Okay, so I lied about the Valentine's Day thing. I've never been a big fan of Valentine's Day anyway, so I guess it seems fitting that I'd end up posting today instead. Olympics + good writing assignments + rustiness + laziness does not equal a fast posting time. Chapter 2 is ready now, though; you can read it on FFN and AO3. I hope y'all like it.

I write best when I'm facing a deadline, so I'll go ahead and say that I plan on posting the next chapter of "Awakening" on Valentine's Day so that I'll actually get off of--or sit down on, in this case--my lazy butt and actually write the thing. Just to whet your appetites, here are the opening two paragraphs:
SpoilerXing’er stared down at the comatose figure lying in the bed before her, mixed feelings coursing through her as the shadows from the candlelight played over the face of the elder Yuwen. On the one hand, she was awed at the level of trust that Yuwen Yue had displayed in her by bringing her to this place; on the other…
The wooden bead that she always carried with her felt as heavy as lead in its small pocket within her robe as if the secrets contained therein were physically weighing her down. While the paper inside the bead itself didn’t contain anything too controversial or damning, the secrets that bead implied could ruin everything that Xing’er had worked so hard to build at Qing Shan Yuan. The fact that she was even contemplating telling Yuwen Yue the truth as she knew it verified another inconvenient truth that she’d come to understand over the past few months: She was in love with Yuwen Yue, and he was likely in love with her as well.

I just got back from the doctor and they diagnosed me with the flu plus a sinus infection, so there will definitely not be a chapter this week. This is just as well since y'all really wouldn't want to read anything my addled mind would come up with today.

I'm going to have to take a break, anyway; my body's pushed the issue for me. I've come down with a nasty cold, and the weekend is my big writing time, so I probably shouldn't write much with my head this stuffy. (On the other hand, I've written some pretty good stuff while high on medicine, so maybe I'll give it a try anyway--especially if doing so can take my mind off of reality for a bit.) I guess you could say I'm sick in the head, but everyone already knew that anyway

I decided to post early this week because
there's no way I'm going to proofread this monstrosity again tomorrowI'm feeling a generous burst of holiday spirit. Here's Chapter 15 on FFN and AO3. It's long, but they're all going to be long from here on out as I try to close this one out before Christmas.As an aside, I've enjoyed reading the conversation on here, but "Different Path" and other pursuits have pretty much drained me dry writing-wise. I'll probably make some random late-night post one of these days rambling on about the ending, Chu Qiao's character, and XingYue, but for now, I have to work on finishing this monstrosity of a story. (And plotting the next one, of course.)
