Well, that explains why Joo won's manager started following BoA on Instagram. I guess there is no patch up after all, but it is good to know that they relationship ended on good terms, like if it was bad one, they wouldn't had participated events like these, where they have to see each other in person

:loolz: Lol, it is so funny, joo won is even working out in dressing room. I guess it helps him keep calm before performance or he is not able to go to gym due to tight schedule

Yeah, I thought this pair too, but turns out these two married for love and was not a typical arranged marriage

Hello! I guess you are really a fan of boa, well that's the opposite for me... Not a fan or a hater i just feel not good to see connections between them like his manager following boa again even after his old ig deleted. When joowon is still in the army i see comments here and there which i really dont like her fans said things about joowon (probably not all of them) So...Now its a coincidence that they'll be together in one event the writer just deliberately put their names in an articles , i just wish happiness between them and they might as well meet in blue dragon award.

What I meant by focus is that this video has been edited like that showing mostly KHS part. It's not that they ignored JW during the actual interview..If you didn't see this interview I'll leave the link below.. And if you've seen many JW interview you'll see JW usually likes to answer questions sincerely but in short. He doesn't elaborate much. So's not very talkative rather he likes listening and observing. That's unless it's a one on one interview we don't get many things from JW.. Even in one one interview he sometimes answers in very few words, gives less reaction..But one thing with him is that he answers as sincerely as possible.

KHS is a senior and has her share of popularity among people so it's very natural to focus a bit more on KHS. If you look JW also praise her a lot saying her Goddess (her nickname given by k media).

    Oh yes..MSG had nice intro.

Ah yes, i hope sbs will also upload joowon focus in an interview.. Really like their interview together and he's a bit talkative in there..

And by the way since Alice is currently trending in Good Data and some korean news portal this came across to my mind that what if Kim Hee Sun didn't accept the role for Alice or JooWon? I wonder what impact could bring that drama if it weren't them in.. But I know since the very beginning joowon got discharged in military he has only interest to Alice for his comeback although I feel a little disappointed coz that drama will air this year which i want him to have a new drama last year..

After all im so happy that both accepted that drama its worth the long wait joowon never fails his lovely fans in choosing a very interesting drama and the ratings are continues to soar high what's more in upcoming episodes. His followers in instagram are also increasing he will reach half a million followers soon.

Yes..sad that intro's are missing from regular sites.. Gaksital had one, I think Yong Pal had one too. This Intro of Alice was shared in 10 minutes teaser tho.. this one got shared in press conference. The full intro is from 00:25 to 00.55. IG one is missing just a few seconds.

This somewhat raw or better I should say longer behind the scene of SBS  New Late Night E News interview of JW and KHS has been released today..focus on this video is KHS mostly.. it's just a detailed version of the original one that got aired in TV.

Why are they just focusing to Kim hee sun whereas joowon is also present in that interview?

  4. [Substar] "It's not CG?"... JooWon, the hottest scene in the drama'Alice'

Revision 2020.09.07 18:15[Substar] "It's not CG?"... Joo-won, the hottest scene in the drama'Alice'

Actor Joo-won, who is appearing in the SBS Friday and Saturday drama 'Alice', certified 'Boldness' in an unexpected scene.

In episode 1 of'Alice', which aired for the first time on the 28th of last month, Joo-won showed walking on the railing between high-rise buildings to catch the criminal. The railing Joowon walked was very high for the actor to actually walk, so most viewers responded that "CG processing is very natural."

    sbsnewslogo201468912_700.jpg

However, on the 4th, Joowon's management company Huayi Brothers released the behind-the-scenes photo, revealing the reversal of the scene. In the photo, Joowon was actually walking on the railing of a high-rise building while wearing a safety device. The agency side released the behind-the-scenes photo and added, "The scene I was walking around on the long-awaited rooftop, I wonder if the actor Joo Won shakes? My heart beats violently." I added a surprise to show.

    sbsnewslogo201468913_700.jpg

The netizens who saw this were surprised by reactions such as "It's scary just to see", "How do you laugh there? It's amazing", "I thought it was CG of course...

'Alice' is a drama about the story of a man and a woman who had an eternal breakup due to death and met again beyond the limits of time and dimension. In the play, Joo-won plays the role of'Park Jin-gyeom', a police officer who suffers from congenital anesthesia.

  5. Joo Won revealed to have received 50 drama offers after military discharge

Director Baek Soo Chan of SBS' upcoming drama 'Alice' expressed his high expectations for working with actor Joo Won. A showcase for SBS' new Friday-Saturday drama 'Alice' (written by Kim Kyu Won, Kang Chul Kyu and Kim Ga Young, directed by Baek Soo Chan) was held online on the afternoon of August 25 with actors Kim Hee Sun, Joo Won, Kwak Si Yang, Lee Da In and director Baek Soo Chan. On the same day, director Baek Soo Chan revealed that, "Isn't this Joo Won's first work after he was discharged from the military? I think I'm a lucky guy. When he was discharged from the military, he received a total of about 50 drama offers, and I'm honored to be his choice among them." He added, "The Joo Won I met was a very serious person. I took notes and talkedto Joo Won since the first meeting. I promised him that I'd make him look very cool, cute, and sad." 'Alice' is a sci-fi drama about a magical time-traveling of a woman who resembles her dead mother and a man who loses his emotions. Actress Kim Hee Sun plays Park Sun Young, whose face resembles a genius physicist. Joo Won plays Park Jin Kyeom, a congenital insensitive detective. New stills and interview

I love that JW goes more into his actual reasoning and acting process here :) And, yes, he is known for going out of his way to pick challenging roles: some more successful than others, to be honest, but that's his general MO.

I agree that's what I actually really like about joowon he has high standards in choosing his projects.. Even it takes very long time for him to choose next projects but i do believe in him. He is one of the best talented Actors in Korea, I admire Joowon & appreciate him as an Actor. I think it’s time for him to remind everyone of his existence and also give his contemporaries a worthy and good competition. Hope everyone considers that not only on his looks but his talent is exceptional :)

Joo Won Shares What Drew Him To His Role In “Alice” + Kim Hee Sun Prepares To Take On Action Sci-Fi Genre

    Aug 11, 2020
    by C. Hong

Joo Won and Kim Hee Sun are gearing up for the premiere of their new drama, “Alice”!

“Alice” is a sci-fi thriller about a detective who discovers the existence of time travel (Joo Won) and crosses paths with a scientist who resembles his dead mother (Kim Hee Sun). Together, they race to solve a special secret that involves time travel and fate.

Joo Won’s character, Park Jin Gyeom, is a detective who was born with a lack of emotion. For this role, the actor must juggle his character’s explosive action scenes with this lack of emotion. Joo Won is known for taking on diverse roles and new challenges in his filmography, with several of his projects going on to receive great love from the public.

Asked why he chose “Alice” as his first project after mandatory military service, he said, “I was drawn to the extremely new concept and the appealing character. Everyone can relate to a story about a mother, but the time-slip concept introduced here is new. I thought that it felt more fresh than any other project.”

Joo Won also talked about the difficulties of expressing a character’s inner thoughts without emotion. He explained, “Park Jin Gyeom was born without emotion, but he was able to grow with the help of his mother’s hard work. I couldn’t express emotions like other people, so I tried to show things through his gaze. I tried to act emotions with as little expression as possible. There are some things that touch Park Jin Gyeom’s heart, so I wanted those to have as much impact as possible.”

  7. Joo Won And Kim Hee Sun Are So Close, Yet So Far Apart In Main Poster For Upcoming Sc-Fi Drama “Alice”

Joo Won and Kim Hee Sun are shining in the main poster for upcoming SBS drama “Alice”!

“Alice” is an emotional science-fiction drama starring Joo Won as a detective who discovers the existence of time travel and winds up crossing paths with a scientist who resembles his dead mother (played by Kim Hee Sun).

Joo Won’s character Park Jin Gyeom is a strong and charismatic detective who was born apathetic. His one and only goal is to catch the culprit who killed his mother when he was in high school. Then one day, he unexpectedly meets Yoon Tae Yi, who bores an uncanny resemblance to his late mother. Despite the fact that she may not be his mother, he vows to keep her safe.

Kim Hee Sun’s character Yoon Tae Yi is a physics professor at Hankook University who finished calculus at the age of six and entered the department of physics at the young age of 15. She is a bold scientist with an overflowing passion, strong pride, outspoken personality, and confident charm. She feels strangely drawn to Park Jin Gyeom, a mysterious man who suddenly appears in her life, and her curiosity sharpens when she’s told that she resembles his late mother. Yoon Tae Yi and Park Jin Gyeom will work together to solve a special secret that involves time travel and fate.

On August 10, the drama revealed a main poster starring the two lead actors. In the spellbinding poster, Joo Won and Kim Hee Sun gaze longingly at each other as they are divided between night and day. Although they seem far apart, they are actually living in the same world. However, they will have to undergo various trials and tribulations before they discover the truth and achieve peace. The caption, “No matter what world you’re in, I’ll protect you,” in the poster shows the two characters’ determination to stay together until the end.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic here or you are really surprised:joy:

If Lee yoon Hoo had a partner in the drama I would have gone with him, but he ended up single.

Omg, did you just watch all the 9 dramas of Joo won and then answered the questions? It didn't even strike me that other characters of Joo won were also able to cook , like, I thought to choose Si-on, but he admitted that his cooking sucks :joy:

Well, mom's are by default best cooks(I have my doubts aboy Ma Jim's mother), so. I thought choosing a mother from the drama would be an insult to other mothers

Yeah, I totally forgot about princess Hye Kyung and her love  for spicy chicken feets :joy:

I think she might do it while they are living in USA for studies and intership. Back in Korea it's impossible and she might put family first before her relationship, at least in making food

I think we will get to see fusing of Joo won's acting from "Bridal Mask, Good Doctor and Ojakgyo brothers", and action scenes from "Yong Pal"

Same feeling haha!  Everytime there is new stills character of Park Jin Gyeom I always feel the same vibe from his previous roles.  I'm sure he will pull off a different role this time even it's the same type before. Joo Won is ready to showcase his exceptional acting skills in Alice... I couldn't wait for that,  though I notice a little something to SBS having a lacked of promos or it's just me that it's only first week of the month and excited hehe I'm expecting more news about his drama. Fans are always ahead of updating it. ;)

And by the way, i heard Alice is still in progress of filming. I hope they are safe and will continue to end filming the last scenes. Kim Hee-sun's last part was shoot in Seoul, but Joo Won's part still remains. Filming is about to take place in a specific area of Seoul, but it is impossible to film because it is constantly raining. It was difficult to switch to a set, so it was only a week to postpone. The crew is in a position to shoot until next week if the heavy rain continues it will be move again.

  9. Making his return after three years to the small screen since his military discharge, Joo Won is expected to showcase his exceptional acting skills through SBS drama 'Alice'

Joo-Won (Park Jin-gyeom) chose 'Alice' as a return to small screen after three years of military service. In particular, Park Jin-gyeom, who he plays in the drama, is a character who is inherently apathetic. Because he is actor Joo Won who has captured the public by acting with relatively high-level characters through various works, his attention is focused on how he can draw emotionless characters through 'Alice'.

Among these, on the 6th, 'Alice' production team unveiled the stills of the shooting scene that shows the character characteristics of JooWon in the drama. The power of JooWon, which takes the viewer's attention and makes the viewer immerse himself in his acting...

In the photo, Joowon is sitting alone on the railing in a school uniform. Sit crouched down as if anything had happened, but it never seems to be in fear. Rather, his eyes are bright and his face is intense. He is curious and curious about what situation he is in, what he is thinking and what he is feeling.

Along with this, JooWon acting amazed everyone. Earlier, the production of 'Alice' mentioned that Park Jin-gyeom, a congenital apathy, is a challenge to an actor. Because it is necessary to draw the psychological change of the character according to the situation without exposing dramatic emotions. However, in the photo, JooWon shows all the situations and psychology of the character by using all means of eyes, facial expressions, and gestures. Expectations must be drawn to JooWon's acting in 'Alice'.

In this regard, the production team of 'Alice' said, “As JooWon returned to the small screen in three years, he immersed himself in 'Alice' with the best of his ability. Thanks to this, the character Park Jin-gyeom, a congenital apathy that is possible only because of JooWon, was completed. It will instantly capture viewers and get interest into the drama. We ask for your interest and expectations.”

Following the intense action and charisma, JooWon showed a perfect digestion of even a difficult character.  Looking forward to seeing the magical story of the actor Joo Won, who meets Kim Hee-seon, and tells a magical story.

First episode will air August 28 at 10PMKST

  10. Joo Won Transforms Into A Determined Detective For Upcoming Sci-Fi Drama “Alice”

SBS’s upcoming drama “Alice” has revealed new stills of Joo Won in character!

“Alice” is an emotional science-fiction drama starring Joo Won as a detective who discovers the existence of time travel and winds up crossing paths with a woman who resembles his dead mother (played by Kim Hee Sun).

Joo Won’s character Park Jin Gyeom is a strong and charismatic detective who was born apathetic. He feels no emotion whatsoever and is always cold and stoic, until one fateful day when everything changes in his life. His one and only goal is to catch the culprit who killed his mother when he was in high school.

In the newest stills, Park Jin Gyeom is at shooting practice. His cold eyes are pinned on his target, and his stiff expression is filled with concentration and determination.

    joo-won.jpg

The production team of “Alice” commented, “Joo Won’s character Park Jin Gyeom is a character who was born apathetic and slowly changes throughout the story development. It is an impossible role to portray without thorough character analysis and delicate expressions. Joo Won was able to pull this off with his intense passion. In addition, you will be able to see Joo Won’s action scenes, which have become more powerful since his discharge from the military. Please look forward to the drama.”

To be honest, your previews/teasers sometimes feels like full version of fan fiction, no offenece

    Nae-il really is unpredictable:joy:

Looks like Joo won back himself of  2013-2014 vesrion, where he was like doing drama , movie and Musical drama simultaneously, except for variety show. Maybe  he will be in a variety show to promote "Alice". Or at least in a radio show both are okay with me

I'm okay with both too.  I really miss his appearance in a variety shows i guess my wishlist for him will be completed start from drama, movie and now he's back to musical. It would be nice too if he go for a show like 'Life Log' where we can see a glimpse of his daily life atleast ;)

And the promotion for the "Alice" drama has begun. I was smiling throughout the video, the casting for the drama  is perfect, I hope everyone gave their best performance for the drama, I am excited for the drama and can barely wait

Now Coming to analysis of the script reading, I guess, that drama has all the elements of high rating drama, like good comedy, action scenes, heartwarming moments, intense confrontations and suspense, and I really wish that Alice to get ratings between 15% - to 20%, since the dramas of Joo won's peers went south and were not able to at least garner 10% viewership, despite their stardom and international fan base. But, seeing the dramas like "Dr. Romantic 2 (27%)and Hot Stove League (19%)" achieve more than 15% viewership gives me hope that if the drama has a decent story backed with good writers, then any drama can achieve more than 15% viewership in the current climate where even the so called Hallyu star's dramas are not able to maintain 10%+ ratings continuously, recent drama being "Backstreet Rookie", where it sort of tried all type of pop culture reference, cameos, but was not able go past 10% viewership till now, which proves that drama needs solid story and serious writing to garner viewership.

And also, I would like ship Joo won with Lee Da-In. I know, it's not drama which is based on Love theme and there will be few scenes where we can ship or at least feel like two characters to fall in love. But, it's been long time since I have shipped Joo won's character. And, going with the story line it would hard to even think that Kim Hee-Seo character to have a  love angle with joo won's character, and that leaves us with Yeon Woo and Lee Da-In, but I don't really want to ship Joo won with Yeon Woo. For reasons like, she is sort of too young and in real life I don't see joo won ending up with a woman who is that young, and also, I think Joo won treated her like a Junior- cum- Little sister so it is hard for me to ship him with her. And in the released  two teasers we sort of  can see that Joo won's  interaction is more with Lee Da-In's character , so I think  they would share a platonic relationship, sort of like they like each other but don't want to take the relationship to next level. And also, I would like to clarify that my shipping is confined  to drama and not in real life, because that would be toxic

Same here!  It's been a long time since I shipped JooWon's character,  this will only be in drama but I like Lee Da In's character here as I know she will play Park Jin Kyeom's only friend,  I think her character goes they got in the same school also.  After years Kim Do Yeon (Lee Da In)  has feelings for him but he didn't realized it,  base on the character introduction posted this gets me interested

"Thanks to this personality, he was the only student who was not afraid of Jingyeom in high school, and the only friend who brought Jingyeom out of the world after his mother's death. However, it is not only because of compassion that Doyeon helped Jingyeom.  ...

On the contrary, Doyeon believed that Jingyeom also liked herself, and someday Jingyeom waited for the day to come to realize her feelings. However, unexpected miracles appear. It looks similar to Jingyeom's mother, and is pretty and attractive. So it's too unlucky. However, Jingyeom hangs with the woman. Doyeon, a rival, can no longer be cool. I have to take my feet off somehow to make Jin Gyeom my man. "

Looking forward to all of them its getting more excited whenever there is updates about Alice..

If you haven't read the character introduction here is it, the other characters played by known Actors which are also interesting :)

It was translated in January, 3 days after the Korean version was released, I saw it in this account under the Instagram story https://www.instagram.com/meyahmjw/

Speaking of the dialogues in the teaser, they are very confusing, it is like we are not able to pin-point exact relationship between the leads. The above dialogue you mentioned is followed by this dialogue "Did you do it? I believe you because your my son" And then a detective informs to joo won that he should have caught the guy who killed his mother but he couldn't. It's almost like they have mother-son relationship but I think we need wait for the premiere to clear this confusion.

Thanks And yeah most of your suggested dramas are sort of aligned with the preference, since none of them have common K-drama love plotAlthough I am new to the K-drama, but I am sort of fed-up with the love plot pretty quickly :P

I think I will start with "Cross" drama, because  the plot has medical and revenge in it:grin: and then the two historical dramas you mentioned since I have less exposure about Korean history

And the also the way SBS Instagram is promoting its dramas like "Back street Rookie", "The King: Eternal Monarch" with all the Behind scenes photos and videos, makes me  excited for August month, since before the drama they have to do tons of promotions, I can see them posting videos, photos of the "Alice" drama, like they have done with The King: Eternal Monarch and doing with the Backstreet Rookie.

Sorry I don't know how to quote im not familiar anymore with the settings of soompi thread.... I just want to quote on what u said about the behind the scenes of the recent dramas aired in SBS, for now some fans are worrying about the videos sbs may release about Alice when it comes out specially in Youtube some of them may be blocked to other countries. I just hope that they would stop blocking international fans

other countries can’t access their videos in Youtube, Naver Tv, or any korean site,, ,InstaGram when reposting it. Views will get higher if only they’ll permit international fans to gain access....  Last night JooWon updated his ig and thankfully a fan saw it but unfortunately it has been deleted because he himself cannot post his upcoming drama trailer ALICE to his Instagram account so this is kinda disappointing to SBS

Maybe it is because they are from same agency, not that joo won knows everyone from the agency, but if his fellow actor/actress have similar hobbies like going gym or golfing then we can expect joo won to have some kind of personal relationship( I guess clubbing is a non-stater to make friendship with JW:P)

Hi!  As I know they met when they are still both in army 2017 and they have the same unit in White Skull division, But Geonil got discharged first.. They have picture together during that time unfortunately I didn't saved it in my files
