  1. I CRIED SO HARD. I can't believe we were all worried that they would kill off Sunny early and did not foresee the bombshell they exploded on us.

It hurts so much because they fed us with so many happy montages of them before killing her off like seriously?? :'(

I cried when I saw her in her wedding dress - felt like a mum marrying off my child -  and then I cried again when they said their vows to each other. So simple, so sure of their hearts, and so in love.

I feel so traumatised now - brought back memories of Reply 1988 and seeing my jungpal get rejected by his first love :'(

I know we got a happy ending - and I truly am happy with the ending - but my heart still hurts so bad for their separation. GOD WHY!!!!

Can someone redo the entire ep 16 and get them married and happy after she gets reincarnated T.T

  2. I've been rematching the earlier episodes (for the thousandth time) and I'm blown away by how the writer has managed to portray the relationship progression between ET and KS so subtly and beautifully.

ET has gone from saying "I don't need you" to "I need you".

KS has gone from disappearing whenever ET's back is turned to staying in line of her sight.

Another scene that had me thinking was the part where ET just woke up in the hospital and her first instinct was to ask for a lighter. At first I assumed that she wanted to call KS immediately to question him or just to see his face. But we see that she only actually used it when she was on her way to work in the cable car. Perhaps she was waiting for him to visit her in the hospital, until she reached a point where she couldn't stand it and decided to forgo her pride to summon him.

IMO, the lighter (which she probably carries around with her all the time) has become her source of security. Just feeling it in her pocket or knowing she has it with her probably has been something she relies on for comfort - similar to the red scarf her mother gave her.

ET relies on the physical comfort of things in replacement of the people that she has lost. E.g. We see that she goes into panic mode when she realises she doesn't have her red scarf with her - and KS knows this too because he brought it out to her.

Oh ET, you are so loved :')

  3. I screamed so many times during the make-up scene OMG.

HaeSoo is going to tread carefully around 4th prince now but I'm sure there will be a turning point where she sees and feels his love for her - probably going to be a big event where he sacrifices himself/suffers along with her willingly.

It's beautiful to see him finally acknowledging his love for her, and bravely proclaiming it to her.

Now I can't wait to see him get all jealous and huffy ^.^

I would agree that there's probably nothing "romantic" about that hug that we're all scrutinizing for the minutest details. ;) But it doesn't make it less significant in the development of this relationship. And it shows that there's a high level of comfort that they feel in one another's space to do this. It shows that they can be vulnerable towards one another in different ways. I for one think that they have the best foundation of all... Friendship... as a precursor to a more physical relationship.

They are first and foremost friends. That means building, time... a superstructure not based purely on emotions but common interests. They have chats about what living in Goryeo means to them -- the difficulties and the realities. Before So realised that he had deeper feelings for Su, they were two people who were able to bare their souls to one another at the most basic level. When they both first arrived at Songak right about the same time, they were foreigners in their own country. Both misfits of some description.

For me the slow burn from friendship works because they will suffer many things together and their relationship will be tested severely from within and external forces. They need that extra time in the beginning to build a stronger foundation so that no matter what they would always find their way back to each other. (At least that's what I'm hoping)

That's why I also think that when Su has a hard time, it's easy for her to go to So and spill her guts because he has experienced it and he will not give her false encouragement.

There's always a likelihood as I've said previously, of So going over to the dark side in order to protect her interests or theirs as a couple. There's a violent side brewing just beneath the surface but the fact that she doesn't fear him but understand his overdeveloped survival instincts, is the most important restraint to his darker impulses.

Thank you, I LOVE THIS POST.

I really like the way the drama is taking the time to set up their friendship, with mini friendship milestones reached in each episode. I think it makes their love so much more believable, tangible and relatable. It's already feeling so damn intense - and they ain't even officially together yet ^^

I think this friendship progression is a level up from the Chinese version - because in that series, 4th prince pretty much chases her until she is touched by his love for her.

Ugh, I love 4th prince's character so much. So layered and so much to analyse.

@Gabi Bros I whole-heartedly agree!! Their off screen chemistry are off the charts!! I'm loving all the BTS videos and pictures~ I just hope there will be more of the cast interacting with each other too, not IU - Lee Junki - Kang Haneul only.

@snowy21 I feel the same, I don't think IU is a bad actress. In fact, I think she's one of the best among her idol peers. I suspect, the thing that led to her acting controversy is that her co-stars are just too good, making her acting look average or even lower than that to some viewers. I believe she can be a really great actress if she decided to pursue it seriously.

Also, pretty irrelevant, but ever since I got into this drama, I've been following and watching each stars's videos, and I noticed that IU is pretty much shippable with everyone, ahahhaa...everyone seems to like IU so much, whether singers or actors, they are showering her with praise every time they talked about her. Lee Junki is the most 'brother-like' to me, he's so good at taking care of his co-stars. Well, it's expected from a 'veteran actor' ahahaha... Kang Haneul is like the class-clown, he likes to play around with his drama co-stars, and also a little bit 'playboy-like'?? Ahahaa I mean in it a good way though

I agree, IU's acting really isn't bad. I think she's worked really hard to be where she is right now, considering that she probably doesn't have the natural acting chops that I see Hyeri (Girls Day) has. I'm sure she will continue to improve over time. Lee Jun Ki's acting is really severely overshadowing everyone at this point haha. Kang Ha Neul is pretty outstanding as well. I'm so happy that the drama at least made sure to cast good actors for the two lead roles ^^

@Amanda Soo I probably won't rewatch the drama at all, as much as I love RJY. I just need another project from RJY that will help erase the memory of this drama from my mind.

Haha this is such a waste of a drama.. It's so sad. I don't think I can watch it for a few years lol. And YES WE ALL NEED A GREAT DRAMA WHERE RJY GETS THE GIRL IN THE END. Seriously.

I cried because I was really sad about JH. but then I also cried when DS came to the room and the four guys were there, like the very first scene of the series. it reminds me how good this drama is, but .... really. it could've had a better ending. it could've been the best drama, the drama that no matter how much I watch I'd still love. I'm keeping the drama until E18 and not gonna download 19 & 20.

this drama left a really bad feeling in my heart in the end, it does not feel good. at all. I'm bawling.

*HUGS* I'm crying too... I don't even know how I can ever bring myself to rewatch the episodes without having my heart ache for JH. This was going to be my top drama ever. Now it's like where do I even put this drama on my list. :/

  8. Thanks for the live recaps guys. I haven't even seen the last ep yet but I'm already crying just thinking about our poor JH.

He has given away so much love to his family, to his friends, to DS but he gets nothing in the end.

The fortune teller really did give us the biggest hint about endgame - he will do fine on his own.

    Sigh.

I really hope knetz do a good job of blasting the writer and director for their choice.

I so love this drama but I'm hurting too much to think clearly.

Why did I even choose to start this drama :'( This hurts so baaad.

Also, could it be that the reason why JH kept staring at his wallet is not just because there's a picture of him and DS there but because of the "possibility" that TK has seen that picture and things might get messy because of it, which has in fact. Lol idk it just suddenly came to my mind.

Yeah, Taek may not have put the picture back properly because he was rushing to close it when he realised DS was waiting outside the door!
