I think right now I’m pretty much the only one who is totally unhappy with this episode, and with the preview for 18...

    [begin venting]

Everything is a mess! I know everyone’s happy that no wedding took place; but I still think it’s sad this way. First off, look at how happy JW’s been.... and now this? He really doesn’t deserve this. EY’s making me mad because if she didn’t really love JW then she shouldn’t have said she’d marry him in the first place. Also, if she was having second thoughts, then she should have done something about that earlier (like, as soon as JS returned). Not only that, but now she’s saying to JS “I want to hear it from you”... meanwhile, just a few episodes ago when she had the chance to hear the truth from him she chose not to hear it!

The preview shows SY bawling too... which is so sad because it really doesn’t seem like there’s going to be much of a happy ending for her. If she does go off to the islands for her book, then that’s nice... but it’s not really solving anything. She’ll just be leaving on her own, which is kinda sad.

The only ones who get a "happy ending" are JS and EY... and I’m kind of mad at them right now. (lol ~ as if they’re real people I know or something hahah) They've been so up and down and can't make up their minds, etc. And because of that they've now really hurt JW and SY. Their relationship has been a mess from the start. I mean, the majority of their relationship has consisted of crying, lying, running away, avoidance, and arguing. To me, they definitely don’t have a stable relationship (and also, to me, it’s not romantic at all). [note: I said “the majority”... not “all”... there have been very sweet moments too]

    [end venting]

I’m most definitely not trying to start any kind of ship war here... I’m just stating my thoughts and frustrations with the episodes. Like I said, I think I’m the only one not really happy! lol  Oh well, whether I like it or not, that’s how it is! lol  I know the writers can't make everyone happy. And, overall, it is just a drama! (I must remind myself of that, lol) Please don’t take my rant too seriously; I’m really not trying to “attack” any of the characters (or shippers!)

I'm right there with ya! You're not alone with this.

    [rant]

I mean, that's the way this whole mess was resolved? With that teenager-y kung fu scene? I know that many of you loved EY's face, but it was truly sad for me and I didn't read it as if she was super happy about JS's behaviour. How could she? Is this how matters are resolved? After days and days of going in circles? Breaking into the wedding with a room full of people? How old is he? 12? How can they stablish a sane relationship when he's so unstable and self-centered?

I don't know, since episode 12, this drama's been a riddle for me :P Fingers crossed for a kinda sorta good ending for every single character (even JW! :sweatingbullets: ) ^^

I haven't had time to read all the comments (and certainly haven't seen the episode yet) but to put aside "shipping" I think the reason most viewers are so upset with the direction the story has been going is that the characters are not being true to themselves. I think this is what's ringing so FALSE in the way the last few episodes have been written.

Over and over and over again we've questioned and theorized and pulled our hair out over WHY JinSoo is the way he is. WHY did his relationship with his wife end up the way it did? WHY did he fall into such depression and push away ES after her death? What was the nature of their relationship from the start. And what do we get? Rather than using the last precious few episodes of the drama to build up the characters more, we have SUDDEN and ANNOYING changes in them that make NO sense based on what we've known of them for the previous 12 or so episodes.

None of them are being true to themselves. None of them are following their hearts. As some of you have already questioned: what the heck is the message this drama is trying to send out? Just keep lying and pretending to be someone you're not and it doesn't matter if you're really happy in the end???

If I could thumb you up 100 times, I'd certainly do it. What makes things worst is that we're towards the final episodes, and the story is still all entangled and moving away from all the interesting stuff it used to have. That's a total fail in my book. The realism that it could've had portrayed (EY moving on...) was stupidly spoiled by idiotic solutions (...and returning to JW).

i've been skimming the past 6 pages only because i don't want to spoil episode 15 for myself i think this drama is setting up for a JS-alone-on-his-boat now. unless the wedding doesn't happen (which DON'T TELL ME IF IT DOES OR DOESN'T! unless no wedding scene happened in ep15), it's either JS/EY or bust. i'm not being pessimistic in regards to JS/SY ship, it's just that i think it's more important for their relationship to be where JS finally respects and appreciates SY. he's never done that outwardly towards EY and hence the ten years of misunderstandings (i'm not counting the time jump because i think he finally showed his appreciation for her before the two year gap but by then it was a little too late). so JS and SY relationship is there for JS to start over and realize that when he appreciates someone, he should show it right away. it's no use holding it in. (that doesn't mean that he's going to end with SY though) SY can still be a bridge for the two, but if that won't work, i think JS will be alone... i can see an ending where he's hanging out with SY and they're working together again, but no romantic vibe whatsoever.

edit: i don't know if my comments will hold since i haven't seen episode 15, but it just feels like based on some comments, EunSoo doesn't look likely anymore.

I agree with this too. JS/JS ship FTW (??).

This is one interesting post by a (sane) baidu fan and I can't help but nod my head slightly to this:

Actually JS never once said 'I Love You' to EY. We just read these words from his eyes. So to JS, EY might be just a longtime friend. 2 years overseas he felt that no one can accommodate him and he felt it's time to start accommodating someone. He knew EY likes him so he came back. He decided to fulfil his old friend's wishes, to have a third kind of relationship afer A-B and friends. Now that EY is getting married and he discovers SY and him are alike, so...

As I was watching tonight's ep I have to admit the thought of whether does JS really love EY did run through my mind.

I totally agree with this. I'm no shipper, so I like watching this drama trying not to be swept into the madness (LOL). In this particular drama's point of view, it would make sense that JS hasn't been thinking in an epic 12 years love, he's attracted, yes, but I never felt that he was oh-so-in-love with her. He's a strange fellow, he doesn't feel in an ordinary way as EY, SY, or even JW and DW. Sometimes, I wonder if he has feelings at all (unless he's pushed to a cliff, like EY did many times in the past). His ambiguity is what drives me nuts.

All that said, I also wonder if he's a good match for any of the ladies.
