hello lovely soompiers!

i know there´s a bunch of surveys in here already. but i still needed to do this. i´m quite a regular to this section and i love it! it´s great that there´s a place like this, where we can talk and share infos about auditioning etc! but there is one thing, that makes me sad...

whenever i open an "audition" thread it seems like people worry most about their looks and their age. i always read comments like "am i too old? am i too young?" or "i´m too chubby. i´m too ugly...". while all of these worries are justified, these things are rather subsidiary compared to what is MOST important: real talent and abilities! sure, it´s a big plus if you´re goodlooking (and yeah, it´s a fact that you need to be presentable to be successful in the market), but it´s useless if you don´t have talent. (there are exceptions, but i´m going to ignore them) at the end it depends on you and your abilities to impress them so much that they forget about your "flaws" (which is your not so good looks, old age or whatever you might consider a weakness). instead of worrying, shouldn´t we all break out of our fears and work on what we do best?

that´s why i made this survey. i wanna know what you guys do in order to refine your skills =). plus, i wanna see how realistic you guys are. no offense, but i have the feeling that some of us don´t really know what "high profile" companies like SM, JYPE, YG and Brosent, expect of their trainees. I know a few girls, who are indeed very pretty and can sing farely well (like they would hit notes etc, but their voices weren´t special... no powerful vibrato or emotions). they auditioned for a company and were shocked and angry about the harsh comments they got. as much as i can understand their frustration, i was also surprised of their ignorancy/naivity. did they really think it´s enough to look pretty and be able to hit the notes? other than that they can´t read notes and can´t dance etc. so what were they expecting? i don´t want to bring anyone down or anything, i just want to say that nowadays in this hard business it´s not enough to be "ok" at something. you gotta be outstanding, because there´s tons of people, who are just "ok". so you guys, please think about it and do your best and try to widen your horizon. please be realistic, too. don´t be disappointed if you get rejected and don´t start accusing the companies for that. they know what they do, so always keep on working hard and improving until you get signed somewhere ^^
