  1. I really like the way SIK is raising his kids. As early as now he teaches them the value of sharing, manners and respect. As a viewer it touches me when I see them sharing their food with the dinosaur uncles without their Dad telling them to share, saying thank you (although not all the time but then their still kids and will surely learn to make a habit of saying thank you as they grow up) and greeting properly. I am confident that they will grow up into proper young men that all mom's in Korea would want for a son-in-law.

  2. toys inside ice blocks seems to be a success as it showed that it kept the triplets occupied for a while. SIG really comes well prepared. It's also a nice idea for families going on camping or picnic trips and can also be turned into a competitive game.

For some reason, this reminded me of an episode of Running Man where they competed to melt a big block of ice.

  3. Off Topic: is that VJ Kwon from Running Man? Yoo Jae Suk's official VJ? really small world for K Variety shows :D

Appa Song really seems slimmer now, compared to how he looks a month ago. Not surprising as his new drama will be starting filming soon.

  4. True.  I meant in the context of filming where he can share his parenting styles with the viewers.  Otherwise they would not grow as big as they are now without protein in their diets. It is actually amazing that his kids at their age can enjoy eating vegetables for meals when most are picky eaters and stick to fried foods or processed foods for meals.

I agree! Their so big for their age, his doing a good job teaching his kids to eat different kind of foods and their not picky at all.:D

  5. in addition:

The kids only get to eat meat when they are outside filming.... it could be an x-deal with the restaurant owner for free advertisement or the expenses will be shouldered by the production.

I think SIG and wifey are generous when it comes to food. He mentioned before that he used to give them only premium korean beef until he realized how expensive it would be in the long run . Also on his first episode when he went grocery shopping with them, his wife called him to buy beef brisket for the kids soup. So yes they eat meat often, but we should also credit the parents for trying their best to give them healthy foods like vegetables and fruits,

I think SIG pays for all the food they eat and activities they do on the show. It was mentioned during that grocery errand episode they did, when Minguk filled his basket with bread that appa il guk payed for all of it.

I think the only time KBS steps in to shoulder the expenses are for those activities that the production impose on the families, such as the one in Jeju and when SIG and the kids went to Japan. I also think that KBS shoulder's the expenses of Sarang and family whenever they shoot in Korea.

  6. I agree!!!

Regarding how his parenting style will affect how other parents raise their kids. While I agree that not all parents can afford a trip to Japan or rent a luxury camping tent or trailer like SIK does, not everything he does is expensive to do. Example of this :

    * The puppet show- all it takes is a creative imagination and willingness to do silly stuff.

    * Reading to them.

    * Playing hide and seek with them.

    * The treasure hunt game during the second camping trip can be done anywhere.

    * Nurturing their imagination through play acting and drawing on a foggy window.

    * He bought them pants from an outdoor market vendor. The triplets also reuses clothes they wear on the show. That brown stuff Sunghoon bought for them in Jeju would probably be used and reused for as long as they fit the kids.

    * He teaches them to respect and share with others. There are many instances where the kids shared their food with the camera men without any prodding from their father.

    * He does not buy them expensive toys. They use their body and imaginations to play.

  7. probably just one of those toy glasses or maybe it's appa's,  in the second pic he is no longer wearing them.  I wonder what they are running away from? a puppy perhaps, funny that they are afraid of small dogs but not dinosaurs :D

I noticed that SIG is filming episodes of ROS on almost a daily basis now, in the previous episodes in the salon, he mentioned something about manse being a country rat yesterday and today he becomes a city rat. So I assume that episode and the one in the countryside were filmed back to back. His probably preparing lots of advanced episodes since he will soon be busy with filming his new drama.

The new family looks interesting, but despite their huge number, Lee Dong Wook have it easy, the 2 oldest girls are old enough to look after their younger sibling and help in cleaning after the 3 younger one's. He still can't beat Song Il Gook who sometimes must utilize both hands and feet to keep hold of the triplets which is always funny to watch. Since they both live in Songdo I look forward to a joint episode between this 2 appa's soon. That would be super fun and super chaotic :D

I thought the same way too.. HAHAHAHAHAHA... BOYS, you owe your father soooooo much!

Anyway, although i'm happy to hear the news he do both TROS and drama, i think he probably reconsider sign off of TROS on January 2016, before the drama on air. Even if the shoot begin somewhere between this August and aired on January 2016, it will be a very long saeguk drama so i assumed that the filming will take some time. SIK will step down from TROS early next year, i supposed.

Well, let's get used to it ladies..

I think it's only going to be 26 episodes long (not confirmed yet but I'm quite sure it's not going to be in the epic scale of Jumong) So it's possible to do what CTH did, do drama and variety at the same time. Since they stated it will be aired in January 2016, chances are this drama would be filmed in advance, even if they start filming in September or October, they would still have 2 mos. buffer time to pre-film episodes for ROS before SIK gets busy with both drama filming and ROS recording. By the time it premieres, they probably have done at least half of the 26 episodes already.

  9. are those pic new? I can still see love handles on Appa SIK :D But in previous episodes he seems to have lost a considerable amount of weight already. The boys are so cute....even without ROS I bet they will get considerable amount of attention from passerby because of their natural charm and everyone who sees a dad biking or running with 3 kiddie carts attached will definitely stop for a while to watch in fascination and admiration even if they do not realize that appa is a celebrity.

  10. lurker here. :D

This is good news indeed. But before we all worry to death about them leaving so soon, we must also consider the fact that it's gonna be produced by KBS too, I'm sure a compromise on schedule is possible, even if it means having the higher ups intervene between drama and variety department. SIK and the triplets contribution to ROS is significant to warrant such special treatment that is unless SIK himself thinks it's not worth the trouble of overworking himself.

Besides the title and it being a saeguk, no other info has been released yet. If its beyond 25 episodes chances are he may sacrifice one show for the other. Less than that and it's possible for him to appear on both programs provided he cut back on other activities and do advance filming for ROS. I think besides preparing for the triathlon, SIK exerted effort to lose weight because he wants to go back to work (acting) again. Maybe he has been secretly preparing for this for months already and the "looking favorably" press release is just to create a buzz for the new project. They do that all the time. For all we know they have already filmed enough footages for ROS to last for a couple of months. :D
