  1. hello @Lawyerh !

Based on what I know from the webtoon, yes it's KG. but still we can't tell if they will change it on the drama. I will not tell more about Prof Jung for now, but for sure everything will make sense once his real reincarnation is revealed. ^_^

yes MCW even pointed that out about SJH. She said that he's so young, but he looks matured because he is tall, he is even taller than YHM.

  2. So far, as of episode 6, I think the drama is still sticking on the webtoon and I'm excited that more interesting scenes will surely happen in the next episodes!

As for the 'who's the husband' game ... ** spoiler warning! PLEASE don't dare open this if you don't want to be spoiled. I warned you guys! **

In the webtoon, Prof Jung is really the male lead. On the webtoon character list order, he follows Ok Nam, then followed by Kim Geum...

...But does that mean because he's the first male lead, Proj Jung is the husband? No. It's actually Kim Geum. The woodcutter initially appeared as YHM because we are looking at Ok Nam's POV here because she believes he's her husband. But don't forget, she pointed out that she really can't remember the real face of her husband. She's basically leaning on what she initially witnessed, and sadly, turning a blind eye on everything about Geum. :tears:

I really like how the webtoon writer broke the ordinary, because finally... it's a story that the second lead should get the girl! I just hope they will not change it in the drama, because webtoon fans really loved this twist! ^_^

For the age difference of SJH and MCW, I hope we don't dwell much in that while watching the drama. Because technically, Sun Ok Nam in the drama is 699 years old, she's really way way way older than everyone else! hahaha. And Kim Geum is just right a few years younger than Prof Jung because he was his student. Kim Geum is really the youngest among them. :)

@hanamee, i think your comment is the reverse.  If you see the netizens comment

Acc to knetz /viewers, there are three minus point of the 1st eps of #TaleofGyeryongFairy
    - Different from the original webtoon from character setting to lines
    - CG effects (the most serious)
    - Awkward smile of the actor (Yoon Hyun Min) in the comic scenes

they complaint about YHM, only who knows/read the webtoon well.  they are comparing to his character to the one from the webtoon.
But for me, i found no problems with his portrayal of his character as i did not read the webtoon.  In fact i was surprised when i saw all those netizens comments on YHM.  Hope there is no backlash in the ratings becoz of these comments and be more popular as its former drama.  Hwaiting!!!!
Can somebody confirm if there is no DC Gallery for this drama?  I have been searching so bad, but cannot find it.
Also were there any ratings promise by the main cast yesterday on V-live?   if there was one, what was it?
Edit:  GDS nim was fantastic.  Thats why she is  a veteran, isnt it?  The transition between her scenes to MCW was also done nicely.  No hiccups, so far.

Thanks for pointing that out chingu! What I meant is, the people who knows the webtoon might "tolerate" his portrayal even tho they have issues with it, because they know the story. But yes they are also complaining about the difference of his portrayal to the webtoon.

Good to know if you find him okay chingu, I'm worried to those who finds him annoying. Let's hope they will continue to watch the show because it's really interesting! ^_^

  4. Exactly chingu @Wotad! I hope they give chance for the story to unfold in the next episodes.

I think knowing and not knowing the webtoon both has an advantage and disadvantage for this drama. Someone who knows the webtoon will understand Yihyun's character and might tolerate his portrayal, but will be very observant even on the little details for accuracy.

But for someone who doesn't know the webtoon, I can totally see them complaining on Yihyun's character right away like "what kind of male lead is this, how am I suppose to ship this with our fairy??", but they will appreciate the cinematography without thinking if it's accurate or not.

I think it's too early to judge the drama in their first episode alone. So I'm getting my hopes up that everything will be done and explained smoothly in the next episodes. :)

I was already expecting netizens not to love the drama completely, tbh...

The webtoon story is amazing, yet too difficult to adapt, too many special effects needed, too many characters for little time, and most importantly it's a well loved and recent webtoon, like...... I have seen too many netizens calling it a masterpiece.

I think what made things even more awkward was all the (bad) cgs used, and looks like they didn't like Hyunmin's portrayal of Yihyun, who is a more calm type of character.

It seems like they went for a whole comical sitcom-y drama vibe, which is different from the webtoon.

I still have to watch the whole episode later, although I already saw clips on Instagram and I have to agree on YHM's portrayal. His acting was kind of too comical to the point that he is exaggerating his expressions instead of just letting the comedic vibe to naturally flow. My understanding of Yihyun in the webtoon appears to be easily-irritated, snob, and mean, but he is still calm and reserved.

SJH on the other hand I think is very loveable. His portrayal of Kim Geum is so adorable to watch. As a viewer, I already felt how kind-hearted his character is. I can see more viewers will be effortlessly rooting for him that Yihyun on this. Although I understand why people are noticing YHM more, because basically he is the male lead. I just hope those people who were upset of YHM's portrayal will stay a little more, because his character has a good backstory. And if they will follow THAT major twist in the webtoon, I think episode 1 is still on the right track :)

Han So Hee did a recent interview and shared her thoughts about the Crown Princess. But since I can't understand Korean, can you help us understand this article chingu @stroppyse?

It seemed interesting because I tried translating some parts and it says that it's only her and Kim Jae Young who knew that the baby daddy is Moo Yeon. The other cast are curious about it too but they kept it a secret until it was revealed in the filming. ^_^

No time left for extra babies I think...one's quite enough.  They need to take KCE down and fix all the convoluted Palace shenanigans and give our OTP their happy ever after :). Legitimate babies can come after that.

Agree!  We'd all love a baby wonshim/yoolseo after everything is fixed and settled. I'm looking forward to a proper marriage version 2.0 too, and that should come before baby wonshim/yoolseo. :D

One is enough indeed. Although even the CPss baby was created "ilegally" (), I'm just relieved that the kid is conceived out of CPss & MY's love, and not because it's originally part of KCE's plan. I would feel sorry for the baby if he/she was created only to be used as another pawn. One reason why I wish CPss & MY should survive and could just be exiled as their punishment, I don't like the innocent child to be an orphan in the end. (after all, the "parents are killed then the child will be raised by someone else" plot is kind of a cliche already so i hope they try to stay away from that) I also hope it will not be miscarried. it's funny if they made the whole 'baby daddy' a big buzz all throughout the drama then the baby will just be gone in the end.

The only character I wish to be gone in the end is KCE. He's the only true evil in this drama. <_<

So it looks like the "special episode" sounds more like an epilogue rather than a behind-the-scenes type thing? Does anyone know more info about this? I'm confused how everyone's phrasing it, 2 episodes left, 1 episode left...

Same here, I'm kinda confused with the 'special episode', but I think it's like 'Descendants of the Sun'. DOTS has 16 eps + 3 special episodes with total of 19eps. So I assume it's another whole episode that continues the story or just like what you said, probably more like an epilogue. I dont get why they still have to call it 'special' tho. Hello chingus, enlighten us please!

  9. I agree that Mr. Dimples wasn't utilized properly. Sad but true.

To be honest, the only scene where I felt Mr. Dimples is the second male lead is when he accompanied Hongshim in the bridge and they made a wish so Hongshim can see her brother soon. I find him charming and really nice in that scene.

But after that, I was like "Did Tvn just played on us, made us think Mr. Dimples is the second male lead, but it's actually Moo Yeon after all??" :D

  10. Hi chingu @nrllee, I just watched the episode and I think the baby daddy is really Moo Yeon. There is a very huge clue that they dropped in this episode which I guess most of us just ignored. I did too, until my crazy chingu who loves noticing details pointed this out to me. This is her tweet:

So they have this dandelion thing all along, meaning Moo Yeon and the crown princess are secretly in love with each other for real.

As for the baby daddy, when Moo Yeon met the princess, he said that he wants to confirm why she ordered Beom to shoot him, then the princess said... "Is that the only thing you want to confirm?" Moo Yeon replied, "No." (then the scene fades out) I think Moo Yeon just realized that he might really be the father, and that's the other thing he wants to confirm to the princess!

I'm now 99% sure it's Moo Yeon, but I'm leaving the remaining 1% to the princess if she confirms it tonight.

  11. Hi chingu @celebrianna, I do understand your point about the crown princess. You were right that she did so many selfish and unforgiveable decisions. I wont dismiss any of it because I even felt that disgust on her especially in the first episodes. But after knowing a few things about her past, like how her father treats her as a pawn and give commands on what she must do, i felt that her actions are results of being trapped between wanting to go against her father or pleasing him. she likes to keep her family's power, but at the same time she wants to be free.

I'm actually looking at two points about her pregnancy. If mooyeon is the baby daddy and she concieved it out of love, it's a possible longterm plot that she might want to go against her father soon because she has chosen her heart over her responsibility regardless of the punishment she will face. (maybe mooyeon didn't thought about it being his child because in the first place, they announced that it's leeyool's), but if the baby daddy is seowon or some other guy, she could've done it for her father's goal which unfortunately failed because leeyool didn't agree to sleep with her. Hence, she said she'll just kill herself or kill Lee yool to clean the mess she's done. She is obviously a distorted and flawed character who also seeks for love.

Her scene with mooyeon where she said she'd be happy to live in a small house away from the palace was a turning point for me that she's not completely bad and power greedy like her father. When VP told her to tell Leeyool that he's the father of her child, they showed that she's worried, feeling guilty, and initially not up for it, but then her father holds her in the neck and must follow his order no matter what.

The crown princess is such a complex character which got my extra attention and curiousity especially after episode 8. Her decisions are so uncertain as if she's figuring out who will love her and stay by her side among the people she cares for. I think she feels so unloved and hopeless that she doesn't know who she'll turn to. That's why I want to give her another chance, I want her to be free and redeemed. I'd agree to have her exiled and start a new simple life away from the palace. :)

  12. That hint of a happy ending for wonshim is so cute!!  To be honest, I am actually not worried that much for our main couple. they maybe facing struggles right now but I dont think it will end tragically for them. the drama's genre is a romcom sageuk, and the feels of their promo materials are bright, fun and happy despite of the surprisingly complex plot. it will be misleading if we will all cry in the end because it's unexpectedly a tragic ending, right? :D I'm just excited to see how they will reunite, and how things will unfold and be resolved in the end.

I'm more worried now about the secondary & supporting characters. Like what will happen to MooYeon, Crown Princess, Jeyoon, Prince Seowon, etc. Good or bad, we can't really guarantee what would happen to them in the last 4 eps.

@celebrianna didn’t she try to kill him? Crown Princess confuses me, when he left she tried to run to him but MY hunch man said she tried to kill him. I am so confused smh smh

hi @UnniSarah! ^_^ I know the question isn't addressed to me, but I just want to share what I understand about the Crown Princess' order to shoot Moo Yeon...

She doesn't want Moo Yeon to leave the palace (I think she knows that once MY leaves he will not come back for good), that's why she ordered Beom, the other assassin, to take action and prevent him from leaving. When Beom revealed this to VP, he said he was only aiming for his arm (just to hurt him, not kill him), but unfortunately the arrow accidentally trained off and went close to the chest which made Moo Yeon unconscious. We can recall that the crown princess was so anxious and worried because MY isn't awake yet. He wasn't supposed to be in critical condition, she didn't expect that. Hence, she didn't really tried to kill Moo Yeon, more like only preventing him to leave. It's just unfortunate that the circumstance made it worse.

  14. I would flip if it turns out that the baby daddy isn't one of the three candidates! haha. we've waited long enough and I think we need a worthy flashback and explanation.

Aside from the story of YoolShim couple, the crown princess' pregnancy was the next big thing that created a buzz and still remains unanswered until now. Among the 3 candidates, I think it's still likely that it's Moo Yeon. I didnt remember Minister Jung having a suspicious interaction with the crown princess, and I agree that if it's Seowon, he should be more agressive to approach and protect the princess, but he's shy and obviously just have a huge crush/secret love for her.

Although I understand that Moo Yeon's love/special connection to the princess seemed too pure, which is also my concern ever since I started shipping them. It seemed that they love each other deeply, and Moo Yeon has this huge respect towards the princess that it's very unlikely for him to sleep with her.

Unless, there is a certain circumstance that made them do it. I dont know, maybe one of them was emotionally burdened that they only had each other for comfort, and everything was not planned. There can be other possibilities of what really happened, I just hope they defend it with a good explanation if Moo Yeon is really the baby daddy, because they've already established this tragically beautiful & longing connection between him and the princess to the viewers.

Also, Moo Yeon being the baby daddy will have the higher chance for them to be spared from punishment given Moo Yeon's relation to Hong Shim. (if they will both survive tho, coz I also have a feeling one of them might not. MY's wound still bothers me. lol.) I could see So Hye being deposed/stepping down as crown princess then Hong Shim will replace her. Of course as the new crown princess (or queen), I dont think Hong Shim will let her brother's child be an orphan. She will surely seek for Lee Yool's help on this.

Again, that's if everything will happen this way, then we can have a larger dose of happy ending aside from our YoolShim couple. If I'm the writer, I dont think killing MooYeon or So Hye for the unforgiveable acts they've done is the best option, I would've at least wanted to see some sort of redemption for these characters in the end. Moo Yeon and So Hye could totally live a simple happy life with their child away from Hanyang, while Yool and HongShim reigns as the new leaders of the land. Imagine from a solution agency couple who helps songjoo village to being the crown prince/princess who can definitely lead and help the whole land. Yeah I'd like this to be the happy ending.

But then again I'm not the writer, so all of these will remain as theories and wishful thoughts while waiting for the remaining episodes.

  15. This is my first time to post on this thread, but I have been a happy lurker since the drama aired. I didn't expect this drama would be so good! I thought it will just be a fun and light drama filled with Kyungsoo's charm and Jihyun's bright presence, but no, it's more than that. Aside from the great turn out of events for Lee Yool/Wondeuk and Hong Shim, the side stories are very interesting as well! ^_^

For instance I never thought I'd be rooting for the Crown Princess' story. Honestly she's kinda annoying in the earlier episodes. lol. But as the story unfolds, obviously she's also just someone trapped from her father's selfish acts & goals and was just forced to join her father's game, while in fact she just wants to live a normal life away from the madness of royal politics.

I think her scenes with Moo Yeon are very meaningful. At some point, I have this feeling that it's only with Moo Yeon whom she can put down her cold walls and show her vulnerability. I felt that in their short scene before Moo Yeon got shot by an arrow (I dont know if it's just the strong chemistry between KJY and HSH or it's really part of the script, but I think it's both). As for So Hye's baby daddy, regardless of who he is, I believe there's something special between Moo Yeon and So Hye that is not present in the other baby daddy candidates.

I don't know but I'm such a fan of these kind of stories. It's complicatedly beautiful that you'll be praying for a happy ending for these flawed and lonely characters. I can't wait to see more of So Hye and Moo Yeon in the later episodes and how this crazy character entanglements would affect our main Yool/WonShim couple.

  16. @Jillia @LyraYoo If my memory and understanding of the webtoon serves me right, I guess the egg is:

the reincarnation of Ok Nam's son that will eventually hatch into a dragon. lol. so yeah, that is a very interesting family picture poster we got right there.

The new stills are lovely! The difference of Jihyun and Kim Geum are pretty evident in those stills, and Ok Nam is such a goddess as always

  17. The teaser is too cute I can watch it all day! Mina and Chaewonnie's voice are music to my ears.

Just a random thought after seeing the teaser, maybe it's possible that at some point the story is being narrated by Mina's character (since Jeom Soon is also a writer/storyteller in the story).

Then its english title "Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter" will make sense. lol. :D

Anyway, everything is getting real now and we're down to less than a month of waiting! B)

  19. Yes @Jillia! I think they are hitting 3 major scenes in that location :)

I think aside from the first time the woodcutter saw Ok Nam, they are also filming the present day bath scene in which she was seen by Yi Hyun and Kim Geum, and based from the link shared by chingu @hazelyeot, Yi-Hyun's friend was also there... and I guess that's when they came back to that place and discovered who her real husband is. That is if they are going to follow the webtoon.. which I think they should. :D
