  1. Episode 18 is the end for me. I'm not going to watch episode 19 and 20.. I have zero interest now (especially after hearing that JH served as an extra in the finale..). I saved all the episodes on my harddisk, cause I thought this would be a drama that I will cherish throughout years, but what can I say now? Hurray to the 30GB of free space!

You know why I am pissed off? Not the fact that Taek is the husband, but the fact that the writer and production team have taken advantage of my emotional attachment by making us fall in love with Junghwan and luring us to believe that he is the husband, so that we became a bunch of fools sitting through 18 episodes, some of you 20 episodes even, just to witness Junghwan and Dukseon's love that NEVER CAME TRUE (you arshholes!). Even after episode 13 (14?) when Junghwan's screentime was reduced to 5 minutes per 130-min episode, I was still assure that Junghwan's time will come, cause they needed to conclude the adults' storylines first so that the remaining episodes could be totally centered around Junghwan and Dukseon's development. N O T. They just trolled and toyed with us for the sake of ratings and gimmick.

You know, if Taek was decided from the get-go, fine, even better I would say, but why bother to make future Husband act, talk and even sit like Junghwan (especially obvious in his first appearance with elder Dukseon). The only reason possible would be the fact that they deliberately wanted us to believe that the husband is Junghwan, even going as far as making old Taek act like Junghwan (WTF). I'm disappointed with the production team for disturbing the flow, consistency and logic of the drama for the sake of building up a "guess-the-husband" gimmick to lure viewers. That's not how you cope with your audience! And no, I'm not being a crybaby because Taek is the husband, I'm pissed off because I feel cheated. Had they not shown elder Dukseon and her mysterious husband, who the f. would care about this outcome, I will congratulate Taek, because the image of her husband would be unclear anyway, and it could possibly be anyone, also less risks for plot holes. But they f*cking made old Taek act totally unlike-Taek. You know, plot holes such as Dukseon's confession to Sunwoo can be covered up by flashbacks of Taek overhearing them, but PERSONALITY INCOSISTENCY.. how the f. are you going to convince me on that? Future husband feels distanced and cold to Dukseon (totally a Junghwan attitude), he talks very differently from Taek, even asked her whether she wants to die because who would call her husband "Ya!" (totally in a Junghwan tone), he sits exactly like how young Junghwan sits on his sofa, even putting his leg up (Note: Taek, being a baduk master, has a very correct sitting position of 90 degrees most of the time as you can notice throughout the drama. Since he is a professional baduk player, his formal sitting position will most likely be an unchangable habit during his whole life). Don't come up and say to me that "people change". Yes, people grow up but you cannot make a crab walk straight! Young Taek was introvert and sweet, a bit shy but never cold and impolite or mean to anyone! He is probably the last out of the four guys to say things like "do you want to die? do you need to check out the mirror (to see how ugly you are)? are you going senile? tsk look at all the guys you liked, you really have no shame" to Dukseon. Regardless of whether he is 25 or 45 years old, because that is his personality, his intrinsic quality. They screwed up the flow and logic in the husband's character just to make us, the audience, believe that the husband is Junghwan. A big middlefinger to the people who are behind this conspiracy!

Option 2, if Taek was not decided from the beginning, I give you drama an even bigger middlefinger! Because that will mean they FORCIBLY broke down Junghwan and Dukseon's loveline and development and deliberately reduced RJY's screentime to that of an extra. Why? Because Junghwan and Deoksun have wonderful potential as a pairing, Junghwan as a character has plenty room for development and complexity. But why did that all turn into dust? Yes, because they forcibly decided to wreck this ship and destroy Junghwan's character in order to justify Taek and Dukseon's pairing. Junghwan and Dukseon's feelings were mutual. He liked her and she liked him at the right timing. We have seen much more of what she did for Junghwan as a girl who has fallen in love, such as waiting for him at the busstation before the sun has risen and buying him a special birthday present, than what she did for Taek instead, like being someone who is babysitting him by tucking him into bed like his mum would probably do. We have seen what Junghwan has done for Dukseon out of his own as a boy who is madly in love with a girl: protected her with his body in the bus, brought her an umbrella when it was raining, friggen waited for her to come home every night, went to Gangnam to play with her chitchatty girlfriends, bought her pink gloves simply because she mentioned liking it, told his girl not to go on a blinddate. Taek has done things for Dukseon too. But compared to what Junghwan did? Taek bought her gloves because she was his secret santa and because he felt guilty that he forgot about it! He protected her from the burberry man because he knew she was scared, but let's be honest, if only Junghwan knew Dukseon was scared he would be the first one to punch that burberry man down like he did to the guy who insulted Sunwoo and his deceased dad. The ship isn't wrecked because things were not working out, the characters being incompatible or because the story was not flowing, no, it was forcibly wrecked to make room for another couple, based on four absolutely ridiculous reasons that can in no way justify the loss of such a potentional pairing: 1). bad timing (.. my a ss. They made Junghwan lose his girl on purpose and then blamed it on the general excuse: bad timing) 2. stupid noble idiocracy. 3. a Junghwan who is studying his as s off 24/7 like he is aiming for Harvard. 4. a damn pink shirt.

RJY's screentime being reduced to 5 minutes per 130-min episode says enough about the production team's strong and clear decision in forcing Junghwan-Dukseon to step down and to make it all turn into dust.

  3. Please, please spoil me! Explain to me the end of Nivana on fire? Red handkerchief is fall down-it's a sign that Su Zhe is dead?

Yes, I don't know if you have noticed, but in the previous episode, Jingyan covered Xiao Shu's ancestor tablet with a red handkerchief (the scene where Chiyan's army and Prince Qi's funeral altar is restored). Apparently, the red handkerchief symbolizes that the person whose name is written on the ancestor tablet has not passed away yet in tradition, but you could also see it as a gesture of Jingyan to cover up Xiao Shu's ancestor tablet which is only given to those who have died. So for Jingyan to uncover the tablet and the fall down of the handkerchief means that the tablet is now officially being used (Xiao Shu's name is on the tablet). You can compare the tablet with a gravestone.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I'm crying right now! But i read there and here and some said there some another epiloegue when Xiao Shu is alive?

Yes, but that is only because the "epilogue" took place before Mei Chang Su left to Jinling, before the story began. So, Xiao Shu did pass away, confirmed by the producers and directors themselves. They didn't want to confuse the audience that Xiao Shu is still alive with the epilogue so they personally clarified this on their Weibos, because Xiao Shu being alive would take away the meaning behind the grief of Jingyan and Nihuang. The whole thing would have turned into a joke.

  5. demarchelier said: Hello everyone, soompi newbie here. Well, more like silent lurker really. I thought that I make a comment since everyone seemed bummed about the recent bottled water controversy.
I just read some of the comments on the recent articles in Naver. It seems that the vitriol comments are subsiding. Any hate comments are getting mostly down votes. Most comments are about JJH & KSH making the right decision to terminate the contract and be careful next time. In fact the knetz are turning on the journalists who are still reporting about the controversy and why they continue to fuel the fires with inflammatory articles.
My two cents on the controversy. I blame their agencies! Culture Depot and Key East really dropped the ball on this one. Thankfully some knetz have said the same thing. I've worked on some concerts and music festivals. Most of the time I am dealing with the artists' reps with contracts and such. Never the artists themselves. I don't meet with the artists until soundcheck and the final performance. Even then the reps are handling every little detail. I have friends who work with celebrities', and they say the same thing. I feel bad for JJH. Yes, she has the final say before signing the contract, but she put her trust in her agency in doing their job. Isn't that why her agency gets a big chunk of her payday?

  6. Some highlights from the interview that @Nino posted (http://www.tvreport.co.kr/?c=news&m=newsview&idx=503019)
    - Why did she choose The Crossing: First, the story is good. Wanted to collaborate with JW. He liked her character in Hwang Jin-yi.
    - What makes The Crossing attractive: When JW is mentioned, people will automatically recall his male oriented movies. So audience will be surprised at how well he grasped the little details in this film.
    - Did some training with HXM for the dance portion of the film. Practiced piano in Korea.
    - Nicknames on the set between actors: ZZY calls her "mei" (Chinese equivalent for "Dongsaeng-ahh"). She calls ZZY as "Ziyi" (she refers her as "(Zhang Zi-yi) unnie" in the interview though). Unnie knows some simple Korean words. Others call her Song Hui-qiao. HXM has Korean friends so therefore he is good at Korean. LOOL.
    - She likes Korean food. So she took like 10 side dishes with her. She made Kimchi jjigae (soup) in her apartment while filming in China. And sometimes she goes out to eat in Beijing.
    - Whether she will continue work on Chinese productions: Yes, if there are good productions/directors/scripts. She knows her fans wonder why she keeps on doing Chinese productions, and rarely Korean local productions. But it's not like that. If she finishes one production in Korea, it's better to spend her time working on a new, great production instead of wasting her time considering the fact that she has many time anyway after filming ended. So whether it's a Chinese film or Korean film, it will undoubtedly improve her acting skills.
    - What role does she wants to tackle in the future: wuxia/martial arts.

  7. Kkk.. wow HXM and Kyo are cute together .. as buddies I mean.

I'm glad that the cast and crew all treated her friendly and made her feel at home and comfortable. They surely get along well! It must be nervous and uneasy for her to stand in the middle of a foreign crew, in a foreign country without knowing much of the language. It's nice to see ZZY patting Kyo on the shoulder like an unnie who is taking care of her dongsaeng. And HXM seems like a great buddy lol, always trying his best to help her. I can see that he is constantly chatting/joking with her so she won't feel left out in the group. I wonder what language they are using? Mr. Huang is known for his Chinglish. Haha, I'm so mean.

And ofcourse Director Woo, who seems really proud of everyone like a loving dad lol.

How cute of Director Woo and his wifey. They were too awkward to hug each other.. no wonder it made Kyo giggle lol.

  8. Congratulations.. the ship has sailed for good!

1,5 hour would have been a bit better though.. some things were a bit rushed. Kang-jae died ten minutes before closure. LOL. It made me feel anxious because they were seriously running out of time. You know.. clock is ticking but I'm still thirsty for some warm YW-SR moments. Jeez, kudos to writer-nim for being able to wrap this up decently within what ... 5 minutes.. ?!

The cherry blossom ending reminded me of TWTWB ending. So beautiful.. Se-ro's megawatt smile aww.

  9. Me too.. I'm really hoping that she could grab the Daesang at KBS for her excellent performance in MDSY. Actually, from her interview with KBS two weeks ago, I think there might be a possibily for her to attend the KBS Drama Awards, since the host asked her which (KBS for MDSY or SBS for ICHYV) of the Drama Awards she would like to attend. So obviously, there is still a chance for MDSY to be nominated again this year, otherwise, KBS wouldn't be asking such questions. MBC's Horse Doctor, which ran from 2012 to 2013 as well, is nominated for the MBC Drama Awards this year as well. The lead actor Jo Seung Woo won the Daesang last year already but he is in the competition for this year's Daesang as well. So, I guess it is not uncommon to be nominated twice?

The candidates for SBS's Daesang are very strong and each of them did very well this year. SHK is my bias as well. It would be perfect if she can take home the Daesang at SBS, and BY unnie at KBS for her performance as Seoyoung. KBS didn't have any outstanding dramas this year (ratings and reception wise), except for Good Doctor and Secret. MDSY still remains the top rated drama of all TV dramas broadcasted in Korea this year. Her main competitor for KBS Daesang will most likely be Joo-won. I only watched ten episodes of Good Doctor (I dropped it midway), so I can't say much about his performance, but he did excellent in the 10 episodes I watched. However, compared to the other three A-level actors in the run for SBS's Daesang, I think the chances at KBS Drama Awards are higher, because they have less pork to divide compared to SBS which had a dozen of "outstanding, attention grabbing" dramas this year.

    My guess~
    If she attends SBS:
    Daesang: Either SHK or LBY
Top Excellence Female: Either SHK, LBY, Soo-Ae or Gong Hyo-jin
    Top Excellence Male: Min Jong-kook?

    If she attends KBS:
Daesang: LBY (I think the Daesang will most likely go to BY if she attends. They won't invite her "for nothing".)
    Top Excellence Female: Hwang Jung-eum
Top Excellence Male: Ji Sung and Joo-won (Two winners)

I think KBS is trying their best to pull BY over. They need some star power and we all know BY's popularity has skyrocketed this year. BY's hubby will most likely attend KBS. If BY attends KBS as well, it will be garning some interests and buzz without a doubt as it would be the first time for the newlyweds to be at the same award ceremony after their marriage. So there is no reason for KBS to not try anything they can in order to convince BY unnie lol.

  10. tessieroo said: @gaby81 - Good show of Ji Sung to watch? "My PS Partner" *heeheehee* He was awesome. It's up at Good Drama  :D He was pretty good in "Protect the Boss" too - similar role to this one - silly, spoiled, whiny chaebol son.
Best HJE to me is "Can You Hear My Heart" Yes, it is long (30 episodes) but she's really good. I loved that whole drama, the whole case was amazing.
So "Secret" is the highest rated drama for KBS this year? a040.gif

Oh, I just saw Jules at Twinkies Musing posted a review of episodes 1-6!!!  WooHoo! Here:http://koreandramareviews.com/secret-episodes-1-6/

  11. I was just wondering.. Does YJ know that MH is Jihee's boyfriend and the father of the unborn child? Sometimes I think she does, but sometimes I think she doesn't.. Especially when DH asked her a few times "Do you know who he is?" (Implying that he is the boyfriend of the woman they ran over with a car). But from YJ's clueless expression, it seems like she doesn't know?
