Duchess Catherine, Kate Middleton, Prince William, Chelsea Clinton, Hillary Clinton

When royalty met (political) royalty...Fresh from sitting down with President Barack Obama, Prince William—this time accompanied by Kate Middleton—had another meet-and-greet with some of the country's most powerful Democrats this afternoon, chatting with Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, who was with husband Marc Mezvinsky, at an event at the British Consul General's Residence in New York City to promote wildlife conservation, one of the Duke of Cambridge's principal philanthropic causes.Kate and Will arrived at at the Conservation Reception shortly at 5:50 p.m. local time and were greeted by the British Ambassador to the U.S., Sir Peter Westmacott, and British Consul General Danny Lopez. The duchess camouflaged her baby bump (and braved the winter chill outside) in a silvery Tory Burch coat, while Hillary—who could yet another impressive title one day herself—wore a long power-red and one of her trademark scarves.
Prince William, who is expecting his second child with Kate, was heard sharing mutual congratulations with Chelsea and Marc, who welcomed their first child, daughter Charlotte, in September. Hillary asked Kate how she had enjoyed her visit to Harlem's Northside Center this morning, and Kate told the former first lady, New York senator and secretary of state that she had very much enjoyed meeting with children and their families who benefit from the facility's work with kids with special needs. On their way into the reception, Kate also stopped to tell a 6-year-old girl, who was there with her parents and grandparents, that she liked her footwear."I love your shoes and socks," the duchess told the presumably charmed-and-dazzled child. "They look very Christmasy."Prince William was first to address the reception, calling those in attendance "lights at the end of the tunnel" when it came to the daunting task of stopping illegal poaching."Time is running out, but this room reminds us that support is not running out," he said. "We can be optimistic." Hillary and Chelsea also spoke at the event, as did a number of other activists. One of the evening's guests, Louise Middleton, told reporters that she happens to have a daughter named Kate and "she gets a lot of free drinks."As for the otherKate Middleton, Louise said, "She couldn't have been nicer, she was very attentive and she really seemed as though she was listening to what we had to say, took her time, wasn't in a rush to meet the next person."After the reception, Will and Kate went back to the Carlyle Hotel, the luxurious spot they're bunking at while in town, to get ready to attend the Brooklyn Nets' game against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at the Barclays Center. For once, Beyoncé and Jay Z won't be the most looked-at couple at the arena tonight!

"In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th September and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild. William and Catherine," she wrote in a note the couple left with flowers on the memorial pools lined with the names of the nearly 3,000 victims.
Making their first visit to New York, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited its most somber site amid a three-day agenda filled with events linked to their charitable interests in conservation and youth development, receptions with actors and others in creative and technology fields, and a bit of all-American entertainment — a pro basketball game.
As the royals toured the museum devoted to the attacks, they examined such artifacts as preserved trident columns from one of the fallen twin towers' facades and viewed rows upon rows of victims' portraits. Like other visitors, they left virtual signatures to be projected on a crucial underground wall that survived the attacks and held back the Hudson River, with Kate looking on with a smile as hers appeared. And they asked questions about the memorial pools' design, about how victims' families had responded to the museum, and about the attacks themselves, National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum President Joe Daniels said.
"You could see in, really, both of their eyes, the sort of care and curiosity they had for the story of what happened and the people who died that day," Daniels said.
William remarked on "how much people understand and need to understand how impactful the scale of loss was" on American history, Daniels said.
Kate noted the vastness of the museum's space, which stretches seven stories belowground amid the fallen towers' footprints, and "talked about how moving the memorial was and being able to touch the names of the victims," museum chief of staff Allison Blais said.
Curious museumgoers stood by to get a look at the royals — including the pregnant Kate's hot-pink Mulberry coat, black tights, and black stiletto-heeled pumps, over a black dress from maternity designer Seraphine. Other fans braved heavy, cold rain outside. Krupa Shah took a vacation day from her Manhattan finance job.
"I took the day off work when they got married. I didn't go to a family event when Kate was in labor, because I wanted to know what she had," the New Jersey resident said.
The royals, now 32, were beginning their studies at the University of St. Andrews when the attacks happened. Sixty-seven British citizens died that day, the highest toll of any country other than the U.S.
After the museum, the royal couple watched dance and storytelling performances at The Door, a youth development organization. Tapping his feet quietly during a hip-hop-style dance performance, William also showed he was moved by one young man's story of his father's incarceration and his own brush with a jail term in an assault case.
"I had a low period in my life, and never in a million years did I expect I would be performing for the duke and duchess," Steven Prescod, 22, said later.
William approached Prescod and peer educator Ely Olivero, 22, after the show, calling it "incredible," Olivero said.
The royals went on to a reception celebrating the arts, with guests including actor Patrick Stewart and producers Harvey Weinstein. And William got a look at the view from the Empire State Building's famous 86th-floor observatory while attending an innovation-focused reception with Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The duke and duchess ended their trip at a black-tie scholarship fundraiser for their alma mater, St. Andrews, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Kate wore a dark green crepe, pleated, off-the-shoulder Jenny Packham dress, one she has worn before.
On Monday, William met with President Barack Obama at to the White House and spoke at a World Bank conference. Kate wrapped Christmas gifts and helped children decorate picture frames while touring a child development center. Both royals later attended a reception with former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky.
William and Kate then took in a Cleveland Cavaliers-Brooklyn Nets game, meeting music power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce and Cavaliers star LeBron James.

It's official -- Kate Middleton can even master court-side style. The Duchess of Cambridge attended her first NBA game with Prince William on Monday, Dec. 8, taking in the Brooklyn Nets versus the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Barclays Center.

The couple's attendance was in celebration of the recently announced partnership between the Royal Foundation's United for Wildlife and Coach Core programs and the league’s NBA Cares global social responsibility program. As stated in a press release to Us Weekly, the partnership will raise awareness about the importance of international wildlife conservation, develop the next generation of conservation leaders, and grow the game of basketball.

Middleton, who already won over NYC earlier in the day by dressing like a true New Yorker in a $1,000 black military-style "Washington" coat by Goat, donned a chic $595 tweed Tory Burch coat, black skinny jeans, and black pumps for the big game. William opted for a more casual look and wore a plaid button-down shirt and dark pants.
Prior to taking her seat at the game, Prince George's mom -- wearing the same outfit -- attended the Conservation Reception at the British consul general's residence with William, where she met Hilary and Chelsea Clinton. The expectant royal also visited Harlem's Northside Center for Child Development, while her husband met with President Barack Obama at the White House.
During an interview with ESPN's Dave McMenamin during the Cavaliers' practice on Sunday, LeBron James said "it's a huge honor" to play before the couple.
"The stuff that you read about people like them are only in books growing up," he said. "And to hear that they're coming to town to see me play and they want to see me do what I do best, it's a huge honor."

"She has a lot of functions where she needs something extremely elegant and formal, which is not necessarily what people would wear on a daily basis, so it's not part of our range," she explained to E!
