Shim Eun-ha Gives Birth to Second Daughter

Retired actress Shim Eun-ha has become a mother of two.

Shim gave birth to a baby girl November 28 in southern Seoul. Reports say the mother and the baby are both in good health.

Shim, who married Ji Sang-wook, Ph.D in October 2005, gave birth to her first daughter in March last year.

The news of the childbirth reportedly emerged from acquaintances of presidential candidate Lee Hoi-chang. Shim's husband is a member of Lee's campaign team.

Another member of Lee's campaign team said Ji, who was busy with the campaign schedule at the time of his second daughter's birth, was extremely disappointed to have had to leave his wife alone in the delivery room.

Still making headlines despite her retirement, actress Shim Eun-ha gave birth to her second daughter last Wednesday.

Shim debuted in 1993 after being recruited by MBC. She became Korea’s top actress after starring in “Art Museum by the Zoo” and “Christmas in August.” In 2001, however, she suddenly quit acting, simply stating a desire for an ordinary life as a housewife. She married Ji Sang-wook in 2005 and hasn’t appeared onscreen since.

Recently, Ji’s work as a staffer for independent presidential candidate Lee Hoi-chang sparked rumors that Shim would reappear in the media as an influential politician’s wife.

But all rumors seem to be for naught, as Ji recently said he won’t take any political positions if Lee wins the election.

Ji is the only child of Ji Sung-han, chairman of Hansung Industrial. He has shown special loyalty to Lee. He followed Lee to the United States after the politician lost the 2002 presidential election and worked for him for several years. Lee has in turn publicly supported Ji. The presidential candidate made an appearance at Ji’s and Shim’s wedding in 2005.

I was compiling some of the clips from Beautiful My Lady (also known as Beautiful She) for a sweet friend, ended up watching the clips. Such a bitter bittersweet romance. Frankly, I never got to watching the last episode because it's just heartwrenching. Yup.. I skipped the ending altogether.

The soundtrack, the background music is just so sad.. of a man's difficult journey to find happiness.. the mother he longed for, till the very end.

Despite the fact that SEH looked rather polishedly mature and more sophisticated than LBH in the series (could well be the purpose of the storyline, too), I think they had a pretty good chemistry.. and a lot of kissing scenes, too. :blush: It's just quite a heavy drama at times seeing the hardship coming one after another.

However.. I just had this silly thought.. BML was produced way back in 1997.. wow.. 11 years ago! But the acting is just as if not .. more intense, more heartbreaking, more nerve-wrecking than the many series we see today. I wonder how it'd really fare today.. if it's aired now.. given the incredible & heartfelt performances by the cast.

If you've seen the series and would love to talk & share about it, please don't be shy to post your thoughts. I'd love to hear everything. No need to hesitate if you've only seen the series.. I've just seen some dramas as well, such a latecomer.. by the time I got to the (discussion) threads.. people have stopped talking about it.

So, no worries.. come and share, ok. I'm just a fan like everyone else. :blush:

wow... Thanks!!!!!rubie! BML is my favorite drama that LBH played. (there are other favorite movies such as, Bangee Jump and Sweetbitter Life but as for the drama, BML is my fav). The reason is that although as a drama, it is not very well done and the audience viewing rate was not high, as rubie mentioned it is just too heartwrenching...but SEH and LBH's chemstry was incredible. She is just a very very beautiful lady whom we can hardly ever seen anywhere in the world. (Can anyone who is so-so beaituful play this role of the drama titled "BEAUTIFUL my lady"??? I bet there aren't many.......she is not just having a beaituful face but also very mature, artistic atmospher, soft, romantic, pure, liberal and tolerant intellectual characteristic (I've also seen "August Christmas" but that time, I didn't think she is as beautiful as I've seen her in this drama).

I've heard that there is a strong fan group for SEH that still suport her and doing activities in SKorea. They are crying hard for her retirement. haha. She's been having a quiet and happy life somewhere in SKorea, right? but claims she will never come back to the entertainment world. But that's good for her. Coz she is not type of the girl to continue her career in such a hard world where many burutal people exist. She is not that tough woman or probably being famous was not what she wants to acquire for life, was it? I just don't know her very well but from her looks, she looks so soft to survive in the "dog-eat-dog world".

Also what attracted me is the lonely boxer, LBH. The way he looks at her from under his brows in the beginning of the drama (he thought "wow what a beautiful lady she is...") but he hesitates. That kind of awkward attitudes really knocked me out. haha. My fav scene was that when SEH went to LBH's room (small and dirty room), for a awkward guy as LBH, doesn't know how to entertain a beautiful woman like SEH, but tried to cook an instant noodle, (that was the least that he could do..haha) and suddenly something happened and he spilled it out or something (I forgot) then they kissed!!!! WAAAAAHHH!!!!! that was too romantic!!!!!! Sorry sorry :blush:

Also when they went to honeymoon, LBH was wearing the cap and leather jacket. That style was really cool and suits for LBH. She is always so elegantly dressed.... They are mismatched but very matched as if there are no other better partner in this world....

I have to watch the drama over again!!!

Thanks for the beautiful pics! This is one of LBH's best drama that represents pure, ruggedly handsome, harsh and wild character of his.

The really sweet & romantic part was that.. despite her beauty, her intelligence, her family backgound (father a doctor with own clinic).. SEH still falls for someone like BH, an out-of-luck boxer endlessly being used by a scrupulous evil manager. He's also in debts with the gangsters. But like the cliche saying.. Love is Blind... from the first time they met, she accidentally knocked on him with her car and he looked and looked through the car mirror at SEH, looking very intensely sad. I think that's the first "click" that they had about each other.. what do you think.

And she also knew that BH's secret .. to look for his mother.. the restaurant owner.. how he bought her Christmas presents but do not dare to give the gifts himself. Such a sad, sad scene.. only looking from far. And then the woman saw BH looking from outside.. called him for a meal in the shop, an unbelievable treat in the cold night. Wahhhhh.. he cried and cried while eating the hot meal cooked by his own mother.. I cried so much watching this!!!

It's not easy for the character that BH played.. having a beautiful and more successful wife as SEH.. although he did try to improve himself but his past dealing with the manipulative boxing manager keeps pulling him down. Besides.. he can't do anything else except boxing. Although he tried, too many obstacles still came to haunt him.

I just wish there was a happier ending. I love BML.. BH is really sooooo young and acting soooo good.. his eyes simply mesmerize... the way he looked at SEH.. from far, not knowing how to approach her. Yeah.. his sudden kiss on her made SEH startled, not really a good move by BH but he doesn't know how to do it properly .. and she ran away yet she waited outside his door. She understood him, after that.. their first kiss was really sweet... huh. :blush:

I think I might watch this again.. except the part with the female manager.. she's soooooo manipulative!!! And of course.. not watch the ending. Sobsob.

The kids.. the kids.. are really charming too.. the little boy, first so angry at his mom's new husband but in the end.. he loves BH sooooo much that it's heartbreaking seeing him cry missing his stepdad.

I'll post some more pics from BML, hope others with collection from the series would share them too. We'd love to hear your thoughts especially.

2000년 은퇴한 뒤에도 일거수일투족이 톱뉴스가 될 만큼 팬들의 관심을 받는 배우 심은하. 아마도 가장 빛나던 순간에 떠났기에 그 아쉬움이 더욱 크게 느껴지지 않았을까.

1993년 MBC 공채 22기로 연예계에 발을 들여놓은 심은하는 손지창·장동건 등 당대 최고의 청춘스타들이 출연했던 드라마‘마지막 승부’에서 청순한 이미지의 다슬이역으로 대중에게 얼굴을 알렸다. 이후 각종 드라마와 CF에서 연일 상종가를 유지하며 그녀만의 스타성을 키워갔다.

스크린의 진출은 첫 영화 '아찌아빠' 와 두번째 영화 '본투킬' 이 실패하며 순탄하지 않은듯 했지만, 이후 '8월의 크리스마스', '미술관 옆 동물원' 등의 선전으로 성공적인 충무로의 주연배우로 자리매김하게 된다.

심은하는 초기 영화의 몇몇 작품에서 기대에 미달하는 성적을 보인 것을 제외하면 데뷔 이후 그녀가 출연한 거의 모든 드라마와 영화, 그리고 CF에서 발군의 역량을 보여주었다.

*edit: I sometimes talk bad. Sorry for that. Actually I know that face is not important at all. Her hub looks like a really nice man. Esp in her case, she is beautiful enough so probably a handsome husband is not necessary. ^^;

It's my pleasure! However, there's not much caps from BML because it's an older series and not many have seen it either as it's quite hard to obtain an English-subbed dvd/vcd. But will definitely post everything because it's really a good series to watch, albeit a little sad and intense.

Yup, yup.. LBH and SEH acted again in White Nights 3.98 (BH also had a short cameo in SEH's drama 'I Do' before that). Have to admit that I've seen.. oops.. only 2 episodes of White Nights3.98, thanks to a friend who gave me a copy of the series dubbed in Mandarin.

Unfortunately, as much as I adore both LBH and LJJ.. I can't seem to continue watching due to the dubbing and un-subbed version. And even worse that the series is somewhat heavier in political content in the storyline.

But I haven't given up. :blush: It's just too bad that.. unlike 'The Sandglass'.. there isn't any Eng. subs available for the series/boxset. Hahaa.. my Sandglass copy is waiting.. CMS.. was indeed the man of the series. Of course, I haven't seen the young dashing LJJ. :rolleyes:
