  3. In this case, I hope NOT ;)

IDK about Season 2, but I'm hoping it will translate into JIW being more known in Japan ....=>more fangoods^^

    ==================

    ETA

TBS Hallyu Select promo was 60 sec, the announcer asked 2 questions, JIW answered in Japanese and also finally he invited the Japanese audience to watch FBRS. The first question was what type of Japanese food left a great impression on him? He said it was the Chirashi sushi ( sushi on top of rice)that he ate in Kyoto ( ancient capital of Japan, cultural center) 2 years ago--which the announcer said was a sophisticated answer ( classy/fine taste). Then he was asked what type of girl he likes...he said someone who is understanding and who he has something in common with.

Btw, on twitter, he tweeted, "How are the Indonesian fans? I worry for you."

I so much having fun reading your snippets about his tour in Japan . Thank you for translating !

And how caring he is for his overseas fans! I follow other stars, and basically JIW have this consistent connection with his fans all around the world. No wonder he is gaining more foreign fans each day. He is simply adorable.

He is also aware how to sport his looks, knowing that 49 days is a hit in Japan :) Cha Chi Soo with a twist of Song Yi Soo :w00t:

i thought that kim nam gil is still in the military?how come he has long hair in this picture?

That's the same question raised even by baidu and other fanpages of KNG @fb. And I am not sure of the rules regarding the required hair cut while serving in a public service department. However, those photos are vouched by a certain daum blogger who happened to be in the wedding and posted those photos . You may also check it here-- My link

Based on my readings, those photos were not seen before. So proly they are the latest :)

  6. THere's not really a lot of JIW goods out there.

    On yesasia, there's only:

    1. OSTs for 49 days, FBRS, Iljimae and MFL

    2. 49 Days DVD BOx

( they had the tear-necklace though...)

    There's a lot more variety from amazon.jp

    1. All of the above

    2. Iljimae DVD Boxes, MFL, Unstoppable High Kick

    3. a couple of magazines where he's not the cover, mug and crystal case

    MS stickers/photocards--> but mostly KSH

I think there will be more MS goods . as it is they are releasing a photobook....

anyway, my original quest was to search for FBRS DVD box from yesasia.,.

But there's no listing for it, so most probably I'll get the Japanese version which will be released in June.

There you go, thanks a lot ! I have been looking for Iljimae's dvd and I can't find it in YA. (I tried to watch ROI online but the quality of videos are terrible)

Il Woo is back with his short straight hair.. I am currently having my Yang Myung Fix and watching his Iljimae. I know, I know, I am kinda late of this drama of him. Haha. So far I am loving the story all in all. This was JIW's break through..Now I understand where the YM came from .

according to @fantagiogroup , there will be no break for @actorjungilwoo after finishing off The Sun and The Moon 해를 품은 달 because of tight schedules including photo shoots and love calls from CF, and his plans for promotions overseas to the Philippines, China, Japan and Taiwan . Works for overseas promotions will be his priority after his popularity risen from his drama 49 Days, Flower Boy Ramyun Shop (꽃미남 라면가게) and TMETS

  9. As promised, here is my in-depth review/opinion of TMTETS. Hopefully you guys have an open-mind set before coming into this. I'll also warn you that it's LONG!

    TMTETS review on mydramalist

    oh dear, love this review.

    a) Too many unnecessary flashbacks at the beginning. I’m typing about the repetitive flashbacks from the young versions of the characters. After what happened to the female protagonist, they had to show flashbacks of most, if not every, single character in relation to her by using flashbacks. I mean, we literally saw those scenes a couple of episodes ago. We get the point.

And thank kdramagoodness that someone other than me mentioned these flashbacks issues. Flashbacks are not tend to become redundant in a kdrama unless they depict revelations. Some flashbacks are only reminders , like when you're having amnesia or you're stupid enough to forget that you said something like this or like that. But gah, how many times did we see them? The only fresh flashbacks were :

    1. Princess Minwha's convo with the late King.

    2. Hwon and Yang Myung extended convo in the monastery

    3. Young and adult Hwon

    h) Unpredictability at its worst. The ending totally threw me even further from the bell-curve. The twists and deaths that occurred to people seemed very random and out of place for me. There was no mention/reasoning as to why that had to happen. There were more ways/logical reasons as to why they could have avoided them altogether.

There are two kinds of expectators: The novel-fans and raw viewers. And of course, if you belong to the raw viewers who

    1. Read the spoilers with regards to the death toll after this drama, you 'll expect on HOW they die. In the end, you may still somewhat bawling on Seol and Yang Myung 's death and find rationale on why they died in the illogical way.

    2. Did not attempt to read any spoilers at all, never visited any forum or fan sites to avoid who's going to be skewered . In the end, you still belong to the bawling viewer after Seol and Yang Myung's surprise deaths. Only to find out, there are still kisses and reunions coming ahead dear. So hush hush for a while the crying at the first 20 minutes because you might tend to forget how Eunuch rocks with his gayageum.

Then if you belong to the novel-fans..

    1. You still find yourself bawling about how Seol and Yang Myung redeemed their un requitted love. Dear writernim..how dare you.

For me, I pick myself as a raw viewer and spoiled myself about the ending of the characters. But then again, honestly speaking, I did not cry when Yang Myung died. I was mad. Truly mad. The only thing that lessen my annoyance was when I read the article about JIW awareness about his character's fate then I ended up rationalizing myself , believing that he want to challenge himself in a dying scene. OK Jung Il Woo, I got it, Thank You. However, next time can you also discuss uncertainties not only to PD nim but also to writer nim? :sweatingbullets:

Okay, Yang Myung's death was to fulfill the prophecy or the legendary tale of "there are only One Sun and Moon" metaphor. Been there, seen that. The first time I learned about this tale was the movie Too Beautiful to Lie . We witnessed in episode 1 how it will complicate things. But Yang Myung's death can't be forseen even for us viewers maybe? He did made the sacrifice, a noble one. BUT STILL IT IS A IDIOTIC and ILLOGICAL. I don't get it HOW he chose to die that way, making his brother less sorrowful maybe on how he would die and won't blame himself there after? Can he just die saving Hwon's from minister Yoon or what so ever? This drama only showed, how incompetent the guards are, standing there watching all the fiasco of YM skewering. It only showed, how inconsistent for a commoner guard to perfectly threw that spear yards apart from YM, in contrast with Hwon's missed point of hitting Yoon in a bulls eye.

I only realized how intentionally the death scene of YM was cleared up from the guards and all. It's like this space is intended for him to catch that spear . I would have been crying now if only he conspired with the guard to throw spear to him LOL. My ranting thoughts..

A second look . Notice how busy the guards are to the motionless enemies. fury.gif:angry:

    418019_204294073009998_152170751555664_302543_1729480388_n.jpg

    g) Story that focuses on romance, yet lacks chemistry? Yes, bash me all you want. I still can’t feel the energy/sparks between our OTP till the very end. I honestly had a stronger connection with the two younger characters/actors. I also thought Yang Myung matched more with Wol at some point.

There's a chemistry between HGI and KSH, i felt that. Yet, it is not continuously consistent through out the series. I was gawking with glee during the flip-flop who are you moment. That was freaking insane. The first time we saw the kissing scene in the preview, I anticipated much for episode 17 to come . Then spoiled everything because it was slashed. Compared to yang myung and wol/yeon woo, it was void IMO. Maybe because at the back of my mind, I keep on asking how YM fell in love with YW. Where was the love at first sight scene? On the side note, the rain scene with young YW and YM was a killer. I love that scene.

For the sageuk followers, I think we tend to have stronger connection with the younger ones mainly because they were vets in this field, with previous dramas under their belts. When they became adult, the chemistry of JIW and KSH as brothers was there, maybe that is why we all thirst for a more action packed, conspiracy and heart wrenching storyline for YM and Hwon.

I might watch some particular scenes, but never will I watch the entire drama again.

I did not watch the english subbed videos yet, that's how bitter I am. And I 'll be watching this drama again when this will be shown in my country.

  10. The Best and Worst Actors of ′The Sun and the Moon′

    2012-03-16 17:23 l CJ E&M enewsWorld Lee, InKyung

    http://www.enewsworld.com/enews/conte..

MBC’s The Sun and the Moon ended with a bang, drawing over 40 percent in viewership ratings, and earning the title of ′nation′s drama.′

It wasn’t only the strong script from Jung Eun Kwal, but the passionate acting of the actors that helped make it a success.

But among the actors there were those that shined and those that fell a bit flat over the course of the drama. Who were the greatest winners and losers of The Sun and the Moon?

    Bravo! Perfect~

From its beginning, The Sun and the Moon’s child actors received much praise. Yeo Jin Gu, who portrayed the younger version of Lee Hwon, actress Kim Yoo Jung, Lee Min Ho captured the hearts of adult viewers by portraying the childhood romance perfectly. Even after the series ended viewers asked to see more of the child actors and many of them went on to film CF’s with their adult co stars.

But of course, the biggest beneficiary from the drama was  Kim Soo Hyun. Through this production Kim created a “King Hwon Syndrome” and went on to collect some five billion won in endorsement deals.

His everyday life and everything about his became an issue while his song for the drama’s OST Another Road became a hit on the music charts. Jung Eun Pyo who starred as Kim’s sidekick also brought comedic relief to the drama and to viewers, earning much love.

Very Good. We Look Forward to Your Next Work

The Sun and the Moon was Han Ga In’s  first historical drama. She was met with a lot of concern over her ability to take on a historic character role in relation to her experience as an actor.

The first six or seven episodes that she appeared in sparked a lot of controversy because of her acting abilities. However, Han began to take command of her facial expressions to create her own Heo Yeon Woo character. Her visible growth in acting through the drama drew praise from viewers, who commented that they look forward to seeing her in her next work.

Jeon Mi Sun, who portrayed Yeon Woo’s adoptive mother, Nok Young, turned out to be a charismatic character that was crucial for the drama.

Her character’s acts of black magic were convincing and her commanding gaze conveyed much even when her character did not speak any lines.

Kim Min Seo, who portrayed the queen, also can′t be left out. The scenes where her character went mad after seeing the apparition of a ghost and the scene where her character ends her life in the final episode made for a realistic portrayal of someone who had lost their mind. Though Han, Jeon and Kim’s roles diminished as the series progressed, their roles came together harmoniously.

Something was a bit lacking~ Try harder next time

As such a diverse range of characters were shown, there were some roles that were, frankly, a bit of a let down.

Those few were Lee Won Geun and Song Jae Lim, who portrayed Hwon’s royal guards, Song Jae Hee, who portrayed the adult Heo Yeom, Nam Bo Ra, who played Princess Minhwa and Yun Seung Ah, who acted as Seol.

The character Woon, was one of the most stand outs of the drama, and was the role most coveted by rookie actors. The production staff decided to select the role through auditions, through which idol group ZE:A’s Im Si Wan was selected for the younger adult version of Heo Yeom and earned great popularity.

But Lee Won Geun’s portrayal of the younger version of Woon lacked charisma and acting ability, which led to the decreasing of his role. Unfortunately, Song Jae Lim also failed to match the level of acting needed to portray the adult Woon.

According to a member from the production, “Initially we were going to portray Woon falling into a one-sided love with Yeon Woo bringing conflict between the troops and lovers. We wanted a character like Lee Jung Jae from the past drama Hourglass who commanded a lot of gravity but since the roles were filled with rookies, the characters ended up being somewhat average characters. Because of this they didn’t have many lines.”

In addition Princess Min Hwa’ villainous role drew some viewers away while Yun Seung Ah who garnered much love from her previous dramas as a main actress, became relegated to a minor role after the popularity of her on-screen love interest, Heo Yeom, plummeted.

Which characters did you find the most compelling, and which just faded from your memory?

Call me biased, but I am reading this article for the third time already and I can't find JUNG IL WOO ... <_<

About Song Jae Rim, I for one would commend he did portray the Woon character perfectly --if I will base on the synopsis written in the drama. As for the actor, he pulled his best to portray those scenes when he need more emotion, like when talking to Yang Myung , and including the death scene. This is also his second tilt after FBRS (With few screen time compared to moonsun). What is there for him to become more diverse in acting when he is only told in the script to stay beside the King, have a watchful eyes, and would only say "Ye, Chona" ?

I agree on Jung Eun Pyo . He rocks, till the end!

My tribute to TMETS.. Thank you! you made me happy for over 2 moths and let me escaped the crazy reality. To all my MoonSunners, It was a fun wild ride. I would never forget this experienced I don't usually stick around till the end coz most of the dramas I've watched before, I dropped them midway if my taste bud turned sour. I know, MoonSun wasnt a perfect drama and had a lot of flaws, but something about the drama that glued me till the end. I think I was possessed by MoonSun spirit or something that it was so hard to shake it off my system.

jazzer, Love reading all your post, you always enlighten my cloudy brain when the drama turns into different direction.

angieknows_11 & s@nbi, Thanks guys for the videos and translations preview.

semi-fly, I havent used torrent before, but after the megaupload issue, I had to find an alternative then I found you. You are my life saver. Thank you so much and I know I will see you again definitely.

And lastly, I would never enjoyed TMETS so, so much without my infamous gutter girls...

    peipei78, Pach, alexus,..

You made my viewing pleasure so colorful.. It wouldn't be fun without you guys..

I was a bit lost when you guys talked about Mr. Speedo. But you know me, when it comes to that kind of topic my comprehensive is good as great. That's my forte.. Good thing my friend metioned Mr. Speedo before but I wasnt really paying attention about him.. FYI! That's not the first time he had a scene like that, so before you seen him I've seen him before you. Bwahahahhhhahahah..

Lexie, dont worry he is all yours... Im a KSH pervy loyal. I just wiggle, wiggle just by looking at his blessed hands.

Those are pretty, and thanks for always at firsthand in sharing the photos. :D

Despite the writing odds, my praises goes to PD Kim Doo Hoon. I didn't cover other director's journey while handling a drama, and this is the first time. I admired how he ended this drama despite th MBC Crisis. He was like Woon who struggles between loyalty [the union] and his heart for his fans. When he twitted about his agony during the first weeks of strike, I was a little bit worried that he would eventually follow pursuit. But then, he stayed up to the last minute when he already have no choice [like everyone already joined and he was the only PD left :w00t: ].

He does not care if he will be criticized soon but his heart belongs to moonsuners as well.It maybe planned to distort the viewing schedules of MBC [because the whole week's drama line up was disrupted], but from his POV I also understand how he want to point out to the management that even if a show must go on-- fan service is void if the integrity of the company is unreliable.

While I was watching the cast 's goodbyes, I was happy to see KDH leading the pack of ending this drama on a high note. I was also touched reading his twits to all the casts [and also the oldies f4, as he mentioned it haha] and his praises for their commitment and passion for the drama, no matter how big or small their contribution is.

Overall, despite the continuity and editing glitches, this drama was shot beautifully. The cinematography was beautiful all through out. I can see how specific KDH was in terms of blocking, dictating symbols and metaphors to the drama as the story progresses.

-one example was the blocking sequences during the scene of young Hwon and Yang Myung, when YM pointed the sword to Hwon's neck. YM was always in the right side. Even at the monks house

-and this one, when YM decided choose the King .

I came to understand now why JIW Choose this character, knowing that this is a second lead role. It is because of this. He want to challenge himself acting on this kind of difficult scene. And he surely did shine.

What makes me angry (yeah, angry) and dissatisfied with the ending is that YM's death scene was so EPIC - even in the last moment of his life, he thinks of YW, but then we didn't see any grief or even sympathy from YW (I guess there's not so much time for this). That makes me think YM's death isn't worth for what YW treats him. That's why I wished there could be 2 extended episodes, so that they didn't need to rush everything.

I don't understand why they didn't follow the book from the beginning, why should have they followed its ending?

We saw the happy ending between the main character after a short time we saw many others die. The happy ending isn't so meaningful anymore and this drama just left me with emptiness. However, somehow I think it's a good thing. As the PD said, this drama is like a dream, I felt lost in the reality when the drama ended. I spent two month doing some silly things and couldn't concentrate on anything just because of it. Now I know it's already ended. I'm glad.

Thank you for everyone in this thread, especially the wife-husband who gave us lots of laughs with their thoughtful conversations.

    like a skewer..
