  1. I've read in some other sites that Lee El's character is the Samshin Halmang, but I wonder if maybe she's actually Bari/ an Ogushin.  It would somehow make sense, I think? Since Eun Tak's character is kinda similar to that of Bari.  And when Lee El's voiceover said that Grim (and Sunny) have a high price to pay, she definitely seems mad at Grim, which if he's really the King, would make sense since in the first ep, Shin's second in command asked the king if he didn't fear heaven.

If Grim's the King, it would also make sense since he ordered the deaths in the first place.  Since he mocked that the gods don't listen to the people, it would be probable that he got sentenced to being a reaper.  I know that Shin was imagining someone who's 17 years old, but he forgot that when he resurrected, it had been years later already (since the Eunuch was shown to have aged into an old man), so the king probably died at a more mature age (and they only showed a portrait of the queen, but not of the king).  If he's the king, maybe he cried not because he knows Sunny, but because of the ring - which belonged to the queen.

Also, if he's both the reaper AND the king, then is it possible that Shin's death scene will be recreated for his final (and imminent) modern death? I could definitely imagine Eun Tak telling Shin that she'll be right behind him.

  2. I didn't have time to read the previous comments here for Ep 16...

But when Gyeong Nae stated that the leader should be chosen by the people, it seemed like Yeong's eyes shifted a little as if a glimmer of an idea has started to grow.  And he said that he will talk to him after the interrogation in order to discuss a bloodless solution...

I think that Yeong DOES intend to have the people choose a leader w/out him having to abdicate the throne...

And that would be for the people to choose the Mother of the Nation.  If the people were to be able to choose their queen, they would still get a people's leader w/out letting go of a king born into royalty.

As I said, I have not read any comments, so if it turns out that there are also others who have brought this up, then I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. :)

Writer-nim, PD-nim, we believe in you! Please take care of our hearts! ^.^

@miss-guided It is the one given to her by YS. Actually the dress caught her attention at the shop and YS saw her looking at it longingly so he bought it while she wasn't looking. It is also the one she was wearing when LY first discovered she was a woman.

Ah... I didn't notice the fabric up close.  You're right. I was really hoping that it was going to be a wedding dress so that I'd be confidently watching the last episodes w/out having to worry so much.  My heart's gonna have to deal w/ the gripping suspense. :'(

  4. Can someone please confirm if my interpretation is correct?

I noticed the importance and relevance of the meanings of the names of the people and the places (such as Ra On,  and the poop palace).  So I was thinking that the same is true for Jahyeondang.  I forgot where I read it, but I think it's some kind of Penance Hall and is also claimed to be a ghost house.

So metaphorically... the Jahyeondang trio is living with ghosts (of their pasts) and with suffering... But being together makes it bearable for them.  Not only that, but they all give a little something to help each other.  That while most people see it as penance or suffering or even ghost-filled, these three see it as a bright home.  There's the brave flower prince who's the moonlight (brave, flower and moonlight as per wikipedia is said to be associated with Yeong's name- but I have no idea if this is accurate)... There's the virtuous soldier... and there's the third "boy" who gives them joy.  It seems that they all have brightness in each one of them...

I'm not sure if my interpretation is correct.  But if it's somehow near to the accurate meaning that the show connotes, it's subtly poetic. :)

  5. I'm so glad that Byung Hyun hid those documents for Young.  I was so worried that he'd choose his secret mission over his friendship and it would lead to their friendship ending.  So it's good to see that Team Dung is doing okay.  I don't mind that he's leading a double life and is actually a rebel, but I just don't want him to forget the bromance of Team Dung.  Bromance just makes everything better.

  6. I just noticed that they always seem to end each episode by emphasizing their relationship.  That they always end up choosing and believing in one another.  Even if one of them tries to escape (ehem, Ra On), the other is always right behind, catching them and refusing to let them go. And even when Ra On is running/being taken away, you could see how her thoughts are still on Young.  Basically, OTP IS INTENSE.

  7. I noticed that what little YS said about his duty as a friend and as a subject are one and the same.  That what he wants is to guide Young to do what's right and to be a great king.  And you could see that Young is so grateful to have that kind of person in his life.  But it turns out that it wasn't YS who became that person to him, but Ra On.  And it makes his line "He's my person" even more meaningful.  Because Ra On then is not just a eunuch or a man or woman or even friend.  He's just a real and sincere person to him. And that makes him the most important person in Young's life right now. Gosh, this show is making me feel so many things. Good things, though.  Good feel-worthy things.

  8. "My wish is to make your wish come true."

    "He's my person."

Writer-nim, you're doing an awesome job! Just swoon-worthy.  And having someone like Bogum delivering those lines? Sign me up to be a eunuch! Could someone just please print those on some Hallmark cards w/ Gummy's aegyo face on the cover? Cuz I bet all the fangirls would want that for Valentines and Christmas and Birthdays and all the days of the year.

  9. I think that while Chae Soo Bin's character will obviously see her as a rival for Young's heart, she might also end up having something with Byung Yeon (based on the preview where they seem to have some interaction - and also in press conferences where they seem to be seated next to each other).   It would make sense because the prince's cool & cunning personality is complemented  by Ra On's warmth but both have this childlike innocence that connect each other.  So Chae Soo Bin's character - which I assume to be noble and lady-like - would be complemented by Byung's rough & manly personality; however, I think both will also have some similar characteristics (maybe they both like to be silent but sensitive observers).

  10. Not only does Young's character feel very and truly human - he's a human that everyone SHOULD be watching (both in the drama's royal court and in reality with the viewers).  Bogum just nailed this character.  Most prince charmings are just that - charming.  But that's just superficial.  Some kdrama princes get to go deeper and show us the scars that caused them to turn into reckless, rebellious, sinfully charming jerks.  But Bogum went an extra mile and used both aspects of that character trope as a distraction in order to get control.  He made everyone believe his guise that not only is he reckless - he's also weak like his father.  But Young is just the complete opposite of that.  He's cunning and goal-driven and most of all, he knows how to use his power. He realizes that he's the most powerful chess piece in the game - but also acknowledges that he can only move across the board if the other chess pieces are also in play.

    BUT

I just don't want him to NOT know that his dorky best friend is actually a girl.  He's the guy who's one step ahead of everyone else! How can he be so oblivious?? That is just WAY OUT OF CHARACTER.  Especially since he carried her to his bed! If Yoon Sung had noticed it in an instant, he should more than likely have noticed as well!
