King Taejong has always been kinda vilified in dramas but historically he was a very effective king. Pleased that this drama is trying to make their depiction more balanced, blurring the lines between right and wrong.
JMJ had to die for the greater good; he was preventing change that was much needed in a stagnating and failing Goryeo system in which peasants and the common folk were dying. All for his Confucian integrity.
JDJ's plans for a new state were not any more democratic; at the end of the day the Prime Minister in his plans had autocratic power as well.

TBH I want LJK to leave Namoo.... I don't think they've been the best agency for him; his career has kinda stagnated since. I think exploring his options would be a good idea. Its not the best time for it, but I'm sure there are many big agencies around that are interested in him.
From media reports it looks like leaving is a bigger possibility, and Namoo's statement sounds a bit defeated?

Really love this drama.
Can anyone recommend any similar dramas? Wuxia drama that are heavily political?

Decided to watch this instead of Come Back Mister, but I think I might change tomorrow. The story felt forced and everything was too coincidental for it to be believable. The opening scene ended in a really weird way, and the interactions between the leads was weird. The 'love at first sight' thing wasn't explored properly and the romance felt like it was moving at 2x times the pace whilst the actual story was not moving at all? I love Song Joongki so was expecting to really enjoy this but the writing felt sluggish. Just too cliche and downright cheesy.
Viewer standards for tv shows are much higher now than they were before. tVN's mature shows and success show that the bar has risen.
Maybe it will improve later; KBS put a lot of money into this show.
