  1. I 'discovered' Sohyun from watching one of her first dramas when she was 14? I think it was a special one-off drama called Ma Boy. I knew right away she'd grow up to be an amazing actress. But Page Turner was really what turned me into a fan. I'm still sad that Cha-sik and Yoo-seul never had their final recital together. That's another actor who I'd love to see her reunite on a project. Ji-soo ah~ Him and Yeo Jin-goo. She had great chemistry with most of her opposite leads. ^_^

Have you guys noticed how many scenes have LJS just walking his badass walk?  I remember his knife walk in IHYV and I found that like really something.  And that other walk he did when he was taking off his tie after getting really cheesed off with the Lawyer Cha.

But in this drama, they are loving him move.  So many shots of him just moving…

I wonder if he realizes his modeling days are becoming really useful to him though he did not like the catwalk much.

But now we have him catwalk in this drama quite a bit.

And all those fantastic coats he wears.  They look so good on him.

Except the leather one he wore in recent episode…It had a really complicated design and very bulky.  But I love the long black and while knit he had underneath.  So cool.

I am sure he has sponsors sending him many coats to wear…Who wouldn’t?  He is a great model for them.

  3. Really interesting how they're going to tell the rest of the story. I originally thought they were going down this path, but I wasn't sure. Since they're going to...

...pit Dal Po and In Ha against each other, I didn't see how they were going to make it work considering how in love they were and how In Ha agrees that her mom is pretty much a horrible person. Now that IH has to prove her mom's innocence against her own will, it'll be very interesting. In Ha might be able to force to discover that her mom had reasons to do what she did. That perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Maybe she'll realize her mom was just trying to make a living by exploiting half-hearted truths in her news items. Even though I really don't want to spare one once of sympathy on her, I'm kind of afraid that IH might start feeling that way, which is going to cause a bigger emotional divide between DP and IH. Ugh, future angst.

The truth of the matter remains, that IH's mom is still very prideful and conceited in her wrong ways. I don't see this lady changing at all, even if DP exposed all of her wrong-doings, she's still going to think she wasn't wrong. So ultimately, her life would be hellish, but it's still going to be pointless if she still doesn't acknowledge that she's at fault. The revenge is about making her apologize sincerely, after all. Rather than DP succeeding, I think it will be In Ha who could be the only person on earth that could convince her mother of her wrongdoings. This would also put her relationship with DP back in order by appeasing hyung's request.

  4. OK, I just realized that this is a 20 episode series, silly me, I thought it's 16 episodes... I'm thinking the big reveal will happen in episode 12, soooo what the heck are they going to do with the rest of the 8 episodes? Ideally, I think they could probably dissolve the DP and IH dilemma in just 2 episodes of freaking out, then serious talk and hopeful understanding, getting the OK from the family, etc. Then maybe 1-2 episode for IH's mom to repent/ask for forgiveness/reconciliation, and logistic of how GM will end up in jail. I hate the thought that they might drag out the break up for 4 episodes or more for the sake of keeping our main characters in emotional turmoil. I really hope my speculation is wrong.
Dear drama, please do us a solid and keep going with this calibre of storytelling.

  5. Omg, omg, omg... this is possibly THE BEST Kdrama of this year. I don't say this lightly as I tend to pretty much analyze and critique on many dramas that fall short of expectation. The plot, the romance, the comedy, everything just fell into place. The way they handled Gi Myeong was ridiculously good and unexpected. Just when you think he's gotten to the point of no return, he remains true to his character and does the right thing, and in fact, has been by Dal Po's side all along. I thought this is such a clever twist, it's not cliche or done for the sake of having a shock factor. It just FITS into the entirety of the narrative from beginning to the end.
The ONLY thing I could pick on is the lack of character development/importance of the second-male lead. Which is totally fine with me because it's the main story - DP's story - that is driving this plot and what I'm most curious about. I mean, even Yoo-rae -while kind of bossy and nosy- was more integrated into the plot than he is. Her nosiness lead to DP realizing that he can't really hide the truth, and also spurred on his resolve to reveal hyung's crime. Beom jo had a sweet one-sided love/guardian angel story going, but he doesn't really hold any weight next to what has already transpired between DP and IH. Since he's a character that's left in the dark apart from the main story, I found that he's not really necessary as a character, but I think of him as a cute little bonus. This is the only, tiiiiiny little detail that I can easily overlook because EVERYTHING in this drama is SO right.
LJS's acting is off. the. chart. And PSH too, both of their emotional scenes were so charismatic and deep. I can literally see and feel every little tremor and shudder they had trying to hold back their sadness and pain. The way those close-up scenes were shot with the lighting were beautiful too. It's overwhelming, realistic, but beautiful in revealing each character's unraveling. I could go on and on. But hands down, one of THE BEST drama of 2014.

Then there's HM's older brother and how he's going to factor into the story. He's in the same boat that HM is in, but he currently doesn't really account for much. Maybe it'll get interesting if he turns into a criminal mastermind in order to avenge his mom and HM whom he thought is dead. That's just a crazy thought of mine. ;)
Anyway, Wednesday cannot come soon enough. These screen cap previews are killing me!  :x

  7. I like the pace of this already. In Ha realizing her feelings even after their big fight. This is great, but now it's going to be super awkward back at the apartment. I echo the same thought about grandpa not going to last to the end and his potential death may lead to a broken household for DP and IH. IH's dad is just stubborn. He can see how DP cares for IH, so do we really have to go through the your-social-status-is-not-good-enough troupe again?
About the debate, I can tell DP already regretted taking his frustration out on her. BUT what he said was more logical than In Ha's point that everyone has a right to voice their thoughts. That may be true for regular folk, but for a reporter, they're relaying information to the masses and therefore is held up with more responsible to convey the information correctly. I can't blame her since she doesn't know about DP's past and how her own mother had a big helping hand in driving his mother towards suicide. I usually try to see the other side of the story, but I'm just having a hard time not blaming her for what she did. She's one of those tunnel-vison people who truly believes in the power of making sensational news by all means. I just can't find a way to justify that, AND her cold-heartedness towards In Ha.
Oh well. Think toast-kissy thoughts. ;)

  8. Dalpo... why so heartbroken and cute? Jong Seok is the master of playing such characters, and I'm a complete sucker for his roles as the underdog.
I ended up re-watching episodes 2, and while I fell in love with the otp already, I'm curious to see how Dalpo will find out the truth. I honestly thought they were going to let the viewers wonder if the dad is indeed dead or if he ran away. It seems like that uncertainty will be enough to keep the suspense on the hook. But it looks like the skull and uniform implied that the corpse is indeed Hae Myung's dad, so they're laying all their cards in front of us already.
I am also pretty critical about the logic in dramas, especially when it comes to suspense. So I question why the case was solved based on one eye-witness with very little evidence to prove that the person he saw that day was HM's dad and not just someone wearing his coat. After all, it was for a split second, on a bus through a window about 100 yards away, and raining no less. I have a hard time believing that's sufficient evidence to assume a missing person has ran away because he's guilty. Even if the witness can't lie, it's still based on their perspective which can be just as unreliable as a false witness. Secondly, the police did such a crappy job scouting around the area for the body which didn't even look like it flew that far away from the building. They would've deployed search parties with K-9s to find the body within the next day. I hope there're more twists and hidden plot than what we see so far in addition to the romance aspect.
Then there's HM's older brother and how he's going to factor into the story. He's in the same boat that HM is in, but he currently doesn't really account for much. Maybe it'll get interesting if he turns into a criminal mastermind in order to avenge his mom and HM whom he thought is dead. That's just a crazy thought of mine. ;)

  9. I was hooked from episode one. The game pieces and ending are set, it's just a matter of how we're going to get there now. Love both lead actors, and the way the love line got started was also very sweet. Maybe with her Pinnocchio syndrome causing her to be so blunt all the time, we'll finally get a female lead who won't pitter patter around her feelings.

  10. fiovial said: Have to agree with @stuartjmz‌ . This drama IS fun to watch but in all honesty the storyline is meh. The writing is good but the actual story isn't much. There's nothing new or groundbreaking. But that doesn't make it a bad drama at all. It is a well written, well acted and well made drama. And sometimes we don't want complicated storyline. There are times when we just want to FEEL and be immersed in a drama. This drama is that drama. What FTLY lacks in storyline it more than made up in HEART. For me personally FTLY is special because I ended up caring about Geon and Mi Young almost on a personal level. The 2 characters are fleshed out so well that I feel like they are real people that I know. And lest I forget.....the Jjangs' chemistry is simply out of this world...totally EPIC chemistry. Of the many many many kdramas I've seen they have the best chemistry among the leads...just ridiculous.

  11. Haha, and now a rewatch party, that's awesome! So happy to see the FTLY spirit here alive and well. Hope you guys do a live running commentary too. :) I wouldn't mind it~
On that note, Geon is my favorite male lead this year as well... actually I don't remember my last most memorable Kdrama. Everything recent has been kind of mediocre until now so I've been watching old dramas. It helped that I watched SSBG before jumping into FTLY to get into the mood. :)) Like we've all been saying, JH needs to take home some awards this year, it's not as dramatic as Joseon Gunman, but there are very few people who could've pulled this character off without looking like a complete azz. Skills.

Bless Zoi. <3 I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive! ^^ Someone-- actually, many people expressed their dislike for Gunnie's long, wavy hair in the first half of the show. I loved it from the get-go from when the stills came out! Having already been excited for the remake, my first thought was: His change is going to be daeeeebak! Unlike his TW counterpart, Gunnie has a loud personality, super flamboyant. The perfect wavy hair and beautiful colorful 3-pieces gave this away and he wore them like pride and confidence was his name. His short hairstyle gave him a clean look, as if a clean slate to start off again (his suits, uptight and toned down in color). Yet he couldn't use it to mask or hide, much like his true feelings for Miyoung. Then of course, his hair let loose naturally when he finally reconciled with his snail princess. The styling is so well thought out because it reflected their transformation and their state of mind very purposely. But Gun's character is so well-written and thoroughly explored that his large personality would be recognized more than his image. P.S. Don't force your withdrawals to go away. Just bask in it for now. ^^

Oh, I definitely defaulted to drama logic regarding Ji-Yeon's apt. You know, how dirt poor people in drama still wear designer brand clothes and have a nicely furnished apartment. Isn't that the norm? Ha. ;) Same with Yong's mom expectation. It was within her character to expect him to marry rich, she wanted him to take over the company afterall. This lady is foolishly ambitious. Drama in-laws almost always fight over money, usually they expect the opposite side to be very well-off. But good observation point about Ji-Yeon starting to introduce her family before she got cut off. I dunno, it felt like it wasn't planned and was only thought of halfway through when Yong and her loveline became clear. I suppose it didn't bothered me that much because a. it worked out and I like this couple, b. there's really no repercussion to the rest of the story because it's the ending!
About HD, yes, Geon himself has come to terms with it through his father in 19, and I agree with his conclusion of letting go his worries of what may be, and living by the moment. But ultimately, I was hoping they would straight-forwardly address it in a way that was clear so it wouldn't affect his children. I just don't see him consciously making the decision to have kids knowing that there's a 50% chance that he could pass the same suffering onto his kids. I mean, grandma made the decision for them, really, but I think MY and Geon should've realistically thought about it together because that's almost always in the forefront in the minds of those who are affected by HD. The writing just kind of made the assumption that it's a happy ending for all now that Geon has come to terms to living with HD without really addressing the latter aspect of it.
Forgot to mention, thanks for clearing that part up about Sect. Tak! It definitely wasn't clear in the Viki translation, and I was actually really confused about that part. :)

  14. I finally get to watch it today, and it ended wonderfully! I went in expecting things to wrap up, but they did even more than that. So glad that MY's omma came around and even got her own sweet love line with Doc Oct. I didn't see that coming, but that scene alone pretty much made the ending for me. Yong's love line was a bit convenient because I have a hard time believe that Ji-yeon was a chaebol all along. But I can let that slide because they couldn't have wrapped it up as neatly without completely changing the nature of Yong's mom. But it was extra sweet with G-ma finally accepted them into the family. It was almost like a Shakespearean ending to a rom-com with all the knots tied and ridiculous comedic parents to boot.
Other little things I noticed but was thinking about you guys when I saw them:
Secretary Tak not hooking up with MY's older sis? What the--I thought it was going so well.
Agent Tak and Yong meta moment, them actually saying the "Snail Couple."
I know people wanted the Daniel and Sera storyline wrapped up earlier, but I did liked the way it was paced overall. They actually dispelled the typical long lost sibling reunion trope; for example, immediately started crying and hugging each other. Sera's reaction was actually realistic as it took her about a month to be able to face and accept Daniel. I actually cried when they have their real reunion conversation on the steps, it's the only moment I cried during the last two episodes. Hats off to CJH, glad he got his own moments to shine. Also, I'm glad that Sera's mom wasn't as horrible as some of us made her out to be and that her intentions came from love.
Disappointed that HD was swept under the rug as expected, but I don't know how else they're going to address it without killing the happy ending mood. Their love scenes made up for it. The kisses before they make love for real was wooooow. I can imagine the pervy reactions from all of you who were waiting for that to happen for so long. :D
Speaking of which, Geon and MY's love confession! Yay, we got that too, and it was sweet without being fake. Love what MY said about fate under the stars, that's exactly how I feel all along during the series. They like any other couples had to work through a lot to finally come together. It's not just fate at work, it took them years of emotional suffering!
I was half expecting triplets and half expecting twins because of all the hints, but I suspect that it's harder to cast triplets than twins in the end. But G-ma's plan worked, as expected of Chairwoman Wang.

  15. I also would like to show my appreciation and gratefulness for people who have participated in this thread. I won't be here for the livestream and recap, and knowing that by the time I get home, it'll be over and some people might not stick around.
My sentiments are the same with most of you. I don't watch Kdramas too often, and I only occasionally comment on one or two dramas I happen to catch. This is why I feel really lucky to have met such an intelligent, kind, and positive group of people. Even when there are moments in the drama when things aren't great or perfect, there was never any real complaining and dissent. We all coped together with humor and positive reflection. When the drama is being great, we'd all excitingly share our thoughts and emotions. We laughed and cried together, learned to appreciate Geon's laugh and hairstyles together. I couldn't have done it with a better group of folks.
My apologies for not being able to tag all the contributors to this thread, but know that I have often try to read as much as I can and give out awesomes, and insightfuls, and LOLs as much as I can. Even when I don't out of laziness, I appreciate that people felt safe and compelled to share their thoughts. My fingers just don't work fast enough! Thank you to those who have taken time out to find, share and translate news, articles, fan reviews, BTS, and so much more. Thank you to those who have creatively made some of the funniest gifs, memes, pic captions to brighten up our day.
I hope that we'll be seeing each other on the other upcoming drama threads and have a great time like we did here. :)
I'll be back later on to comment on the last episode and I'm sure say my goodbyes again. Thank you, everyone, you're the best!  >:D<

  16. @gumi
Thanks for the share, my gosh, just about every post from you is amazing. The eloquent fan review pinpointed the reason behind Geon's fear, insecurity, and finally his resolution precisely. JH's message to his wife was just poetry. I've seen this side of him on Real Men, but to see him be so consistently attentive and thoughtful towards his family makes me want all men out there to be like him as well.
