character can't grow? Also the more I watch future husband, I don't see him as prickly at all. He just has this dry humor which is so Taek.

  6. Hi guys! :)

So the last four episodes has been sooo slow on the terms of our Husband Hunt and we only have 4 episodes to go.../

SO TELL ME HONESTLY GUYS, AM I THE ONLY ONE SMELLING THE EXTENSION? I'M PREDICTING AT LEAST 2 EPISODES EXTENSION.

Reply 1988 has been consistently getting high ratings, TVN is bound to milk that right?

I'm actually hoping for at least 4 episodes extension because the love lines are a bit undeveloped IMO. Unless the last four episodes would be dedicated to the love lines their story won't feel like it matured naturally and I also I don't believe that they will abandon the family theme as that's actually the biggest pull of Reply 1988.

What do you think guys? Will we be getting an extension?

  7. When I woke up this Friday, I felt so awesome cause yay! It's Reply 1988 weekend!

Now though, I just felt kinda drained because of the husband hunt. The overall content of 1988 is wonderful. It's all well written and thoughtful and emotionally moving, BUT THE HUSBAND HUNT. It's so frustrating that they will draw this out to the end.

At least in 1997 it was obvious that Najung and Trash are the main OTP. However in 1988, the two boys are both in love with DS but in different ways so you can just root for them both and be happy no matter who ends with the girl. BUT AGAIN, DS OUR FEMALE LEAD DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE THE MOMENT OF REALIZATION YET. Najung had that moment when she realized that she was in love with Trash-oppa and from then on it was obvious he was the husband.

In comparison, our DS have not have that moment yet. In episode 12 I thought she's beginning to have that moment of realization when Taek leaned on her and her expression went vulnerable. THEN THE SCENE FADE TO BLACK. It's like the scene suddenly went irrelevant to the progress of the story as there was no mention of it anymore from DS. But still I do think that that scene have a significant effect in their relationship. I think they are closer now in a way that no misunderstanding can ruin that "something" between them.

Sorry for the long rant guys, the last two episodes were a bit frustrating since there's only 6 episodes left.

I know that it's mounted and almost errupt from TH's side he'll probably would do it on the horse.. but please please.. that bed in that tent is too small for them both... I was hoping for something grandeur that match Empress Ki's great rating. We want 10 minutes of passionate, hot red and fantastic marriage consummation aka love making of Ta Hwan and Seung Nyang.. then I can die in peace....

why does SN's gaze with our dear Paeha like that? Is she blaming her again? WHY?????Did she forget that it was HE who saved her! (They are even now) And even WY can't beat ET.
Why is she always blaming TH. Can't she see TH loves her so much?
am I getting this right or am i getting way ahead of the drama again? hehhe :D
