Guest asianromance
I'm a bit worried for these singers-turn-actors. By juggling these two professions, both their singing and acting will suffer a bit. Admittedly, some of these singer turn actors are pretty good/decent: Bi, Eric, and Jung Ryeo won. Yoon Eun Hye's acting isn't that great but she's improving and she cried pretty well. But I guess it's inevitable when album sales drop so much each year. And there is more competition now too. When the korean wave started, there weren't THAT many singers and there were only a few big ones. Now there are more big name artists and more incoming artists. you know, it could be worse....like a MODEL turn ACTOR/actress.
Guest falling U P
like some have stated already, i dont really have anything against it unless they can't act. i guess since i was born into watching a lot of HK series, I was so used to singing actors-turned-singers or vice versa. It's not much of a problem to me at all, really.
Guest Babigrl
i don't find anything wrong with this as long as the person works hard and can act. that's all i care about
Guest jdlx24
some of the singer turned actors .. just don't have that acting ability. i hate how people hype up the drama/movie/etc bc some famous singer is in it.. just because hyori or andy or somebody else is in the drama will make the drama successful, yknow? Guest loving_D
the DBSG guys are going into acting?? most of the singers-turned-actors aren't that great but some of them are quite good (dongwan, ryeowon, bi, etc). i just hope every singer wont take this path. Guest suejinners
Personally, I don't like it.. most singers-turned-actors suck at acting, and just end up ruining a drama/movie for me. Like 'Goong', I stopped watching after the 1st episode, because I can't stand Yoon Eun Hye's acting. I loved the Manhwa, and now it annoys me that I can't even sit down to watch the drama without wincing. There are singer-turned-actors out there, like Kim Dong Wan, Jung Ryeo Won, Bi ETC who are actually good in acting, and those, I completely support. Overall, as long as they're GOOD in acting, then go for it.. ^ well said. yeah i stopped watching Goong too. I dont think that Yoon EUn Hye can act. She annoys me. ^ yeah shes just okay. she has a lot of fans and they really love her from xman and this drama but she just annoys me. NO OFFENSE! everyone is downloading. not enough moeny as a singer so they have to do other things too ^ Very true. its prob one of the main reasons. If the person can ACT then why not? Dong wan, Bi (he's a better actor than a singer imo), Eric, Eugene. THEY CAN ACT...
Guest teeny
well its the same for america, more singers are turning into actors~ timberlake, usher, jojo, gwen stefani, jess simpson etc etc personally, if they can act then whatever floats your boat
edward1849
I don't mind singers-turned-actors, but not the other way around (actors-turned-singers). Not to mention any names, but some of them are not that good a singer anyway, so it may be a wise career move.
Guest linny
I get the feeling, the concern is more that many singers these days are using singing as a jumping off point to becoming actors? :? In any case, it's not that big a deal if singers become actors so long as they're good at acting. It's not a bad thing for them to try a new profession. In many cases, trying to go into the acting profession usually shows the celebrity what their strength really is, and that to me is always a good thing. (Like how Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro started out as singers but are actually much stronger in their acting, and thank GOD for Takeshi and Andy acting. My life would be so sad without movies like Infernal Affairs.) Although I *do* agree with what everyone said earlier - when shows/movies/dramas get a lot of hype just because a singer is acting in it, it is annoying. Some singers-turned-actors deserve their hype, but many others? No. As for the whole model-turned-actors comment, I don't think models as a group are necessarily bad actors. I mean, Daniel Henney did it, and I think he did a really good job in Sam Soon (better than Dennis O'Neil in Sweet Spy, that's for sure). I guess we'll have to see more models-turned-actors to accurately judge how strong they are as a bunch, but again, it never hurts to try.
Guest StylishAzNx07
Some singers REALLY should not switch cuz some really suck at acting ... (i wont say who cuz i dont wanna b bashed). but yea i think too many singers are becoming actors these days.. boa will probably act in the future. just watch. lol
Guest chaserj7
welll i think singers basically earn very little money from their CD sales. their company takes most of it. so to survive they really need to act.. but of course there may be some singers who really have the passion for acting.. Guest 0n3l0v3
everyone is downloading. not enough moeny as a singer so they have to do other things too it's true. because of the onslaught of mp3 downloading, artists make very little money. granted you make more money as you get bigger, but even still, sometimes the money they receive isn't enough. that's why you see more artists coming out on variety show programs and debuting as actors. they need to expand from the music industry to make a decent living. Guest xl0lxl0lx
its fine if they're good. i don't listen to bi's music that much, but i think his acting in full house was awesome.
Wendy
It's a well known fact that Korean singers suffer because of internet downloading of their music, thus affecting the sales and therefore their income. So if they can act, it would be a wise career move, like Bi, Eric and Lee Hyori. They get offers for CF contracts where the big money is after becoming actor/actress. Bi is probably laughing his way to the banks after Full House became such a hit and he's so hot in Asia now after signing CF contracts in HK, China and Taiwan. Guest glitzyglam
I've said this before.. but I don't really mind it because my fav. actor started out as a singer (I think). Wait, An JaeWook did sing first.. right? but when that person is a really sucky actor.. I just pity them. T.T just as an example... it's okay if the person starts coming out on nonstop or somehting because the actors on there aren't meant to be professional-- and a lot of the 오바/오버 ("over") on purpose... but then when they start coming out in small parts for PrahaEh YunIn, I just feel bad for them because it's pretty obvious they couldn't act if their life depended on it.. of course... not mentioning any names... but haha, I think the Prague thing gave it away. . . -__-;; but I love this guy--- it's just his acting that makes me go ->
Guest knockblock
You get to see the singers extra times more when they act. For good or for bad.
Joanna
yeh true it's increasing but not as much as HK.. in HK EVERY actor is a singer and vice versa =P i like the idea so I can enjoy both their music and their movies/dramas if they are talented at both ^^ which i see most of them are! usually singers are also gifted actors/actresses hehe my opinion
