jsama@sbs.co.kris there who can translate article above?
btw, today UTW got married, I was hoping HJM come to UTW wedding  , waiting for photos to appear.....Could it be, HJM not come / not invited?
  2. I'm glad to see that Love 911 is doing well. It's not easy to get 1,000,000+ attendees for one movie, but Hyo Joo has done it twice! I still can't wait to watch the movies. I still haven't seen any torrents for Gwanghae.

Also, thanks for all of the translations here. Has anyone translated the DongA interview? If no one has, I can translate it just to take some of the workload off of adeleyam.

  3. I think picking Ji Min to do the narration for Ending Note was a great choice. Given how committed she is to social work and charities, it makes a lot of sense to have Ji Min narrate a movie so blind people can also enjoy it.

I don't think we'll end up seeing Ji Min singing at the event unless the event was recorded and eventually ends up on DVD in Japan. There's never any fancams in Japan like there is in Korea.

  4. Eric:

    1WeuP.jpg

"Ji Min. Your hair is stuck again. You look like a little boy."
"Earlier when we couldn't completely finish Wolf, I was disappointed. After that, I hoped that I could meet Ji Min again and do another drama with her. I'm happy we're having this coincidental conversation."
"Despite this being my second project with Ji Min, it's uncomfortable. (laughter)"
"Like a cute little sister, she's adorable and what she does is adorable and pretty. Although I don't know her true personality, she seems to have a lot in common with her character. She does sudden events well (laughter) and said she also studies well. Earlier she said through her own lips that she has a brilliant mind and she doesn't think it's embarrassing talking about placing first among her whole school. She's also good at speaking shamelessly. (laughter)"
"Truthfully, I'm the kind of person who doesn't quickly get along with people. At the end of filming Invincible Parachute Agent, I got close to Han Ji Min. Han Ji Min's personality is originally bright, so I was able to get close to her."
Jung Yeob: Did Eric choose Han Ji Min as the actress he's closest with?
Han Ji Min: First, we have eaten together, though it was akward. After finishing the drama, I haven't met him outside even once. Unexpectedly, it seems that Eric has more normal friends than celebrity friends, so it seems like he especially covers up his face to actresses. Since I'm the actress he contacts, I can say this. (laughter)

  5. I have three of them done. I'm hoping to get about half of them done within the week.

    Uhm Tae Woong:

    IgtBq.jpg

"I had only seen Han Ji Min through the screen, but upon seeing her in person, she's pure and pretty."
"I feel comfortable that I filmed Resurrection with Han Ji Min, who became like a little sister to me."
"When I first saw her, it was awkward, but we saw each other every day, so we became like a family."

    Director Yoon Jong Chan:

    kiMFJ.jpg

"Among the biggest results in this project is the discovery of Han Ji Min. As Blue Swallow kept filming, Han Ji Min's acting brilliantly developed. When filming was over, I could feel the gratefulness from the woman who acted her hardest."

    Kim Jae Won:

    TpShi.jpg

"Originally I was shy so I couldn't look at an actress in the eyes. However I was comfortably able to look Han Ji Min in the eyes and could easily act."
"My friends said that the child actors really resembled Han Ji Min and I. Ji Min had a really bad attitude. Looking at her, they really resembled each other."
"I liked it that Han Ji Min didn't have a princess complex. In the drama, we were really in tune with one another."
"It's hard to find someone who can lead the atmosphere on set to be lively as much as Han Ji Min could."
"At the set of Great Inheritance in a kindergarten at Songdo, Incheon, students would say "I'm happy that the pretty teacher came" while mistaking her for a real teacher. The students would hold Han Ji Min's hand and go to the bathroom together and they really liked her."
"Han Ji Min is a lot more comfortable than the ordinary actors I've seen before. Her reactions are also good. While doing projects until now, I've become closer with the staff that has suffered a lot moreso than with the actors. Normal actresses have a hard time getting along with the male staff. However Han Ji Min spent time with everyone and made people more comfortable because she cared more about staff's reflecting plates and the camera angles. Since those are important points to an actor, I think that makes Han Ji Min a good actress.
"Jimin is totally a man...a man. While we were filming, what she talked about most was actresses. Therefore we were able to communicate well."

  6. Haha, how did Tae Hee come in second for the teaching English poll over native English speakers? I mean, yeah, she's super hot and super smart, but it'd be better to learn from a native speaker lol.

I'm glad the rumors are finally settled and that Tae Hee will finally be in a drama again. It's nice that she has a crapload of CFs between her projects, but I prefer to see in in a drama/movie than a billion CFs.

  7. I was asked to translate an interview, so here it is.

Forever 'Soganji' So Ji Sub "I want to get married now"

    kNw5l.jpg

Top Star So Ji Sub (35) is showing off his masculine beauty through his heated action acting. The movie 'The Company Man' opens on the 11th, and it's So Ji Sub's masterpiece action project that shines bright. His role is Ji Hyung Do, section chief of the second division of the murder contracting company. He commutes to work like an ordinary business man, kills people in a professional manner, and falls into danger after revealing his intent to resign. He shows off an ordinary appearance of a salaryman through his neat hairstyle and tidy suit and shows off his charms of reversing into quick action acting. We met So Ji Sub in Haeundae at the Busan International Film Festival where the movie played.

    - The action acting looked extraordinarily difficult compared to what existed before.

"It's a martial art the Russian Special Forces use. Whenever the martial arts team did their work, it was surprising. I thought to myself 'How do they move so quickly to the point you can't see their hands?'. My body wasn't accustomed to that, so I couldn't follow along, so during the two months of practice, I just kept practicing."

    - The action seems similar to the 'Taken' series and 'The Man From Nowhere'.

"I felt a bit worried since Taken 2 and other action movies have come out. Thankfully the action in our movie is different. Comparing to 'The Man From Nowhere', after seeing 'The Company Man', people will think they're different. They're definitely different movies."

    - This is the second time you were in tune with Gwak Do Won after 'Ghost'.

"The filming for 'The Company Man' came before 'Ghost'. I was also shocked after finding out Do Won sunbae was cast in 'Ghost'. Being together with a person whose energy naturally overflows and is a generous person, it seemed like the 'happy virus' would spread."

    - Gwak Do Won said 'I learned a lot from So Ji Sub'.

"Usually I think giving tips about acting is a bad idea, but I gave him some on the set of 'Ghost' as we adapted to each other. It was the first time Do Won sunbae had to do all-night filming, so he was in a state where his body wasn't used to it. After the first all-night filming session, he couldn't remember what we shot that day. (Laughs)"

    - 'The Company Man' is being released the same day Jang Dong Gun's 'Dangerous Liasons'.

"There's no burden. Dong Gun hyung was the protagonist in my debut project, 'Model'. Since he's been a top star since then, there's no comparison."

    - Your opinion on acting with Lee Miyeon.

"She's a person whose voice tone overflows with charisma. While she's inwardly careful, I'm glad she treated me comfortably."

    - Have you ever thought of quitting work like you do in the movie?

"I've had that thought many times. I'm introverted and it's not good to be introverted while promoting in the entertainment industry. I'm comfortable acting in front of the camera, but when it comes to outside work, it's hard to adjust. As time goes by, the things an actor wants and the things restricted increase. In order to act, I have to gain various kinds of experience, but it's not easy being natural with my actions. I've been active for about 17 years, it seems like I just endured well. (Laughs)"

    - Sounds like the humble words of a top star.

"When I ended up receiving a lot of love from the public, it had been about nine years since I had debuted. Before that, I didn't have much popularity and my income wasn't sufficient. From people around me, I heard 'It's impossible for you' many times. Since I've had those kinds of experience, it's that much more comfortable to be able to talk about it."

    - You appeared in 'The Company Man' and 'Ghost' wearing neat suits.

"The necktie was suffocating me. I always showed myself dropping comfortably to the ground and seeing as I was wearing a suit, my actions became unnatural. I had a dream when I was a high schooler about being a salaryman wearing a necktie and going to work, but it seemed like a verry immature thought."

    - Do you have no interest in the fields of investing, production and direction?

"I have no interest in directing or screen writing. Just acting is more than enough for me. On the other hand, if I was on the management level in a company, I'd try my hand in investing or production."

    - What are you doing now with your music career?

"After promotions for my movie end, I'm thinking about creating a song. I do music because it's interesting. I want my fans to sing my songs in a space where we meet. I like hiphop so I rap. Singing isn't speaking accurately, so I can't sing."

    - You're a man of few words and spend a lot of time alone, but lately you seem to be brightening up.

"I'm putting in some effort. If a star doesn't say anything and is quiet on set, it makes the staff uncomfortable. I can't let the atmosphere drop because of me. I joke around and enjoy myself, and the place is more interesting. It seems like it's on ongoing process to change a little bit."

    LXli4.jpg

    - Don't you wanna date?

"I want to marry. I'm getting up there in age and now I want to meet the marriage partner who will be at my side for the rest of my life. However, I don't go out much, I don't enjoy drinking parties, so the opportunity to meet someone doesn't come up often. People who can set me up on good blind dates aren't around. It's burdensome."

    - How did you feel when the dating rumors of you and Han Ji Min came out?

"I remember there were rumors of having a press conference related to my wedding coming out. In the confusion of the moment, I almost got married. So when filming 'Ghost', Lee Yeon Hee and I didn't exchange each other's contact information. (Laughs)"

  8. jerebtang said: Love her elegance look in this drama for Korean Drama Festival 2012. Even she tumbled down, she kept her smile and facing in front of the media reporters and other people. Hope she was alright.

Anyway, love her role in Rooftop Prince. It can be considered as her drama signature for her entertainment career. Hope she can win more awards for her role in Rooftop Prince.

  9. Hey guys, I translated an interview posted a few pages back. It's on tumblr here and posted below.

Han Hyo Joo "In Normal Life, I'm Not Serious; I'm a Perfectionist While Working"

    zjHIp.jpg

I'm curious as to why kind of person Han Hyo Joo is. She has shown a bright and confident image as an actress, and I want to know what image she's hiding underneath. However, we only see Han Hyo Joo's smile, as she doesn't reveal herself. Instead, she only talks about her thoughts on movies and acting in detail. Instead of saying she hides herself, she's a pro dedicated to the job of an actress. However I think her inner self is really strong.

The first time I met Han Hyo Joo through the screen was in 2008 at the Jeonju International Film Festival in the movie 'Ride Away'. Ride Away depicted a love story that was like an unripe apple. After that movie, I quickly found discovered her in the drama 'Brilliant Legacy' where she had the bright Candy image. From the director of Lee Yoon Gi's 'Ad-Lib Night', Han Hyo Joo's delicate and sensitive acting absolutely caught the eyes of viewers. Since then, Han Hyo Joo has been devoted to acting rather than the fame of a star. Han Hyo Joo didn't just unexpectedly find stardom through the dramas 'Brillian Legacy' and 'Dong Yi'.

    ou2wS.jpg

"As an actress, your mindset about immersing yourself into acting hasn't changed much since your debut." The surrounding environment around herself has changed from the past of appearing in low-budget movies and the now of holding the title of leading lady in commercial films after gaining popularity through dramas, but her thoughts about acting have remained the same. If there's a difference, it's that her facial expressions have improved. "In the past, when I tried to do facial expression A, facial expression B came out strangely many times. What I thought and what my face expressed didn't match. I was frustrated and annoyed, so I fell into a sense of distance. However now, if I attempt to do facial expression A, it comes out similar now. Now it seems like I accurately do facial expression."

My confidence in acting has increased after Dong Yi and while striving to be in movies. A year earlier around this time, Han Hyo Joo had her first commercial leading role in the movie 'Only You' with So Ji Sub. On the 13th, 'Gwanghae premiered', she finished filming for 'Love 911', and in October, she has filming for 'Surveillance'. She doesn't have much 'gravity' (aka screen time) in 'Gwanghae' playing the queen, presenting a surprise to the audience. However, to Han Hyo Joo, having an role with a lot of screen time isn't what is important, it's about the interest in acting and the completeness of the film.

More than anything, it was a good opportunity where we could see Han Hyo Joo keep her composure in 'Gwanghae'. If 'Only You', where Han Hyo Joo played the lead role, was "the feelings of hastily running" in order to have a lot of scenes, then 'Gwanghae' was a "Look beside and behind while slowly walking" project. The Queen who consistently didn't show her emotions and hid her smile and the meeting with Han Hyo Joo was new. "It was a good experiece. Up until now in the 'location' I came from, I've fallen far from that one footprint. I don't know how to get back there, and that was the situation I was able to look at."

After showing her composure in 'Gwanghae', in her next project, 'Love 911', she's continuing with her new acting. Although the movie hasn't been revealed to the public, the anticipation for Han Hyo Joo is high. "You said you're curious about what kind of person I am, right? If you see 'Love 911', you'll be even more curious. You'll say 'What is she?" and a brain fart could come. (Laughter)"

In 'Love 911', Han Hyo Joo is playing a selfish character, a character she has never acted before. Without any reserve, she calls starving children "dirty" and say that refugees "smell". She curses without hesitation but doesn't come off as looking hateful. It's a hard character to immerse into. "Always being nice isn't fun. This is a society where you get trampled on if you're always nice. To some extent I like frankness. A character that doesn't harm others, but is good hearted and can express their opinions is more charming."

    ZLzOi.jpg

Han Hyo Joo, who acted in 'Ad-Lib Night' and 'Ride Away' with an "oncoming feeling that you don't know, but work hard as if you'll die" and has finished 'Gwanghae' and 'Love 911', has become an actress who has learned to enjoy the pleasure of receiving the 'ok' sign. The atmosphere on set where the director and actors freely talk to each other and where the job can be impromptu has helped a lot. More than anything, for 'Love 911', "Through a friendship like feeling, it's a pleasantly approaching" expectation that has caused expectations for the movie to increase. "Up until now, there have been a lot of movies with tough and heavy atmospheres. This time, I can approach pleasantly."

She can approach the masses in a friendly manner. That's Han Hyo Joo's aim as an actress. "I don't want to become a difficult actress to the masses. I don't want that image either. Since an actor has the job of taking on a person's life and expressing, I want to become an actor that can communicate easily with the masses." After 'Dong Yi', Han Hyo Joo has been striving to be in movies, and she said "I definitely want to appear in a drama next year," expressing her desire to meet with the masses in a friendly manner.

As a star receives more love from the people, the danger into falling into narcissism increases. If you compare now and when she debuted, Han Hyo Joo enjoys first-rate popularity and receives love, I wondered if Han Hyo Joo had that kind of anxiety. However, she humbly said "As I fall into narcissism, I become very strict towards myself." In her everyday life, she has the tendency not to be serious, and though it's small, only when she's acting, she's really close to being a perfectionist. Because of that, she doesn't praise herself when others praise her. Her pride in acting is strong. "While I have many other hobbies, none of them are like acting where I can be absorbed for a long time." In those words, we can discover her determined appearance in the past projects where we were able to meet her.

    OdLTi.jpg

During her middle school days, Han Hyo Joo watched 'Pay It Forward', starring Kevin Spacey and Haley Joel Osment, and gained hope for a moment. After seeing the movie where one person's small help towards a kid spread out, she dreamed of changing the world. Now that's she became an actress that receives everyone's love, she doesn't have the grandiose ideas to change the world anymore. Instead, her acting her brought upon a small change to the world already.

"I've done a drama that has received a lot of love. Then I felt 'This is receiving love. Through acting alone, I can give people strength.' Though I act to fullfil my greed, I can impact people through acting, and that's acting biggest worth and charm."
