  1. IU's instagram post killed me yesterday. I was so shocked, haha. I really hope it means something. I re-watched episode 20 just recently, cried buckets again, and just seeing that post made me feel a bit happier. Honestly though, I'm also somewhat worried about what the other ending of Moon Lovers really was. Was it going to end up being sad like the C-version, or not? Is it a really good ending? I'm not too trusting of the scriptwriter + director right now, so in some ways, I'm happy that good fanfic can make up for what they didn't give us, haha.

The last episode of ML gave me inspiration to finish the last chapter of my story, which is in future! So's POV. Anyone interested can read it here. Thanks again to ML, and to everyone on this thread for giving me a lot of happiness. There have been so many insightful posts, and following this drama has been a truly interesting ride all throughout. I miss our Moondays already. XD

Idk, the show is TOO subtle with Hae Su and not subtle enough with Wang So if that makes any sense.

Sorry to cut your post, but I just wanted to focus on this line because I really agree with it. The show has pretty much given us everything about Wang So (we know his backstory, he's blunt and constantly says what is on his mind so he pretty much reads like an open book, etc.), but the show has given us so little when it comes to Soo, which is a shame because she's supposed to be our main character. In terms of character development, she's pretty much been chucked to the side in favor of Wook and Soo. It's also highly ironic that Soo is the only one who isn't a historical figure, so you'd think that there would be a lot more room to play with there, but they've given so little to her character.

I forgot whose post it was, but I also agree that they've made So far too sympathetic. I also agree with what @moonlovertales has been saying about what has been done with his character. There should have been more of a balance between him and Soo. It seems like the scriptwriter was too afraid to have viewers feel conflicted about So, so instead she took a "safe" route so that all of his actions could be made far more justifiable.

Another frustration on my part is that Moon Lovers had been doing a pretty good job in terms of diverging from its source material, but now, in its final hours, they've suddenly chosen to stick to how BBJX came to a close. It just comes off as so forced because the set up was totally different and now we're rushing to the end with that.

I don't know how I feel about tomorrow's episode...endings can make or break things...will a good ending (not necessarily a happy one, but a well-executed one) save its many flaws, or will things just get worse? I hope this show pulls another episode 11 on us. TT____TT

  3. I wish they had fleshed out Woohee's death a bit more. Her suddenly jumping like that just felt way too abrupt. They could've explained that better, but as usual, I feel like the explanations probably ended on the cutting room floor. Sigh. Poor Baek Ah. He's lost two loves...and speaking of Baek Ah, I do have to say that his little speech about being selfish is perhaps, more appropriate and fitting for So, who is currently showing his selfishness and ignoring that Soo isn't meant to live in the palace. His determination to keep Soo is an indication of his naiveté when it comes to personal relationships. After all, love isn't enough to sustain a relationship. There are so many other factors that come to play.

When it comes to Soo...well, I wish the writer had done her character much more justice (so much has been wasted and so much frustration could have been avoided!!!), but there are several truthful things that she said throughout the episode. As for her smiling as she left, it's because the experience of leaving the palace is a bittersweet one. There are many happy memories that have taken place there, but she cannot forget the horrifying and heartbreaking ones either. Poor Soo. She needs to die and head to the future already.

I hope our final episode will give us the following things - first, that Soo's death + consequences of it will all take place within the first 30 minutes of the show so that the rest of the episode will take place in the future, that Wook will reveal the role that Yeonhwa has played in all the royal bloodshed, that Won will die (the more torturous, the better, why is he still alive and well???), and that SoSoo will get an ending that they and the viewers all deserve, haha. Whether it's bittersweet or happy, let's end on a high note please. TT____TT

We've gone through tons of ups and downs everyone, but our ride is finally almost at its end. Thanks for the great memories. ❤

  4. Well...it's really nice that Baek Ah and Woohee make plans to get married BUT she's probably going to die in the next episode, so...*clutches heart and tries not to die over it*. Poor beautiful, innocent cinnamon roll Baek Ah, who has been a total SWEETHEART the whole time, is going to get his heart ripped out in the next episode, I am NOT READY.

As for Soo, her leaving the palace has been a long time coming...a REALLY long time coming. It's only gotten delayed because of So, but now that he's entertaining Yeonhwa and allowing his vicious side to re-surface, well, I can't say he's 100% worth staying for anymore. I'm not too familiar with the C-version, but if I'm not mistaken, the 4th prince already had a wife/wives before Ruoxi came along, right? It's a pretty different case here where Soo truly has to step aside and see So get married to evil Yeonhwa who then gloats in her face at every turn. It's a pretty humiliating situation for her. When it comes to Chaeryung, yes, the girl did bad things and she deserves her punishment for that, but it doesn't mean that Soo would want to see the girl get killed in such a brutish manner. It's not easy to kill people or even just see people get killed, the people who conduct executions - the people who could easily be the ones considered as "desensitized" to seeing people die, get mental trauma. How much for Hae Soo? I totally understand her need to get out. She needs to go back to the 21st century, where at least there's internet and chocolate, lol.

Although the pacing has been rushed, at least it looks like Soo will be leaving the palace by episode 19, and then she will probably die early in episode 20? I hope the scenes in the future can heal our scarred hearts. T_T

Actors get awards for acting out dying scenes or reacting to people dying. :sweatingbullets:

@MAROSA_JIN thanks for bringing over the ratings figure. 9.8% wow, koreans are really sadist huh? this is like the most cold blooded ep. But I think its largely attributed Moonlight having ended. But how do those viewers watch dramas? They just hop from show to show without any background?

I think it's likely that since Moonlight & Moon Lovers have a similar demographic (younger viewers), a lot of viewers were probably watching Moon Lovers as well, but it's just that Moonlight was their viewing priority. However, now that Moonlight is over, they can watch Moon Lovers. ^^

Just want to clarify i remember in the c-version, number 13th was punished because he took on 4th crimes, and then he fell in love and had a child. but his wife committed suicide or something. will that storyline be repeated with Baekah? I am guessing that if WH was indeed ask to spy on the 13th and the 14th, (unsure what honestly as there to spy on, they never did covert the throne) i am wondering what would happen to the 13th-WH storyline,

    any thoughts?

I saw that someone subbed the Yo-WH part, here it is:

As for the 13th-WH storyline, I think that Yo will die before he can reveal the truth to Baek Ah (since I feel like they would've included it in the preview if that reveal happened), BUT the 9th prince probably knows about WH being a spy for Yo, so he'll likely end up being the one to reveal WH's betrayal to Baek Ah. The scene where General Park x So x Baek Ah ride up to the palace is different from the scene shown in the 6 min. preview where Baek Ah is wearing armor + shouting after someone, so there should be at least one more rebellion of some kind and maybe it's at that point where WH will possibly commit suicide or be used as bait..or basically be used in a tragic way.

  7. Honestly, this whole mess could've been avoided if only SBS had just made a decision about airing the episode WAY before time. They have to coordinate with other broadcasters, but they only seemed to have made the decision...what, fifteen minutes before the episode was supposed to air? They should've given the heads up sooner, especially since live ratings matter the most on their part.

Of course Youku isn't blameless, but still, SBS would make things so much easier for everyone, viewers and broadcasters alike, if they were more direct and organized about whether or not the show will be airing. >_>

  8. Well, looking into the future...I have some thoughts from this episode, mostly around my bias, 13th prince, haha. First, I'm suspecting that Woohee is going to betray Baek Ah in the future. For sure, her homeland >>>> my beautiful handsome prince/cinnamon roll Baek Ah, and anyway, there's really no way Yo would've let her gone free. After all, she knows that he had an assassination attempt planned and would thus be useful in helping the opposition (So, Baek Ah & others) unite against him. So really, she must've made a new deal with Yo. By saying that she would continue to be a gisaeng, she ensures that Baek Ah doesn't leave the palace, and thus Yo manages to keep another person that he could use against So, but I'm sure that's not the end of their deal.

In the 6 minute trailer, Baek Ah is dressed in two different kinds of armors (1,2), so that means there should probably be two battle scenes to come (or maybe there was a wardrobe error and I'm overthinking this, lol). I think it's likely that scene 1 will come before scene 2, only since in scene 2, BA is actually wearing the same armor that the CP wore before (once again, this guess relies heavily on the wardrobe team not messing up, lol). Plus, General Park will need revenge on Yo, for killing his beloved daughter. But, in order for this to happen, I think that So + Baek Ah will have to leave the palace. Maybe Yo imprisons Baek Ah for having better hair whatever reason, So busts him out (with the help of Woohee...maybe), and then they unite with General Park and then return to the palace, dressed in their shiniest armor.

    Though...some general thoughts:

    • Woohee will probably die in episode 17/18? She's probably the person that Baek Ah is trying to reach for (as shown in the 6 min preview). Maybe she commits suicide (like 13th's lover did in BBJX, right?), she sacrifices herself for him, or maybe someone pushes her off the balcony (and since it's not a magical cliff, she dies), either way, it'll change Baek Ah forever, and Soo will be affected by that.
    • I'm not sure about the historical details about this one, but Won will probably be disposed of? I know someone said that he tries to lead a rebellion...? Though, in any case, Chaeryung will certainly die, and considering how she was part of a treasonous plot, she will probably meet an unforgiving end at the hands of So. Once again, this will also affect Soo.
    • It'd be really interesting in my opinion if Queen Yoo is the one who ends up killing Yo in order to save Jung. Now wouldn't that be tragic? I'm sure that even if she does it to save him, Jung is unlikely going to be able to forgive his mother, and she'll pretty much lose everything at that point.
    • I'm curious about how everything with Wook will be resolved. I'm expecting Yo's storyline to wrap up next week, so after that, it'll more or less be Wook vs. So. Plus there's the matter of Yeonhwa's marriage to So as well. I don't think Yo will be the one to agree with that, since he'd be pretty much putting together two of his enemies, so it should happen after...and that will probably be the end to So-Soo.
    • Not sure how So will find out about Wook-Soo. While they may still let Wook be the one to tell him, I feel like it'd have more impact if Soo was the one to do so. Maybe she'd do it so that she could spare So from killing yet another one of his brothers, so that he would choose to marry Yeonhwa (maybe) and so that, just like in BBJX, she'd be able to leave the palace. Yeah, it'd likely fall into the "noble idiocy" category, but whatever, lol, personally, I'd love it if things played that way, but idk if the scriptwriter felt the same way, haha.
    • I think Soo getting worn out by palace politics is still the best reason for her to want to leave, they probably wouldn't have changed that. Not sure if she'll have a miscarriage since it doesn't seem like we have enough time for that (but who knows, the writer likes to cram things in an episode). I don't think Baek Ah will have that much willpower to take care of Soo after whatever happens to Woohee, so Jung is definitely perfectly falling into place as the one who'll take her away. He'll also be tired of palace politics by the time everything is over.
    • Not sure how long they'll spend in the future...but come on, 15 minutes at least? I'll feel pretty disappointed if they end the way that the C-version did, or if she just sees So in the future and that's it. At least give me a sign of a happy ending to come! ^^

....okay, I wrote a lot. It's time for sleep. If anyone wants to add to my thoughts, please do so! ^^

I don't think that HS doesn't trust So. I feel like she just wants to do things on her own and not bother So. She saw So killing Eun and SD on her visions. She knows how So felt when he thought he killed Yo. Haesoo doesn't want to happen it again. She knows WS doesn't want to kill his brother but he might be forced to do it because of her. So, I think the only solution she can think at the moment to prevent it from happening is if So can't find Eun and SD before they can escape.

I agree with this point! Seriously, the best way for So to not be forced to kill Eun and SD is to keep them as far away from him as possible. To add to this, it's dangerous to make So get involved because he's got Yo's attention and really, if you want to keep something secret, the fewer people you tell and involve, the better. Besides, it's not like the couple's capture was completely Soo's fault. She was hiding them pretty successfully, but it was unfortunate that the couple, being the young kids that they are, failed to realize that they had left behind a clue that someone would pick up.

Really, if anyone should be blamed for the couple's upcoming demise, let's please focus the blame on Yeonhwa, the girl who ratted out the young kids, and Yo, the person who actually wants them to die in the first place! They are the people who are actually much more deserving of the blame for the killing of innocents, and not the people who are the victims of this whole event.

Not sure if its because of poisoning or getting loony.  But I think Yo is indeed going crazy. He's getting paranoid... and whose fault is that?!?! Mama Killer.. yeeees... thats YOU!!
This is how Yo is going to die. I'm guessing it'll be in ep 17, and like this:

It looks painful.... is it so wrong of me to be joyful about it? Hmmm...

Btw, somebody said kiss in next ep? Where where where?

It's the after effect of falling from a cliff! No x-rays/MRI available, so perhaps there was brain damage. :P
