    Looking forward to speak directly with Mr. Kim Soo-hyun, I was wondering about the points during that time.^^

     

    Q. 'My Love from the Stars' was a Korean drama which became incredibly popular in all Asia including China. It also recently aired on national television in Argentina. Now as an actor representing Korea. I wonder if there is any little bit of sense of duty or pressure.

    "I think because we worked hard together every minute that 'My Love from the Stars' received so much love from the people and viewers. I'm always worried about the future appearance, to be seen as multifaceted actor, not only would I like to express a given role, but also try to figure out the nuances. We hope to show the best look."

    Q. As I know, Alibaba Pictures is the distributor and Paradise Group is investing in the movie 'Real' that you are shooting now. What kind of movie actor is 'Kim Soo-hyun'?

    "The movie 'Real' seems to me as a new challenge. It also appears that many people have expressed their concern about the character, because I would show a different character than I have ever played, which is rough and looked down  upon as a bad man. As an actor, I find many sides for a new character, I look forward to how the finished movie looks after this shoot."

    Q. You have also briefly participated in a few plays and musicals, I was thinking and wondered what is more his style? Have you thought of challenging a play or musical in the future?

    "I think choosing between plays and musicals is difficult for me, because each of them is very exciting field for me(laughs). If a good opportunity came, I will want to try that challenge, properly prepared as always."

    Q. Last year, I came to know even the elder Chinese people were in love with this Hallyu star through broadcasts, activities, advertising and photo-shoots. What is the secret of Kim Soo-hyun's popularity in China?

    "(Laughs) Maybe I would like to repeat the good work and encounter such a character, I would like to give my best performance for that character, it seems to give a good look to his appearance. Thank you!"

    Q. How would you like to be remembered by the Chinese people in the future?

    "Well, I want to be remembered as an actor who takes challenges. I would try a variety of challenges while broadening my area of experience and I think, as someone desiring to discover a new self. For being recognized for those challenges, to only give a better work to these people."

    Meet Korean star, Mr. Kim Soo-hyun! Kim Soo-hyun interview.

    It will be 10 years since his debut next year. The young actor is best expressed as pure and hot, warm and cold, soft and rough in appearance where multiplicity coexist. This time he was selected as ambassador for Paradise casino and resort complex, Paradise City which opens in the first half of the next year. Let us meet the face of Paradise, the leading star of hot Hallyu, Korean wave, Kim Soo-hyun. ^^

    He stars in a new movie 'Real'. A reporter comes to find about the events happening around the underworld troubleshooter in a noir-action thriller. Kim Soo-hyun plays Jang Tae-young, a man with ruthless ambition who wants to own a casino and solves 'problems' without remorse. The thriller-genre film started shooting in January, filming substantial portion at Paradise City at Yong Jong-do, Incheon, over a long period in secret.

    He can definitely escape the image of a pin-up star through this movie. Shortly after his debut, starring in the drama, 'Will it snow for Christmas', his performance initially made him feel unsatisfied and angry  at himself enough to feel distressed with tears. 'That night, I would go through the scene over and over again. Oddly enough, it was very satisfactory. Going through and getting to know the process made performing really good.'

    After an impressive performance in the drama 'Moon embraces the Sun', he won the Best Actor in Baeksang awards in 2012. The Best Drama that year was also 'Moon embraces the Sun'. This award was also presented to the producer of the drama who praised Kim Soo-hyun, as young actors competed for the foremost honour.

    The 2012 role as Lee Hwon in 'Moon embraces the Sun' made him a real star. Kim Soo-hyun emerged as 'the most solid skilled' of the two rookie actors who were rivals as per belief in the industry. Jin Su-wan who wrote the screenplay said they looked for actors when conducting casting for the role, between 20 to 30 years of age. He saw that potential in Kim Soo-hyun. Only a few people among them had popular and favourable opinion, hence Kim Soo-hyun was most suitable. His performance was also good though untried because of his inexperience and newness in period dramas. He was ranked amongst the top 20 actors in the industry.


    After several months back then, a saguek had created top ratings of 46.1%. A film director Kim Do-hoon asserted that Kim Soo-hyun is surely one of the best actors in Republic of Korea. None seems to cover such varied genres, his facial features are strong and he easily engages with the rest of the cast. He is also very talented and sincere.

    After causing 'Hwon syndrome' across the nation from  'Moon embraces the Sun', his own filmography has been filled with blockbusters. From film 'Thieves', then movie 'Secretly, Greatly' to the drama 'My Love from the Stars' to recent drama 'Producers'. Considering he started attending acting classes only casually by chance, everything changed incredibly amazingly for this shy, bashful natured actor.

    Kim Soo-hyun shed his image last year, by playing rookie PD, Baek Seung-chan for KBS2 show 'Producers' after doing 180 degrees/completely opposite role, displaying a different charm from, earlier played perfect alien, Do Min-joon, in SBS drama 'My Love from the Stars'. He showed an acting skill without limits. This showed Kim Soo-hyun is ahead of his many eminent seniors by such talented acting only when 28 years old, winning acting awards with his debut, 8 years ago.

    Kim Soo-hyun has had blockbuster successes in dramas over the past years from 'My Love from the Stars', 'Moon Embraces the Sun', 'Producers' and has become the representative of Hallyu stars loved beyond Korea, all over Asia. His choice to take 'Producers' on TV and after the drama, his movie 'Real' success will show his big screen acceptance.

    'Real' is a film about a successful fixer, Jang Tae-young(Kim Soo-hyun), who handles requests of the dark underworld in a glamorous city when an investigative reporter takes to find more about him. Kim Soo-hyun with his character Jang Tae-young will show a dark, rough, manly essence than his any other work till now.

    The movie is known to begin shooting in January and finish shooting in June. His agency is also under discussions currently to choose from many good projects. They said, "Kim Soo-hyun is currently busy shooting 'Real', which will go on until June. Presently, his situation is to focus completely in the filming. With connection to his next project, there will be discussions with producers where we will then discuss dramas, promotions, tours etc."

    Considering it will be late June until the shoot ends, the release is expected to move early next year. According to multiple broadcasters, Kim Soo-hyun is known to carefully examine the scripts and can return to the dramas on small screen after shooting 'Real' which is expected to be in the second half of this year.

    His return to future dramas in the second half of the year and his film's success in a string, is likely to bring a second wave of 'Hallyu fever' all over again. This is because Kim Soo-hyun's successful works have been successively broadcast in Greater China and has built a strong Chinese fanbase, solidifying his status a Hallyu star representing Korea.

    'Real' is definitely a quality production. It involves CJ E&M film division, a leading production house and distributor in Korea. 'Real' has major investors like Paradise City with investments of 8 billion won ($ 7 million) apart from providing its Casino establishment as studio for shooting in Paradise City, that has yet to be opened. It will be distributed in China and some other countries by Alibaba Pictures which is reputed for distribution and handling of a major Hollywood franchise. From reports, it seems it has already bought major theater chains in China and will capitalize on this advantage to book number of screens when film is finally released. Both of them have already started to publicize about the movie. It is also said to be an action-packed movie. The 6 months shoot for this movie has spanned three countries with locations in China, S.Korea and Japan. Safe to say, it will be most anticipated movie of 2017.

    I don't know about intimate scenes as the production has been very tight-lipped about the story. The news about those scenes is yet to be confirmed officially and hence remains only rumoured and hype inducing on part of an actresses' agency. They did say actresses are required to be agreeable to 'high level of nudity'. I was of the similar opinion about censorship in Korean entertainment, but surprisingly, I realized that Korean dramas have different viewership to their films. Hence, while the dramas don't go into real adult themes like intimacy and violence, Korean movies, especially R-rated, are very popular there. They take liberties, having major scenes with sexual overtones, cynicism, violence, glamour and corruption and prefer realism to fantastical elements. As long as the movie is entertaining and logical, I will be enjoying it. Starring Kim Soo-hyun, I will love it no matter the rest.
