Singer and ‘1Night 2 Days’ cast member Kim Jong-Min is nominated for Daesang Award in KBS Award presentation this year

 
This year, Kim Jong-Min is nominated for Daesang (Grand Prize) award the highest award in this year’s KBS Award. Kim is considered as an icon in Korean variety show with “1 Night 2 Days” for 9 years.
The news about his nomination is confirmed by Chosun Ilbo. Previously the rumor about his nomination is already circulating, considering he is the icon of the Korean variety show which has appeared in almost all variety shows in Korean television.
Kim, who is well-known with his common name Jong-Min is the most dedicated and the most loyal member of “1Night 2 Days” which was ared as part of “Happy Sunday” program in KBS every Sunday evening. He has been with the show since the beginning of the program in 2007. Jong-Min has experienced ups and downs with the show, including when he had to quit temporarily due to his military service duty in 2008 to 2009.
 
 
In order to give a tribute to his nine years dedication, the production team of “1Night 2 Days” made a special theme for the last two episodes of the season 3. The special theme is called “Kim Jong-Min special” which according to  KBS World TV, the episode is special to dedicate for him.
Jong-Min is nicknamed as the “excited fools” in the “1Night 2 Days” and in the special episode, all members took the MENSA test to measure their IQ. Result of the test is hilarious, as Defconn and, Dong-Gu surprisingly had the same score with Jong-Min.
Afterward they arranged an avatar date with a beautiful girl Kim Seo-Yeon who works as an interpreter in KBS Studio. As an avatar date, all members control what Jong-Min must say or do to her. After the date, Jong-Min revealed the truth to her and Seo-Yeon laughed heartily.

When Kim Jong Min won the Grand Award at the 2016 KBS Entertainment Awards, his longtime friend and Koyote groupmate Shinji was there to cheer him on.

On December 25, Shinji wrote on her personal Instagram, “Although it’s our leader who won the Grand Award, lots of people are congratulating even me. Everyone is sending encouraging messages and saying it’s a Christmas miracle. I will pass on those messages to him.”

Shinji also wrote, “Congratulations. I thought just ‘perhaps’ – no, I really wanted you to get it, so I bought a flower bouquet and waited. As soon as your name was called, I ran at the speed of light. You suffered a lot physically and mentally until now, but you’re really amazing. I was moved by the fact that you called me your teacher. I won’t say too much. Just sincerely congratulations.”

Kim Jong-min and Shin Dong-yeop win big

The surprising conclusion of two annual entertainment awards ceremonies from SBS and KBS resulted in unexpected grand prize winners.

The grand prize winner for the 2016 KBS Entertainment Awards, which aired on Saturday, went over to singer Kim Jong-min of variety show “1 Night 2 Days,” while comedian Shin Dong-yeop took home the grand prize from the 2016 SAF Entertainment Awards from SBS on Sunday.

Kim made headlines earlier this month for being considered as a nominee for the grand prize by KBS. The singer originally debuted as a new member of the pop trio Koyote with their third album. He simultaneously became a popular TV personality thanks to his unique sense of humor in the early 2000s, and had been a member of the long-running KBS variety show for nine years. 

Meanwhile, Shin, who originally debuted as a comedian under SBS in 1991, was awarded the Grand Prize after 26 years on the network. Though the long-time variety show “TV Animal Farm” host previously received the honor from KBS in 2012, he said “even though I am used to being a frequent host of these ceremonies, actually being on stage to receive this award feels like a completely different experience.”

Boat Horn Clenched Fists'!


The variety show will be a new, interesting one on fish based on the illustrated marine biology book created by Jung Yak Jeon two hundred years ago.  Using that as a reference, the participants of the show will study how much the ocean environment has changed and record new fish species. 

Joining Kim Byung Man will be BTOB's Sungjae, Kim Jong Min, Kang Ye Won, Yook Joong Wan, and Lee Sang Min!  It starts filming on January 1!

On the upcoming episode of MBC ‘Infinite Challenge’, the members will tour around the country to find those don’t know their names. 

The members were curious if there are people that don’t know Yoo Jae Suk, and they got to find those who don’t know them. ‘Your Name’ special has a rule that if the members meet a person, who doesn’t know the members, they have to go home, which means their popularity effects on their broadcasting time. 

Moreover, the members went on a trip with partners. Yoo Jae Suk joined with Kim Jong Min, Haha met Choi Min Yong and Kwanghee went along with Jo Kwon.
