I really can't help it, but you said Taek was being crafty... Have you seen the subs yet? 

Basically shortly after that, JH noticed and asked him how come his shoelaces are tied so well. 

He replied that JH was the one to tied it for him that night. And since he was worried it would loosen and he won't know how to tie it back, he secured it so it won't be loose again.

I think he means he is worried if he broke this friendship, he won't know how to mend it again. They were only 18 years old afterall.
