SBS’s “The King: Eternal Monarch” has shared new stills of Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, and Lee Jung Jin!

“The King: Eternal Monarch” tells the story of parallel universes, one in which Korea is a constitutional monarchy and one in which Korea is a modern-day republic. Lee Min Ho stars as Emperor Lee Gon, and Kim Go Eun stars as Detective Jung Tae Eul in the “regular” world and a mysterious criminal named Luna in Lee Gon’s universe. Lee Jung Jin portrays Lee Rim, Lee Gon’s evil uncle.

    Spoiler

In the previous episode, Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul were suffering due to Lee Rim’s misdeeds. Lee Rim, who became furious at Lee Gon for ruining his plans to make a memorable revival, went as far as killing Lee Gon’s close aide Lee Jong In (Jun Moo Song). Furthermore, Jung Tae Eul was in agony after realizing the reality that she could only be with Lee Gon forever if she gave up her life in Korea.

In the latest stills, Lee Gon wears a military uniform as he prepares a meal for Jung Tae Eul. In one photo, he is washing rice, and she watches him in surprise. Lee Gon sets the table with a simple yet delicious meal for her, and he watches her with adoration as she enjoys his thoughtful gift. He chats non-stop with her, and she replies back in blunt but loving ways. Will their sweet romance be able to continue with all the chaos about to happen?

    Spoiler

    lee-min-ho-kim-go-eun-21.jpg

Contrary to the romantic first set of stills, the second set of stills show trouble brewing.

Lee Rim, who found out about Luna’s existence in the last episode, abducts her and binds her with ropes so that she can’t run away. Luna glares murderously at him, while Lee Rim gazes down at her with fascination over her looking extremely identical to Jung Tae Eul. Questions are mounting over why Lee Rim kidnapped Luna, and whether the two will join forces to become a new team of villains.

    Spoiler

The production company Hwa and Dam Pictures asked viewers to look forward to both Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul’s sweet romance and Lee Rim and Luna’s tense clash.

Episode 11 of “The King: Eternal Monarch” will air on May 22 at 10 p.m. KST.

  4. Lee Min Ho And Lee Jung Jin Reunite For Dramatic Confrontation In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

Lee Min Ho And Lee Jung Jin Reunite For Dramatic Confrontation In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

    May 15, 2020

Lee Min Ho and Lee Jung Jin will face off in a dramatic reunion in SBS’s “The King: Eternal Monarch”!

“The King: Eternal Monarch” tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and democracy respectively, but work together to try and save peoples’ lives.

    Spoiler

In the previous episode, Lee Gon realized that Lee Rim (Lee Jung Jin), who killed Lee Gon’s father Emperor Lee Ho (Kwon Yool) and took the other half of the legendary flute of the Silla Dynasty (manpashikjeok), is still alive and able to stop time when he travels to the alternate universe like Lee Gon. However, unlike Lee Rim, who can tell which universe Lee Gon is in thanks to the imperial spy, Lee Gon unfortunately cannot know which world Lee Rim has gone to.

The newly released stills capture Lee Gon and Lee Rim in the moments before a dramatic confrontation amidst a large crowd, creating a chilling atmosphere. Lee Gon looks on with his cold gaze while Lee Rim, who is not shaken by Lee Gon’s energy, faces him with as much charisma and power. Will Lee Rim be able to recognize Lee Gon 25 years after the night of treason?

    lee-min-ho-lee-jung-jin.jpg

The confrontation scene was filmed in April at Haeundae District in Busan. Even after props were being set up to represent the Korean Empire late into the night, a large crowd of people formed to watch the filming. Lee Min Ho and Lee Jung Jin put their heart and souls into their acting for the dramatic scene as their newly formed audience cheered. The crowd and staff applauded as the actors successfully wrapped up their scene.

The production team commented, “We captured Lee Min Ho and Lee Jung Jin’s heart-stopping charisma battle through a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Please stay tuned to see how Lee Gon and Lee Rim, who both hold one half of the legendary flute and travel through time, will approach each other, and what will become of them.”

“The King: Eternal Monarch” airs Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. KST.

  6. 3 Memorable Lines That Show Lee Min Ho’s Charisma, Leadership, And Romantic Side In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

3 Memorable Lines That Show Lee Min Ho’s Charisma, Leadership, And Romantic Side In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

Lee Min Ho is the perfect king in SBS’s “The King: Eternal Monarch”!

“The King: Eternal Monarch” tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and democracy respectively, but they work together to try and save peoples’ lives.

    Spoilers

Below are three moments when Lee Min Ho made viewers’ hearts flutter with his memorable lines:

    1. Charisma: “From now on, I’m the only one who worries about myself. What you must protect is not me, but this sea.”

Lee Gon, the commander-in-chief of the Korean Empire’s armed forces, showed an unwavering attitude towards Japan, which has continued to provoke the Korean Empire’s territorial waters. Lee Gon said, “If countries are honest with each other, there will be a war. If Japan is this honest, we should be honest…that we’re not just going to stand by. You know I finished my military service as a captain of the Navy. Japan can’t enter our territorial waters, not even by a centimeter or a millimeter.”

Moreover, when people became worried about his safety in a situation where war was imminent with Japan, Lee Gon commanded, “From now on, I’m the only one who worries about myself. What you must protect is not me, but this sea.”

    lee-min-ho-1.jpg

    2. Leadership: “The imperial family wears military uniforms at the most honorable moments. It means that we’re going to win.”

Lee Gon is the type of king who takes the initiative to show his leadership. Prime Minister Goo Seo Ryung (Jung Eun Chae) disclosed the fact that Lee Gon had been voluntarily paying taxes since last year and used it as a shield to withdraw the plan to raise salaries for all members of the Cabinet and the House of Representatives.

In addition, when Japan launched a provocation into the territorial waters of the Korean Empire, Lee Gon took the lead in his naval uniform. At the sight of Jung Tae Eul’s worried expression, he stated, “The imperial family wears military uniforms at the most honorable moments. It means that we’re going to win.”

    lee-min-ho-21.jpg

    3. Romantic side: “I thought it was a name that wasn’t meant to be said, but it was meant to only be said by you.”

Not only is Lee Gon a charismatic leader, but he’s also a sweet romantic to the woman he loves. Lee Gon, who brought Jung Tae Eul to his own world, showed his special affection for her by cooking a warm meal for her and expressing gratitude with a light “head thump.”

With the threat of war between the Korean Empire and Japan, Lee Gon sent Jung Tae Eul back to the Republic of Korea with the promise to come back as a winner. With a heavy heart, Jung Tae Eul said, “See you again, Lee Gon,” and Lee Gon responded with, “I thought it was a name that wasn’t meant to be said, but it was meant to only be said by you.”

    Spoiler

    lee-min-ho-3.jpg

Production company Hwa and Dam Pictures shared, “The combination of Lee Min Ho’s passionate acting and Kim Eun Sook’s lines is creating the perfect monarch of the Korean Empire in a fantasy romance.” They added that more unexpected events will happen in the upcoming episode airing on May 8.

“The King: Eternal Monarch” airs Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. KST.

  7. 3 Reasons Lee Min Ho + Kim Go Eun’s Relationship Will Change In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

3 Reasons Lee Min Ho + Kim Go Eun’s Relationship Will Change In “The King: Eternal Monarch”

    May 1, 2020

Get ready for romance to blossom on SBS’s “The King: Eternal Monarch” this week!

On the latest episode of the fantasy drama, Emperor Lee Gon (played by Lee Min Ho) persuaded detective Jung Tae Eul (played by Kim Go Eun) to leave the Republic of Korea to travel with him to his parallel universe, where he rules the Korean Empire as a monarch.

As the two characters arrive in this alternate universe, here are three ways in which their relationship will begin to change and evolve:

    1. Jung Tae Eul staying in Lee Gon’s palace

    Spoiler

    Lee-Min-Ho-Kim-Go-Eun6.jpgLee-Min-Ho10.jpgKim-Go-Eun9.jpg

After traveling to Lee Gon’s palace in the Korean Empire, Jung Tae Eul will be able to verify firsthand that he was telling the truth about being an emperor. Additionally, she will have a chance to see a different side of the character—in his palace, as a powerful ruler, Lee Gon will exude a regal charisma that he didn’t have back in the Republic of Korea.

    2. Lee Gon turning the tables

    Spoiler

    Lee-Min-Ho-25.jpgKim-Go-Eun-24.jpgKim-Go-Eun-31.jpg

During Lee Gon’s time in the Republic of Korea, he complained that Jung Tae Eul left him alone to fend for himself, despite the fact that she was the only person he knew in that universe. Now, when their situations are reversed and Jung Tae Eul finds herself a stranger in a foreign universe, Lee Gon chooses not to subject her to the same loneliness.

After warmly declaring, “I won’t leave you alone, so that you don’t feel frightened,” the emperor will show off his gentle, considerate nature by keeping Jung Tae Eul company at all times and proving the sincerity of his feelings for her.

    3. Jung Tae Eul teasing Lee Gon about his love life

    Spoiler

    Lee-Min-Ho-32.jpgKim-Go-Eun-41.jpg

Once she finally realizes that Lee Gon was telling the truth about himself, Jung Tae Eul begins to truly get to know the emperor in earnest. She also playfully inquires about his past romantic experience—or lack thereof—by asking, “You’ve never dated before, have you?”

The drama’s producers commented, “The fifth and sixth episodes of ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’ will focus on the story of Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul, who have arrived in the Korean Empire. Please look forward to the fantasy romance of the Lee-Eul couple, who will be upping the intensity of their battle for love.”

The next episode of “The King: Eternal Monarch” will air on May 1 at 10 p.m. KST.

SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” has shared new stills of Kim Go Eun and Lee Min Ho closer than ever before.

“The King: Eternal Monarch” tells the story of Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) and detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun), who live in parallel universes where Korea is a constitutional monarchy and democracy respectively, but work together to try and save peoples lives.

The new stills show Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul in close proximity to each other in a bamboo forest. While Lee Gon looks at Jung Tae Eul with a small smile and intent in his eyes, Jung Tae Eul seems to be more taken aback by the interaction. The scene is enough to make viewers’ hearts race as it may be signaling the start of a fateful romance between the two.

    Kim-Go-Eun-Lee-Min-Ho-22.jpg

The scene was filmed in a bamboo forest in Busan in March and Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun are said to have thoroughly looked over their scripts together in order to ensure that they created the perfect scene. Despite the difficulty of having to portray Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul’s emotions with nothing but their expressions and gazes, the two pulled it off and brought romance to the set.

Production company Hwa & Dam Pictures stated, “Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun are hardworking actors who are always discussing ways to improve their characters. The upcoming episode is set to signal the start of Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul’s romance, so please anticipate it.”

The next episode of “The King: Eternal Monarch” is set to air at 10 p.m. KST on April 25.

SBS’s new drama “The King: Eternal Monarch” has shared a sneak peek of Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun on a fun date!

    Spoiler

    Spoiler

On the previous episode of “The King: Eternal Monarch,” Emperor Lee Gon (played by Lee Min Ho) struggled to convince Jung Tae Eul (played by Kim Go Eun) that he was truly an emperor from a parallel universe. Despite his failure to convince her of his true identity, Lee Gon boldly declared at the end of the episode that he intended to make her his empress.

In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming episode, Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul get to know each other better over a delicious meal of fried chicken. While Jung Tae Eul looks pleased to be introducing Lee Gon to so-maek (a Korean cocktail of soju mixed with beer), Lee Gon mainly seems pleased to be spending time with Jung Tae Eul, and he is unable to take his eyes off her throughout their date.

Although surprised and amused by Jung Tae Eul’s masterful so-maek mixing abilities, Lee Gon is wary of actually trying the drink, which he has never seen before.

    Kim-Go-Eun5.jpg

According to those present during filming, Lee Min Ho—who is known for not being much of a drinker in real life—couldn’t help bursting into laughter after seeing how serious Kim Go Eun looked while mixing the so-maek.

The producers of “The King: Eternal Monarch” commented, “Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun are romance masters who know exactly how to make viewers’ hearts flutter. Please tune in this week to find out how Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul’s relationship changes after Lee Gon’s sudden proposal.”
