  1. from the greek newspaper "  ΕΡΜΗΣ"

"In Zakynthos the shootings were made in areas such as the Shipwreck, Exochora, Panagia Skopiotissa  and Anafonitria but were made also satellite shots from almost the entire island.

Regarding the reasons that Zakynthos was selected  as the filming site of a love story from Korea, the production company's representative stated that it was choice of the writer who had been in the past in Zakynthos and was captivated by the natural beauty of the island!

Zakynthos Municipality provided all possible assistance during their stay on the island. "

  2. The beach with the shipwreck, is the most famous beach of Zakynthos, is the creation of a whim of nature and a maritime accident in fictional circumstances. The whim of nature is the seismogenic western coast of the island and the deep waters of the Ionian sea that carving them for centuries. The shipwreck was a merchant ship named “Panagiotis”, which on September 30, 1982 aground on this beach with illegal cargo boxes of untaxed cigarettes. This unique combination of the untouched by the human hand beach and the rusty hull in the middle created the most-photographed theme in Zakynthos.

@kikirs To me, this drama isn't just about YSJ and KMY ending up together. First, I am hoping that it will also show the problems they have to face together. So ending up together shouldn't happen in the last episode but before. I really enjoyed DOTS because it showed how our OTP was facing real problems from the start. Her reasons for rejecting him were understandable. First the being together was difficult... and now, I am expecting staying together will be also difficult.

Besides this drama is interesting to me because it shows the life of UN-soldiers and doctors living in countried devastated by wars or natural disasters. IT's a pity to reduce it to the romance. The writer uses the romance to show the real work of the UN which is really honorable. The soldiers aren't fighting for their country but for the UN in the end hence you see a British soldier burried next to a Chinese soldier. I was really moved by it. This drama made me realise the good work the UN is doing, despite being criticised by many people. UN-power is so limited because of national interests of powerful countries. Yet, the work of UN shouldn't be reduced to nothing.

"First the being together was difficult... and now, I am expecting staying together will be also difficult." I totally agree with you.

"this drama is interesting to me because it shows the life of UN-soldiers and doctors living in countried devastated by wars or natural disasters" it is interesting for me too.

"IT's a pity to reduce it to the romance" I don`t reduce it. This drama belongs in the romance-melodrama category as I have read.

"UN-power is so limited because of national interests of powerful countries" that`s so true!!

Thank you for this interesting conversation! I am glad meeting you here!

I don't think so. First in the episode 6 she regretted her rejection. Plus, she started acting like his guardian in the episode 8. But before that, when he confessed in the episode 8, she didn't reject him. She simply didn't answer which was a step in YSJ's direction.

The incident with his disappearance made her realise that it was already too late because she already loved him. So being his girlfriend or not doesn't change the fact, she is worried about him. She can't stop thinking about him. So the public confession was the right kick for YSJ because he knows now, he only needs to keep pursuiing her. Like SDY told him in the episode 6, he shouldn't give up so quickly... he needs to try it 10 times!

I'm talking about the psychological process after the confession, not the result. These two will end up together .This is for sure. So it is written to be. In the final it is a drama about the love of these two.

    Noooooo!! :D

They've been away (well not literally) from each other for 8 eps already. Let them be together this time. But one thing I love about our captain, he's not afraid to apologise if he thinks he crosses the line. So I think they'll be fine.

He must put some effort to avoid her first reaction. It`s up to him.

Is the invitation for ramyun really korean talk for an invitation to do something else? I initially read it as really "do you want to go for supper" but is there a hidden meaning?

I don`t think that this invitation is the type as "come to show you my stamps collection". Not that he would not like it, of course. hi hi hi!!!! I think he just wants to spend a little more time with her.

Uruk, backdrop of ‘Descendants of the Sun,’ inspired by Iraq

KBS 2TV’s popular TV series “Descendants of the Sun” staff told a local Saturday night TV show that Uruk, the series’ backdrop, was inspired by Iraq.

MOD EDIT: Please do NOT quote images.

According to the series’ synopsis, Uruk is a remote area located at the margin of Balkan Peninsula. But a staff revealed on KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Weekly” that Uruk was modeled after Iraq.

The staff added that using the real name of the nation is likely to cause diplomatic conflict explaining the reason for change of name to Uruk.

“Descendants of the Sun,” starring actor Song Joong-ki as a junior Special Forces officer and actress Song Hye-kyo playing a surgeon, both dispatched to the remote area, revolves around their struggle facing disasters in the area.

The filming took place in Korea and abroad. The three sets revealed in the episode are located in Taebaek, Gangwon Province and Paju, Gyeonggi Province, both remote areas in Korea, as well as Greece for filming abroad.

so far most abroad shootings are in the island of Zakinthos, in the Ionian sea!

Great idea... I like it very much! crazy monkey I had said before that she and her mother must have suffered from the loss of her father/husband. The fact she had called her mother and only talked to her, when she was thinking, she was about to die was the clue that her father is dead. But your observation (she recognises the suit) is another clue that he might have been a soldier too. I like your idea very much that YMJ's father and YSJ's father might have known him... Imagine the reaction of YMJ's father, when he hears that YSJ is dating the daughter from a deceased general or something similar!!!  This would be his reaction:head crazy rabbitHe has planned everything for his daughter/ his own career as well and his plan can't be realised because YSJ is dating the daughter from a higher up!

Even to SJ seemed strange and asked her "how did you know this was a dress uniform?". hahaha...MG`s father`s reaction is very funny!!!

About Argus.... in the Greek Mythology, Argos (latin: Argus) was a giant with a body covered with 100 eyes. He received the task From Hera to monitor the mistress of Zeus named Io, but he failed.

Anyway, I don't think again that the name of the ex-captain is random. Actually, the fact that he knows powerful people and seems to be involved in every dirty business (diamonds and arms smuggling; human trafficking) can be seen as the new form of Argus. Because of his "100 eyes", he knows what is happening in Urk all the time. He was also there, when the british UN-soldier died.

Since he went to the funeral means he is still attached to his former colleagues. He also warned YSJ to be too empathetic for his job. So in my opinion, something bad must have happened to Argus so that he decided to quit but also give up his idealism. Now, he is the opposite: he kills without remorse, he has no dream at all, only money matters and to me, this is his way of coping from the painful past.

About Argus, the giant, he was killed later, but Hera felt sorry for him so that she kept his eyes: the peacock has on his tail Argus' eyes. And the peacock represents Hera. Hence I am expecting that the ex-captain Argus will die, but in a more noble way, like for example sacrifice himself for YSJ or something else important.

That`s right. Argos was a servant of Hera and guarded Io following Hera`s order. Argos killed by Hermes, executing  orders of Zeus, after disguised as a shepherd and sent Argos to sleep with his music achievements. Hera to honor her watchful guardian, retained forever his eyes in the peacocks tail, her sacred bird.

  10. Something in my mind tells me that the mystery surrounding MY`s father is that he was a soldier who killed in duty. That`s why she knew that the suit SJ wore (in the wine kiss scene) was the official uniform. So she has difficulty to accept SJ because she knows how hard the life is for his wife and the children that left behind. I bet that both SJ and MJ fathers knew him.

I dont think so.... he seems really change his job as what he said to SJ.... but the kidnapping scene keep lingering in my head.... is it Argus gang or someone else??

but i still thinking Argus may save YSJ this time.... because he owe his life to YSJ for the "Saving Private Ryan" story back then while they in the same joint operation unit...Argus seems like the leader as his rank was Captain that time and YSJ was Liuttenant. regarding the kidnapping it may happen that something danger can affect YSJ, and Argus will save him and call it even. life for a life.YSJ saved him once and he just do his payback. well it's just an imagination.

also i am very curious on Yoo Ahn In, we know that he will be appear as cameo some time later.... what character will he portray??? is it something to dig about KMY and YMJ stories??? even YSJ is curious about it also. we knew the nerve war between them happen because a sunbae at their medical school.... and according to KMY, YMJ is never go out with that sunbae either... so no one wins according to her....sooo is Yoo Ahn In the sunbae in the story??? if yes kkkkkkkk i really love to see the jealous expression from YSJ.

also since KMY and YMJ are a doctor and YSJ and SDY are a soldier.... will we see  scene where someone have to save another life???? lets say we saw where YSJ or SDY got hurt badly... i really mean badly.... and need surgery from our doctor???? well i'm not saying someone will die... but i think that option about someone save another is on the table too....as we are in this kind of drama. and the scene surely will grow another level of their relationship....

The kidnapping story is right in front of our eyes.... also the kissing scene... in 8 more episodes left i really hope more stories reveal. we already see YSJ dad .... LCH mom.... i want to meet KMY mom lol.... and how she meet with YSJ.

I want to see jealous both SJ and SDY for the same man !!

I must say I'm impressed with Onew. I'm always cautious when it comes to idol actors, but he's delivered his role thus far as a rich-boy, idealistic young doctor whose experiences in an emergency site have started to change him, very well indeed.

I must say I am worried for his character now. He is feeling anguish and shows signs of PTSD. I hope someone on the team recognises this soon and addresses it before it escalates into something worse.

I think he needs help too.
