I Don't know lol as far as i know U-Prince the series doesnt have BL couple so idk what is newwie doing right there

All the main couples in U-Prince are straight. However, that doesn't mean they don't have queer couples as side characters. For example in Gentle Vet (Thesis' part), there's a lesbian couple.

I honestly think that besides BL, Thailand need to produce more GL series as well, looking at how KoiDao from Hormones still remains so popular to this day. In fact, they're still more popular than many BL couples to this day even after a year that Hormones has ended.

i know about a My Bromance series coming soon but i don't know anything about it other than the title. will it be a remake of a thai movie with same title? i 've watched my bromance (movie) and i didn't particularly like it.

OT: The movie itself is based on the novel so yeah, it's basically the same storyline. But the series will have more scenes from the novel that weren't shown in the movie due to time constraint.

Who will be the actors? I'll watch it if they change the ending to HE.

If you check back my post, you can go straight to the related ig and check the actors' name (their names escape me at the moment). There's a preview too.

To everyone who has said "Thank you" to me... you're welcome! I am more than happy to share and glad that you all like them. I just couldn't keep all of it inside me, I had to share my happiness and emotional roller coaster ride. And most of the spoilers I write here are more of what the characters are thinking when they realize something. Even though Krist and Singto are superb at acting out their emotions we don't always figure all that's in their heads.

About translating the whole novel, I think that would take a lot of time for me. Plus, as an old fanfic writer myself, I don't know if I'd like someone fully translating my stories without asking for permission first. So, unless I get the okay from the author I can do it. Translating the series is another story, because fansubs have been widely accepted as long as the subber doesn't receive any monetary benefit.

I'll be back with more spoilers, gotta run!!!

Yeah I agree with you. When p'Kuda wanted to translate the Lovesick novel, she had asked for Hedshew's permission first. I believe it's common courtesy to simply ask for permission.

can u tell us more about Status and Sun&Moon? :sweatingbullets:

I believe Status The Series is still in workshop stage. I found out about it because Ssing & Oat (PerWin in Lovesick) will be in it but I'm not sure if they're going to be the main characters. Seems like it will be a musical/theatre themed. I think it will air in Sotus' time slot since it's produced with GMM.

About Sun&Moon, I've only seen it in passing while reading stuff about Sotus. I'm not even sure if that's the actual title lol. But the closest BL series to air is My Bromance The Series.

    Hi All,

I'm Acha from Malaysia. Please bare with my broken english ya.

After stalking this thread for almost 3 weeks, i finally decided to join in to express my gratitude to @delightful and @kyote that subs the series/songs for us International Fan. Also want to express my gratefulness to all the SOTUS fans that keep giving spoilers from novels, all the gifs and pictures.

I really enjoy reading all the comments. This thread is so full of information that i found myself keep coming back for more.

This is the second BL series from Thai that i was so into. Phunnoh (WWCT) still is the best OTP for me. But Krist and Singto  fast becoming my second favorites (before this it was Guhai&BaiLouYin from Addicted Series).

I was so invested in LS that i went to BKK several times for LS casts fanmeet/events. I also involved as the committee for August Fanmeet in Malaysia in Jul16. Too bad that i can't go to SOTUS Fanmeet next month.. :bawling:  (I'm going to MIR fanmeet in Malaysia on the same date).

    Can't wait for tomorrow episode!!!

    ***Fun Facts:

    1. Lovesick is my first BL movie/series ever.

    2. I'm not good in expressing myself online. So i will continues stalking and try to join in the convo as best/frequent as i can.

Hi, fellow Malaysian here. Lovesick is not my first BL drama/movie (and I have watched Thai lakorns/dramas for a long time),  but Phunnoh & WWCT have become my favourite OTP. Since you like Lovesick too, you're welcomed to the LS thread as well. :)

I bet there really is soooo much more in the novel :) Hope the next episodes will give justice to this!

Wow! Happy to hear that BL is really gaining ground there and there will be moooooore to come :)

And there's also Ducky Boy and Soulmates in the planning.

I wonder if this has been mentioned though, but the closest BL series to air real soon is My Bromance The Series, which is the drama version of the movie. Many are hoping for a different ending to the series while sticking true to the spirit of the novel.

This will air on MCOT (same channel as previously Love Sick and MIR) starting 30 Oct.

Thanks for the information, @whitedove! At least BL series are slowly gaining ground there, having primetime slots in a fairly popular channel. Not heard how long BL has been on Thai television but I think it's also culturally and politically related. Mostly open countries have started tackling this topic from the recent decade. Even US series have started incorporating gay couples or are actually the leads. Here in the Philippines, we have had only one BL drama on primetime, shown in the second biggest channel. And being a religious nation, you cannot expect seeing anything beyond sweet words and a little holding of hands. Even the final kiss between the couple was not shown. And we can be just happy that no banning happens like in the case of China. Right, @meifang89? It just does not feel right for a series to start and does not end as it should. Well, the struggle..

I'm not sure how long BL or even GL couples have been on Thai TV, but there have been plenty of LGBT characters. But if I remember correctly, when Hormones became popular and the GL/BL couples KoiDao and PhuThee became talk of the town, people somehow believed that it could work. Love Sick was really a test to see if it'd take off. White has even said that if they failed he would have continued his studies overseas. But then it became a major hit for the channel, the best ratings MCOT has had in years, and now we start to have MIR, side BL couples in Part Time and many GMM-related series, lesbian couples in the Songkram series, more queer couples in Club Friday series, and then Sotus, and the upcoming Status and Moon&Sun.

So... why am I feeling like Saturday is like 100 years away right now? I want another episode like I need water!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I am doing this to myself. I've always told myself not to get this addicted to a couple and a series, because of how heartbroken I was when DBSK broke up. I'm right back to where I was when that happened. I wonder if GMM would ever pair Krist and Singto up again? If they're smart enough and want to make money and make us viewers all happy then I think they need to pair these two up again in another story, even if they only get to be supporting roles in another drama/series I would be happy.

      Reveal hidden contents

Not only am I in love with Arthit and Kongpope, but I'm also in love with Pik and Rome from Puppy Honey! Why do I keep doing this to myself? LOL! Then I went and watched Make It Right, which I have to say I hate Fuse!!!!! He is so selfish!!! Why can't he just dump his stupid girlfriend who made him cry?!?!??!!! He has Tee, and he's always happy when he is with Tee! That should be enough!!!! I felt so bad for Tee whenever the girlfriend came into the scene. My heart was hurting so much for Tee. Then we have the best supporting couple ever, Frame and Book. OMG! I didn't know their story would be like that! Frame is so funny!!! I can't believe they met each other like that! And seriously, when Book said 'I'm bleeding, because of what you did last night!' I was like.. dayammmmnn, that hard? Frame was half drunk, but he doesn't look like he had that much energy. LOL! OKay, I'm going crazy.. Gonna go watch some more MIR.

Well unlike Channel3 or Channel 7, GMM is not in the habit of recycling OTPs, even popular ones. For example, BelleFon is GMM's most popular queer ship ever (outside of WhiteCaptain who can't be categorized as a GMM ship since Captain is not under GMM) and they haven't been paired or even been in a series together since Hormones (though next year will change when Project S starts with many ex-Hormones cast members). This is actually because GMM has many talents under one roof so they love to mix things around. The odds of a couple in one series being a couple in another series is fairly slim.

Have they become actors already before they played in Sotus? I ever watched Singto in LIE, a short movie, I think he becomes a gay too, haha, I just assumed since I don't understand Thai, CMIIW. but I don't know about Krist, did he play in some series too?

Krist was a child actor. Most Sotus actors/actresses actually have had acting experiences. Some have even played leads before, like Fluke and Neen (who plays May).

@sabaiarom193 is from Thailand. I'm not sure if he/she is still active. He/She said that the novel is so famous there so I guess the series should be as well.

The novel is famous only among BL fans. General public are mostly watching Channel 7 or Channel 3 and at times, OneHD. Among OneHD lakorns, the recently concluded Pidsawat has one of the highest ratings in its history so far, and both young and old watch it. Remember that Sotus is also on OneHD but not aired at primetime. So far only MCOT and GMM25 have shown BL or gay couples as the leads during primetime slots. GMM25 is more geared towards young people but while there are some young GMM stars who have become popular like Bank, JJ and Toy (Captain is popular but he's a freelancer though he has acted in 2 GMM series already) besides the already popular ones like Push and Sean, young people still prefer to watch lakorns by young stars from Channel 3 like Mario, Nadech, James Jirayu or James Ma. (I didn't mention the actresses here but popular young ones from Channel 3 are like Kimmy, Yaya, Bella and Mint).

wow this response is very comprehensive. thank you. but as much as i like singto, heteromantic dramatics don't have that effect on me. and actors who played gay roles in the past don't normally accept gay roles for another projects. i mean lovesick catapulted white's and captain's careers but i'm pretty sure if they're given a chance they would rather play hetero roles. same with krist and singto, that's why i'm just going to enjoy every single episode of sotus as much as i possibly can cause there are no repeats.

also, are captain and white really that popular in thailand? i'm curious as to how celebrity fame works in thailand's entertainment industry that's why i'm reading Queer Bangkok by Peter Jackson right now and it's so interesting, very critical theory and interdisciplinary.

Yeah Captain & White are pretty popular in Thailand now. Captain especially. He has made the top 9 of People's Choice Awards at Nine Entertain Awards (one of the 4 major television awards in Thailand) twice in a row already. My Thai friend (who's not into BL series and not a fan of theirs) said this is quite an achievement since Captain has never been on a mainstream channel (mainstream channels refer to Channel 3 and Channel 7). Plus the voting is pretty strict where you can only vote 5 times using the same phone number. Captain may not be the 'trend' at the moment like MIR guys (whose popularity after MIR remains to be seen), but he's definitely a teen prince. His movement gets followed by news/gossip sites, like his little outing with a rising young actress from Channel 7 who he recently befriends, or even tiny stuff like voting for a referendum the first time lol.

As for White, he's one of the young stars that GMM seems to be pushing. I think among U-Prince's male leads, Captain & White are probably the 3rd & 4th most popular after Push and March.

And oh, the WWCT ship is popular too, mainstream even, probably. Thais love their koojins (shipped couples) lol, and in a major award show this year, they were mentioned in an impromptu song together with other popular straight koojins like Nadech&Yaya and Mark&Kimmy.

Oh sorry for the off-topic, guys! Just mentioning what it could be for Krist & Singto if their popularity skyrockets the way Captain & White did. Captain & White of course had the advantage of being the first maleXmale lead couple in a lakorn shown at a primetime slot and the stepping stone for dramas like MIR or SOTUS to come along. (Being really good-looking doesn't hurt either lol). So we'll have to see whether this 'trend' will pass in a few more years or will it lead to more queer couples being the main leads in more primetime slots (SOTUS' slot is not considered primetime) and especially at mainstream channels (though this part seems the hardest to achieve).

  12. Just a reminder guys, since I think the mods haven't been in here. Please refrain from quoting pictures, gifs or videos since it's against soompi rules and you could be penalized for it.

Anyway, I believe there won't be a season 2. GMM usually plans things far ahead and from what I've read, they're getting ready for a new (supposedly) BL drama called Status The Series, which is musical/theatre themed, or so I read. (I could be mistaken though). Ssing and Oat (PerWin in Lovesick) will be in it though I'm not sure whether they'll be main characters.

Of course, Hormones and Diary of Tootsies have multiple seasons but unlike Sotus, these shows don't really have concrete source materials.

About U-Prince Series, all 12 parts' main couples are straight. Though they do have side characters who are queer. For example in Gentle Vet, the main guy's male best friend is in love with him while the main girl's best friend is in a lesbian relationship. In Single Lawyer, the main couple are August & Apple and Singto's character is supposedly the third wheel in the relationship, though I don't know who his character likes, August or Apple.

WhiteCaptain are in the series too, playing twins though and they both have their own leading ladies (GMM is definitely banking on WWCT's popularity to get ratings lol). So those who ship actors will have to brace for the time when Krist and Singto branch out after Sotus is over and they start acting with girls lol. Many fans think this will have only one season anyway since it's a short book.

sorry to butt in but in kiss the series, are newwie and his partner's story had a significant air time? because if so i will watch it right now lol

EDIT: Newwie isn't even in the opening credits of Kiss the series so i guess imma take a pass on this one.

Actually they are quite prominent in the series, they're labelled as the 3rd couple and are in every scene where the group of friends are hanging out. Of course they're not in the opening credits since its main plot is about the 2 sisters and their love lives. You can just skip the couples if you don't want to (though for me, I really love watching Mek/Mild pairing and was rooting for them the whole time). And of course, Tawan/New look great together too.

The first time I know about Newwie was in Kiss The Series. He and Tay Tawan play a gay couple in there, who are friends to one of the main couples.

And I'm sure Singto and Krist have known each other before Sotus even if they went to the same college (though this I can't be sure since I don't follow them closely). They're both under GMM and GMM talents seem to know everybody. They should have met before in GMM parties if not any of the events.

Hi Guys, newbie here and I'm soooo hooked with this series. I've been watching the episodes on Dailymotion over and over for several days now hehe. Anyway, Do you know when exactly in October? Because (hopefully) I might go to Thailand during that month. I want to see them =)))

29 Oct, but tickets are already available today. You can check GMMTV ig account for details or ask around at one of sotus' fanaccounts. (Sorry I can't give you the fanaccount names since I don't follow them, Lovesick and WhiteCaptain's fanaccounts are already too much for me lol.)
