  1. Can't wait for DramaFever to complete subs...Wednesday and still not available.  Yay!  Heard the premiere hit almost 3%!  From the previews, I see a quiet but angry smoldering man in Kim Bum.  I don't think his acting is awkward.  His portrayal of his character seems measured and one who does not outwardly show his true self...someone capable of killing his adversaries.  Just my thoughts.

  2. Let me rephrase what I posted on Vixen's neat post.  I said that great actors would go through great lengths to achieve realism in their roles.  Over the years Bummie has shown such growth and can pretty much do any role.  I think it is admirable that he did not take the safe route which I am sure would have been just as successful.  This is a sign of a true thespian.  Guess losing weight comes with it but he sure is thinner!  Guess he wanted too achieve that mean lean killer machine look.

This new formatting confused me.  My apologies again, Vixen.

It is the great actors who go through great lengths like Bummie to achieve realism in portraying their roles.  Through the years, I have seen such tremendous growth in him.  He can pretty much do almost anything.  He just didn't want to take the easy road which he could have with great success.  I think this will be a compelling drama for Bummie.

Kim Bum loses 14 kg for TV action drama

Korean actor Kim Bum looks, well, different.

The star, who has been admired for his charming appearance, lost 14 kilograms and now sports a moustache.

Kim drastically lost weight for an upcoming TV action thriller series, "Hidden Identity."

"Since my character is cold-hearted, I lost 14 kilograms to match with my physical appearance," said Kim at a press conference Wednesday. "I had already put on weight, so I lost weight to appear more agile."

Kim's character, Cha Geon-woo, is traumatized by his lover's death and makes a decision to transform himself into a cold-blooded human killing machine.

"To understand my character's traumatic past, I observed animals' motions and visited zoos and animal factories," said Kim. "Cha Geon-woo‘s nickname is 'rabid dog detective' and I saw a lot of dogs and (other) animals."

TV drama "Hidden Identity" follows a top-secret, special investigation team of with five members -- including Kim and other actors Park Sung-woong, Yoon So-yi and Won-jong Lee -- launched by government police. The private agents pretend to lead normal lives while fighting crime undercover.

"Hidden Identity' will start broadcasting every Monday and Tuesday evening on MBC from June 16.

You know if you don't keep up, you come back to a book to read! For you serious analyzers, I wanted to ask you to please help me understand the lollipop painting. I love that MY used those soft colors and covered him in the emblem of sweetness and love with those heart lollipops. I also loved that altho it was Gunnie's back, his face was a profile meaning perhaps he was still looking back at her...remembering her? That there was still hope for Gunnie to return her love? I am just thinking! I love that painting! :x :-?

(The first part is a combination of Miyoung's post-it being and unwillingness to say no to her lawyer boss, and Gun's innate, big and prideful love (buying the ring)). Who knew that lollipop would become so significant and powerful? The way I interpret it, Gun uses it as his bargaining chip-- his sacrifice and wishes for Miyoung in place of him leaving her. Not only does it symbolize possession of happiness and love, it also has the power to bring Gun back to ground. EVERY time he sees it, it triggers the time he received it and the accompanying words.. it triggers Miyoung. And Miyoung is his ground. His balance, his warmth, his world. The lollipop symbolizes all of her, so when he uses it as his bargaining chip, in a way he is also giving her back to herself. This gesture.. he rather not have her suffer beside him, but to me it also meant that he saw so much more [potential] in her than she did, that he didn't want her to digress back to being a post-it girl having to be forgotten by his side once his disease kicked in in full. I believe it's the reason I broke down with ep16's ending.. how it all came together for Gun and seeing that Miyoung's love and happiness lived so trapped, yet so lively, in him. The same can also be applied to my interpretation of the lollipop symbolizing Miyoung, the painting reflective of her kept locked in him, yet the most vibrant part of his being. Hope that made some sense.
