You can't force anyone to go to church. However, the Bible itself tells to foresake not he assembly of His people (Heb 10:25). The church is also symbolically represented in the Bible as the bride of Christ. So when we reject the church, in essence we are rejecting our joining with Christ. On a more practical level, I often hear people foresake church because of the hypocrisy they may see or because they haven't got the time. But we continue to go to jobs/schools where we may have issues with the people we see there everyday. We don't decide to give up work all together just because we encounter people who do not endear themselves to us or because we have hectic schedules. Yet when it comes to God's house, we come up with every excuse. Believe me I was a card carrying member of this club for years. At the end of the day, God is pleased when he sees brethren dwell together in unity and when we enter his gates and courts with thanksgiving and praise respectively.
You can't ever force anyone to do something they don't want to do, but you don't have to placate them and let them think it's ok. Holiness is right even if no one lives it.

I think Soobin is going to gain some sympathy from Min Jung and meybe even Chil Bok for this. She'll most likely turn the tables by saying Hose and Saebyuk wronging her by falling in love is turning her into a bad person. Min Jung is not going to see how calculating Soobin is.
I just hope that one day Soobin gets extorted by the guy she used to block in Min Jung that time and that little scheme gets exposed for all to see how long she's been a psycho.
Secretly Soobin is my favorite character. She just looks like so much fun to play. She gets to be crazy, but with just enough humanity that you almost feel sorry for her....don't kill me for saying that.

OMG. Brian coming to NYC??? I might be able to go... But I have to go on a Coach bus... After the incident this month, I'm not too sure my parents would let me go to NYC alone.

hopefully i will be able to go the party in new york that week...i should be settled in my dorm..so i will try to go. anywayz, i don't think the post mentioned it, but it's a 21+ event...yeah and although i haven't been to a club in about 3 years, Duvet is pretty strict about the age requirement from what i could remember. i hope you can make it too. i'm going by myself since i'm the only k-pop fan i know.

i'm so glad he is coming to NYC. i don't even go to clubs/lounges anymore, but i can't miss this opportunity...no one ever comes to NYC to perform!....and it's BRIAN!
i'll be like the only black fangirl there i'm sure, but see if i care. i'm picking up my ticket tomorrow...they're only $20, but you still have to pay the cover to get into the club.
how awful am i to run out of my best friends wedding asap to make sure i make it in time? are any of the ny attendees doing a like pre-event meet?

DaeJin's mother actually became his stepmother when he was 5, then bore DaeGoo sometime after that. We got the information from Hong YeonShil when she was making excuses to MinJung about hiding the family connection between Kim DaeGoo and Kim DaeJin.
Jang SaeByuk could possibly still be related to Oh YoungSook through some lost relative. Halmonee mentioned that Oh YoungSook was all alone except for the immediate family when she left home for a day in anger over TaeYoung's relationship with SoYoung. Perhaps Oh YoungSook was also a lost child who had a sibling that became Jang SaeByuk's biological parent.
how funny is it, that in the world of k-drama that is totally feasible? but, I don't think she was a lost child herself. wasn't one of halmonee's big objections to saebyuk at first that she has no parents/upbringing? if she objects that much to saebyuk for living in the house, do you think she would have let her son marry someone like that? she would throw it in ahjumma's face everytime they had a disagreement....like "of course you would think that way. what more can i expect from someone with no parents?"...sorry, i don't care much for halmonee.

I'm such a lurker, but I wanted to thank everyone who puts up the episode summaries. I can't watch this with english subs right becuase I just don't have the time, so the summaries really help. I'm glad things are finally starting to stir up with the hosae saebyuk plot.

Some great books I would suggest to anyone are "The Case for the Creator" and "The Case for Christ by Lee Stroebel (not sure if spelled right) which a scientific look at proving the existence of God and the life Jesus Christ, as well as "The Antiquities of Josephus," Translated by William Whiston which is a great parallel historical text to the bible.
If he created heaven to be perfect, what the heck was the point in creating Earth? Wouldn't that mean Earth is a mix of Heaven and Hell and would be a lesser version of hell?I don't think you should be giving so much faith into him.

Those are actually some deeply provocative theological questions. I'm not a theologian, but I sit under a ridiculously intelligent pastor and I will try my best to convey some of what he has imparted in his teachings regarding these questions.
Before the fall, Lucifer was the equivalent of a praise and worship leader in heaven. He had a kind of intimate access to God, that man has never experienced because he knew God in eternity and has experienced praising the Lord in the heavenly realm. Man was not created in heaven, nor do we ever read of him being in heaven before the fall of man. Rather in Genesis we read about God coming down to the earth realm to create man and to interact with him. We were made in his image an likeness so that we could to some extent replicate on earth what he does everywhere. We were formed to have dominion here on earth. What's so funny is Satan tempted Adam and Eve with something they already had (he said that if they ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge they would be as gods...lower case "G"), but since we are made in his likeness and image and were given dominion over every beast of the field, etc. and since wherever the sole of our feet shall tred, there shall we have dominion - Satan basically just told them if you do the exact opposite of what God says, you'll get to have what he has already told you that he has given you. Jesus was tempted in the same way by Satan after he fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and Satan offered him things that he was already guarnteed as the Son of God and though Jesus was tempted, he still refused.
There is a theory in theology called the Gap theory which says that the fall of Lucifer and the third of the heavenly hosts that went with him occurred before the creation of man and the earth as we know it. When Lucifer and Co. fell, it created a void and a temporary state of chaos. When repairing this chaos (because God is not the author of confusion and he preserves order) we see God separating the firmament in different layers of heaven and then the earth realm. He has now placed some distance between himself and that which he has made to replace the fallen former praisers. He makes a provision so that this time when something goes wrong, it won't affect the realm where he dwells.
We read of God being omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, but we never read where he is a puppetmaster forcing us to do his will. He still allows us free will. Adam and Eve did not have to eat of the fruit, there were many other trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food, but they chose of their own free will (the serpent never forced them) to do what God specifically instructed against. The third of heaven did not have to leave with Lucifer and the two-thirds did not have to remain, both were acts of free will. Do you want the one that you love to remain with you out of obligation and bondage or out of free choice? I don't want someone who is only with me because they have to be, why would God who nows how great he is want anything less? Satan serves his purpose quite well. He instigates situations that give us the choice to continue to pursue and trust God or to walk away from him. God doesn't force anyone to make the right decision, he gives opportunities to do so. Eventually, Satan and his followers will be destroyed, but for now even in his disobedience, God is able to use him to get a desired result. Satan is on a mission to take as many out with him as he can and he's chasing every person to get them to fall too, either you pursue God fast and desperately enough to escape or you don't and you die (IMO).
Also if you read Revelation 21:1, John speaks of seeing a new heaven and a new earth. If we were going to live in heaven after the final judgement, why would God bother to make a new earth as well? We weren't made initially to live in heaven. I think we'll live on earth, but our access to God will be greater and it will be a return to the idyllic nature of earth in the days of Eden without the threat of a serpent our poor judgement taking over again. I'm guessing we will appreciate it a bit more this time around, knowing just what we endured to get to that point.
So it's not sucking up to get to heaven, it's living you're life as best you can to ensure that you don't come to the same end that Satan ultimately will and so you can have a relationship with the same God that took the time to create you and see you through every day difficult or not. It has always seemed more farfetched to me that the order in which the universe operates in is completely random. And even Christians were really just deluded, is it so terrible to live a life patterned after someone who cared enough to heal people, to tell people society had discarded that they had value too and to sacrifice his life so that others could live. Is it so bad to choose to look on the bright side and believe in a better time even if you are going through terrible suffering? Is it better to just dwell on the suffering and never see a way out? What a waste of possible happiness that would be if I stressed so much about what was going wrong that I could never appreciate what was going well. I almost feel bad for the devil sometimes because we get do-overs for our biggest mistakes due to God's prevenial grace, Satan doesn't have that same luxury. Thank God for grace.
can't accept the answers because to me, they're excuses. For instance, the answer to why there are sufferings in the world (because God never promised a perfect Earth, he created Heaven for that) makes perfect sense to me. However, saying that God created/allows people to be born completely unable to do normal activities because He wants them to have faith in Him makes no sense. If God wants to test everybody's faith, He should be fair and give the same test out to everybody. Why does he give a 1st grade math test to some while giving a college essay and a bar exam to others? If God exists, He is unfair.A lot is hingent on whether you believe in Jesus and what he did for us. He came to this earth, lived as a man without sin so that he could take on the sins of everyone else and die for them. How fair is it to know that you did nothing wrong and yet have to be beaten, brutalized and crucified for the people who are guilty. And eventhough, he was every bit God, he was also every bit man. He felt hunger, tiredness, pain and even fear (the Garden of Gethsemene) and he could have decided it was all too much to bear, but he saw it through to the end to show that even in suffering, we can remain upright, faithful and true to God. What Jesus went through was not fair, but it had the desired effect in the Kingdom that God needed accomplished. Imagine if God held us all to the same standard and expected each of us to be rejected of our own, accused, beaten and crucified. We aren't all the same and what is difficult for me, may not be for someone else.
I grew up without a father, but it never bothered me and so I never viewed it as suffering. But I know others who grew up in the same situation and had to be delivered from their bitterness over it.
My aunt took care of my family for a very long time and has lived an incredibly difficult life. In recent years, she has been stricken by multiple (over 4 major and a few minor) strokes and a series of other infirmities that have been hard on her body and mind. I don't know how she does it. Sometimes she can barely get her ideas across, but she is still insistant on making it in to church and whenever we speak she works hard to talk to me about how good God is. Before I was saved I only saw her suffering, now I can see that even in her suffering she has found a deeper relationship with God. Not only that, but she ministers to me and works hard to show me why I have to remain faithful even when I don't understand why certain things are happening. She uses her affliction to help bring me and those around her into deeper fellowship with God. Her life is a blessing because a younger woman who suffered far fewer strokes than my aunt did, passed away in our church, but at her funeral because of the life she had led and the hand God had in that life, 19 people turned their lives over to Christ because they believed for real what she had told them about God. Her death was not fair, but it was effective
My Godbrother was born with Downs Syndrome and I grew up watching people treat him cruelly because they didn't understand him and feared him. He is very tall and large, so his facial features and size can intimidate those who don't know him. But he loves people and even when they treat him badly he finds a reason to say something nice and smile (don't get it twisted sometimes he gets mad and will tell them off, but at the heart of it when he sees one of us ready to fight for him he tells us it's ok.) Junior understands that he is different, but he doesn't care. He also knows that he is loved not only by us, but by God. All of his brothers and sisters are perfectly healthy, but he is the glue that has kept our relationships together in the midst of some horrible family fights.
I went through a period of time where in retrospect I know I was clearly manic-depressive and I pretty much lost my good mind and everyone around me just kept telling me to get over whateever I was going through. I was kicked out of my home, I almost dropped out of school, I lived recklessly and people thought I was acting out for no reason, but I genuinely felt like I had no control. What seemed like no big deal to everyone else was about to be the thing that made me pop a whole pack of pills and end it. It was the same thing that got me into a situation where a gun was pointed to my head and I should have died in a park just blocks away from a class I should have been attending. There are things that happen that seem insignificant and hardly difficult to others, but to that person at that time it is the hardest thing to bear. It wasn't until the day that I went to a church service (and I was not a church goer before so my going was totally random) and heard the man who is now my Pastor talk about being afflicted in the mind, but how there was a way to get help out there that I began to see hope again and take control. It wasn't easy, believe me I kept that same pack of pills just in case Jesus didn't work out, but one day I realized that he really was with me and I had survived what other people had died in that I threw them out. Everyone still remembers who I was then in my family and it is incredibly hard to show them how different I am now. There are times when I feel like they will never believe me and I realized that may just be the case, but I'll be ok through it all.
I even just got a call a few minutes ago from one of our church members. She has been faithful for years. She went to my Pastor's father's church and has never left the ministry and continued to serve diligently and faithfully. She is in her senior years, but very healthy. Yesterday she seemed to have lost the vision in one of her eyes and the doctors have no idea why. I started getting nervous and she just told me not to worry, the enemy is alredy defeated and she knows she is healed. There's no reason for this to happen to her, but she believes that God will see her through any situation. It's not fair that people who are less faithful than her are absolutely healthy, but she knows what Jesus has already done for her and the healing he can do, so she's decided to stay on the path where Jesus is her choice.
It's in our hardest times, that we learn more about God and what he has purposed for our lives. He never promised it would be easy for us, but in all fairness he didn't make it easy for himself either.
I know it was long, but there are a million more examples out there and it will always come down with what you choose to see. Believing that God loves you and in the promises he has made to us in spite of the trials we must face is a choice and not an easy one. But I really think we forget how much it hurts him when we sin or deny him, but he still grants us life and that is a blessing because you can't live it from the grave. Would your life be better if your brother was never born or if he died? My Godbrother has had it hard from birth (he almost died the day he came here), but selfishly I'm thankful for his life. Because when everyone else turned their backs on me, he smiled at me the same way, hugged me the same way, loved me the same way and sometimes that was the only thing that kept me alive until I got a word spoken over my life showing me how worth living it really was.

Today I am grateful for:
1. Life & Health - I realize they're not promised and if nothing else is going right God has really blessed me with an abundant amount of both.
2. An honest God who cares enough to tell me exactly when I am wrong, but still let me know I am loved.
3. A job - I realized that I spent so much time complaining about where I am that I forgot to be grateful for it and was missing out on all the ways I could enjoy the 8 hours I spend here rather than count down the time.
4. My mother - we don't always understand each other like we used to, but she has the best in mind for me and I know that she is on my side in her heart.
5. Everyone in the world - it sounds expansive and trite, but how cool is it that God took the time to make and love each and every one of us. He doesn't make mistakes and everyone has a purpose. So I'm grateful that I get to share this world with other masterpieces that God has made.

I just read an article on the BBC website yesterday about Japanes immigrants celebrating 100 years in Brazil. The article documented the ways in wchich teh cultures had an impact on each other. That's what happens when people of different cultures interact for prolonged periods of time, there is going to be a degree of adaptation and intermingling. We live in a global world and there's nothing wrong with being interested in all that the world has to offer.
I went to Stuyvesant in NY which is a predominantly white and asian high school. I got strange looks for liking alternative rock and country music over hip-hop just because I'm black. It never meant that I was trying to be white. Likewise when kids of other races listend to hip-hop or reggae it never made me think they were trying to be black. Heck the asian kids were prolific at using the word n**** when I went there and I still never thought they did not want to be asian. It's a mixed culture and it comes with its good and bad components. I don't scorn Junku for being interested enough in reggae music to pursue being the dancehall queen (many moons ago) even though she is Japanese.
Now if someone genuinely hates who they are and thinks that being from another culture would make them better somehow, then that's a bit much and they probably need help not words of hate ridicule.
As for me, I still like rock and country, but now I've added in some k-pop, indie k-music and some j-pop and j-rock. I love being black and I love being Indian. So what about the mixed babies like me. Are not allowed to appreciate both sides of who are and still choose to like something even outside of that? How very limiting life would be if I let the opinions of others stop me.

Masala is an indian spice mixture that's dark in color. My mom's parents moved from India to Jamaica, so ethnically she is completely Indian. My cousins and I are all mixed with black to varying degrees, but I am the darkest out of them all, so I got dubbed masala because I'm dark and I have a talk back problem (until I was saved my mouth was very spicy). I tried to use masala as my sn when I first started joining forums and things like that, but it was always taken. I figured why not write it backwards since I seem to do everything else in this world booty backwards.

I finally got my album! It is so good, but I am totally in need of translations. I love One and Girl, but everything is great. I'm still at work so I haven't had a chance to really soak up the sounds and mull over it.

I pre-ordered my copy of PP1 from yesasia so it took forever for them to deliver it. The ETA was yesterday and when I stalked USPS tracker, it didn't arrive until today. So I called my job's mailroom to see when it would arrive and they say we don't have it! I was like whaddyamean!?! So they refer me to USPS who then says someone from your offices mailroom picks packages up from our post office directly and then distributes it. So I call back my mailroom and they say yeah, but we still don't got have it...check back on tuesday or wednesday. Why is my life so hard? I pray it's a limited edition signed copy to compensate for all my troubles...off to pray diligently to the heavenly Father who does all things well (that compliment has to get me at least one point with the Lord right?)

Omo! Close encounters of the first kind with Epik High. Soooooo Lucky. I wouldn't even know what to do with myself if I got that close by accident. I would probably spaz and just go into total hip-hop fangirl mode. Don't get me wrong it totally helps that they're adorable guys, but it's the music that gets me going for them. I'll get started on the time machine so all of us can go back with you...lol.

My pastor actually told us the other day to be careful how loosely we use the term Christian. It implies that not only do we believe in Jesus the Christ and all he did, but also that we pattern our lives after his example. He went so far as to say ask yourself if you are a Christian or just a believer. If you live life only believing in Christ then you ignore the fact that faith without works is dead. Likewise if you live a "holy" life and are a "good" person, but you live without faith in the Almighty, then though you receive esteem in the eyes of men, in God's eyes you're like the pharisees and saducees who were only holy for show (and Jesus made very clear how little he cared for both sects in the bible).
Maintaining the balance between our belief and our works is a daily battle that we must persevere at if we truly want to call ourselves christian. We have an obligation to seek God and his Kingdom in our daily lives. David himself even speaks of inquiring in the temple of God. It's okay to have questions. Take them to God in prayer, take them to your leader in bible study and take them to your peers in conversation. I used to think that all these terrible things happen to innocent people and God just lets it happen and I scorned him. But when I really read about Jesus' passion it helped me to understand that bad things happen to good people and it doesn't make him any less God. In point of fact God himself came down to earth as flesh, lived a truly holy and sin free life and allowed himself to be beaten violently, spat upon, scorned openly, nailed (with huge spikes) to a rugged wooden cross, lifted up for all to see upon it between men who had so egregiously acted in a criminal manner that they merited such a death in the eyes of the law and stayed up there until they pierced through his side with a spear just to ensure his death. he did all this so that he could bear the burden of every sin that those who would believe on his name would ever commit. He could have come down from the cross because God can do anything, but because he truly loved us he paid such a steep price that we could be redeemed. He gave everything he could as a man on this earth including his very life. if he's willing to sacrifice that much for us, why is it so unreasonable to expect reciprocation?
When we say I love you, we want to hear it back. Love is not just in words, but in acts. You show people that you love them and you expect them to show you that they love you in return. That's how healthy relationships work.
I can honestly say that I have seen God work miracles. I have been in a room and witnessed blinded eyes see and the lame walk. It's awesome. But I also wake up each day with my right mind and a functioning body. I don't take it for granted at all that my health and well being are in such good standing. And miracles are not just in the typical eyes seeing, ears hearing, lame walking, houses, land or cars packages. I've witnessed people delivered through one well placed word/message from life consuming bitterness and hatred. I've seen people turn from intense depression and self loathing to fully embracing the life more abundantly that we are promised.
Seek him out. Look for what God has to say to you in your every day interactions, the books you read, the bible and sermons. If you aren't being well fed in terms of the word at your present ministry, pray that he direct you to one that does ignite your faith again. Not only pray, but actively seek a ministry home that truly brings you closer to him. It doesn't mean that where you are now is demonic or not delivering good word, but it just might not be the place where you can be planted and recieve rich nourishment.
If people don't want to believe in God, that's a choice they make. I can't and I won't force anyone to believe in God, because He doesn't force us. It's a choice. But what harm does it do to make that choice to believe in him. To believe that someone loves us so much that he would suffer so greatly on our behalf?
If taken to an extreme, then without God, then it's ok to rape or murder or just be completely reprobate. If I don't have to believe in God and his doctrines, then why do I have to believe in the societal mores that so many people the world over observe? The fact that so many people prescribe to a fairly standard moral code, proves to me that God is real and that his demand for holiness is not unreasonable. If you want a guarnatee that he is real, it can't come from another person. That really is something you have to make up your own mind about. But if by chance hell is real and I can avoid by believeing in Jesus who did so much for me and then I can make him happy and show him I love him by not lying or seeking to hurt others (which is the same courtesy I try to extend to the people I love on this earth); if by chance there really is a heaven and i can be a part of it and get to meet the person who took my sins and washed them away through the sacrifice of his blood, then what harm can it do. I want to live that righteous kind of life. I do it for my God absolutely, but i would be a liar if i said that i felt no benefit of that lifestyle here on earth. And he does challenge us, but so do the people we love on a daily basis.
Why do we lambast God for wanting us to show love for him the way we do one to another? You could tell me you love me now and I wouldn't believe you because we don't know each other. There's no relationship. But if we go through some things together, good and bad alike, and our relationship endures then I can start to believe you. Love is proven each time it is given.

I feel like a kid on a sugar rush. i just pre-ordered from yes-asia. I am going to have such a spaz attack when I get my album. I love that their music not only transcends genres, but also language barriers. I don't understand a lick of korean, but the first time I heard and Epik High Song I knew I was listening to awesome music and had to know more about it.

Lots of my friends from work and school say my name backwards so Jamak.
Some folks at church call me Camouflage...oddly enough my gym teacher in the 6th grade thought that was my name and so it stuck.
At home they just stick a word in front of the second half of my middle name.
Jana-Lou becomes Lazy-Lou, Grumpy-Lou...you get the idea.

I actually went to the fansigning and I have to say that Brian Joo is really a nice and personable guy. He does small talk really well.
Me: hey can you sign my planner (in my head doh!...I meant to make him sign a concert flyer instead). Sorry I didn't bring a CD
Brian: No problem. So how did you get into Fly to the Sky?
Me: I actually saw you perform a worship song on Myspace TV at the Korea Rise Up concert. I looked you up and found your solo album and then I found Fly to the Sky.
Brian: Wow that's cool.
Me: Well if you ever do a worship album, I promise I'll be one of the first to buy it.
Brian: I'm actually coming out with an all Christian Worship album in hopefully a year or so.
Me: Really?! That is so awesome! Do your best (in my mind...doh! who actually says that?!)
Brian: here you go.
Me: Thanks. I hope you continue to do really well.
I know my conversation skills are a little lacking...but he was just so cute.
I am sooo glad I went to see the performance at Duvet. It was a nice turnout and I got to be really close to the stage. I took a fancam too (I was right next to holdfast), but I won't post it because it looks so shaky. He sounded just as good live as he does on recordings.
I hope this is the first of many kpop events in NYC in the future.
