  1. I'm writing in this forum for the first time after watching this show for a 3rd time. I didn't watch the show when it was being aired, binged on the whole thing later. And I kept going back to this show.

It's not perfect. It's not a legendary story like Crash Landing on You or It's Okay to Not Be Okay. It's not a complete package with entertaining subplots, like Hometown Cha Cha Cha. It has its flaws. It's a story that we have seen before. But it's the treatment that has me completely whipped. The two leads, bless the person who cast them together, fit each other so well it seems that they aren't even acting. They carried the show on their shoulders with their sincere portrayal. I'd been a fan of Choi Woo Shik when I didn't even know who he was. I l really liked him in Train to Busan and later on in Parasite and only figured much later that it was the same actor. He has this very laid back sexy vibe about him that I rate over abs and hot looks. Choi Woong was written for him, in fact Choi Woong is him.

Kim Dami, I didn't know well then. Now I do and she's incredible! Nobody could portray Yeon Su apart from her, with the right balance of tenderness and firmness. She made Yeon Su humane and realistic, anybody else would have overdone it with the cold arrogant vibe or the melodrama.

I had my reservations while starting this drama. But it is the realism in the show that makes me come back. It shows the anatomy of a relationship, when you start out young, idealistic, wide eyed, full of young love and then couple of years into it, things don't quite work out. He is too laid back, doesn't seem to know what he wants in life, she seeks stability as that's the one thing she's never had. The narration of the show is clever as they show, in some places, how memory plays a trick on you when you recollect old incidents. I wish they'd spent more time in the non-linear narration than the story of the secondary characters. They were good characters but I was too invested in the romance, how it began, how it ended, why it ended, and if it rekindles, will it sail through now. And more importantly, I wanted to feel everything the characters were feeling. I sobbed for Woong, I cried for Yeon Su, I felt like an eavesdropper, listening in as they quietly navigated the different stages of love and heartbreak.

This show is a masterpiece. It will not be very popular as many other dramas as it's not a formulaic entertainment package, but it has a hypnotizing sincerity backed by powerful performances. A story that's told honestly will always find praise.

Our Beloved Summer - take a bow!

  2. My heart is so full!

I'm going to miss this show so much :'(

The coming weekends will feel empty without Chi Yeol sem, Haeng Seon, Hae e and the rest.

I wish we saw more positive portrayals. It's unfair to wrap it all up in one episode. I wish I saw Hui Jae on the trip with his mom, I wish I saw how Sua's mom overcame the scandal and found her true calling, I wish I saw how Sua dealt with her anxiety and her budding friendship with Geon hu, I wish more time was spent on these characters rather than the murder mystery. And I didn't like the trope of Hye e's birth mom coming back, I mean there was no dearth of drama in the show otherwise, this one could be avoided.

Nam Haeng Seon didn't act like a wilted flower and proposed to her man, claimed her right on him. Hye Won is doing a good job of replacing Ji Dong Hui as the assistant. I hope she'll keep sharing appropriate relationship advice for Choi Chi Yeol.

Wish Sun Jae & Hae e got more screentime rather than her selfish mom getting it. At least, in her letter, Haeng ja didn't act like an opportunist and told her sister that she's no less than the Trillion Won man.

Nam Haeng Seon can finally follow her dreams. How beautiful was the scene when Hae e runs towards her eomma, like old times, reminding us once again that this show is about a woman and her daughter. They are at the centre of it.

Loved everything about this episode except the parts featuring Nam Haeng Ja. We didn't need a foil character to show what a great mother Haeng Seon is. That was already established.

The best show of 2023, so far! It's already among the most watched shows on tvN. Glad it's getting the recognition it deserves.

  3. Enjoyed this drama.

I have watched Run On but this show made me see Im Siwan in a whole new light. His performance is so understated and yet honest, exactly what the character needed.

I was getting Hometown Cha Cha Cha vibes from this one and that show is my absolute favourite. However, there was more to this show.

It isn't the light-hearted romance that I thought it would be. In fact, at one point seemed more like Our Blues than HCCC. Owing to the fact that it has only 12 episodes and not 16, it should have been more balanced. There wasn't as much comedy or romance compared to the tragic scenes and the murder mystery plot.

The library interactions and the trip were my favourites. Initially, how he shied away from talking to her was so cute. Instead of the murder mystery dragging on throughout the show, the writers could have brought it in towards the last episodes and devoted the time to exploring the characters in depth, instead. There was so much to learn about Ahn Dae Bom - how did he grow up, what does he cook, what does he listen to, how does he live. I was really looking forward to that. Also, I didn't understand why did they devote an entire episode to the drunken antiques of the protagonist, it didn't move the story forward by any means. If it was just for comic relief then it seemed repetitive, and after that point onwards, comedy scenes pretty much departed the show. Idk how they showed a girl from Seoul to be so naive that anyone takes her for a ride. Kdramas either have foul-mouthed characters who will yell and slap people at the drop of a hat, or they'll be complete pushovers who'll let people walk all over them. There's no in between.

  4. I got a rude shock when I realised that the show ended at 12 episodes. I was hoping for a different ending, but I understand that the showmakers tied things up - Eun Beom goes to therapy, Ha Ra is seeking newer pastures. Some endings are bittersweet and there can be no reconciliation, no matter how much they love each other, they want different things. At least this show wasn't as frustrating and incomprehensible as The Interest of Love. I enjoyed the ride.

  5. Regardless of popular opinion, I'm fairly sure Mr. Ji is the culprit. He's definitely the dead student's brother, he's lost weight, changed his name. He is acting like an obsessed lover now, deleting Chi Yeol's messages, taunting Haeng Seon. And he kills cats! He should burn in hell for eternity! People who torture women, children and animals are the worst kind of people and should never get another chance! I'm glad Haeng Seon trusted her judgement and told Choi Chi Yeol about Ji's strange behaviour. At least, he knows that there was an issue. Probably it's due to my voracious consumption of crime content, I knew something would go wrong the moment I saw the yacht. Yachts are always crime scenes. After today's incident, Haeng Seon seemed afraid of Mr. Ji.

I'm not too invested in the teen romance angle but I liked Hae e and Sun Jae's meeting. Hae e took the right step in going the extra mile for her friend who needed her support. They are more mature than the adults. I am not liking Geon hu's actions - he's acting pushy and a lot of times women get tired and give in to persuasive men and get in a relationship even when they aren't sure. This is not the kind of stuff that we wanna see onscreen with Gen Z characters. On the other hand, I don't know if Hae e will be happy with Sun Jae - his mother seems to control his life and he will not be able to stand up to her and his love interest will suffer due to this. He's too hesitant, everytime he tries to communicate with Hae e, his mother calls and he just gives in.

Speaking about Sun Jae eomma, I kinda also feel for her. Of course her parenting is totally flawed but she's alone in this. Their father is absent from their lives. Separation from your wife is not an excuse to become an absent parent. Even if I'm to consider that their mother wanted full custody of the two sons, the father should also make an effort to be a part of his sons' lives and contribute in important decisions. He seems happy to let his wife do all the heavy-lifting and then also blame her. He allowed his wife's abusive controlling behaviour and didn't stand up for his sons. He's also to be blamed for Hui Jae's condition.

I was praying that Sun Jae eomma asking for a favour from the education director doesn't affect Hae e in any way but it did!! In the preview she's also trying to manipulate Hae e but I've faith in Hae e, she won't do anything stupid but she'll do the right thing. I hope she confides in Choi Chi Yeol and he protects her. His student also gave her life under similar circumstances.

I hate that Nam Haeng Seon bowed to the overbearing woman that is Sun Jae eomma. She didn't even acknowledge her, yet Haeng Seon was again trying to butt in between her and her son. Good that Choi Chi Yeol stopped her. She really needs to stop being so gullible for her daughter's sake at least! I think it's also a class thing in South Korea - people who belong to a lower social class feel obligated to behave in a certain way in front of privileged people. Choi Chi Yeol could break that pattern because of his financial success and he climbed the social ladder. But Nam Haeng Seon is socially conditioned to people please - probably also due to her profession which entails customer service. But she needs to come out of this, because Choi Chi Yeol can't protect her everytime. They compliment each other really well - she's naive, full of love even for those who don't deserve it and works hard like a donkey - while he's sharp, quick witted and cannot be manipulated.

I think I've covered all the important points - now let's get to the cringeworthy moments. What was that storyline between Young Ju and Jae Woo? :grimace: I mean, of course Jae Woo is also deserving of love but that's literally his noona, they cannot introduce this new plot point in the 12th episode all of a sudden! I also found it quite manipulative of Young Ju, the way she gave excuses to take him out. I was praying he doesn't eat the food, or else I'd have to bleach my eyes seeing them together. I hope he didn't get into trouble while going back home alone, that poor thing.

OK but excuse me!!! This must be one of the hottest mistranslations in K-drama history. 한 번만 나쁜 놈 될게  isn't "let me be with you for once", it's "I'm going to be the badass here for once"

    Haha is it??

Lol I love it. Choi Chi Yeol is a badass indeed. Loving a married woman, expressing it unabashedly to the world, I can't imagine how happy he'll be after discovering she's actually single. Can't wait for the next episodes. *gasp*

  7. He got to know!!

Hae e went and told the truth. Glad that she wasn't shown in a negative light. Now Choi Chi Yeol's free to teach her too!

I knew Lee Sang Yi's cameo wasn't over. He became the catalyst in broadcasting the truth as well!

    The kiss was real!!! :rickroll:

The mopey episodes are over, now it will back to fun and mystery.

The assistant definitely has issues, the way he threw his phone.

Idk how Korean society is so influenced by social media, but looking at the celebrity scandals, it doesn't seem like an exaggeration.

  8. Whoa the mothers are nastier than I imagined!

Why are most of the women in this show steeped in such internalized misogyny?

I completely get Hae e for trying to protect herself, she's a kid after all. I just hope the showmakers don't make her the villain in her aunt/mother's love story.

Choi Chi Yeol is becoming one of my favourite male leads - he's decisive, resolute, doesn't mince words, has the courage to stand up for what he deems correct, is protective without being obnoxious. He tells Nam Haeng Seon to back off as it was his problem to deal with and he was taking care of it, till she butts in. Also the moment he realizes he has feelings for her, he decides to minimize his interactions with her, as he still believes she's married.

Nam Haeng Seon needs to stop being so naive. For instance, towards the beginning of the show, she never realized that Hae e needs tutoring, some additional guidance since she'll take the CSAT soon. Her protesting in front of the academy was in poor choice, which got Hae e blacklisted. Instead, she could have written an online post, as that's where people are these days - however, without that we would never have Choi Chi Yeol teach Hae e separately. Then, she needlessly inserted herself between Choi Chi Yeol and the obsessive mothers, when he had carefully whisked them away to his office, again leading to speculations. She was also trying to justify the influencer's behaviour, when because of him her brother landed in the hospital! For someone who has gone through a lot of hardships, her character is surprisingly naive. I hope we see more of Lee Sang Yi as the influencer.

Apart from Choi Chi Yeol, my favorite character today was Dan ji. She didn't hold a grudge against Hae e and supported her when she needed her. I liked what Dan ji said to Hae e - Hae e should have been the one kicking butts and not the boys. Now even the teachers are gossiping about Hae e's mother and again it's a female teacher!

I totally didn't see that coming - Choi Chi Yeol's confession. It takes immense courage to do that when there's so much at stake, but he did it and that too with no hope of his feelings being reciprocated. I'm gonna replay it a few more times.

His assistant is pissing me off so much - he is so thoughtless and uncaring towards others - I think he'll start viewing Nam Haeng Seon and her family as an obstacle in Choi Chi Yeol's path.

This is so cool!! I like this actor since Hometown Cha Cha Cha. He's probably appearing because this show is by the same director who directed Hometown Cha Cha.

  10. Took me 3 sittings to finish this episode. Tried watching it last night but fell asleep.

Read all your posts here so I figured it must be the same old painstakingly vague conversations, glares, smiles, inconsistent dialogues.

I told myself to keep calm and not get frustrated by this one last episode, because my expectations were very very very low. So, even when she asked him for the umpteenth fkin time: "what if you hadn't hesitated then..." I didn't flinch. Gaslighting the male lead is a new trope in K-drama and I told myself that as a feminist I should embrace it.

    BUT THEN

It happened. Su Yeong ssi made it happen. I was cussing at the screen, one more time!

"We would have probably been married...", She said, "we would probably have a child by now..."

What kind of sadist says these things after ghosting somebody and disappearing for 4 long years?? If you don't have the decency to apologise, at least don't say things that will rekindle those buried emotions in the other person's heart again.

I still don't know if she's supposed to be this unattainable mysterious woman, or someone deeply scarred with attachment issues or a sadist who'd lead you on just for sh!ts & giggles. I have watched many Kdramas and many characters have frustrated me, but never have I hated the female lead so much in any show.

We all have a Sang Su in us, the masochist, that we continued our relationship with this show to the very end. Never have I regretted investing my time in a series so much. Like Su Yeong, this show is a red flag too. Hugs to everyone else here, in solidarity with your suffering.

Now I need a weekend binge of Crash Course in Romance to undo the emotional damage these two last episodes have caused me.

Also Moon ka young always had one murderous stare on her face which I remember mentioning even in episode 2 or 3 which made sy's character look very weird and also the way mky always smiled it made the character look very fake and devious. I think actress' interpretation of character was also not right.

I am totally with you on this. Even I felt Moon Ga Young couldn't do justice to the character. And yes, that smile is so confusing and it's always there. Idk what to make of it. Everything with the show is screwed up, the writing, the direction, the plot - which is missing. So yeah! I guess like us, the actors also just wanted it to end!

  12. This show has become a meme. Every frame is a meme template : the best one is where Su Yeong says: so my father didn't have an affair, my mother did?

    My observations as follows:

    1. Why are the bank employees so horny? Cheating, dating coworkers, snogging at company dinners, being a sleaze to women.

    2. Is Sang Su trying to get the award for the biggest pushover male? He looks pained everytime he's with Mi Kyoung, yet he went to drop her at the airport, because she asked.

    3. Is So Gyeong Pil really trying to fix things now after screwing up so royally!! Sang Su shouldn't even have gone for dinner with him. Gyeong Pil is the biggest loser in this show. Everyone cheated, but he cheated his friend, that's worse. And he is very immature, like Mi Kyoung said.

    4. What kind of parents don't drop off their kids to the airport when they are travelling to another continent and leaving for 3 years??

    5. Su Yeong's mother cheated, not her father, okay so what are we supposed to take away from this information? Unnecessary plot twist for shock value, how does this make it any more palatable.

    6. Su Yeong's mother's boyfriend's wife - was she high on something? Why was she holding an umbrella while inside the house? The director, the assistant directors everyone has lost their marbles while working on this show.

    7. It's clear that Su Yeong has a habit of jumping to conclusions and then clinging to them as the gospel truth. She did the same with her father. At this point, the best thing that can happen with Sang Su is if he hits his head somewhere and loses his memory, and forgets Su Yeong and the losers he called friends.

    8. Ahn Su Yeong, sister, why are you littering the sea?  it's not the KCU bank.

    9. Ha Sang Su has the same phobia of glass floors as I do. :grimace: That was a very relatable moment.

    10. They finally have a date in the 15th episode, yet no sweet moments, just montages of them eating, chewing, walking lol. How'll we even get the YouTube fan edits with this footage??

    11. Dear god, why can't Su Yeong let go of that one moment of hesitation? You rejected him in every possible way, every single time, without any explanation, isn't that enough? Very poorly written dialogues.

    12. Director: how many angles of the bus stop shot do you want?

    Writer: Yessss.

    13. It's bad manners to not take your colleague to your house when he's visiting your town, but I guess it's okay if you just wanna make out with him in an inn.

    14. No preview for next episode. My guess is, they'll meet many years later again, and have soju in some bar while talking in metaphors or riddles, once again. No closure.

The only thing that can make Sang Su happy now is that if he gets into an accident and loses all his memory and forgets if he ever loved Ahn Su Yeong.

I'm thinking of absurdities because I can't see how the show runners will give us or Sang Su closure with 2 episodes left.

  14. I LOVED this episode!

Choi Chi Yeol is the kind who'd go all out when he's in love and he's head over heels. Nam Haeng Sun is admirable - despite everything life has thrown at her, she's forever the optimist, full of life. Choi Chi Yeol's bond with Jae Woo is heartwarming. The way he folds Jae Woo's sleeves while having chicken, shows that this man is ready to take responsibilities too when it comes to the woman he loves. They already look like such a cute family. I also like the girl-girl bonding of Nam Haeng Sun & her friend - her friend was bang on about Choi Chi Yeol's feelings, too bad the pianist showed up right then. Really like the actor who plays the friend, she had a very good performance in Hometown Cha Cha Cha too. tvN shows have the best supporting cast!

Not one dull moment in this show, thanks to all the subplots, like the school students, the mysterious shooter, the annoying mothers. Sun Jae's mother was right about one thing - these mothers have too much time on their hands. Sua A's pathetic father is having an affair, poor girl, an insensitive mother and a cheating father!

Looks like the mothers would call for a kangaroo court in the next episode and evaluate Choi Chi Yeol's crimes. They won't be able to do anything to Choi Chi Yeol since he hasn't committed a crime, but there will be rumours about him & Nam Haeng Sun. I think that is when the killer would turn his attention towards Nam Haeng Sun and make the family his target because obviously he thinks he's protecting Choi Chi Yeol in whatever warped way. I find Sun Jae's mother far more sinister than the other scheming plotting mothers, for whatever reasons. I just hope she doesn't try to harm Hae e and her family.

1 hr really doesn't do justice, I wish there were longer episodes or more than 16 episodes of this show.

I think Nam Haeng Sun will be able to piece together the story this time and figure out that Choi Chi Yeol likes her. I mean that man is throwing broad hints - he bought her building, halved the rent, took her entire family for a lavish date, left a concert midway to watch a 2 hr documentary on Royal Bengal tigers with her family!

I'm in love with this show as I have previously proclaimed numerous times. The woman here is not a pretty young thing but someone older, who has been hardened by life, someone who probably didn't have a chance at love but here she is. And why not! Love shouldn't come with a deadline.

Kdramas with names beginning with the word Crash are a smash hit!

  16. I look forward to this show so much!!

It's really enjoyable, love the story, really like the protagonists and surrounding cast. There's so much to take in, so many interesting subplots that it feels like one hour is not enough.

I guess in the upcoming episodes Choi Chi Yeol's truth about tutoring Hae E will be exposed online and the mothers will do some drama around it. There will also be a jealousy plotline just to make Nam Haeng Sun realise that she too likes Choi Chi Yeol. I'm all for it!

I really feel bad for the student Sua-a, she's suffering from anxiety attacks and her mother is not helping her, she isn't even understanding it. There's a high chance that she too will become like Sun Jae's older brother.

Also, I don't think Sun Jae's brother is the metal ball killer, he's probably chasing the actual killer which is Choi Chi Yeol's assistant. It's unclear why the killer attacked the side dish shop though. Anyhow, anyone who kills cats cannot be a good person. Go to hell, metal ball killer!

She’s the queen of undefined relationships. <_<  She’s never completely on board.  She expects the other party to commit in full but she never really does.  You can’t have it both ways.  If you want the other party to live by a certain set of rules, then you make sure you abide by them too.  Otherwise the rules don’t stand.  She destroys the sand castles she builds.

She is somebody who'll destroy her sand castle, and then on a rainy evening, when she's on the bus, she'll ruminate and wonder 'I could have had him... But then I hurt him too much...'

Su Yeong & Sang Su's storyline has become too distasteful for me, personally. She spread rumours about sleeping with Sang Su's best friend. How does one move on from this? Everyone now thinks she slept with Gyeong Pil. Even if things get resolved and she starts dating Sang Su, it will still forever be weird.

Gyeong Pil doesn't deserve to be friends with Sang Su anymore, Sang Su should completely cut him off imo.

And regarding Jong Hyeon, no matter what he did, he didn't deserve the treatment he got. It's so cowardly, even ghosting is better than breaking up with someone like this. Su Yeong didn't just destroy her sand castle, she set fire to it and let others burn with it.

  18. This show reminds me of my toxic relationship with another JTBC show, Nevertheless.

Why do JTBC shows have such needlessly complicated storylines? Unhinged clueless characters, people who have massive attachment issues and due to them other people suffer, very little explanation is provided behind their actions or intentions and then the ending is rushed - everything falls into place miraculously and the main leads overcome all difficulties (which are excerberated due to their own deficient personalities and lack of communication).

tvN shows give viewers something to root for, something relaxing, JTBC shows only add to my frustration.

Anyway, I didn't want to rant about the story or the characters today, so I thought I'll rant about the channel. Because I'm tired of saying the same things about Su Yeong, Mi Kyoung, Sang Su and now Gyeong Pil is added to that list! The only healthy relationship in this show is between Sang Su & his mother, that's it!

  19. This show is beyond frustrating now!! The writers & director, due to their love for cheap thrills, have really cheapened it now.

We are at the 12th episode and the main leads barely talk to each other. They have zero control over their lives, their actions. At times I feel this is Mi Kyong's show, she gets all the screentime, she has the most dialogues.

And man, why doesn't Su Yeong have any dialogues. She barely opens her mouth. When Mi Kyoung insults her, she bows her head, when Jong Hyeon asks her if she loves him, she looks shocked as if she never expected to be asked this question by her boyfriend. She runs away from Sang Su in an awkward manner. She makes lame excuses to not wear the ring. She is reduced to a secondary character despite being the main lead. It's like she doesn't even tell herself what she wants. In 12 episodes of the show, Sang Su & Su Yeong don't have a single significant conversation besides the kiss, after which also she ran. When they are together they talk in allegories like sand castle or some sad music. All of that is very poetic but when will they discuss their situation, it's high time! Su Yeong also doesn't have a single friend who can give her a different perspective. How's it possible that she doesn't even have a friend?? She is leading on Jong Hyeon for no reason and now he's raving mad. I'm guessing she told him that she slept with Gyeong Pil or something to that effect. Why not just end things amicably instead of endless lies? When you want to break up with someone, you limit social interactions, but that's not Su Yeong. She goes to meet Jong Hyeon's study circle friends. Even there a girl is hitting on him and she remains a spectator. She can't stand up to Mi Kyoung, she can't stand up to some random kid hitting on her so-called boyfriend, it's very disappointing to see Moon Ga Young's talent being wasted on this kind of a character.

Today's episode was probably the worst. I was hoping there'd be some concrete answers, but again there are vague conversations, abrupt cuts, the leads not talking to each other, missing each other's calls, Sang Su once again showing up at Su Yeong's place unannounced and seeing Su Yeong & Jong Hyeon together and feeling sad. Su Yeong for the umpteenth time giving cold shoulder to Sang Su. How many times will we see the same things? I'll not watch the next episode. I'll wait for the reviews here, if you all tell me it's worth watching, only then I'll watch. I'm done with this idiotic show and I absolutely hate heroines who are such pushovers.

  20. Mi Gyeong is acting like a total lunatic lol! Why did she arrange her infamous dinner again if she wants to avoid Sang Su that bad?? And why on earth did Su Yeong go for that dinner, her boyfriend is in love with you, have some brains, please!  Mi Kyong's days of manipulation are over and she can't take that. Also I love how Sang Su's mom politely showed her the door. She didn't even mince her words.

As I had predicted, the married friend is having an affair with his ex. And now Ms Bae & Mr Ma are also having an affair. This bank is hella entertaining. I'd never get any work done if I worked there. :joy:

Gyeong Pil was an absolute winner in this episode. First, he stopped Sang Su from doing an absolute harebrained move like volunteering for the university branch, it would only create more gossip for Ahn Su Yeong. Then, he gave his cheater friend a piece of his mind - someone as clumsy as him shouldn't have an affair - take it from the pro lol. Then he stood up for Su Yeong when the colleague from other branch was being a sexist jerk to her (what is it with men in this bank, how are they so entitled???) And finally, he also talked sense into Sang Su, that the longer he drags his feet, the more the two women he is involved with will get hurt. I guess he feels a little bad for Mi Kyoung considering he had pulled the same move on her.

Sang Su has finally decided to follow his heart and I don't think the fact that Jong Hyeon stays with Su Yeong will deter him. He is anything but petty. However, Su Yeong will need to figure out the living situation sooner or later, if she wants to avoid more gossip. Mi Kyong needs to stop being so desperate, what was she trying to achieve by bringing all four of them together and then needling them with uncomfortable questions?? Next episode seems promising. I really enjoyed this episode. Just wondering what happened to the subplot involving Su Yeong's parents?

Lastly, loved the homage to the Wong Kar-Wai classic, In the Mood for Love, yet another complex romance.

Isnt private tutoring illegal in korea?

I don't think so. I had watched another drama, can't remember for the life of me which one now, where students were lining up to go to these private academies after school like zombies.

I think the person shooting the metal ball is SunJae's weird brother.

Its weird that they do not show anything about the kids that were victims, like the teacher's Stalker .. did she die? Will they talk about the boy that fell at all? I guess we will find out next week.

I concur. Even I think it's Sun Jae's brother. Also, Sun Jae's mother is played by the same actress who played Ku Moon Young's psycho mom and main villain in It's Okay to Not be Okay, so I expect things to get dark with regards to that family. :fear:

  22. WoW! The theme of this drama has become 'cheating' now. Sang Su & Su Yeong are now cheating on their respective significant others, regardless of how unhappy their relationships with their partners are. And emotional infidelity is also infidelity.

Gyeong Pil cheated on Mi Kyoung in the past with several people, he definitely takes the crown for cheaters lol. I've a feeling that the other friend who married for social status has gotten back with his ex and cheating on his wife now. Jong Heyon has his weird dynamic going on with his study buddy. Now only Mi Kyoung is left to emotionally cheat with somebody or otherwise. I don't mind, I've got my popcorn ready. I'm okay with this storyline also, as long as they don't go back to dragging the show with their 'will they won't they' theme. It's been too long.

For the first time ever, I actually felt bad for Mi Kyoung. Imagine being cheated on so horribly once, with all the baggage of insecurity that she has, now her current partner is also low-key cheating. It was difficult to see her getting all anxious, wondering where Sang Su is, if he's with Su Yeong and she wasn't wrong. They actually were together. Su Yeong also figured that she was insecure and she lied to her that she was at the hospital. Mi Kyoung surely has a thing for toxic or anxious attachment. She knows this guy has one foot out of the door, she's still pursuing him. Sang Su is such a pushover, good god! Idk at what point will he stop his superficial relationship with Mi Kyoung and end whatever is going on with her overbearing father. The actor who plays Jong Hyeon needs a new expression, I'm tired of seeing his defeated, dejected face. He should have figured his $h!t out before getting into a relationship. You need the money, so just take it and nurse your bruised male ego on your own! I don't like how Su Yeong keeps her relationship with her mother a secret. Okay, she hates her father but why punish the mother for it. It almost seems like she's ashamed of them.

As for her last question to him at the train station, why does she ask him if she should break up with JH?  That’s like putting the whole weight of her decision on him?  Asking him to bear all the responsibilities of her decisions?  Just like it was all his fault that their relationship failed because he hesitated at the lights.  She never came clean with him at all.  I find her character most frustrating.

Exactly! It was random af. She asked whether she should break up so casually also, as if she's asking whether she should eat ramyeon for dinner. I was quite shocked as the previous episodes show that she's really working for her relationship with Jong Hyeon. They didnt even discuss their own feelings for each other for her to ask this. It went like: Are you happy?

Should I break up with my boyfriend? :joy:

And then they have a wholeass train ride together, then a car ride and they discuss none of it. :expressionless: like where are you even going with this? The writing is so frustrating!

  23. Just got done with Episode 8. Episode 7 was the least liked episode for me where I skipped through most parts. I didn't like the superficial romance of Sang Su & Mi Kyoung or the sympathy that Su Yeong feels for Jong Hyeon that is being passed off as love. However, it is good to see Su Yeong work towards something that she believes in. Episode 7 was a snoozefest for me, but Episode 8 has some development. For instance, it finally shows Mi Kyoung for the person she truly is. Manipulative - despite being a trained figure skater she pretended not to know how to skate, just to lean on Sang Su. She's also clearly competitive, how she bought the painting that Su Yeong liked, and obviously decided to date the guy who likes Su Yeong. I think she's her real self only with her mother. I also didn't like the dinner party she threw for Su Yeong. She is somebody who likes to get her way by being nice or showering the other person with gifts but she has very little regard or respect for that person. I get that Jong Hyeon was too gullible to get her manipulation and Su Yeong just couldn't refuse her, but Sang Su should now understand that she's a fake person. One cannot be with someone solely because she's nice to you. Or maybe he's too overwhelmed by her wealth and her attention. And he's also under the influence of his friend who's marrying somebody for societal status. It will be fun to see Mi Kyoung lose her $h*t when she will see that certain circumstances are beyond her control.

Jong Hyeon's sincerity is something that I have started rooting for. I want him to be successful and give a massive f you to the bank employees and Mr. Yuk. :partyblob:

Su Yeong has finally caught up with her feelings for Sang Su. She also acknowledges that he's a good person, may be a bit too cautious, diplomatic, hesitant at times which comes off as cowardly but now she can see that he too sticks up for her in his own way. Regarding her family, I wonder if besides her father's infidelity, there are other reasons which keeps her away. In the initial episodes I felt that she was running away from the situation of her family and her poverty. Somewhere, does she also feel guilty about it?

It's clear that Mi Kyoung and Sang Su's friend have history. But I don't understand why he won't tell his friend about it. But then how'll the drama progress if there are no secrets.

Speaking of drama, I can't with the clickbaity cliffhangers of this show! Somebody tell the writers we aren't in early 2000s anymore. Again they left us a with a stupid cliffhanger that'll amount to nothing. It's obvious Sang Su went to some other hotel room and Su Yeong is meeting somebody else. There's no way they're meeting in a hotel room to hanky their panky. We will tune in regardless of these scenes. Precap is promising. Some screentime for the leads. Looking forward to Episode 9.

  24. I have a lot to say. Regarding the 5th episode and in general on the show. Trying to arrange my thoughts here.

First of all, Yoo Yeon Seok is brilliant at portraying the intense, slow burn romance that keeps him awake at night, that agonises him everytime he is alone, it's almost like when loving someone becomes muscle memory, his ache for Su Yeong is like the burnt end of a cigarette, over but still keeping hope alive in its dying embers. Moon Ka Young on the other hand seems like she's put on a leash to keep it subdued, low-key, and her real self comes out in moments of happiness, in her toothy smile, in her sparkling eyes.

Coming to the characters, I do not understand the male lead! He wants to put out but not too much, as if to avoid pain or hurting his pride. He doesn't pursue her the way a miserable lover would, almost like he has convinced himself that it's a doomed love story. He makes efforts to communicate but leaves it at the slightest protest or cold shoulder. He's good at his work but he half-asses things when it comes to his love life and Su Yeong is somebody who appreciates efforts, who likes someone reaching out to her when she needs them, that is where the security guard scores bonus points. The time when Su Yeong is left to sort out files in the storeroom, Sang Su goes to her but she denies his help and he leaves, and the next day he actually forgets about her till Mi Kyong reminds the rest of the colleagues, that Su Yeong is probably still sorting out files. I do not like the colleagues, they are too stereotypical, either too RickRoll'D or obnoxious, or too much of a suck up, there is no nuance to their characters and I don't see much scope for it either now that we are already past 5 episodes.

The show tries to show some female camaraderie but then female friendship comes on the pretext of material things. Mi Kyoung taking Su Yeong to fancy places, gifting her things she could never afford, Mi Kyong seems too superficial and materialistic despite her efforts or the director's efforts to show her as an empath. Even her mother gifts expensive gifts to Sang Su's mother when she finds a chingu in her. Being obscenely rich cannot be considered a personality trait! I'd much rather prefer the other ladies in the bank get together and take on the management and general misogyny at workplace.

Why am I still watching this: I have a thing for intense, slow burn romances, I guess that's why I'm sticking around. I want to be a part of the build up, the climax, the conclusion. And I hope the writers do justice to it instead of peppering the show with clickbaity scenes like the one in the storeroom shot in sepia filter, where the ml & fl get trapped, only to have an inconclusive almost repetitive conversation.

I totally agree! I couldn't read all the texts either. The entire thing feels like such a violation of his rights. I'm planning to rewatch HomeCha- which I honestly think is one of the best kdramas i have ever seen. I hope this all ends now and we don't have to keep getting he said/ she said updates from 'news' sites who are desperate for clicks. Everybody understands that it was a toxic relationship and that he wasn't the evil abuser/manipulator that the original post would have you believe, so lets all move on.

Exactly! Those messages are so private, I felt like an eavesdropper reading the initial ones. If my messages were out there for public consumption, I'd need therapy for years. I just don't understand people who send screenshots of their loved one's messages to groups and other people. Even I've bitched about my boyfriend/husband to my friends when I was angry but I'd never sent screenshots saying 'look what an ******** he is'. That's a massive violation of privacy, of trust.

And those messages that ksh sent were sweet, intimate. What was she doing sending screenshots of those texts? The day I reach the stage where I'm outing my spouse's texts to me screenshotting them is the day all my love is over and I'd gladly say bye to that person rather than prolonging a toxic relationship. To tell you all the truth, till this day I still had some sympathies left for A, as a woman, I thought she was badly hurt and hence acted with vengeance, which of course is bad too. But today when I saw how she had no respect even for his privacy, I really feel terrible for him. He was nothing but sweet, freaking out yet supporting her all along. It was a normal conversation between a normal couple. To take those and to broadcast it to all her friends without his knowledge and then twist them to suit a very different narrative and post them on social media is a despicable thing to do. I really wonder how is she going to live with this now. She destroyed him but she got destroyed too.  I just feel so sad for both of them and I have never been invested in a celebrity's life before but it all seems so unfair and totally avoidable. And this is also a severe blow to all the actual victims out there. Next time a real victim speaks up against a powerful person, nobody's gonna believe them, victims anyway get very little support and then the perpetrators will get away citing this incident.
