  1. Can someone explain how Sa Do Chan went from being a wanted criminal for the "attempted murder" of Geum Tae Wong, and impersonating a prosecutor, to walking around freely and even standing in the courtroom and at the courthouse in the last scene????

Did I miss how he was acquitted? First they show him in hiding, then all of the sudden he is walking around freely.

What did I miss, or is everyone suspending disbelief and not questioning this key point?

  2. There are many popular actors and actresses working today, but only a handful of them have CHARISMA - that unknown "X"factor that makes them a star.

Ji Chang Wook is one of the actors that has it.

His Voice has a powerful yet soothing range, with and infectious laugh.  His facial structure an body build are superbly photogenic. His real personality seems delightful.  What a winning combination!  His managers and executives are well aware of his mass appeal.  He should be able to pick plum roles in the coming years. He was superb in "Empress Ki" and is super in "Healer".  The script and direction of "Empress Ki" got weaker and weaker, but the cast of actors was so good....we kept watching. That was probably a career turning point for him....more so than "Warrior Baek Dong Soo" was.  Now, he OWNS "Healer".....fortunately he has great costars and so far a great script and direction.  Ji Chang Wook's future is really, really bright. I would love to see him in another historical drama and play a really strong character in it.  I wish him great health and happiness and a LONG successful future in the business!

  3. I had to take a break from this drama for the last couple of episodes because of all the insane Min-Soo back and forth, is he, isn't he stuff, but I will watch it through when it gets subbed.

In the mean time, I just watched  "Accidental Couple / That Fool" and if anyone wants to watch a feel good, absolutely wonderful drama, watch that one!  The actor, Hwang Jung Min was outstanding and the story was wonderfully done and a great ending too!  I highly  recommend!

  4. -"Big":  Interesting concept, terribly done.

-Anything by the Hong sisters:  I know a lot of people love their dramas, but for me they are dumber than dumb, except for "Greatest Love" because of the main actor's campy rendition of his character.

-"Feast of the Gods";  a bunch of crazy people who don't seem to realize they are crazy.

-"Don't Hesitate":  I can't believe I watched this horrible soap opera mess.

-"Dr. Jin":  I wish I could get the image of Dr. Jin's bug-eyed look of shock, which occurred every other scene, out of my head.

    -"Faith":  interesting concept, terribly done.

-"Monstar":  A bunch of narcissistic teens singing songs. End of story.

    -"Boys over Flowers":  Seriously....

    -"Nail Shop Paris":  Pathetic

  5. Yes, it seems that after episode 11, after No Min Woo entered the story, the plot got hijacked and went the stupid route, and went off course from the original drama and script.

The opening scene, at the fall of Goguryeo, the Princess was alive.  Then we have the fortuneteller's prediction, which in Kdramaland is pretty good foreshadowing.  Then Joye agency and Geumhwaden  all of the sudden go stupid in the last scene.  Also, Nam Saeng historically did survive, but was not apparently so powerful in Goguryeo, and left for Tang, so it was not historical necessity that he have such a stupid ending - not even wounded.  His father lived until 666, but got badly wounded in the story, but the dumb twerp Nam Saeng/ No Min Woo doesn't even get scratched? Pfft.....we viewers don't take this kind of manipulative cr*p by No Min Woo's agency and the Kdrama industry.  Forget it.  This stinks.  No Min Woo and his agency are off of my list of anything to watch!

  6. Ok...now that I have recovered form the last scene......I can think about the last episodes.

    Oh....Writers and Director...SHAME ON YOU!

Is that the best you could do????? I think NOT!  First - the horribly mis-cast No Min Woo overriding everyone there?  Really?  His father or the Prefect or just about anyone there could have easily smacked him down.  Did No Min Woo's agency stipulate the ending to feature him?  This drama was WAY out of his league.  He does not have the skills to portray such an opponent, making the whole thing comical and absurd.  Surely anyone there could have squashed him like a fly - so it is all so unbelievable.

Then - everyone just standing around at the end....REALLY?  Geumhewaden, the King, the General, the Prefect, all the Ministers....just standing there....doing nothing.....Director you failed that scene, that very important ending scene so horribly - VERY BADLY DONE, Director!

I feel badly for the main actors - Uhm Tae Woong, Choi Min Soo and Kim Ok Bin who were exceptional!  It seems as though No Min Woo's agency coerced this drama into centering around him, because everything seemed to fall apart after he came into the story and his terrible acting stood out like a screaming sore thumb.  Was there some funding agreement with his agency that created this mess?

Whatever it was, it ruined this drama and again I say... Writers and Director...SHAME ON YOU!

  7. Oh....and yet another episode (19) that confirms how inadequate No Min Woo is in the role of Nam Saeng.  It would have been really interesting to see some powerful actor take on this role and give it some real tension and meaning.  No Min Woo is just too ridiculous - I mean he looks and acts  like some  whiny transvestite.

Oh dear....how will this all wind up.  I still say send Nam Saeng to Tang and just leave him there. He ends up there anyway.

Both KN and BH lie to HN and YC. YC goes why does it feel like things are not resolved?

They fast forwarded the 5 dates and doctor Hong asks SJ if she is still leaving? SJ goes they need five more dates. They discuss things and EO/JH sees them together. EO tells doctor hong to get out of her face. EO tells SJ that she can't see him because doctor hong is minsoo. She states that she messed around with the genetics tests and everything. SJ goes she can't support her mom any more because she is going to ruin the whole family.

KN is thinking about BH and his brother. His wife is telling him it may be wise to keep it a secret, but there is no such thing as a secret that stays a secret in kdramas.

There is a huge family moment between HN and YC's families.

SJ leaves her family and tells her dad that the genetics results could have been fradulent. EO rushes to doctor hong and states his dirty blood is the reason why her life has been horrible. BH and BS find out that the results were never fradulent, the genetics doctor states he played along. The results were real. Doctor Hong and HN were switched at birth.

YS and DJ take the kid to get his stitches removed. They encounter the secretary and JH. The secretary is now pregnant.

EO is sitting in her bed and thinking about things. Doctor Hong is called in, and she asks him Doctor Hong if YC and HN are still together. EO runs to HN and calls him to find out if he knows the reason why he can't get married to YC.

The preview has BH telling either BS or someone that EO is going to tell HN. DJ discovers that the secretary and YS' friend have a closer relationship than what they know. YC states that something is going on with HN. BH rushes toward HN calling him minsoo, but the elevator door closes with HN in it.

ravebleach85 said: Very interesting. I just caught up to the whole fiasco. I believe EO is the one that got everything wrong from the beginning. HN is actually Min Soo and the whole DNA thing is all real, the doctor didn't need to fake any of the reports because they were the real results. EO thought the doctor changed the results but in reality the reports didn't need to be changed at all. But I Hope this gets all resolved soon and EO gets what she deserves.

It is really too bad that they did not cast a strong actor for the role of Nam Saeng. No Min Woo is a pop singer - and does not have the depth to give nuances to the role of Nam Saeng.  He just looks like a comical crazy twerp and is not at all convincing as a powerful figure.  To have a noble hero like Choong killed by a twerp like No Min Woo/Nam Saeng is just pathetic.  I hope the writers have another plan, but all the Nam Saeng random killings seem to be leading up to it.

  11. Well...I guess they have to drag it all out for another 9 episodes.  Soo Jin is Dr. Hong's half sister, but the witch EO has messed with everyone's lives -

(Seriously- is the Medical system in South Korea such a Corrupt mess?!?) .

EO knows who is related to whom, but this ricochet effect of the messed up DNA test is going to get real tired real fast, in fact it is already over done.  How much longer is this tired story of the DNA fiasco going to go on?

He is absolutely horrific!!!!!!

    2.  I did not see the scene after Choong and Mu Young talk at the beach - where she wakes up after seeing a child etc.  Did they edit it out in the US versions?

    3. Choong and General Yeon are incredible and so believable as father and son. Superb acting from these two.  I would love to see them work together again - perhaps if they ever make the Admiral Lee Soon Shin drama.

Where did you see this?  Was there a preview?

No Min Woo is just ruining this drama for me.  It is not that the character is evil, sadistic etc . it is the contemporary, over acted "rock star" way that he is portraying the character of Nam Seang that is just awful!  It is like the "Sword and Flower" meets "Rocky Horror Picture Show" when he is on screen. He was fine in "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" but he is SO miscast here. What a waste.

  16. Omo, Omo, Omo......OMG!  What an excellent episode!.  Beautiful, sad, exciting and tragic all at once.
Although the drama floundered a bit when Nam Seang and Mo Seol joined the cast,  the drama seems to have found its way back to the story.  Great acting here.  Sorry, No Min Woo fans - I have given that guy as fair a shot as I can, but every time he is on screen he sticks out like a sore thumb.  The actress  playing Mo Seol  has settled into the role well, and the main cast has been simply outstanding, especially Choong, Princess and Choong's father - they has been putting out fantastic performances!

I am bracing myself for the ending next week - I will have a Kleenex box ready.......sob........

  17. Oh Geez....I love the characters and the actors that portray them...but the PLOT has gone over into CraZy WaCko land!

Now Dr.  Hong's father got everything all mixed up?  Doesn't he know WHO he adopted?  The whole "who is Mi Soo" thing is too stupid.  I mean, we all know that Mi Soo is Dr. Hong,  and we knew that the three children were not her birth/biological children etc.  so this whole OH NO, can they get married or not stuff is just so crazy stupid!  What a waste of good actors.

  18. Oooooo....thank you @NEWMARIO for posting those pictures!  Love the close up of Choong and Mu Young!

I can imagine.....long pause as they gaze at each other....camera pans out of the cottage....and up to a full moon....and........well, you know.....what the fortune teller said.....

Now if only someone would ship Nam Saeng and  and Mo Seol to the Northern Provences for the rest of the drama.......

  19. This is a GREAT role for Uhmforce...he OWNS this drama!  I have not seen any of his acting before, but his acting in this drama is superb!  When we see the flashbacks, he really looks like such a younger, more tender version of himself, and the current state shows the transformation that pain has caused, but he is still a noble soul - that is his essence.

He and the actor that plays his father are carrying this drama - they both command the screen when they are on.  The princess/ Mu young is good too, but those other two just own it.

  20. I don't have anything against No Min Woo as an actor, but I do agree that he is miscast in this drama.  His build and general appearance really don't fill the role.  When casting for a role, the appearance does matter and does have to fit the character.  His build is just too slender for a warrior role.  Even as head of Joye agency, they are a warrior first.  As Choong asked when he gave the conditions for accepting the director position, "don't send us to war".

This isn't about No Min Woo fans or anti-fans, but about whether he was well cast for the role.I am neutral/favorable about him as an actor (he was fine in Pasta and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho)  but in this drama, every time he comes on screen, he seems out of place, and it is not the storyline or the script.

As far as I could tell, it is still a 20 episode drama and the start date for the drama to follow has not been listed as Sept. 5th., so I think we still have 4 episodes.

  21. Wow...episode 15 was good.  16 too, but I watched without subtitles and missed most of what went on.

Uhmforce smolders so much my screen is still smoking!  Love the interactions between Choong and the Princess/Mu Young, but so painfully sad.  The program description says it is a doomed love..... so I guess that is the way it will end.  I just hope that Choong and Mu Young have one day, at least one day to love each other without revenge and political machinations - to take with them into the afterlife and to have a bond to take into their next life.

They both clearly love each other.  Their instincts reveal it, even their actions. But - they are both so noble and so dutiful and so devoted to the higher purpose that drives each of them, that they forcefully put their love aside.  It is going to be tough to watch the end.
