Note: If you don’t care about Jongsuk and Woobin, feel free to skip this post.

OKAY I just got to vent.

Of course, you are free to write off everything Jongsuk says in the Ceci interview as fake or trying to make himself sound nice or just plain nonsense. That is your prerogative. I just know this is a man who compares interviews to therapy and strives to be always honest in them, as much as he can. He has been like this since the first interview I translated in 2012 and he continues to be so.

So, taking everything he said like he means it, the few snippets about Woobin really moved me. And not just the part where he called Woobin his only guy friend among male actors and how they are the first to contact each other when they come back to the country (though since Woobin is dating, I’m pretty sure he would contact his girlfriend Shin Minah first lol).

It is the part where the editor asked him to say something ambitious about the upcoming dramas. He was asked to give a 출사표, which is a kind of vow that a military general gives in ancient times before he goes to war. The implied meaning is that you should talk about your own drama and your hopes for it. But what does Jongsuk do? He goes on to talk about Woobin and Suzy’s drama and how attractive it is; he talks about how he would definitely watch it as a drama fanatic and he talks about how he was going to cameo for that drama. Not a word about ‘W’.

More than anything, that proves to me that he cares about his friend. And that was just so heart-warming for me: after all these years, he is still the guy who promotes Woobin’s movie all of a sudden in his interviews. He is still the one who says he watched ‘Heirs’ since Woobin is in it.

P.S. I would have loved to see that cameo…

P.P.S. The interviewer talked about LJS and KWB possibly being the next Jung Woosung and Lee Jungjae. Those two have been best friends for 20+ years and recently formed their own entertainment label together. What a dream! :)

There's a little mistranslation here... he didn't say that KWB is "his only guy friend among male actors" nor that "they are the first to contact each other when they come back to the country"...

What he said is: "모델 때부터 또래가 우빈이밖에 없어서 친했고, '학교 2013'이라는 작품을 같이 했고. 남자 배우로는 유일하게 연락하고, 한국에 와서도 제일 먼저 왔다고 신고했고, 소식이 들리면 제일 먼저 연락하고. 저도 행운이라고 생각해요." which translates as: "KWB is the only same-age friend (as in, only other 89er) I've known since I was a model. We've worked in 'School2013' together. He's the only same-age (89er) male actor that I keep in touch with, who I contacted after I came back to Korea, and who I call when there's anything new. I also think of it as good fortune." (Note: everyone knows that KWB is not Jong-suk's only guy friend among male actors; and in this interview, the way the editor asked this question left no room for him to talk about anyone else.)

There is nothing wrong with what Jong-suk said in his interview as it reflects HIS point of view regarding the friendship.

However, I sometimes think, this "friendship" is sadly one-sided as he's the only one always mentioning the other, giving endless compliments, and even promoting the other's works even more than his own... This is probably one of the main reasons why he is known to be too nice for his own good in the industry. Not to mention all that he had to suffer at the hands of his "friends"' company. (I really wonder... if they are so close, why just watch when his company's been harassing Jong-suk for years? This is the biggest mystery to me...)

  2. Now that it's confirmed that Jong-suk's new drama will be going head to head with "that company"'s drama, they've already started to use their age-old "friendship" media-play. Seriously, they only do this every single time they need to use him as a stepping stone to promote the actor under their label (meaning, only when they have something to gain from it). This wouldn't be a problem though, if they just released the accurate facts on both actors' accomplishments in said PR articles. Unfortunately, this is never the case. They always try to tarnish his image and diminish his achievements to make the other's shine more (by undermining his and exaggerating the other's). Unless, Jong-suk finds himself a strong enough company that can shield him from what's coming...

With that said, the synopsis for "W" seems very promising and I love the writer's previous works, so can't wait for it!

  3. It's nothing new. That company has been using these dirty media-play tactics every year, when it's time for cf contract renewals (that's also when unfounded rumours and ridiculous blind items suddenly start popping out of nowhere).

For a few months now, his related search results on portal sites have been going through ongoing malicious manipulations. They've obviously been taking advantage of the fact that he's never been under the care of a reliable company, which makes him an easy target.

  4. Wow…  just a couple of weeks since I last  visited the thread and it's moved so many pages…

Anyway, I was skimming through the last few pages and noticed that i-fans are trying to send some kind of petition to LJS's company about his being unable to film Healing Camp…

As everyone can get an idea of how packed LJS's schedule is after Pinocchio, I don't think there is a need for any further explanation on why he is not able to participate to the filming of the show.

On another note, I-fans seem to think of Healing Camp as a good variety show….which it's not, and it hasn't been for some time now. There is absolutely nothing good that can come out of LJS and PSH going on that show at this point in their career. It's been a while since this show has started deviating from it's original intent to bring "healing" to both guests and viewers. It has turned into a low-grade show that edits the guest's words and releases sensationalized cuts as previews that incite netizens' criticism and hatred for the sake of increasing their ratings (which have been really bad lately). The majority of the articles released after the show have very provocative titles that, many times, distort the guests' words and puts them on the chopping block for something they didn't even do/say. This only makes their image worse than before they got on the show. For instance, there's no need to look too far for an example, just reading the most recent articles on Korean portal sites will give you an idea…

Though it's understandable for fans to want to see the Pinocchio team one last time, fans also need to consider how going on a show like Healing Camp can negatively affect both LJS and PSH's careers.

  5. I think it'll be best to drop all discussions on the IG post…

The deletion had nothing to do with comments on Shin-Hye's IG… there were no hate comments on it.

Translation of first post: " #pinocchio #choi dalpo#choi inha #picture found while browsing the internet #flowerface   By the way, no matter how I think about it, this is unfair. Bbyong bbyong (삐용삐용) is mine.. I got robbed.. everyone.. bbyong bbyong is mine.. i did it first.."

Translation of second post : "Kim Jin Min's emoticon bbyong (삐용삐용) that I imitated was turned into #pphyung pphyung(#피융피융) by Dalpo"

I can't believe there's only 6 episodes left!!! I'm really gonna miss this drama.:(
