[[Drama 2017] Because This Is My First Life 이번 생은 처음이라]

Hmm... a programmer (or close to it) needs a housemate that is able to do the housework and chores, is stoic, very meticulous about finance down to the penny, and is pressured to get married by parents? The girl, almost a decade younger, has family problems so she can't live at home, has job problems so she can't afford rent, and so willingly goes into a sham marriage with the former?

 

The minute details may be different, but the overall premise sounds A LOT like Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu (aka Full Time Wife Escapist). Considering that was my favourite drama of 2016, that's actually high praise. I highly doubt Because this is My First Life will be as good (especially when 20th Century Children is frigging awesome and it's airing at the same time) but it's certainly now in my watch list because of it.

Ugh, I still can't over the fact in K-dramas with poor people, they are still sporting the latest Samsung models. I just find it eye-rolling stupid that a girl who can't even afford her own umbrella has a mother #@%! Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. >_>

That aside, the male lead's back story was so boring. I was half falling asleep in the first half; oh look, another great warrior who got politically backstabbed, and after being killed has to roam the land looking for a way to get eternal peace. Maybe it's because I've read a lot of manga and pretty much watch every anime series that I really didn't find the male lead's story compelling. Don't even get why the girl in white had to die (or the rest of the court for the matter) if the male lead was going to commit suicide anyways. Like seriously, what in the actual @!$% was that?

Now, the female lead... from her circumstances in that she isn't supposed to be alive, to the fact that the young version of her sold me on her acting despite the 'tear fluids' they had to use, I'm actually very interested in her character. She was like only there for 5 mins and I was bawling when they revealed that the mom that brought the cake is already dead. So for all the deficiencies the story has with the male lead, the female lead's story was very compelling. Only reason why I'm still looking forward to tomorrow's episode, so hopefullyt hey keep it up for then.
