Currently scripts for Episode 1~4 are out.

They're in the final stage of putting the production crew together and shooting will begin shortly after long holiday (Korean Thanksgiving Sept 30th-Oct 9th). Considering various factors, Nov. 8th premier is practically impossible. They're aiming at premiering on mid-late Nov.

(Just FYI, SBS announced that they would put another legal drama after <While you were sleeping> , not <Return> starring Goh Hyung-Jung.)

That's a really tight schedule and on top of that they'll be going up against SBS huge dramas like WYWS and the legal one....I hope this is a good drama and does well, at least for YSH/CSB sake (I came to really like her after Rebel, it's MBC's best weekday drama in 2017 imo).

Finally we got some casting news and I'm happy CSB has confirmed ( although I haven't seen her in a drama, but as long as I'm not put off by her acting I'm willing to take a liking into her). This cast makes me excited  ! I loved Uhm Ki Joon in the defendant and in Ghost/ Phantom . He's terrific as a villain and I got goosebumps when I watched him in both dramas. *bows down* He left a great impression on me .  @ferily[....]

The fact the actress is younger ( but not too young)  than YSH makes me smile. Can I then be allowed to wish for some steamy kisses  and a sizzling chemistry between YSH and CSB?  I want kisses  !  YSH, I count on you !  btw, did you guys know CSB and YSH have met before in 2015 ? They were both ambassadors of DMZ festival. YSH hits again here with his connections, first with Jung Dae Yoon PD and then with Chae Soo Bin.

@Berou - trust me, CSB is very capable of delivering good kissing scenes even though she never had a kiss scene until Rebel, even in Strongest Deliveryman the kisses between her and Go Kyung Pyo are great. If the kissing isn't what we want in this drama, it's not going to be the fault of either of the actors, for sure.

If you need proof, try looking for a cut of her kiss scene with Yoon Kyun Sang in Rebel episode 16, I nearly fell off my chair seeing such passionate kissing in a sageuk. Especially with the girl kissing back!

Is the actress any good? I've only seen her in Moonlight Drawn By Clouds as the second lead girl. I am still hung up on YSH and KSH from Ruler, but I am willing to give CSB a chance.

I saw her in Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People and Strongest Deliveryman, she's a talented actress even though she's so new (debuted in 2014). It's just that she's not that famous because until this year she was only a rookie who did second lead roles.

Oh and she also has good chemistry with her male costars and does kiss scenes well so I look forward to her+YSH now :D The only thing I feel worried about in this drama is the writer, even a great cast can get wasted by a bad script.

Agree with you chingu.....and just WOW! so that is how knetz comment huh???? Goodness gracious! There is like no filter and no courtesy, no consideration either. I have never actually read individual bad comments of knetz before......never bothered......only when there are good comments I read some that are posted in Soompi. I am actually awestruck.....I guess only coming to soompi and its great atmosphere makes me unaware of how people actually diss a drama. Last time I was in a drama discussion in soompi that was really going downhill, even there, all the commentators took a lot of effort to be civil and disagree with the drama. These comments would be hilarious really if they werent hurting the actor's effort so much.

It's all right, we can still love the drama for ourselves anyway even if it doesn't get huge ratings. Also it's not fair to generalise knets from those comments that came from Nate, since Nate is a site well known for hating. More general knetz opinion is from Naver (more upvotes), which is much more positive and had a lot of praise for Jun Ki and Haneul - I know that because I translated some of those comments. Don't be fooled by one blog purposely choosing a hate article from a site known for posting hate comments.

It's very sad that the bad starting episode led to such low ratings now because I really feel the show is getting better and better. Obviously we can see that easily because we're ifans and we can watch all the shows online at our own pace but for Korean viewers who generate ratings to turn on the tv at a certain time, they need to choose between dramas. But it's still doing very well on Youku, you can see how many views it got here: http://www.youku.com/show_page/id_z67d68692e98711e5b522.html

I'm completely obsessed with this drama, and I've been watching the teasers non-stop.... lol here are some of my rambles:

      Reveal hidden contents

I feel as though Soo asking "What if I can change his life?" is the catalyst to starting everything - her wanting him to not just play a supporting role in the palace, but gain confidence etc. I think this will allow him to become more ambitious for power, and her removing the mask (and covering his scars) allows him to do so...

I'm craving more interaction between Ji Mong and Soo though... Maybe he will drop some hints and she might use these hints to do something????

I wonder if they are going to air the birthday scene? Because it's basically just everyone treating her nicely, with WS and YH observing from afar... NO! lol. I hate all interaction between WS and TH T_T

The "crossed love" part which refers to WS and HS.... Why............ I just want a happy ending for our couple T_T and no wedding between YH and WS.....

Ugh I'm so torn right now, because I definitely support the main couple (So x Soo), but knowing that he's going to marry Yeon Hwa is SO AWFUL and it really goes against everything that I love about his character!!!! His saying "Do you want to run away? We can if you want to" is representative of EVERYTHING that I adore about him!!!! i.e. his disregard for the rules and his willingness to place Soo over everything else (which is what I find a bit lacking in Wook).

lol every time I settle on shipping So x Soo, the close ups on KHN completely ruin everything lol!

I would genuinely just be happy if the drama COMPLETELY tossed out any fight regarding the throne, and just let HS and WS live a simple life next to the beach in a cottage.... That seems so romantic and something that our two heroes deserve...

I'm assuming that WS is challenging WY for the throne (as according to history), but... sigh. At 4.48 Ji Mong seems to be walking in front of WS... showing that JM is showing his support for him since he knows history? But what does this mean for our romance? :<

The blood spurting from WS's mouth scares me... but... I know that he survives to become king... right??? lol

In the 6 minute trailer, at 5.51 Wook looks so dark and brooding, and I fear that his image is going to completely change.... Arghhhhhhhhhh why can't our two boys just be happy T_T

I think WY must kill the first Crown Prince to become king. Then maybe his rule of tyranny causes for WS and some other princes to rebel against him? But maybe to challenge and consolidate his power and rulership, WS marries YH so that people will not challenge his power.... Which we obviously see Wook doing.

"I can change it. I'm not going to cast a blind eye. I'm not going to let anyone become unfortunate" = Signs that HS knows what is to happen? Or maybe she uses her influence over some of the princes to cause a chain reaction???

"Fate? I don't believe in such petty things as fate" = I think WS says this?? T_T

"Leave me alone" = HS rejecting WS when she realises that he's going to marry YH and is willing to do a lot in order to become the king???

WW's yelling "Soo-ah" = I can't decide whether this is earlier on in the drama or not? And I have no idea what symbolic meaning breaking the bracelet has???

"How wonderful it would have been if we met in a different world, different period" = forewarning of incoming angst :(

Summary: I'M CRAZY ABOUT THIS DRAMA!!!! This is seriously the very first kdrama that I've streamed, analysed like a crazy person the trailers and every scene, and watched like ALL the promotional material/interviews, and first historical korean drama that I've watched. I think the drama is so pretty, and the characters are getting fleshed out which makes this so interesting.

I keep trying to avoid the negative reviews, but it makes me so sad to read criticism over IU and the entire drama. I think after editing the soundtrack, it's a LOT better, and I genuinely can't imagine any other actress other than IU to play Hae Soo. I'm not actually a big kdrama watcher, but I've seen some kdramas in which the actors/actresses are praised, and they have made me cringe and feel as though I can't watch on beyond more than 30 seconds!!!! Whereas even though LJK and KHN clearly have the best acting in the drama, I am yet to feel uncomfortable and disgusted by someone's acting - and this happens to me a LOT during kdramas due to the common cliche moments.

I'm sorry for the long post, and the rant T_T Would be interesting if anyone had anything to say in response to what I have said :)

Don't feel bad about it, dear! As long as we like the drama that should be enough. It's also doing great on youku (623,771,396 views as of right now).

The real problem is that episode 1 had weird editing and directing issues and horrible soundtrack, it put a lot of Korean viewers off. That's not the fault of the cast at all. If you look at opinions on 'neutral' ifan sites like dramabeans where they just care about the drama and less about the actors, they recognise that there were issues but still like the show and opinions about IU's acting are positive.

Thoughts after spending time watching bts, interview, cover shooting and etcs:

If there's a report that IU breaking up with her boo and start going out with Kang Ha Neul I won't be surprised. That guy is clearly fall for her. No wonder he was able to deliver the role beautifully. His eyes in real life is no different from Wang Wook in drama whenever he saw her haha. Beside KHN is a sweet heart, his real personality is different from Wook.

Please pray that such a report never happens, the poor girl gets enough hate already for absolutely trivial reasons, imagine how much she'll get if netizens think she broke up with her boyfriend of almost 3 years for him..... I don't want her to get any more hate. If they date, let it be only if she breaks up with her bf (I don't wish for such a thing, her happiness comes first) and only a long time after that. And preferably with privacy so that they can date in peace and not get all kinds of comments.

but really, Kang Ha Neul's gaze when he looks at IU or poses with her is really just amazing. I saw his past dramas and he gives those melting looks to all his female costars in the dramas (Ha Yeon Soo in Monstar, Im Joo Eun and Kim Ji Won in Heirs, Nam Ji Hyun in Angel Eyes), but this time it really feels like he himself fell for IU a little bit and used that feeling to add to his performance as Wook.

My mind can barely grasp these numbers. Pretty amazing to me....

yep. and as we have discussed earlier, the ratings are based on a very small percentage of the population that have ratings boxes installed in their homes. I think I read it was less than 5% of the population.

It is really an antiquated system, that needs to be revamped.

And that is another reason why I request that folks respond to DramaFever articles with comments, or at least "Awesome" click, as well as the polls. DramaFever putting out these articles to gauge how much interest and support there is for the drama from international fans.

And that is also another good reason to watch the trailers or BTS, or what have you, on Naver. Naver counts the number of views, and it goes towards CPI ratings.   When we watch on YT, we like it, but it does not do anything for the drama, in terms of supporting it. Only when we show interest on Korean media it goes towards CPI ratings.

Youku view count is now 576,079,560 and this is only one day after ep 5.

(keep in mind that right after ep 4 @LyraYoo posted that the youku view count was 400 million...this is 176 million views in just 2 days!)

I wish the tv ratings were higher so the cast and especially Jun Ki oppa don't feel bad about it. But it's definitely doing well in China.

merely speculating here about YH--- YH said to her mother that she couldnt forget the grudge against queen Yu when they had met before the 'evil banishing ceremony' at the palace. So I think that some bad event had taken place in the past where YH may have been involved (inadvertently maybe) and Queen Yu had taken advantage of the situation to mediate the banishing of the second queen's family from Songhak. Later as Wook married Lady Hae, they were able to come back again.

This may be why YH is mercenary about being in power, either herself or through her brother remarrying. She seems like she would sorely like to enter the palace and take Queen Yu out of the palace/songhak. In this ambition it is puzzling why she would aim for WS instead of Wang Yo.....cant figure that out. Maybe WS had helped her before in something important.

What is true for YH as of now is that she is vengeful.....be it servants or equals. YH also has a cruel streak in her or it may be alternatively called as extreme princess syndrome induced arrogance, brattiness, feelings of entitlement. She may be running her brother's household because his wife is sick.....but that just rubs me the wrong way how she goes about it.

As much as I dont like YH's character, I think it is being portrayed well.....I just dont know how making her so mean serves the story?

About why YH wants to aim for WS instead of Wang Yo, that's because WY is already married (WW said so when YH was pushing him to divorce his wife and remarry, that he would never marry just for political reasons like their brother #3).

Could you please share the link, I wanna check about others dramas.

Yes, your totally right we will forever support the drama.

Same here, I'm sad that Korean ratings are so low :dissapointed_relieved: but it's ok, I will keep watching and support the drama because it hooked my heart. I feel a little angry at the director and editors for making such a mess with the OSTs and weird closeups and background music, this has a good story but you leave all that stuff in, obviously it spoils the viewing experience a little.

Someone on db compared it to making a good cake but then covering it with icing made of ashes....this is a good drama but that minor stuff really turned a lot of people off :(
