  1. @Princi_86 I love your fan vid... it's beautiful. You really captured their journey well. I love the quotes used in here, and how your incorporated them into the video.

Here's another great quote from Ri Hwan (he has so many):

“Hating a person I don’t even know very well… I don’t even have to hate him to this extent. Hating him to this extent, means that he is not the problem. That means… there is a problem within my heart.” – Ri Hwan, Bubblegum Episode 4

  2. Hey everyone,

    sad-ri-hwan-drawing-by-zhaoul1.jpg

The image of teary eyed Ri Hwan has been stuck in my mind all week. I know some might not understand why his character would do this, but personally I don't feel he acted out of character. He's in fact being selfless. Is it the right decision; no, but his heart means well. If Haeng A can be happy, that's what he wants for her. He doesn't want to see her suffer any more. He also knows that if he's going to let her go, it has to be completly. Otherwise he'll so desperately want to hold on to her.  There are a lot of other factors that fueled his decision as well, but I think this is a large part of it.

Now, the way I see it. They're both going to be utterly lost. Ri Hwan and his mom are Haeng A's lifeline. We'll see exactly how it plays out. I'm so glad there's another episode just around the corner. The weeks come and go so quickly. I'll be so sad when this beautiful drama is over.

I hope you like the fan art. I really needed to draw his face...

  3. My Favourite Scene from Episode 6: Garbage in the sand, Flying bags and Choking Cats

    bubblegum-ep-6banner.jpg

Episode 5 and 6 really did have lots of great moments (Episode 6 especially).

My fave scene, if I can only pick one, would have to be the beach scene.

    bubblegum-ep-6-11.jpg

Specifically, my absolute favourite moment from the beach scene was when the garbage flies in Haeng A's face and Ri Hwan peels it off without saying a word. Then this random stray cat walks by lol.

    bubblegum-ep-6-9.jpg

It really make me laugh every single time a re-watch it, but it's really beautiful and artistic even though you wouldn't think garbage in your face and stray cats choking on something random would be romantic. I guess that's what makes the whole scene (and drama for that matter) so clever. They take something seemingly flawed and make it so beautiful and pure.

    ...poor cat...

  4. @wishbone26 I also hope the drama is a great success! I wonder if that free coffee (being paid for by JRW haha) would also include us international fans ;)

I rewatched the 8 min teaser and I also took some screen caps and made a collage.

    bubblegum-kdrama-intro-collage1.jpg

I thought the intro really looked like a lot of fun. I'm a big fan of the added animation.

    bubble-gum-screencaps.jpg

I liked how they introduced each character by showing their name. Oh he's so handsome, it's blinding - my eyes! my eyes! the beauty!

    bubblegum-intro5.jpg

I love this one because he's clearly overflowing with kisses that a heart escaped, right?

    bubblegum-kdrama-teaser13.jpg

What is this face exactly? I don't know, but it's great.

    bubblegum-kdrama-teaser12.jpg

There he goes with those expressive lips again.

    bubblegum-kdrama-teaser10.jpg

Here he looks subtle and natural, but he's definitely reacting.

    bubblegum-kdrama-teaser9.jpg

The emotion... we're going to see some good acting everyone.

    bubblegum-kdrama-teaser17.jpg

Love this one where the sunlight is shining on him.

  5. @sassygirl94 @MaysoonD I feel optimistic and think this drama will be different. It does also have a mixture of rom com and melo from the preview and teasers we've seen, but I feel like the two genres will blend better in this drama. The premise seems simpler too so I'm guessing it will focus more on character relationships than crazy plot twists. I can't wait to see the dynamics between the four of them. We got lots of Lee Dong Wook in the extended preview. Didn't he look amazing? He's so funny and adorable. We also get to see glimpses of the complicated relationships and we see Lee Dong Wook's awesome acting. I love all his facial expressions so much. His character seems very likable. I felt like the female second lead watching the preview. She looked very smitten with him. He's the best. LDW fighting!

  6. Hey everyone!

I wanted to take a minute and say a big thank you to angiemty who did a fantastic job updating Lee Don Wook's Bio on the first page of this thread. It really looks beautiful from all the images to the text headers. It's very well organize and I like how it's sorted by year and type of project.

If you haven't looked at the front page in a while you should go take a look at the updates :)

  7. So Ji-Sub - Volkwagen Golf GTI

I loved the concept of this CF. Just imagine... your purse gets stolen, oh no...! But here comes handsome So Ji-Sub to the rescue!!!! He smiles sweetly at the children, he is so cool and calm... He drives with confidence weaving through the cars effortlessly to get back your purse. As the car sharply glides from left to right, you find yourself accidentally sliding into flawless So Ji-Sub, with sweet innocent contact (it's not your fault you keep bumping into him right?).
I love his confidence in this CF and all his effortless smiles. The Star of the show is meant to be the car, but Ji-Sub displays the cool conviction and style like the car. I can't picture anyone else in this CF. He's perfect in it. Absolute perfection.

  8. So Ji-Sub  - Boy Go (feat. Soul Dive)

I really enjoy the concept of this video. I would love to hear a full interpretation of this song. I get that it has to do with childhood dreams, but beyond that I'm not really sure.
So Ji-Sub's looks in this video are great and I totally dig the sunglasses. The incorporation of the video game is really neat and I like Ji-Sub's video game character!

    boy-go.jpg

The way he moves while he's holding that green mic is amazing. You can tell he's really feeling the music, and I dig that.
This song is also catchy and I like it. The music video complements the song nicely.
  9. So Ji Sub 소지섭 - 18 Years (Feat. Saetbyul 샛별)
I would like to share my thoughts with you on 18 years. This song affects me deeply and after some consideration, I'm going to go ahead and say it is my favorite So Ji-Sub song.

To explain my thoughts on 18 years, I think it would be helpful for me to explain how my deep affection for So Ji-Sub began, grew and morphed (and how this song specifically played into that).
I haven't been a fan of So Ji-Sub for years and years like some of you. I wish I could say I was, but I was first introduced to him in The Master's Sun. I absolutely thought his performance was genius, but I didn't watch him in anything else until about a 9 months later. It was my intention after The Master's Sun to watch him in I'm Sorry I Love You, but to be honest, I was scared to watch it because I knew it was going to be very sad. Finally, I had the courage to watch it. I'm a very emotional watcher you see, and easily get roped in by good acting. Well, I was captivated by Ji-Sub and fell in love with his performance. I needed more of him, and I wanted to see him in a variety of roles. So then I moved on to Road No. 1 and was blown away by him once again. Next I moved on to Love Of A Thousand Years, Cain and Abel, Sophie's Revenge, Always, Rough Cut, We Are Dating now... but I still wasn't familiar with him as an singer, and hadn't watched that many interviews yet.
That's around the time when I discovered his music, and the very first song I heard was 18 years. My first impression from the song alone (not seeing the video) was "Wow... this is amazing. He can really rap". It was smooth, intense, great beat, but I had no clue what it was about (but it did sound very deep). I started listening to it every day and loved it, so I needed to see the video.
I watched the video and I was speechless. Based on the visuals and his body language I interpreted that he was a puppet who felt empty and was being controlled by outside influences. Yet there was another part of him, that did have a personality and wanted to come out.
Without understanding the lyrics, I thought a message was still very clearly conveyed through the video itself. What I was still ignorant of however, was how deep and personal these lyrics really were.
Finally I decided to hunt down the lyrics so I could fully appreciate the song.

18 Years -So Ji Sub (소지섭) Feat. Saetbyul (샛별)
In the repetition of frustration daysIn the room that is a dark TVI wanted to escape for a momentIs this greed? Will it ever happen? For 18 years, I actedFor 18 years, I lived with a maskFor 18 years, I was confused between what was real or notI look in the mirror and ask, who are you?Started hip-hop with DeuxStarted work by coincidenceDo we make money in order to live?I’m like an empty glassIn front of the camera, my smile looks lonelyEven though things might seem crazyJust like my childhood when I went against the currentsI want to be refreshed but I am exhausted by the frustrationI’m wrapped up inside this square boxI want to fly out to the world but I’m struggling in placeJust like a sinner, I’m always hanging my head lowI want to look up to the sky, feeling frustrated every dayNow the situation has changed but the loneliness grows deeperIt gets hard even to breathe
The hot interest and attention toward you makes you run out of breathIt may be hard but the painful times are just momentary(Everyone is waiting for me)Even if I run out of breath and it gets hardI want to find myself
For 18 years, they only want a smiling faceFor 18 years, my heart is secretly cryingFor 18 years, I’m a clown who has sold his soulWithout knowing, I’m getting tired little by littleEver since “Rough Cut,” I opened my eyes to filmBut the eyes of the world gave me even more pressureIf I give a friendly approach, I’m viewed as cool and niceIf I don’t speak and get quiet, I’m a rude actorThey listen to what they want, look at what they wantIf not, they coldly point fingers and leave meThey don’t care about me, they just want fun gossipThey shut their eyes and ears, just like alwaysI’m not allowed to hurt anyone in the littlest wayBut instead, I’m tattooed with those scars and engrave the pain in my bodyPretending to be cool, pretending to be greatI don’t want to do that anymore, I want to find the real me
The hot interest and attention toward you makes you run out of breathIt may be hard but the painful times are just momentary(Everyone is waiting for me)Even if I run out of breath and it gets hardI want to find myself

My fellow So Ji-Sub friends, I froze. I read the lyrics and I literally froze. I was beyond stunned. I sat motionless. I wanted to cry, my heart ached, I felt horrible. I felt so horrible that Ji-Sub has been suffering 18 years this way. Above all, I felt guilty. I felt guilty, because here I was, enjoying all his movies and dramas being completely unaware of how it's made him feel, of what he's had to go through, of how constantly having to pretend on and off screen has caused him to question his own identity. So I sat quietly and read through the lyrics again. Then again with the music ... and again. After really digesting everything, I just felt such awe, admiration, and respect for him. I was so proud of him for writing down his very personal thoughts and sharing it bravely with the world. He puts himself right out there with this song. He exposed himself and  I was just so proud of him for that. I kept thinking, "Well done". I also started feeling a sense of relief, because often with sharing comes healing. Can you imagine if he kept this bundled inside for another 18 years?
Needless to say, this song made Ji-Sub feel so much more real to me. He's human like all the rest of us, and he goes through pressure that most of us will never be able to fully fathom. He's a talented actor, but he's more than just an actor. He's a talented rapper, he's creative, he's poetic, and from what I've grown to know he's a really interesting, unique person.
Now I don't only look at Ji-Sub as an actor. This song has opened my eyes to his vulnerability and humanity. His rap is an outlet and I'm so glad he has that outlet so that he doesn't have to suffer in silence, going through the motions, forever a puppet to the masses.
... and that's what 18 years means to me.
  10. So Ji-Sub - You Are My Fantasy featuring Soul Dive

This is one of my favorite So Ji-Sub songs, but I really didn't know what it was about beyond the title so I went in search of lyrics. I couldn't find any English lyrics, so I google translated the Korean lyrics I found. I was going to post the google translate version here, but it's a little sexy with a bit of mild profanity so I figured I better not.
If you want to google translate for yourself, I found the hangul version here: http://lovemikoforever.blogspot.ca/2014/06/so-ji-sub-feat-soul-dive-your-fantasy.html
I do have to say though, this song is much sexier than I thought!
Awesome song. I like everything about it. The rap sounds on point. The beat is sick (I mean that in a good way, like awesome). I originally thought it had a bit of a dark feel to it, but after getting a bit of understanding of the lyrics, it's more of a hot-sexy-modern-underground feel. Take what I say with a grain of salt, because it's only my own personal interpretation. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks.
  11. It's very difficult for me to pick a favorite So Ji-Sub song because I enjoy all his songs, and I like each song for different reasons.
Some are deep, some are fun, some make me happy, some make me reflect and so on.
So Love is my favorite song to listen to while I'm driving. I like to blast it nice and loud. It makes me feel so happy and it's really upbeat. It never fails to plaster a huge smile across my face. I play it on repeat until I arrive back home.
    id="watch-headline-title" class="yt" style="margin: 0px 0px 10px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-size: 24px; color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-weight: normal; overflow: hidden; font-family: arial, sans-serif; background: rgb(255, 255, 255);"So love - So Ji-Sub, Soul Dive

I really like the So Love video because we get to see Ji-Sub look so happy in his element, doing something he really enjoys, expressing himself through music. It's really nice how they pieced a bunch of footage together.
That smile gets me every time, and doesn't he look so cool? I like him in a suit, but I have a real weakness for him with his cap, tattoos exposed, sunglasses, rapping from the heart. Aren't his stage clothes and his laid back rapper look the coolest? I would totally parade around the house in a 51K sparkly rap hoodie.
Ahhh, but really, I just love it all. Sorry everyone, I'm fangirling real hard right now. This brings me so much joy.
Hey @chakita babe - I'm melting again haha. I have zero chill some days.
  12. @sara62 Omo!!! I love, love, love this song (Picnic)! Jisub-nim's voice is like red velvet frosting! It's rich and creamy and so delicious!
I've been really looking forward to this week where we discuss So Ji-Sub's music. I'm a big fan of Korean rap, but I also love how unique Ji-Sub's voice is. No other rapper I listen to sounds like him. His voice is warm and his lyrics flow beautifully in his mellow, even tone. Also, he has so much style, effortlessly without trying, it's unbelievable.
One of the songs I really like is Lonely Life 고독한 인생 (G Project) even though it's an older one. You hear this song at the end of the Movie Rough Cut (my favorite So Ji-Sub movie btw). When I first heard this song I loved it instantly and was completely impressed by his singing ability. It sounds so good and his voice is very soothing (even though the song itself indeed does sound lonely).  T.T

Then I saw the video and wow! Ji-Sub looks great but the video is quite sad and it's extremely well done. In this 5 minute video it's like watching him in a full length movie because it's acted so marvelously. I love how he smiles at first, but then his expression changes dramatically, and then ends with a smirk.
  13. Ji Hyung-Do's smile - A Company Man

@sara62 You mentioned in a previous post how much you love Ji Hyung-Do's smile
I totally agree with your comments about his smile. Those moments where he looks happy are so precious and they make me in return feel happy. So Ji-Sub has the cutest, most lovely smile. I love watching him smile whether it's as himself or while he's in character.

Here's another cute moment of Ji Hyung-Do smiling in A Company Man

By the way, I apologize; I tried to quote your former post, but I ended up really mixing up the code.

  14. Ji Hyung-Do Eats Spicy Food - A Company Man

Since there's a lot of intensity in this movie, I thought it would be kinda fun to look at a lighter, funnier moment.
So, Ji Hyung-Do is sitting and having a meal with Ra-Hoon and his family. While he starts eating, he is caught off guard by how spicy the food is and struggles as he eats it. a-company-man-spicefood1.png
    a-company-man-spicefood21.png

    a-company-man-spicefood3.png
But if that meat wasn't spicy enough, then he bites into what looks like a hot pepper...a-company-man-spicefood4.png
    a-company-man-spicefood5.png
    a-company-man-spicefood62.png

Poor Hyung-Do. Not only was the food extremely spicy but he ends up spitting it out while coughing which must have been embarrassing. They all enjoy a little chuckle at his expense.
