Celebrities are entitled to the same general right of privacy that extends to all individuals. The daily lives of celebrities generate a higher level of interest on the part of the public than unknown people. I understand that actors and actresses strive for international recognition worldwide. However, a general consent does not justify invasions into every aspect of an individual's life. Many will argue that because individuals such as SO JI SUB are famous, they chose to forfeit their right to privacy. But "PRIVACY" is an intrinsic social value that is the right of every human being. Therefore, why should fans and the media keep pushing the envelope when it comes to upholding this value? SO JI SUB did not ask to become famous; he simply excelled at acting. His privacy should not be taken away, even with his celebrity status. People think because you're famous they have the right to know everything about you.I completely disagree because regardless of social class, an "INDIVIDUAL" must always be treated with "RESPECT."

  2. Thank you @littlekoala. I forgot for one min that those CFs are supposed to air on TV and they don't show tattoos. Although there's the same policy in my country too. Personally, I don't like the way they view tattooing. They treat it as doing something inappropriate while it's about your personal taste. Anyway, as long as Jisub-nim has many CFs and is active, it's okay. Happiness for us. Wish they (people, TV policies and all) let the celebrities to breathe a bit and be themselves rather than what the public want them to be.

@sara62‌ Frankly, I am not a big fan of tatoos and I love his flawless skin, so I wish he would not get anymore. :(( Nontheless, I do also think it's his way of breathing and expressing himself in that crazy world of entertainment. The fact is, He already knew getting tatoos will hinder him some bit. He once said that tatto is the obstacle he has given himself for his acting career. I guess he needed something, perhaps some impetus, to go on by that time he first got the tatoo.

In addition, it's just my opinion but I personally think those PDs and writers he had worked with somehow made him to find a way to not to reveal his bare skin on TV. :(( While watching his old works I was shocked that almost every characters before 2012 revealed his upper body. Some scenes seemed to be needed and proper but there seemed to be unnecessary ones too. I was especially stunned by the shower scene in Cain&Abel. After watching that I kinda began to understand him getting tattos, I guess. Unlike many celebrities with good body seem to be accustomed to or even enjoying exposure, Jisub-nim :) does not like to expose his body without the adequate reason. For he is an actor of course he would do some revealing scenes if that should be necessary for his character and his work. However, when it would be just for some eye-candying scene, it must've been different case I guess. Well, it's just my speculations though :)

Anyway, I am just glad that nothing, even his tatoos which is the self-giving obstacle, cannot stop him from anything. I mean, look how much successful and wanted he is in the Ent. business. After the Master's Sun, he got 6 more new commercials (Monuel, Asahi Super Dry, Archimedes, Xero, Acafela, Cheese) with No giant agency and No manipulating the media. It's excessively competitve cruel world where villains make up scandals and rumors to take you down. But even in that jungle, he is standfast and always upright and royal. He even gave the obstacle himself but even that does not hamper him. More and more he is just trying to be himself, but everyone wants him. And this is his achievement of those steadily hardworking 18years. I'm so glad and proud of Jisub-nim. :)

  3. Wonder why his tattoos are covered and why he's exercising. So that Cheese CF is real? I wasn't sure if it was an April's fool day joke.

@sara62 I'm not sure about that picture of the April fool's day either. Considering its poor quality, it was someone's joke or maybe it was one of those bad cuts that should've been thrown out.

But apparently it is true that Jisub's new CF for Seoul Milk Cheddar Cheese will be out soon.

This pic was uploaded on the instagram with the message: "Yesterday at the So Jisub's commercial shooting scene :D He's unrealistic b/c he's just so handsome." (translation mine)

I don't know about the concept of the CF but perhaps its one of those commercials which focuses healthy life style. I guess they chose So Jisub because he has the wannabe face as well as body :)

And about the tatoo... Korean TV does rarely allow tatoo to be seen. It's kinda banned so it should be either covered up or deleted with CG.

OMG **TEARS** Poor SJS.  That girl broke his heart.  Is that girl " kim hyun joo"? I read some where that she had a crush on SSH while SJS was into her. From her last interview, Kim Hyun Joo said that she hasn't talk to SJS in a long time and she asked him to call her if he's watching the interview "WTH"?

Didn't think it might make people guess or spread rumors. It was my mistake posting such a thing here. That's why I deleted it. I just posted it to point out their lovely friendship nothing else. But it was not a wise move. As a fan I never ever want to do something to harm him. That's why I asked that friend to delete her post. You also delete that part of interview from your post. I apologize for posting that. Will be more careful from now on.

SSH has a new movie coming out this May.  Hopefully, we'll get to see SJS as one of the attendees at the VIP premier.

  8. I think I read it rather too late, but the discussion of compatible or desired actress for
SJS's next role was quite interesting :)

First of all, I acknowledge everyone has one's own taste and can have different views on acting. However, in my opinion, when it comes to evaluating or ranking Korean actors and actresses, his or her beauty takes great part. Its importance is more than you think in casting and getting production support, and that's why unwatchable actors/actresses are still working no matter how much they suck. Of course, there are few exceptions, for there’s always a powerful agency which could manipulate the media. But in general, almost no one can have the superstardom without a good looking since it’s the basic grounding for being an entertainer in Korea. I absolutely admire SJS's virtuoso performance, but if he were not that great looking it’s possible even he wouldn't be where he is now.

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but those who are recognized as unarguably top stars are almost all in their 30s or 40s and had been in their business for more than a decade.  Yes, there are some famous stars in their 20s, but in fact they are still rising and their positions are somewhat unstable. There are numerous variables such as an absence due to mandatory military service, scandals, failures, lawsuits with their agencies, marriage, aging, and so on. One who can endure this rather chaotic period and maintain his or her place is very few, so he/she is called the 'top' star.

But ironically, the more it seems secured, the more risks wait for them. Those investors invest their money for his/her name value's sake, and viewers expect to see a higher quality of drama or movie when it stars the top star. Criteria for measuring success is harsher and even unforgiving, so failing to meet those expectations leaves tremendous damage to actors. In a big picture, even those top stars are not free from falling down after all: the higher up, the greater fall. Thus, even if he/she was a great success 10 or 5 years ago, there's no guarantee audience and the industry would still consider him/her like that now. Actor's, especially actress' age is crucial factor in one's career since there is not that many roles for the late 30s or 40s. What is worse, beauty tends to fade away as time goes by. It's not fair but that's how the business works.

Come to think of it, actresses I like are mostly in their late 30s or even in 40s, and I can’t be sure if they are right for SJS’ opposite role because there are just so many things to consider. Some seem to be losing her position, others seem to have limited spectrum of acting talent. Most of actors/actresses are good at acting the genre which gave them the stardom. There are not that many who even dare and success in other genres. Often times one cannot go beyond his/her hit character. Taking off the image of previous one is not that easy. SJS has many successful works and their genres are disparate, and he is in fact a rare case when you consider he is the top star who has a lot to lose. After the hit series, some actors do not work for very long time not only becuase it’s hard for them to find another role which promises success but also the fear of challenging and losing what he/she has now is monumental.

Anyway, as much as choosing a next role must be difficult for SJS, selecting his next partner is not that easy. The more I think, I can’t help but conclude that it’s more likely she would be below his level than on the same level. It's fundamentally because he is on the summit. Rarely the industry makes the film or drama with more than one top actor. Of course, there are always hero and heroine, but when you look closely, many are by no means equal partners. With the exception of What Happened in Bali, I don’t think not a single one of SJS's previous leading works shared equally balanced weight with his co-stars. It’s because top actor/actress is basically the one who is alway the center of attention and who will lead the story. Often times, thus, he/she should work with someone below than his/her level and should take the responsibility of its success/failure. No offense to them, but that's why most of his past works' partners were not on the same level as he. What he needs is not the co-star who would lead him, but the one who would support him. This goes the same for another top actor/actress. That’s why, unless the drama will focus a heroine instead of a hero, younger actresses seem to have better opportunities. It’s true actresses in their 30s often work with actors in 20s thesedays, but that means those older females are top stars who kept their beauty and position so well and they would have to lead the play.

I think SoJiSub’s responsibility and burdens on his shoulders should probably be greater than what we fans imagine. I guess this is why he constanly asks himself questions like "Sometimes I think, what kind of role would I have to do so that they will simply see my acting and not my visual?" I’ve thought about his acceptance speech at the SBS Award, and it makes me sad that he suffers because he is too hard on himself, but at the same time, I appreciate him for still doing that after all these years. Even I sometimes wonder if there’s anything left for him to acheive. I mean, it’s hard to name another top actor or top star who surpasses him. His career is at its zenith for more than a decade now. No matter what the quality is and no matter who the co-star is, his name itself is the brand which sells the movie and drama. But still, he distresses himself with those questions and I respect his neverending professional zeal. If he were one of mindless actors who just mechanically repeats what he/she is accustomed to, or if he were one of conceited ones who belives in his/her talent or stardom as much as to don't bother to learn lines and act extemporaneously on the set; SoJiSub I know now wouldn't be existing and I wouldn’t be his fan. :)

SoJiSub mentioned once on an interview that he is not afraid of the moment when people do not want him anymore because he would step down the ladder one by one as he did when he climbed up. I think this is how he could not lose himself in that crazy competitive entertainment business, and I deeply admire and appreciate him for that. :x

Sorry, I rambled too much ^:)^

  9. @sara62 @damifino

Yeah, I get what you are saying and what you want.
It was actually what I suspected in my mind when I first wrote my long long message (I didn't notice it was that long until I posted. Sorry about that).

As what fans really want is to check his upcoming news and info more easily, it seems this want of opening an twitter or facebook would be satisfied if the 51K site offers English version of it.
I don't know why they can't do that right now, but I assume managing a foreign language version of the official site should be not that easy. SJS is also represented by a small self-management company, so this could be hard.
Maybe, opening an English version of SNS would be the best choice in this situation...
I acknowledge the needs and purposes behind this petition.
I also think it would be good in a way because this could be a chance to let SJS know there are that many international fans out there. :)

But still, if my hesitation towards another SNS account remains, it is due to my concern that it might be wrongfully used by some anti-fans or news reporters.
Although it would probably be under the name of his 51K staff management, anyone including anti-fans could still send malicious mentions to that account.
Any pictures on the SNS could also be used by those lazy and reckless news reporters to write whatever they have in their filthy crazy minds.

I guess I'm too worried about negative effects more than the positive ones.
Maybe I'm just overreacting, but I cannot help but to think of the worst case of senario as well as the best one because I know what the media and people are capable of.
I mean, it's been only several months since we all saw how the scandalous rumor was fabricated.
They could just make stories up from things that have nothing do to with SJS and sadly people did not seem to care what the truth was.
Well, call me an overprotective fan, but I just don't want him to ever face that again.
Even if I am aware I am incapable of doing that, somehow I still want to eliminate any chances. :((

But, in the end, it is So Ji Sub who would decide what would be best for him and his fans.
Frankly, I am both worried and looking forward to the result of this on-going petition.
In any way, I hope it would turn out great. :)

  10. It's only my opinion, but I think SJS's creating weibo account has something to do with his Chinese agency. While reviewing old news articles, I read one of famous and big agencies in China had a contract with him in 2011. I believe there was actually one news report that he was going to shoot Chinese historical drama, but apparently it must've got cancelled as he never did shoot that. Of course, in order to open the weibo account SJS should approve and agree with the idea, but I think it has something to do with his Chinese management agency and China's recent hallyu fever as well. I don't know why but somehow Korean news articles talk about hallyu wave in China more and more thesedays, and it seems China is becoming one of biggest market for the entertainment business. Maybe the government loosened its restrictions or something?
With upcoming termination of his contract with Japanese agency, I think something is changing.

The reason I think that is due to the fact that his opening an account is rather falling a step behind when you consider he already had the Chinese agency which represented him all these years. Also, TMS was undoubtedly hit drama not only in Korea but also in foreign countries, especially in China. If he were to concern about the number of followers and use it to publicize himself as the vanguard of hallyu just like other Korean actors are now competing to do it everyday, he should've opened it last year when those fans were crazy about JooGun. Nonetheless, he did not and now he opens the weibo all of sudden. Yes, it is possible that he just had a change of his mind or something, but I can't help but think something about his management contract regarding foreign countries is changing. Well, we will see.

Besides, I heard that Chinese government censors and blocks many sites like twitter, facebook, youtube, naver, and so on. This means that his Chinese fans have tremendous troubles to just search information about SJS. I don't know if Chinese fans could contact and freely surf the 51K site, but I think it may be plausible they might have some difficulties there too. As he has a such sweet heart as we all know, I suspect that's why he chose weibo other than twitter or facebook if he had to or wanted to start the SNS. Opening any of other accounts would've probably meant adding another hardship to Chinese fans.

Don't get me wrong. I know why you guys want SJS to open a twitter or facebook account. I myself was bewildered at first with the news of his weibo. I couln't help but to think why Chinese SNS after all this time? Frankly, I was satisfied with his having No SNS. In these days, using internet is crucial to celebrities. However, news reporters and people including anti-fans are constantly watching celebrities' SNS 24/7. Just one picture or one comment mistakenly uploaded could both prosper or ruin his entire career. I know he is very sincere and prudent person, but I just didn't want him to face that kind of danger. I mean, there are so many bother him already, so I wished he could at least be free with his cyberspace.

Moreover, he has the website of his own which is the 51K site, and it seems he enjoys posting there. There are so many celebrities in Korea who has twitter, facebook, and websites; however, SJS seems to be the only one who really wants to use his own cyberspace to communicate with his fans. What he does is not some perfuntory greetings on some special occasions. I don't actually have an account for the 51K site, but from those 51K pictures and his writings you guys bring here I still get a feeling that he is really trying to share whatever he can with his fans. I mean, I never heard of any celebrity, especially a top star, who shares his experience of cooking, travelling, books, movies, and even of his pets with his fans.

I don't know why he opened the SNS account, but I assume his making that account under the name of the 51k staff, not under his own name, had some reasons. I heard that it took months to get Sina weibo's approval to officially start the 51K staff management weibo. Last night, I tried joining the weibo although I had to get some help from the google translator. It took me not that long time to make mine. It got me to think that there should be a reason he chose to do it not with his own name which would've been quicker and easier, but with his company's name.

With the petition, maybe he would agreed to open some other SNS or maybe not.
No matter what the result would be, I just hope nobody would be disappointed.

Also, even if he does begin another SNS, I don't think it would be much different from reading his postings at the 51K. By looking at his website, you could tell he likes to share things with his fans. However, he does not seem to like sharing that with the media or using them to publicize himself. We all know how trifling entertainment news articles regarding celebrities' everyday lives can be. There are just tons of things to publicize if only SJS chooses to do that, but he never does that. That's why I don't think he would use that twitter to communicate with his friends or to write his thoughts. Honestly, I hope that would never happen since there are just so many risks in doing that and I want him to have some privacy as well. Well, I guess luckily I am happy with what SJS offers right now :)

Even in his hardest situation, he remained decent. So even now after years, his older dramas, his small roles are enjoyable to watch. Someone commented in one website "he might be embarrassed now to watch himself with that haircut in Thousand years of love." And I want to tell her he was trying his best. What about trying your best is embarrassing?

  12. sara62 said: @littlekoala Welcome back friend. Missed you.
Yeah, even now he's different from others. There are other actors who want to be mysterious and don't appear in verity shows or on TV. But to me most of them do it for maintaining their image. Maybe they are scared of showing a bit of their real self to people. But Hottie is different. He doesn't want to be mysterious. He just doesn't like to be in the spotlight. He's not scared of talking about his real feelings. When I watch his earlier works I can't help but being impressed. You don't need to be a genius to see how talented he is. He's full of a strange charm that I can't describe with words. He has a strong presence. Just don't get why the producers, directors, his partners couldn't see that. Eight years of suffering in the industry? A genius like him? Unbelievable. Those eyes are like a lake. Beautiful, sad, calm. Even I as a fan can feel that. Let alone the producers. Those....... people.
We both go and grab that producer by hair, bring him in front of our Ji Sub and make him repeat 2920 (8 multiple 365) times "Ji Sub's eyes are beautiful." Stupid man.

  13. sara62 said: We are dating now
Tonight I watched "We are dating now" ep 1. No. It's not a good drama. Don't like the girl. TBH, I just watched SONICK's parts. He's been very beautiful, talented, charismatic and of those you-never-can-forget from the get-go. He even uses the same hand gestures in a scene too. I just don't get. I try to understand. But I can't get the reason. Why he's been unknown for 8 years. Why they couldn't see his talents. Even if you just consider his looks, he was very beautiful even then. With those deep eyes. When I watch him it feels like he's a bit afraid. So he can't show his full potentials. It must have been very hard for him given he has hard time talking about himself to others. Watching him I thought 'if he wasn't strong enough to bear difficulties and quit acting, Korea would have lost his biggest star and I would have drag that person who told him "you can't succeed because of those eyes" by hair!"

The same talent, the same beauty and a real star from the beginning."hey, producers, how didn't you notice that back then?"
