I think for me, the languages I want to learn.. I have no one to converse to so I can't learn quickly. Also yeah, there's the problem with slang. Normally what you pick up in the books is more formal language and not as colloquial as how people really speak?

Then for the languages I could learn... sometimes I don't really want to learn them. Or sometimes I can find people to speak to, but it's quite embarrassing or I just don't know where to start.
